Here's an obituary for the recently-deceased Angelo Savoldi. 99 years is quite the long life, especially in the wrestling industry it seems.
WWE's VP of Talent Relations and Development (working under HHH) Jane Geddes received the 2013 Most Powerful and Influential Women Award from the National Diversity Council. Good for her.
WWE will have greeting cards, party favors and more coming out in June 2014 due to a new deal with American Greetings.
Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
C.M. Punk continues to deal with nagging injuries in his knee, elbow and ankle. That's quite unfortunate. He's a major part of WWE right now.
"Stone Cold" Steve Austin stated the odds of him returning to the ring are "pretty darn slim", alluding to the amount of training it would take for him to perform at an optimum level (and him not settling for less than 100%), as well as how long he's been away from WWE. I don't see anyone being too surprised at that statement. As much as I'd love to see Stone Cold vs. C.M. Punk, I'd rather the match not happen than it sully Austin's reputation.
Here are some highlights of JR's appearance on Stone Cold's podcast. It would be great for him to call Taker's last match. I hope Taker doesn't have a Flair-like retirement where he gets back in the ring when he should have stayed retired.
Mick Foley appeared on The Adam Carolla Show with an adult film star. Somehow I don't think they discussed the finer points of cutting promos.
Matt Morgan was interviewed about why he left TNA and more. TNA Creative not knowing how to use a talented star is nothing new. They always have roles for the former WWE/WCW Champions. Morgan has a great story, and I hope WWE looks his way.
Raw's audience this week was 3.74 million.
The dark match before Smackdown featured the somewhat odd teaming of NXT stars Bo Dallas and Sami Zayn in a loss to Tons of Funk. I'm curious to see if they use the two characters together on the main roster and how they blend.
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. So wait a second. Bryan would go over The Shield, Orton, Show and Sheamus, then being made for life when he makes one of the most decorated stars ever (who's still a top star) tap out, for the WWE Title, in the main event at a major event? I LOVE that idea. The only part of it I don't like is people will focus on the fact that it's HHH being WWE Champion (even though it makes perfect sense in the story). If HHH beat Bryan, that'd be one thing. But Bryan bringing in a new era by beating the Attitude Era guy is a great idea.
2. Of course, PWInsider.com's headline was "TAMMY SYTCH MUGGED", which stated it as a fact and not a claim. But the whole situation is beyond ridiculous (though what do I expect in the wrestling world?).
3. I think they will, unless Angle's unavailable for some reason. How many times have they still used him despite the problems he's had? I wonder if they'll go through the same thing next year when they presumably induct Jeff Hardy (what, you thought they'd put in a TNA Original or the founder of the company?).
4. In order: Yes, and maybe. I hope we do see Rhodes break out at some point. He's been below that glass ceiling for a while.
5. You never know what's going to happen in wrestling. All kinds of surprises end up happening. Fortunes end up reversed; that kind of thing. But things certainly don't look great for TNA at the moment.
More wrestling tomorrow.
