WWE continued their Undertaker-themed tweets. It seems like Todd MacFarlane is making a big Taker figure in conjunction with the Phenom Edition of WWE 2K14. Should be cool.
Lei'D Tapa will be wrestling on this week's edition of Impact, marking her post-Gut Check debut on the show. Tapa also competed on the One Night Only Knockouts Knockdown PPV. They're moving pretty quickly; they just ran a promo for her last week! But I don't suppose I can complain as it's definitely time for a new Knockout to show what she's made of.
Ken Shamrock has tweeted that he would like to return to WWE. I'd be surprised to see it, unless it was a one-time thing. I wonder if Spike/Bellator is thinking of making him an offer.
Former NXT signee Christina Vargas tweeted about why she left WWE. I wish her well in her post-WWE life.
Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
Booker T. will be at the opening of the 11,000th Dollar General in Murfreesboro, TN on 10/5 at 10:30 for autographs in an event sponsored by Doritos. Hopefully that will go better for him than that time he went to the grocery store with Stone Cold.
C.M. Punk visited with a rather large family as part of WWE's outreach program. Being a top WWE star is about more than what you do inside the ring and this is an example of that.
Gene Petit, best known as Hillbilly Jim's Cousin Luke, passed away. PWInsider.com has an article on him. They do a pretty good job with retrospectives.
Damien Sandow unsuccessfully attempted to cash in his MITB briefcase on a live event after RVD had taken out Alberto Del Rio. He ended up the victim of a Five-Star Frog Splash. At least they're reminding fans he has the briefcase and could become World Champ. I have a feeling history is going to repeat itself with someone winning the title as a last-minute decision after being booked poorly. Then, a fairly quick reign will ensue to pass the Title to someone else. WWE will then push Sandow back down into the midcard and wonder why this plan never results in someone getting to the next level.
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. It could easily have been a case of them revising history to draw attention away from a prominent TNA critic. It's certainly not uncommon for wrestling documentaries to distort things in favor of the company putting them on!
2. We could focus on the similarities to WWE's angle or we could focus on the fact that if done right, this angle could propel AJ Styles to a legitimate top spot. I choose to do the latter.
3. Again, HHH is one of the most decorated champions of all time, and just this year he beat BROCK LESNAR. I think it's ok for him to be portrayed as a top guy instead of just another authority figure. If (when) Bryan starts gaining momentum and getting through HHH's roadblocks, then it's time for HHH to sell fear. Right now, HHH pretty much has Bryan where he wants him.
4. He was just on Main Event. They still know he's around. He's just not in any kind of storyline at the moment.
Nothing to add to 5.
More wrestling tomorrow.
