Since it's not a spoiler anymore, Chris Jericho's final match for WWE for the time being was on Smackdown. He's off to do Fozzy through sometime in October. No word on when he'll be back wrestling, but from the sound of things, he's not coming back immediately after the tour. I'd guess that he'll be back around Mania season, but you never know with him.
There will be some WWE-related comic books coming out later this year, penned by Mick Foley. That could be pretty cool.
Here's the latest teaser for "Total Divas", involving John Cena and Nikki Bella's relationship.
Curtis Axel talked about the Intercontinental Championship and more. Pretty cool to see that picture of him next to his father. I hope he does bring prestige back to the Title. Of course, Creative needs to help with that. I think him starting off as McGillicutty kind of helped him: he didn't get to rest on his laurels as a 3rd-generation star. As for his mic skills being an issue: this promo at the end of NXT Season 2 was memorable for all the wrong reasons. I think it's cool that he pulls lines from other places. I don't listen to country music, so I wouldn't catch the references.
Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
RVD explained why he didn't make Comic-Con.
NXT's Kendall Skye competed in a match on a recent NXT live event, so she's not just being used as a ring announcer. She's got experience in kickboxing, Muay Thai, and MMA, so we could be in for a treat once she starts appearing on TV.
DGUSA states that the TNA appearances of Trent Baretta (Greg Marisciulo) and Jigsaw (Rubix) do not affect their statuses in that promotion. So it doesn't look like either man's TNA-bound at the moment. I would have liked to have seen Marisciulo there. I've seen more personality from him than a lot of wrestlers of similar size. Granted, he got TV time in WWE to get that character over, which was pivotal.
Here are some upcoming advertised dates for C.M. Punk, Paul Heyman, Brock Lesnar, and RVD. Punk vs. Lesnar should be really good.
Samoa Joe talked ahead of a TNA live event. WWE has cheaper tickets if I'm not mistaken. At any rate, the photo is of Angle vs. Hardy but the interview is with Joe.
Rudy Boy Gonzalez talked about training Daniel Bryan and Brian Kendrick and more. I think there's a reason one of those guys is getting a big push in WWE and the other is on the indie scene.
Kazarian talked about the possibility of going to WWE and more. I don't see WWE being interested in him, considering he'd be pretty much starting from scratch there at 35. They'd rather sign some younger stars I think.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have a new luchador mascot. I'd have a snappy remark here but I don't even sports.
The WWE leak story has gone viral as a lot of news outlets have picked it up. Needless to say, Management isn't pleased. I'm not really sure why people are leaking the match finishes, honestly. Revenge against Vince or something?
Rey Mysterio missed Comic-Con, in San Diego no less, due to his mother being quite ill and in the hospital. I wish her a full and speedy recovery.
Speaking of Mysterio, he has opted for rehab on his knee instead of another surgery. I wonder how much longer his body can hold up. He's one of WWE's top stars when he's healthy. They don't want to lose him.
Here's a video of The Miz at Comic-Con. Cool. I'm excited for Arkham Origins and Strider myself.
The cause of death for Doink has been revealed. It paints a very sad picture. I hope this is a wake-up call for the industry. This really needs to be addressed. Of note, I believe that WWE is taking action by having doctors on-call at the new Performance Center.
TNA is letting fans choose upcoming matches in the Bound For Glory Series, which I think is a pretty smart idea. I hope TNA can capture fans' interest.
TNA Destination X drew 1.49 million viewers, the highest mark they've reached since January. In other words, the show did better than any other show in Bully Ray's title reign. Bigger than Rampage Jackson's debut. Bigger than Hardy challenging Ray on TV. Bigger than the build to Sting vs. Ray at Slammiversary. Bigger than the highly-touted ladder match between Taryn and Gail. So maybe, just MAYBE, what draws isn't necessarily older stars, celebrities, or big hardcore gimmick matches. Maybe it's just a promise of something fresh and the old story of a babyface being built up to challenge a heel? I really hope TNA runs with Sabin as champion and tries to get the most they can out of it instead of just going back to Bully as champion. They have an opportunity to really "make" Sabin and show that they can do new, fresh things. Five years from now, Sabin will only be 36. Bully Ray will be 47. Which one of those guys is more likely to be an active part of the TNA roster, doing multiple live events, and so forth? As hard as it is to build new stars at times, this is one title reign that they should NOT mess up.
Ultimate Warrior talked to WWE about how the business has changed since his day, Vince McMahon, and more. Interesting stuff about then vs. now. There are definitely some who want a return to some of those things that Warrior put over.
Ted DiBiase, Sr. talked about his heat with Warrior. As I said, Warrior's not the most liked guy in the business.
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. That's something I never really thought about, but I'm going to guess it's how they said it was. If it looks most like Borne's version, that's who they should have paid.
2. Ten years is a long time, and honestly there's really no telling how much things will change between now and then. Compare wrestling in 1989 and 1999 for instance. There could be all kinds of twists and turns, much like wrestling in general!
3. I don't necessarily think that the two are related. They definitely want to do a physical Hall, but it could be something more like AXXESS. I don't think it's a top priority for them right now (compared to, say, the WWE Network).
I don't know nearly enough about 4 to have a qualified opinion, so I'll defer to their answer.
5. I don't think that every version of the character was, but the original Peter Parker made money as a wrestler. And I can't go without mentioning WCW's Arachnaman.
More wrestling tomorrow.
