Post-Raw and pre-Smackdown dark matches, new Battleground segment/matches, Raw main event, former champ misses Raw, WWE return this weekend, Wyatt Deletion notes, first match for DBD14, CTE research on deceased wrestlers continues, CWC alternates, another important name at Harley Race camp, Raw audience, WWE courting top UK name?, former ECW champion at WWE, more on TNA's big signing, TNA cameos, and Questions on honoring Piper, promotions teaming up against WWE, a Monteal movie, and booking Brock vs. Orton

After Raw, Dean Ambrose and Sami Zayn beat AJ Styles and Seth Rollins. It's cool Zayn got that honor instead of Big Match John, Kane, or Big Show.

Added to Battleground:
- Randy Orton on the Highlight Reel
- Rusev vs. Zack Ryder for the U.S. Championship
- New Day vs. Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan, and Braun Strowman

Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins is set for Raw as they warm up to face the Big Dog Roman Reigns at Battleground. I'm very interested to see who the World Champion(s) will be after the draft. If they want Smackdown to be at Raw's level, they should have Raw be the show to have to crown a new champion. Although what would stop Stephanie from just making Triple H the champ on her show?

Chris Jericho was on an approved vacation Monday but will be back on the road this weekend.

Neville is scheduled to return to the ring at this weekend's WWE live events. He can jump right in the U.S. or IC Title pictures.

- Neville beat Bo Dallas in a dark match before Smackdown.

Matt Hardy and Señor Benjamin tweeted about WWE doing an angle reminiscent of Final Deletion. I bet LU is pretty bitter right now that "their" style is being used by more-watched promotions.

- Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy discussed the similarities in their recent angles in a kayfabe Tweet off. I didn't realize I wanted this feud until now. It'd be hard to pull off, though, since they're so similar.

Silas Young vs. Katsuyori Shibata is official for DBD 14. There hasn't been official word of Silas signing a new deal with ROH, but he's clearly sticking around for the time being.

The brains of Chyna, Balls Mahoney, and Axl Rotten are being studied for signs of CTE. This has bearings on the ongoing concussion lawsuit by Vito and Evan Singleton.

WWE has announced alternates for the CWC, should performers not make weight:
- Jessy Sorensen
- Aaron Solo
- Kai Katana, who worked a dark match at a recent NXT taping.
- Mr. 450, wrestling as Jesus Yurnet
- Johnny Vandal, wrestling as Vandal Ortagun

Shane/Gregory/Hurricane Helms will also be appearing at the 2016 Harley Race Wrestling Camp, alongside Hiroshi Tanahashi from NJPW and Dave Taylor from WWE. So, TNA will also possible scouting talent there. That's great for those competing at the camp! Race trained Curtis Axel.

Raw's audience was 3.17 million Monday, pretty much in line with what they had done before July 4.

Paul Heyman offered Will Ospreay a contract with EVOLVE, which seems to build on those "WWE is interested in Ospreay" rumors. I think the last thing WWE needs is another vanilla flippy guy. He's really acrobatic and athletic, but they need more kinds of styles and bodies in the mix. More hosses and mastadons please.

Tommy Dreamer was backstage at Smackdown, leading to speculation of him returning to WWE as part of the upcoming brand extension. Would he be willing to come back to put young names over when he could continue running his own promotion? I imagine they'd try to work something out where he can still try to take HOH to new heights; it'd be a shame if he shuttered that company to eke out a few more years of bumps in WWE. I think he'd be a good veteran to use on the WWE roster, though, as they continue to move into the New Era. He can teach the new names some important fundamentals.

Moose has signed a two-year deal with TNA. Great pickup by that company. ROH and WWE's loss is their gain, and they can put him right to work in a big role. I'm very excited to see more of him.

Other cameos in the Hardys vignette on Impact: His butler was CWF Mid-Atlantic booker Brad Stutts. The server was a friend of Reby Sky.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I'd love to see Piper get a statue like other legends, and a memorial award at the Slammys for the rowdiest character or moment of the year. Also a Dusty award for the most colorful character of the year.

2. It'd be interesting to see what would happen if TNA, ROH, GFW, PWG, and LU all pooled their resources, but I don't see any chance of that occurring. Without a distribution platform to rival Vince's deal with NBCU, the Network, etc., I don't see anyone being able to break WWE's grip in the U.S. Things get more interesting if CMLL, NJPW, and other international promotions jump aboard, but I really don't see them all banding together like that. Each promotion has its own goals that don't necessarily overlap.

3. I don't see it playing well. The subject has already been covered and exploited to death inside the industry, and the story of a wrestler being upset at losing a fake belt in a fake sport before leaving to make a lot of money for not a lot of work in another promotion doesn't seem like something people outside the wrestling world would care about.

4. Mike would have to job on PWInsiderXtra for a few months, I suppose.

5. I don't think losing hurts Orton given his list of accomplishments. He's at that HHH/Taker/Kane/Cena/Show level and can rebound if he needs to.

More wrestling tomorrow.
