R-Truth made reference to his heel turn on Twitter after the Raw taping yesterday, before it had aired in the US. He quickly deleted it when he was informed of the mistake. Yeah... don't do that.
Kurt Angle says that he and Jeff Jarrett were injured at Lockdown, though this is suspected to be a work. If not, Angle dislocated his shoulder and Jarrett broke some ribs. Ouch. If there's any update on these injuries, I will talk of them in a future post.
C.M. Punk will face Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match at Extreme Rules. That's definitely a kind of match that you talk about on TV (where most of your audience is) before announcing online.
WWE will talk about its first quarter earnings on May 5.
On to PWInsider.com's questions for the day. Here's my take on them:
I'm kind of hoping we don't get Eve vs. Michael Cole. Something tells me he'll be a big
Not much to add to their answers on 2 and 3. After the break, I look at the questions about Foley in WWE, and Orton's WWE Film. Then I run down the rest of the day's news.
Yeah, TNA's almost certainly not letting Foley go to WWE for Raw unless he wants to forfeit the rest of his contract or something. Why help your competition? And no, no one's promoting TNA in a positive light on Raw for the same reason. But I wonder if Foley will try to get out of his TNA deal to make that appearance. Would it be worth it financially to him or to WWE?
And Randy Orton's film has nothing to do with WWE. They're just trying to get the WWE audience and Orton fans to check it out. They don't have to pay anything to run ads on their own show, so they're getting the most publicity for it on TV as they can.
Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart was arrested on Monday for driving without a license and operating an unregistered vehicle. He was released after paying a $750 bond. Not cool. Is it really that hard to keep those things updated?
British wrestlers Zak and Britani Knight had a tryout match before Smackdown on Tuesday. The latter also had one last November.
Update: Scotland's Jack Jester also had a tryout. You can't say that WWE isn't looking internationally for new stars!
Perhaps unsurprisingly, a major anti-smoking activist misinterpreted WWE's angle with R-Truth on Raw and demands that WWE apologize. WWE responded by saying "We apologize for this and won't do it again. HAHAHAHA PSYCHE! It's a TV show, dumbass. You should be thanking us for trying to make smoking look like something only bad guys do, and get booed for doing. Please go away now, and take PWTorch.com's editorial staff with you." Not really, although that would have been great. TMZ has the story.
Bret Hart will be on the next episode of Tough Enough, and WWE is teasing a shocking announcement from Stone Cold.
WWE has released their magazine as a digital copy for 99 cents. Good move! I hope that works out for them.
The Miami Herald has a pretty good interview with John Morrison here.
The canceled Raw house show in Turkey will now be this Friday in Qatar. I don't know if it's a good business move to change house show locations with less than a week to go, but maybe they're able to do make some good money that way.
R-Truth's smoking segments were cut from the UK's airing of Raw, which is pretty lame.
Tough Enough's replay ratings continue to be solid, even at 1:00 (.58) and 2:00 (.42) in the morning! That's episode 2.
Episode 3 did a 1.53 rating in its 8 p.m. slot, then a 1.16 after Raw. It's clear that the audience doesn't mind not catching it the first time.
Finally, Raw did a 3.1 rating, which isn't so grand. However, a good portion of the show featured talents who aren't yet over at a large level. WWE has some work to do after the draft in rebuilding its audience.
That's all for Tuesday's news. I'll have more after midnight on Wednesday.
