Cena and Otunga sightings, HBK update, HoFer works WWE live events, possible WWE cutbacks, boxer to make wrestling debut, another Kidd match, Hogan news and Questions on JR's "retirement", Punk vs. Bryan and Mania matches

John Cena and his family were sighted in Boston. It happens.

Shawn Michaels could be making at least one appearance as a part of the ongoing HHH/Bryan angle. That would be great! He has extensive history with HHH, Bryan and Orton they could play off.

Bob Backlund worked this weekend's WWE live events, taking photos. I wonder how many little Jimmys know who he is. But, hey, if he can make the company money in a matter that doesn't take spotlight from anyone else, why not use him?

WWE is considering cutting talents like managers from live events to save some money. If they need to save some money, there are a number of talents who are just kind of floating around with nothing to do (and only so many "spots" on TV). It's great to keep a few guys like JTG and Hawkins to put people over, but there are some other people on the roster they need to be taking looks at. If they haven't been on TV in more than 4 months, there's probably a good portion of the audience who wouldn't notice if they were gone. And honestly, if they haven't appeared anywhere in that long, how useful does WWE consider them?

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

David Otunga was spotted in Chicago this weekend.  It seems to me that if they're not going to use him in any capacity any time soon, it might be time to release him. If he's training in the Performance Center, that's one thing. But if he's just sitting at home getting paid to do nothing for the company for months on end, I don't see much of a reason to keep him around. He gets the company publicity, sure, but they're presumably paying him to do more than that. I'm not just singling Otunga out here. Where's Evan Bourne? Ezekiel Jackson?

Tyson Kidd worked another live event. Not much to add. I hope he and Natalya work together on TV soon.

Here's a press release on Riddick Bowe getting in the ring in 2014. If Spike TV ever gets a boxing promotion, it wouldn't shock me for them to try to bring him aboard in a similar capacity to their Bellator stars.

Jimmy Hart says that Hulk Hogan could get back in the ring. More than once.

It's about time for someone to ask Hogan if he's seen Old Yeller.

Speaking of Hogan, he had another incident getting hurt at sea. God laid some heavy @#$% on him, brother.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Yeah, I quit trying to psychoanalyze the McMahons a long time ago. They don't do things that a lot of people would find decent in situations like this. JR absolutely deserved a sendoff after everything he's done for WWE. He's one of the most important people in company history not named McMahon.

2. Firstly, a great performer can make just about any character work (Goldust, Taker). It's not all Creative's fault. But there are definitely valid reasons to be upset at how WWE conducts its business.

I think 3 was just answered.

4. That's a tough one. Punk definitely has him beat for longevity in the main event spot. And I suspect we're not done with Punk vs. Heyman until we get a second Brock match.

5. Anything involving Big Show, The Great Khali, and celebrities should be on there. *gag* I think they'll hit the high spots.

More wrestling tomorrow.
