Read on for my thoughts on last night's No Surrender-themed Impact.
Fine enough opening segment to set up the World Title match. The sooner we get away from Hogan vs. Bully, the better. This angle's like a car with 200,000 miles on it that they want to get just a LITTLE bit further before it finally collapses.
AJ vs. Aries was pretty good. They're clearly 2 of TNA's top in-ring competitors. The AJ situation makes BFG season more interesting than it would have been otherwise.
Really good Magnus promo. He's going places.
Fine promo from Roode to set up our second semi-final.
Roode vs. Magnus was also an impressive show of two solid in-ring talents. Both men know how to bring it when it matters.
Interesting stuff with Roode and Bad Influence.
Manik vs. Hardy is interesting. No Rampage or Tito in TNA? That's a shocker. I wonder what went down for them to make that decision.
Another Aces and Eights segment. I guess the angle still has some life in it. I just hope it's coming to a close at or near BFG.
Good video package for Bully vs. Anderson. The match definitely feels like something that matters.
If John Cena took the kind of punishment that Anderson took in that match before finally going down, the Internet would be burning him in effigy. The match itself was fun from a "lots of carnage" perspective at least - which is something of a TNA specialty. I wonder if this is Anderson's last hurrah in the company or the start of a big face turn.
Yeah, that's a pretty definitive beatdown of Anderson. Perfect for a write-off.
I don't like the idea of TNA stretching a "PPV" out for 2 weeks, personally. I also don't like ODB, so, you know...
That was a fine segment with Storm, Gunner, Chavo, and Hernandez. It seemed like they were teasing Chavo vs. Hernandez there for a while, but it doesn't look like we're getting that just yet. TNA does only have a few tag teams to play around with.
That was a really good main event with some serious drama. Both men earned even more of my respect for what they did in that match, especially after having both had matches earlier. I wonder if AJ will take a page from Chris Jericho's book and boast about beating Aries and Magnus in the same night.
My body is ready for AJ confronting Dixie. Obviously there are some similarities with the "Summer of Punk" angle WWE did in 2011, but it's compelling TV. I'd much rather see this than Hogan family drama or MMA stars in muh TNA.
More wrestling coming up.
