NXT release, Interview with Punk, and a new WWE signing

Caylee Turner, sister to Alicia Fox, was released by WWE. Third chances are pretty rare, so this might be the last we see of her.

C.M. Punk talked to Comcast. Good stuff.

WWE signed Mercedes KV to a developmental deal.

More news coming up soon!

Interview with Gail Kim and a developmental release?

Gail Kim talked ahead of a TNA live event.

DT Porter is believed to have been released from NXT.

The news source I'm working with now didn't have tons of news for 8/16! More to come after the 8/17 Smackdown.

Update

College is still busy and about to get busier, but I'll try to resume posting where I left off soon. The site I usually use for news has not been updated since the 15th so I'm going kind of a back way to get news. I will do my best to see that everything is as accurate as possible!

Update

I'll sum things up quickly: I've been quite busy the past few days with college things and my news source hasn't been updated recently. So, there's no timetable for when I'll be able to resume posting. Sorry for the delay!

Questions on WWE being PG, wrestling schools, Joe in WWE, and the WWE Network, name scratched from Summerslam, Interview with RVD, and the brother of a former WWE Champion is signed

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Things will get worse before they get better I think. It's all about sponsorships and business for them, not the wishes of wrestling fans.

2. What they said basically. Look at results and look at the names attached to the school.

Nothing to add to 3.

4. I'd love to see it, especially with Punk and Bryan at the top of the card. But for whatever reason WWE didn't sign him. I'd like to think that things would be different now with Triple H in charge, but there's no guarantee.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Interviews with AW/Jericho, Questions on Nash, JTG, Cena vs. Taker, and Punk, JBL back? WWE addresses JTG's complaints, FCW/NXT update, and Raw viewership

AW gave more details about his firing. I'm glad someone's speaking out about what's going on there.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. If you want to call it trolling, he's a successful troll. I see what you're saying, though.

2. It depends on the case. I definitely understand JTG's complaint. To some degree I think WWE wants talents to take initiative and take the bull by the horns of their own career. There's a whole dimension of getting over that has nothing to do with what you do in the ring.

3. Nash really is a puppetmaster, and people keep getting their strings pulled.

4. It depends on how long Taker stays around. I wouldn't rule it out entirely. It'd be a good clash of old guard vs. new(ish) guard.

Matches made for Impact, X-Divisioner signed, Interviews with Joe, AJ and Anglem new Summerslam match and viewership for Smackdown

Set for Impact:
Jeff Hardy vs. Bully Ray
AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels (AGAIN)
Samoa Joe vs. Magnus

Kenny King has officially signed on with TNA. Glad to hear it.

Samoa Joe talked to Marvel before Hardcore Justice.

DiBiase returns, Bearer appears, Questions on Brock, WWE failing to push new stars, WWE vs. TNA on PPV, GMs, and questions/queries, WWE in China, and Ashley Flair gets a new name

Ted DiBiase has returned to the ring for WWE.

Paul Bearer made a special appearance at the 8/11 live event, where he was interrupted by Heath Slater. This led to Ryback vs. Slater, which Ryback won.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Who's going to stiff Brock Lesnar!!??? I can see him retaliating if someone did something stupid, but I think he's mature enough to stay in work mode.

2. Those are actually some good points, but the counter-argument was also strong. I do think them not having a major competitor is hurting their product. If TNA was a legitimate (big money) threat, I think things would be run differently there.

Angle rumorkiller, World Title match off?, more on AW's release, and FCW additions/subtraction

Apparently there's a rumor going around that Kurt Angle will be in WWE '13. Unless he's there as a top-secret surprise, don't count on seeing him in there.

WWE is teasing that Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio won't happen after the angle from Smackdown, as punishment for Del Rio's attack. I expect Sheamus will demand that the match take place.

WWE added a comment on why they released AW. Apparently his tweets got him in trouble.

Interviews with AJ/Styles, TNA dark match, more from Joey Ryan, Questions on Angle moonsaults, the brand extension, Taker, and the Jarretts, Z! TLIS #79, Where's Trent?, more on Gunn/FCW, Impact viewership, AW release and its backlash, and HBK on another Raw

WWE's AJ was interviewed by ESPN.

TNA's AJ (Styles) was also interviewed.

Before Impact, Northeast talent CJ O'Doyle and Team 3D students Los Ben Dejos received a tag team tryout for TNA.

Joey Ryan sent out an open letter in regards to TNA Gut Check. Maybe he'll get signed to face the Aces and Eights?

For my take on PWInsider.com's questions:
Nothing to add to 1.

2. Flair did the same bit from the top rope. It's a spot that gets over! In kayfabe, I guess he figures he'll hit it again one of these days. He should or it wouldn't make sense to keep in his repertoire.

Query on Melina-TNA, new WWE show, Interviews with Punk and Nash, Orton update, and Questions on wrestling's most famous hand, Velvet Sky, Taker, and TRT

First up, a query:
1. No news on Melina going to TNA. Ever since talk of Morrison going there died down, there hasn't really been any buzz about it. They were considering bringing her in at one point, though.

WWE is set to launch another new show later this month on the CW with one fresh match a week. I look at that as good news for the people who aren't working much at the moment. The show is supposed to be kid-friendly with looks at the BE A STAR campaign.

C.M. Punk talked ahead of Wizard World Comic-Con.

Randy Orton isn't expected to work Summerslam, likely as punishment due to his suspensions. They're damned if they do and damned if they don't push him.

Questions on Punk vs. Sheamus, Morgan, Taker, WWE vs. TNA, and 50 years of WWE, Otunga update, past workers at FCW, responses to Nash's claims, and Jericho talks WWE future

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. That doesn't really say "WrestleMania dream match". I don't know if it'd be a big draw for them based on their personalities and styles.

2. Supposedly at least at one point there was interest in him from WWE. Whether that interest pans out is to be seen. I also hope he ends up there.

3. I can't think of any specific examples, but I'm sure that happens. I was at work when Raw 1000 was going on. BOOOOOOO.

4. A former TNA employee was signed by WWE and tried to give them insider information (and was fired for his efforts). TNA is suing for damages if I'm not mistaken.

What happened after Raw, Questions on Jericho, Del Rio, Punk, Claire, and Mania, Interviews with Jericho/Nash/Rhodes/Rollins, new FCW signing, and Raw viewership

John Cena, HHH, C.M. Punk. Vince McMahon, and The Undertaker all got mic time putting over Shawn Michaels after Raw. He got a plaque for his contributions to the business. John Laurinaitis ate two superkicks, and the night ended with HHH, Taker, and HBK standing tall.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Thank goodness people are getting what Jericho's doing and not focusing on how predictable it is that he's losing to up-and-comers. He knows that he'll still be super-over if/when he comes back despite his losses.

2. That's just a rumor I believe. He did attack Sheamus pretty good not too long ago, though. I like Del Rio, but don't think he's at JBL's level yet. He could use some help from Creative in making him more hateable and less monotonous.

3. Punk might have been out-of-character talking about that on Twitter, while his character now feels that he should be on last.

Ambrose update, why Kharma left WWE, Possible Aces and Eights spoiler, Questions on retiring wrestlers, WWE vs. TNA, predictability, and failing Wellness tests, Rhodes rumorkiller, crazy Divas, Team 3D update, HBK talks, Smackdown viewership, Sky update, Mendes rumorkiller, more live Impacts, and JTG is frustrated

Dean Ambrose competed on the 8/5 Raw house show, losing to Alex Riley. How many MONTHS of dark matches has this guy had now?

Kharma leaving WWE was due to her gaining so much weight from her pregnancy and the depression that followed her miscarriage. She's looking to get back into wrestling shape.

The former Luke Gallows is advertised for an upcoming TNA live event, adding to the rumor of him being a part of Aces and Eights.

For my take on PWInsider.com's questions:
1. I've always heard that rumor, but if they say there's nothing to it I'm inclined to believe them.

2. WWE for me. I'm generally less frustrated watching their shows than I am after watching TNA.

Questions on WWE online, Santino in the Hall, new stars, and Teddy Long

Very slow news day yesterday for WWE and TNA. All queries I've addressed before, so the only news is PWInsider.com's questions:
1. I wish. It's still very profitable for WWE to be TV only.

2. Way too early to tell. Let's see how he's remembered in another 5-10 years before saying which way he'll go.

Nothing to add to 3. Everything else is after the break!

Query on Jackson Andrews, WWE at Olympics, more on new TNA signing, Interviews with Kazarian/HBK, Questions on Daizee Haze, Madison Rayne, FCW deals, James Dudley, and Reby Sky, and a Barrett update

First up, a query:
1. No word on Tyson Kidd's former bodyguard Jackson Andrews going to TNA. I can't think of a single time I've seen him mentioned since his WWE release, except in queries to this blog. So there's no telling what he's up to.

WWE is reportedly scouting for talent at the London Olympics. Good!

Gut Check's Sam Shaw is a graduate of the Team 3D Academy.

Kazarian talked about WWE and more.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Cagematch lists her last match is being from October '11.

Laurinaitis update, Interviews with Slaughter/Styles/HBK/Roberts, Questions on AJ Lee, Divas, and Del Rey, Z! TLIS #78, and Impact viewership

Going forward, John Laurinaitis will be used as a producer/agent on live events. He will also make physical appearances on those shows "by order of the WWE Board".

Sgt. Slaughter talked to The Score.

For my take on PWInsider.com's questions:
1 and 2 are recent repeats, so I'll skip to 3. Are you serious? She's got to be already more popular than, say,  Curt Hawkins. I can see her becoming very popular if they keep booking her well and she keeps performing like she's performing.

4. Not pushed like it should be, even though the company has plenty of time for recap packages and social media. They've got talented workers there, but they're generally stuck on Superstars.

Thoughts on WWE's Q2 financial results

Read on for details and analysis on WWE's business news.

Query on Shane McMahon, Questions on Jericho, DQs in cages, Kaufman in the Hall, and Heyman's book, and Mysterio talks bullying

For today's financial news, see the next news post. Here's everything else.

First up, a query:
1. Shane McMahon is almost definitely not going to be involved in TNA's Aces and Eights angle, or anything wrestling-related any time soon for that matter. He's running a cable on demand business in China.

For my take on PWInsider.com's questions:
1. Jericho could be messing with fans. I certainly hope he's wrestling Ziggler at Summerslam, but if there's a conflict of interest with Fozzy we might have to settle for him doing it on Raw.

2. Some bookers don't ascribe to the "no DQs in cage matches" rule, or the "cages are there to prevent interference" rule. Times change.

Night of Champions poster, Questions on de-pushes, a Punk faction, Superstars, Orton, and TNA, Jericho's last WWE date, No Surrender poster, Interview with Kenny King, who was with Daniel Bryan on Raw and Kelly Kelly returning

Here's the poster for Night of Champions. Start those rumors up!

For my take on PWInsider.com's questions:
1. I'm sure they realize that they're doing something that can hurt them. They probably just think they're "safe" enough business-wise that they can do that kind of thing and still stay relatively strong PPV and ratings wise. They're definitely hypocritical when wondering where the young talent that needs to step up is, though. Miz and Drew McIntyre were stepping up before politics got in the way.

2. I like it! It could be something of a revolution with the guys with his mold who have been held back. It's just a matter of how those guys get over when the angle's over.

3. I don't know that they couldn't just switch Superstars with Main Event (like they did with ECW and NXT). Either way, international markets are paying them to show matches. I don't see why they'd give that up given where their business is.

Everything else is after the break.

AW remark gets WWE in trouble, Questions on HHH, Robbie E, Gillberg, Punk vs. Cena, and Punk turning heel, what happened after Raw, more on Raw fire, Raw viewership, and Tensai in trouble

WWE and AW have apologized for referring to Kobe Bryant's sexual assault case after TMZ picked the story up.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I think he'll keep popping up for a while as long as he's a big deal behind-the-scenes in WWE and can still draw money. His last opponent is years from now. It's kind of a shame it won't be HBK or Flair(?), and they've already kind of wrapped things up with Taker.

2. To be a "comedy jobber" as some have put it. I actually like the gimmick, but I'm probably not the most sane person to judge these things.

3. I'd mark. There's no reason they still can't do that down the line. He can say that he's heard all the chants and there's one man he needs to face to legitimize himself. I'd see some being ticked that it wasn't the "real deal" though.
