Main Event:
Christian vs. Fandango wasn't bad at all. I definitely think the hype has died down for Fandango, but I suppose he still has some momentum.
Nice Divas' match. Natalya is quite the ring general. It's a shame that WWE can't figure out what to do with Layla. She's got some very pretty offense.
Nothing really "wrong" with Gabriel vs. Slater. They're always good for a fine match. Both guys continue to develop, and it looks like it will be a while before either is in contention for titles.
That was a really good ending segment. Maybe 3MB will turn face now? Not that that's the important part. The Wyatts are a pretty good act right now, thanks to Bray's amazing promo skills. I can't wait to see where they go from here.
Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
Today on HUGE NEWS STORIES YOU CAN'T MISS: Brock Lesnar ate a bunch of food after Raw. I guess you can give him credit for stimulating the local economy. Maybe the restaurant will benefit from his appearance?
Chris Jericho has indicated that he's done with WWE for the time being, finishing up at the Smackdown taping. From the sound of things, it doesn't look like he'll be back in 2013.No word on when he will be back.
WWE has stated that Randy Orton is injured, though he disputes this. So I guess I'll take a "wait and see" approach on this one. Obviously WWE wants him as healthy as possible.
Sonjay Dutt and Homicide are both on tonight's Destination X. Should be cool. No word on if either are coming in on a more regular basis, though Homicide said at one point that he's retiring within a year. I enjoy both men's work, though of course sometimes it's a matter of how they're used.
Eric Bischoff put over Tara and DOC on Twitter, which was nice of him. Apparently some people are under the impression that he was behind their releases. Bischoff doesn't work in Talent Relations. He's just a favorite target of the IWC, so he gets blamed for everything.
Nikki Bella has some sort of shin injury, hence her crutches. It's unknown exactly what it is or how it was caused.
Former TNA referee Rudy Charles is now a referee in NXT. It'd be interesting if they did some kind of angle between him and Xavier Woods given the TNA connection. I don't think they'll do it (why promote TNA?), but it would be interesting.
Here's a list of wrestling-related appearances at San Diego Comic-Con. I definitely think there's some cross-over in those fan bases.
Shane Helms, a.k.a. The Hurricane and Gregory Helms, was interviewed. I loved The Hurricane gimmick. I'm not going to lie. I like his thoughts about comedy gimmicks - I know for some people it's hard to believe that people go to wrestling shows to see things other than "good wrestling" a la ROH.
Dolph Ziggler talked ahead of this week's Smackdown. Zeb Colter better cut a promo about it being at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. I liked how he put things over, including RVD, the other shows, getting merchandise, etc.. This guy's a "keeper".
George "The Animal" Steele talked about his book again. Nothing really groundbreaking.
TNA has released Bruce Prichard, who was both the head of Creative and Talent Relations. This would be like WWE releasing HHH and Stephanie McMahon. He was the force behind Gut Check and the TNA relationship with OVW. I think in some ways both Creative and talent development were in better places under him, but obviously TNA has other ideas. I think the axe fell because of the last-minute nature of a lot of contract negotiations, leading to some performers (RVD, Devon, DOC) leaving because their contracts expired.
D-Lo Brown has also been released. He was very involved in talent development, too. It'll be interesting to see what changes happen with them gone.
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I really doubt it. I don't see any reason to. It's not like they can't do Rollins and Reigns vs. Rowan and Harper or something.
2. Maybe they can't sell it out? But their explanation makes sense, too.
3. But he beat Jericho (with a roll-up)! Yeah, he could definitely use a rub. He might end up paired with Vickie, which I'm a little hesitant about. But she did good things for others, so maybe it's the best thing that could happen to him.
4. Hey, it's SYFY. Not SciFi. That's pretty much it, though. It seems kind of weird that other countries would have a network called "USA", no?
5. They just changed the Creative team, so anything can happen. They initially only planned for five members, for what that's worth. I wouldn't mind it, because they definitely need to push some new blood.
More wrestling tomorrow.
