Main Event:
I don't know who (if anyone) writes Colter's promos, but they're consistently hilariously non-PC.
I loved the ring psychology of Sheamus vs. Swagger. With SO. MUCH. WRESTLING. every week, it's tough to differentiate matches. They did a good job standing out from the pack.
Sin Cara vs. Drew was fine. Like I said, there's just so much wrestling in a week that matches that don't have any backstory and aren't between big stars feel somewhat meaningless.
You already know what I'm going to say here: Sandow cut another good promo. I hope his character starts to progress in the months to come as he goes for the Title.
Sandow vs. Gabriel really got good in its final stage. I wouldn't mind a rematch. I can't be the only one who's getting tired of just straight-up wrestling without much in the way of story to some of the matches. NXT has a good deal of ring work, but there are a lot of stories going on as well to make those matches important.
Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
Rapper Milo talked about his pro wrestling influences. Neat little article.
Here are 20 facts about WWE superstars. I don't think Bryan is a vegan anymore. It was too hard to keep it up on the road. Most of that other stuff was fairly common knowledge.
A Vince McMahon promo airing on next week's Raw has been described as "really, really bad".
Rey Mysterio's mother is expected to make a full recovery. Good to hear. No further update on his own status. He was hoped to be back in the ring by Summerslam, but time's running out to advertise that if it's going to happen.
Edge talked at Comic-Con. There's some wrestling talk, but a lot of it is about "Haven". I still don't see him coming back in any major capacity any time soon.
Hulk Hogan will be a part a stage show on 8/24 in Toronto alongside Eric Bischoff. I wonder if they'll get any rowdy, combative TNA fans?
PWInsider.com has another statement from Jesse Sorensen. I like his attitude and wish him well in his post-TNA life.
The Gateway Grizzlies will have Jerry Lawler throw out the first pitch on 8/9. Also in attendance will be Harley Race, Baron Von Rachke, Ken Patera, Rocky Johnson, and Larry Matysik. That's neat. I don't think I'd go see a baseball game just to see wrestlers, but they could do worse things to prop up attendance.
Percy Watson talked about his release from WWE. I didn't see any of those rumors they mentioned on any credible sites. I think it could have been that they had already featured him a number of times (on NXT Season 2 and NXT Season 5) and didn't think it was worth giving him a third chance or they didn't have any idea of what to do with him. He was very athletically gifted and showed good personality when given a chance. It doesn't look like TNA will come calling, so maybe ROH will pick him up.
Here's a puff piece on The Bellas on another E! show. I really could not care much less about "Total Divas".
Ultimate Warrior talked. Funny Savage story.
There are apparently rumors about Stacy Keibler coming back to WWE. More on this tomorrow.
It's the story that just won't die: JR talked about the Paige situation some more. What else is there to say? He thinks maybe she needs some more time to mature. We're beating a dead horse here.
7/25/13 is "Booker T Day" in Houston, TX. I guess there are worse people to have days named after? He's had an illustrious career, and it's cool that the city will honor him.
Jerry Lawler almost missed Raw, driving to Dallas when the taping was in Laredo. Actually, having Lawler being in a town other than where Raw is isn't a bad idea. Ditto for Vince. But it's not happening any time soon. I think both guys are safe.
Here's another "Total Divas" story - Color Magazine introduced its readers to Naomi and Cameron. Ugh... reality shows...
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. That's honestly not a terrible idea (if they brainwashed him or something), but I think he would overshadow the Wyatts and that's the last thing that they want with new talent.
2. Supporting characters are gone while some of the most-featured names are still around? Crazy! Other than that I look to their answer.
3. It's an interesting scenario if they want to REALLY get behind Bryan. I think they could have Orton beat Bryan after Bryan beats Cena and still do right by Bryan IF he rebounds strongly (presumably beating Orton at some point thereafter). Of course, if Cena beat two main eventers in one night, it'd be all Super-Cena, CENAWINSLOL, etc..
4. It's all down to what kind of offer WWE gets from the city in question and the stats of the city. I don't think they're against any particular city for any non-practical reason.
5. Bischoff is just a producer in TNA. He has nowhere near the kind of power he had in WCW. People love to go after Bischoff and Hogan for things they have nothing to do with...
More wrestling tomorrow.
