First up, a query:
1. I don't see Devon going back to WWE as a wrestler. Weirder things have happened, but I feel like they'd want to use that TV time for younger talents.
After Raw, Big Show, Mark Henry and Rob Van Dam beat The Shield to end the night with a face victory to send the fans home happy.
PWInsider.com has a great story about meeting wrestlers in an airport.
Goldberg talked about Brock Lesnar and more. I don't see WWE shelling out the kind of money Brock gets for Goldberg. Brock went from being a big WWE star to a big UFC star. Goldberg went from being a big WWE star to.... (?). I think WWE would have to be really desperate to go after him at 46.
Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
Lex Luger gave a good-sized interview on a number of topics ahead of the release of his book. It was cool to hear his side of the story about WrestleMania X, as well as the other stories.
WWE has a look back at one of the most famous moments in all of wrestling, Shane Douglas dropping the NWA World Championship and putting over the ECW Championship. Cool to read that old-school history. Always fun to hear from Heyman.
Here's an interview with Zach Gowen. That angle with Piper and Hogan was INSANE. I didn't know it was coming, and was amazed. I do think that it's dangerous to have someone that young on the road with about a year of experience. Anyway; cool read.
WWE's social media keys were looked at. Any time I get to impress my schoolmates with something involving wrestling, I jump on it.
Shawn Michaels is having a signing at Waynesboro High School in Virginia on Sunday. Pretty cool (though how many high schoolers are that familiar with HBK?).
Raw's audience was 4.19 million this week, down from the previous week. Still pretty good though given some of the previous weeks.
Bad Influence were interviewed ahead of a TNA appearance. They're a bright spot in TNA for sure. I'd hate if TNA closed down and they didn't end up in greener pastures. Not everyone can go to WWE and ROH isn't as nationally televised.
Former MLB star Jose Canseco wants to join TNA. Part of me wants TNA to just abandon all semblance of being a good wrestling promotion and go full-on derp mode. Bringing in Canseco would be great for that purpose.
Rampage Jackson and Tito Ortiz were on SportsCenter to talk about their bout in Bellator. I hope TNA got some buzz from that, too.
WWE is interested in NJPW's Prince Devitt. They're not in any kind of talks at this time, but his name keeps coming up. I've seen him spoken highly of by fans "in the know" with Japanese wrestling. 32 with 11 years of experience is a really nice resume. Could be worth a shot.
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. TNA and ROH don't have the relationship with HuluPlus that WWE does through NBCUniversal. Spike.com airs Impact, though.
2. With TNA's budget cuts, I don't see it. She couldn't use the name Kelly Kelly, so I don't know if they'd want to use her.
3. This whole situation sucks for TNA, AJ, and wrestling fans. I want
the best for all 3. If that means AJ leaves and TNA hires some new young
talent, I'm ok with that. I like Styles and he's definitely a
cornerstone of the company, but both sides have a tough choice to make.
4. I think they would have done the Summerslam finish on Raw, leading to Orton vs. Bryan at Summerslam. It makes sense anyway.
5. Del Rio's old enough to go out and drink. Sheesh. If we got a Scott Hall/Jake Roberts situation, that'd be one thing, but we didn't.
More wrestling tomorrow.
