Lio Rush is expected to join NXT, as he's announced a final CZW
appearance for August 5. I think WWE has plenty of young flippy guys,
but maybe he'll be able to make more of himself as part of
developmental.
Sunny remains hospitalized and is
undergoing further tests after collapsing last week. I wish her the
best, physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Kevin Nash will undergo surgery for a meniscus tear in his left knee. It's unfortunate he's had to have so many procedures. I hope he recovers well.
New Day promoted a Smackdown live event. No mention of the rap battle, just them being positive role models and such.
Tito Santana was profiled for his work teaching at-risk kids. Awesome to see him helping out like that.
Austin
Aries may not have asked to be released by WWE, but was relieved to
have been let go. Aries had been vocal regarding his unhappiness about
the direction of the cruiserweight division. I think a lot of people
share his frustration. I would have liked to have seen him move up to
Raw or Smackdown, as he could definitely hang with important names on
either brand.
Matt Hardy was tended to for his cut during GBOF. He and Jeff have had plenty of bumps and bruises in their careers.
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Every once in a while at a big show, if there's a good reason to do it, sure.
2. That would have been really cool! They could have made it work.
3.
It makes all the sense in the world to go with what the mainstream
audience wants instead of catering to the fans who are going to follow
every little thing no matter what either way. The hardcore fans are
going to attend Summerslam already. WWE needs to get people who are on
the fence to buy the show, and they're not going to get that by
promoting wrestlers most of the audience hasn't heard of before they hit
the main roster. Even when they hit Raw or Smackdown, WWE needs to
convince fans why these people are important beyond "they wrestled
somewhere else and got ****+ in the Observer."
4. They took swift action on it. Hopefully everyone involved is making sure it doesn't happen again.
5. I'll be surprised if it doesn't come up at the stockholder meeting. It's a big story.
6. I doubt it.
7. I think people could definitely be wary of trusting WWE with sensitive information, and I wouldn't blame them.
More wrestling tomorrow.
