C.M. Punk was injured at MITB, requiring stitches: graphic photos here and here. Ouch. He was helped to the back after the match.
Rob Van Dam also needed staples and chipped a tooth.
Sheamus and Christian are also said to be banged up from the main event, with Christian also having chipped teeth and a possible concussion.
Cody Rhodes was busted open in his MITB match, requiring five stitches.
Add all that up and you get that ladder matches are really dangerous and need to be special and rare. Is this sports entertainment or a demolition derby?
Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
There was a lot of promotion for "Total Divas" at MITB. I don't picture hardcore Philly fans watching that.
Bob Backlund and some family members of The Rock (mother and daughter) were at MITB as well.
Here's the press release on Ultimate Warrior being in WWE 2K14. That's pretty cool, I guess. Not as cool as Brock or Tyson, but still pretty cool.
Update: And here's the trailer. That was certainly something!
Update 2: Warrior talked to Sam Roberts of the Opie and Anthony show.
Triple H and NXT's Xavier Woods talked at the opening of the WWE Performance Center. P.S. If you want to sound REALLY smart, online fans, you can chant "TNA" when Woods is in the ring since he wrestled there! Everyone will be really impressed by your knowledge. Anyway, very cool stuff from HHH on how serious wrestling really is. I like that Woods doesn't expect to be handed anything just because he wrestled in TNA. I know some online fans were complaining when Ambrose and Rollins had to do FCW/NXT given their previous experience. I don't see him as someone ready for the main roster yet, honestly. With so few TV spots, and with others more "ready" than he is, I think he should stay in NXT for a while longer.
John Cena vs. Mark Henry was advertised as the dark match for after Raw, but it ended up being Cena over Ryback. Let the speculation begin on Henry's future after tapping out and being taken out by The Shield in the span of 24 hours. He hasn't been removed from any advertised dates or anything, so as far as I know he's still going to be active.
Rob Van Dam was interviewed... way back in January. Basically if you want to hear RVD put himself over for 11 minutes, this is the interview for you.
Here's another story on the Performance Center. NXT is pretty solid these days.
Sheamus talked ahead of a South African tour. Nothing too monumental.
If you want to hear about "Total Divas" for over 45 minutes, be WWE's guest!
And if you want to hear the Bella Twins shill for the makeup they wear, this is where you want to go.
Here's a big interview with Stone Cold Steve Austin. If anything newsworthy comes out of it, I'm sure it will be noted.
And here's an interview with former ECW star Angel Medina. Bad language ahoy!
Someone has been leaking results of PPVs before they happen on Reddit. WWE isn't happy about it. More here. Kind of a funny response by WWE.
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I like those talents well enough, but am not crazy about the idea of them being a faction. As crowded as things are right now, it probably would be best to keep Mason and Crimson in NXT. I wouldn't say that they're "really green", but they've got a ways to go before they could contribute in a big way. Morgan's ready for the main roster.
2. >could of. Anyway, here are some details. Sounds like their choice was to not promote themselves much as "WWF" or go full-out as WWE. I can't really blame them for going this direction.
3. They'd have to treat Smackdown like it's in Raw's league and promote the stars of that brand accordingly. I think they have enough performers to do it (counting NXT). They're just less willing to take risks on younger/newer talent than they were previously.
4. I was ok with it. They didn't want it accidentally getting blown out!
5. I enjoy them so far. I wish more acts got that much character development.
More wrestling tomorrow.
