Wrestler predictions for the year 2016

Read on for some forecasts for the WWE, TNA, and ROH rosters for 2016. Select NXT talents are also featured.

As always, these are educated guesses:

Abyss - Will likely continue as something of the (ECW-era) Tommy Dreamer of TNA - the hardcore heart and soul of the company who's loyal to the end and will do his best to make sure TNA remains a thing. I see TNA using him in the Kane/Big Show role of generally getting others over and having some occasional decent pushes. He probably won't be a focal point of the booking as far as the top champion.

ACH - More flippy shit. Might hold a belt if they want him to. One of many ROH talents they'll cycle in and out of whatever.

Adam Cole - One of the few gems in ROH. They could really position him as someone worth watching/investing in. I can definitely see him as ROH Champion in 2016.

Adam Page - Continuing to try to make his mark as one of the talents trying to climb up the ranks in ROH.

Adam Rose - Unless someone on Creative really has a good reason to push him, he could just hang around doing jobs until his contract expires. I guess that's better than not getting work at all?

Aiden O'Shea - I could see him winning the KOTM Title in 2016. It certainly looked like TNA wanted to push him again. They're going to need to get new people over, and he seems like a candidate for that.

AJ Styles - A top name in ROH and wherever else he wants to go. I don't expect him to pop up in NXT in the near future if he can continue to be a big draw in places like NJPW, but stranger things have happened. Don't rule it out.

Alberto Del Rio - I expect him to at least stay employed through the end of the year. Hopefully WWE makes use of an important Latin asset. I don't expect him to be WWE Champion, but it doesn't seem out of left field.

Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin - Overrated matches as opponents, then move overrated matches as a team. Prepare to see a lot of demolition derbies against the Briscoes, the Bucks, and the Addiction that look more like circus attractions of flips than a show of teams competing to beat each other.

Alexa Bliss, Blake, and Murphy - I think WWE is at least going to give a shot to this trio on live events, dark matches, etc. I think it's possible we see the team split up, with Blake and Alexa either getting a new partner or going it without Murphy. Either way, it looks like at least Blake and Alexa are progressing to the point where it's not out of the question for them to be called up in 2016. If WWE needs a new heel team, this trio is the most likely to get the call.

Alicia Fox - I think she's a lifer for WWE. Like Natalya and Layla, she'll keep going until she doesn't want to take bumps anymore. I don't expect her to hold the Divas' Title, but she'll probably stay around unless she decides to leave wrestling behind.

Andrew Everett and Trevor Lee - Given TNA's lack of tag teams, it's pretty much inevitable they'll be champs there at some point. TNA would be crazy not to keep using them unless they've got a bunch of tag teams beating down their doors in Nashville.

Angelina Love - will miss a good amount of 2016 due to the whole pregnancy thing. If she still wants to wrestle after that, she'll remain with TNA to be with her husband. I don't expect her to be champion, but that will depend on who stays in the division and who gets hired to fill the female ranks.

Apollo Crews - MAYBE will start working dark matches and live events for the main roster by the end of 2016. I wouldn't expect him to be moved up so soon, but it's not out of the question.

Awesome Kong - Unless TNA or WWE makes her the right offer, she could very well be finishing up as a wrestler shortly. Best of luck to her with what she does next.

Baron Corbin - The "obvious" answer is him being called up to feud with Cena for a few months like Rusev and Owens before him. I definitely expect him to be called up in 2016.

Bayley - I'll be really surprised if she's still in NXT at the end of 2016. Hopefully she'll do good things on the main roster and be in the mix for the Divas' Title.

Becky Lynch - I have a bad feeling she could end up back in NXT before the end of the year. After feuding with Charlotte and Sasha, she'll just be floating around.

Beer City Bruiser - Probably working with Silas some more here and there, subject to the whims of ROH's booking. He could end up working on his own. Again, it's ROH. Who knows what they'll do?

Beretta and Rocky Romero - More appearances in ROH as RPG Vice. They could end up splitting and feuding, with Romero going to work in NXT.

Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods - I expect New Day to stay together all of 2016. If they don't, Big E could be U.S. or IC Champion by year's end. Kofi would just kind of hang out in purgatory with guys like Jack Swagger, while Xavier becomes someone else's mouthpiece. Maybe PTP? Or someone from NXT.

Big Show - I fully expect Show to remain a pretty regular presence in 2016. They might not use him as much as they have in the past, but I don't see him retiring anytime soon. There aren't many active competitors with the amount of experience he has or his size, and Vince values both.

BJ Whitmer - Hopefully he'll get a chance to step in the ring with Steve Corino, but I wouldn't count on it. Otherwise, maybe he can get Page and Colby Corino further along in their careers. They could do something with Colby getting fed up and feuding with one or the other if they want. Whitmer's one of the few characters ROH can do good stories with.

Blake - see Alexa Bliss.

Bo Dallas - They might roll the dice with Bo and give him another push, maybe under a new gimmick. Obviously they're fond of him in the goofball role. I don't see them doing something between him and the Wyatt Family unless they're really running out of ideas and really moving the Wyatts away from being a top-level threat. I think Bo fills the Santino role well.

Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly - reDRagon is apparently re-signing with ROH because they're not getting offers to leave the Island of Spot Monkeys. So, they'll keep doing MOVES. Either man (if not both) could hold singles gold in 2016, and I could see them feuding for either the TV or World Title. Putting these two in the mix with Adam Cole for title contention would be a smart move for elevating them all as stars.

Bobby Roode - one of the hardest workers in TNA. If we're going to see something of a renaissance of the company in 2016, he'll be an important part of that. I can see him being TNA Champion again. He'll almost definitely be in the mix for that title. He's very valuable.

Bram - Barring further legal trouble preventing him from competing for TNA, he'll be an important part of their plans. It's obvious he's got supporters in high places there. I can easily see him as KOTM Champion, and I wouldn't rule out him at least challenging for the World Title. It's not like they have a deep roster to pull from and push.

Braun Strowman - If WWE does decide to split the family again, he could end up in another team. I think Rowan's more likely to end up in the Vladimir Kozlov/Funkasaurus "comedy big guy" role. I don't really expect him to get a monster singles push, but hopefully they realize they can't rely on Kane, Mark Henry, and Big Show as the mastadons forever.

Bray Wyatt - I don't think they'll give up on Bray as a dominating supernatural presence just yet. It's possible he and the family gain a foothold on some titles (as they should). Maybe it's optimism on my part that they don't make him a directionless singles star again, but I hope they learned their lesson. I can see a mini-feud breaking out with LoN to give both sides something to do heading into WM32. They'd be crazy not to give it a shot.

Brie Bella - Hopefully sparing us from another feud with Nikki. I expect her to be in the Divas Title picture again by summer.

Brock Lesnar - If he's not WWE Champion in the second half of 2016, they're going to need a REALLY good reason why not. I don't expect a feud with Rock then, so they better have something else big up their sleeves. Cena? I think he'll challenge for the WWE Title at WM32, but I don't see him winning unless Reigns utterly flops as champ going into that show. A rematch at Summerslam with a gimmick attached would be big.

Brutal Bob - He'll presumably pop up here and there for the time being to add to what ROH is doing.

Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley - WWE's going to milk the Dudleys nostalgia as long as they can. I'm sure they'd love to have them feud with the Hardys one last time, but I wouldn't expect that until the end of 2016 at the earliest with Jeff's injury (if it happens at all). I don't see WWE splitting the team and giving Bubba a push unless there's nothing left to squeeze out of the Dudleys act or they desperately need him as a singles star. Even then, WWE trying to recreate Bubba's overrated TNA main event run is a slim possibility for 2016.

Cameron - Unless she really impresses at the WWE Performance Center, I can easily see WWE waiting out her contract. She might help out in NXT, but I really don't expect her to be a regular part of the main roster unless someone suddenly has an idea for her.

Caprice Coleman - ROH obviously doesn't really have anything in mind for him right now, but maybe as the year continues they'll do something with him. It doesn't look like he'll be winning any titles, but a lot can end up changing between now and the end of the year.

Carmella, Colin Cassady, and Enzo Amore - I'll be really surprised if they're still in NXT at the end of the year. There's not much of anything left for them to do down there. I'd say summer or fall would be appropriate for them to come up. WWE will need a new face tag team on the main roster by then, I suspect.

Cedric Alexander - ROH clearly has plans for him based on the current angle. I expect he'll at least be in contendership for the TV Title, and it's possible he's on his way to holding a championship there. He'll definitely be one to watch out for in the first half of the year.

Cesaro - I think him coming back from injury and wrestling Sami Zayn (possibly leading to the two of them teaming) would be well-received. As much as I'd like to say he'll be U.S. or IC Champion, I'm not 100% confident that's not just wishful thinking. I think he'll at least compete in title matches, though.

Chad Gable - I think there's a possibility he and Jason Jordan are working dark matches/live events for the main roster by the end of the year. It might be a little early to call them up if the tag team division has as many teams as it has now, but I think they'll at least get some chances to work in front of larger audiences.

Charlotte - Charlotte (heel) vs. Sasha (face) at WrestleMania is hopefully a given. I think Charlotte will be a pretty consistent presence in Divas' Title matches for 2016 and beyond. Charlotte vs. Bayley on the main roster could easily happen by the end of the year.

Cheeseburger - I think he'll keep growing as a competitor in ROH. I don't see him holding any titles, but I think he'll be seen as someone coming up through the ranks.

Chris Jericho - Pretty much guaranteed to be back in WWE in 2016, possibly as soon as the Royal Rumble. I can see him feuding with Ambrose through WM32, then Roman Reigns after then. Depending on when and how Rollins returns, that feud's a possibility, too. Y2J will almost definitely never be a full-timer for WWE again, but I think we'll be seeing him pretty regularly for a run or two in 2016.

Chris Melendez - TNA will presumably keep pushing him. I think he could easily be a tag team champion, and probably in matches for the KOTM Title. I don't think the company's giving up on making him a thing in 2016.

Chris Sabin - See Alex Shelley.

Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian - I wouldn't be surprised to see them having spotfests against each other by the end of the year if ROH runs out of spotfests for them to do as a team. Dark days are ahead.

Cliff Compton - I'm guessing he'll still pop up for ROH here and there. I'd like to see him work TNA or NXT, but I'd think that would have happened by now if it was going to. The WWE main roster seems like it will remain out of reach.

Colby Corino - I think ROH might continue molding him as a wrestler, but his future really seems in question after his dad's injury. His angle with BJ has been a lot of fun, but they can only do so much with it if the elder Corino can't take bumps.

Colin Cassady - See Carmella.

Corey Hollis - ROH likes to use him every so often, so he could continue to get work there at times and maybe even move up to being a regular. I wouldn't rule out that possibility.

Crazzy Steve - As best as I can tell, TNA will keep using him in his comedy role for the time being. I wouldn't be too surprised to see him go for some titles if they want to shake things up in that sense. I'm interested to see what happens when his contract comes due, since it doesn't look like TNA has big plans for him.

Crimson - There's no guarantee he'll be part of TNA in 2016, but I think the odds are good they'll use him given how small their roster is right now. I don't think we'll see a repeat of his initial big push, but they might roll the dice and at least put him in a title feud.

Curtis Axel - Is it pessimistic to say they'll keep using him to do jobs and fill space on live events? It certainly doesn't look like they have anything else planned for him. He's already been sent back down to NXT previously, so I don't know if they'd do that again. I'm under the impression WWE likes his abilities as a wrestler, but doesn't see anything worth pushing character-wise. Unless someone has an idea for a new tag team (on the main roster or in NXT), I think the Hulk Hogan saga might have sunk him for the time being. No word on when his contract is up, but I'd think he's "on the bubble" based on how little they use him.

D-Von Dudley - see Bubba Ray Dudley.

Dalton Castle - one of the biggest rising stars in ROH. I wouldn't be all that surprised if he held the TV Title. 2016 is going to be an important year for him. If ROH doesn't know what to do with him, hopefully someone else (NXT?) will.

Dalton Castle's Boys - I expect them to become a regular team by the end of the year. There are interesting things to do with them as characters and wrestlers. Hopefully that gets them through if they can't get by on crazy MOVES.

Damien Sandow - So, I really like Sandow, but they barely use him now. He was in WWE a decade ago as Idol Stevens, then got a second chance that led to him becoming the Intellectual Savior of the Masses. Since then he's been Damien Mizdow and Macho Mandow, with a lot of other impersonations in-between. WWE's generally not a fan of trying to reboot someone multiple times after they've disappeared from TV for long stretches. Another guy whose contract status through the year is unknown. I hope we see him show what he can do somewhere, whether that's NXT or TNA or somewhere else entirely. There's still hope for him getting another chance on TV, but it's hard to get momentum when you're just filling space on live events.

Dana Brooke - I strongly suspect she'll be on the main roster by fall. WWE will definitely try to make it happen before the end of the year. It's just a matter of when they think the stars will align for her to be successful.

Daniel Bryan - People didn't think they'd keep Christian on the shelf until his contract ended after his last concussion, but they did. They didn't think WWE would keep Rey on the shelf post-injury when he clearly wanted out of his contract to go wrestle elsewhere, but they did. Unless Bryan really fights to get cleared and work something out to get back to wrestling for WWE, they might err on the side of caution and continue their current stance of not letting him wrestle again. It's no secret they want Roman Reigns to be their next top guy instead of Bryan. They're committed to that unless circumstances force their hands again. It's going to take a serious push from Bryan and Bryan fans to show he's worth taking another chance on. Concussions are serious business, no doubt, and they don't want him to have a career-ending injury in the ring, but hopefully he does what he needs to do to be cleared by WWE doctors.

Darren Young and Titus O'Neil - I really hope WWE learned from the last time they split these two. I think it's clear they see more in Titus given how he's been booked to do more lately, but that doesn't mean they need to break the team up again. I definitely wouldn't rule it out, but I think it's obvious they do better as a duo. As for what 2016 holds, some of that is going to depend on what kind of good publicity they get outside the ring. I don't think it's any secret WWE's more likely to push people who get them positive press. It's not right in a lot of ways, but it's the way things are. In that sense, Titus could be featured a decent amount. Darren's going to have to make sure he doesn't ruffle any feathers. It will be interesting to see how PTP fares with the Usos and Dudleys back on the face side of things, and them possibly being joined by Enzo and Cass in the tag team division. PTP could be in a hard situation.

Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards - Obviously TNA doesn't have much in the way of a tag team division right now. Either the Wolves will be an important part of the "rebuilding" phase of tag team wrestling there, or TNA will jettison the whole thing and have them feud. I expect TNA is going to try to make the tag team division work in 2016, so I imagine the Wolves will stay together and be the centerpieces of that for a time.

David Otunga - Whether Otunga sticks around whenever his contract comes up depends on how happy WWE is with him in his current role and how happy he is doing it. I really don't see him getting back in the ring or having a regular traveling role unless he really pushes for it. He could just as easily stick with his current duties until either he or WWE want to go in a different direction. It's possible he's in another WWE Studios gig before his time with the company ends.

Dean Ambrose - I wouldn't be shocked to see Ambrose as WWE Champion in 2016, and possibly getting another main event run (maybe even facing Brock?). With Orton and Bryan on the shelf, they're going to need to make some new full-time top names. A heel turn is possible if they think they can actually get fans to boo him, but I don't think we'd see that unless/until Seth Rollins returns as a face. Either way, I suspect he'll be someone who becomes a bigger part of things as some of the older names and part-timers aren't around as much.

Diego, El Torito, and Fernando - I don't think WWE is done using them as jobbers just yet. They might get back on TV as heels if WWE really feels like they need another team on the division, or WWE could just drop that plot entirely and return them as faces like nothing happened. Either way, I think we've seen the last of the former Colons getting pushed. El Torito might have a future in random comedy segments and feuds, but I think Diego and Fernando might just be there as a favor to Carlos Colon and to appeal to the Latin market, because it's obvious WWE doesn't have any plans for them right now. If their contracts come up in 2016 and the Lucha Dragons are still a big deal, I think we could see the two sides part ways.

DJ Z - As best as I can tell, he'll continue to be part of the X-Division and DJing TNA live events. Another run with the X-Division Title is possible, but I'd be surprised to see him get any kind of big push.

Dolph Ziggler - Unless WWE has an extended period of time when guys like Cena, Orton, and Reigns aren't available for main events, I think Ziggler's going to stay in Christian's old role of working with the U.S./IC level guys, occasionally working in bigger roles if WWE wants him to get someone over at that level. It definitely seems like he's destined to be the guy who works with the guys they want to push. It's going to take something big to change that.

Donovan Dijak - It's possible he breaks out of the HoT and they try to make him a singles guy. He's someone worth investing in as one of the seemingly few "non-flippy" guys in ROH. If Creative there is on their games, they might have a rising star on their hands. If that does happen, I think it'll be later in the year. In the meantime, they'll keep on keeping on with him.

Drew Galloway - I think there's a very good chance he holds the KOTM Title or World Title in 2016, if not both. Unless TNA really has a lot of aces up their sleeve, he's the right fit to be one of their top acts going forward.

Eddie Edwards - see Davey Richards.

El Torito - see Diego.

Eli Drake - I think TNA will try him out in a few different roles to see what they've got with him. He could end up in another tag team or unit, as he works well in that capacity. I don't really see him holding gold in the first half of 2016, but he could get a good push as time goes on. There's potential for him to become something for TNA going forward. We'll see.

Emma - It looks like she'll remain in a supporting role in NXT and the main roster. I think it's possible she's "called back up" with Dana Brooke sometime in 2016 as something like what LayCool was. Either that or she'll find some new neophytes to work with at Full Sail (and beyond). I don't see her being released unless she wants to go work somewhere else; she's been a valuable presence in HHH's kingdom.

Enzo Amore - See Carmella.

Eric Young - He's an absolute asset for TNA. I could see him being a consistent presence in important roles for most of the year, working with the rising stars of the promotion and adding legitimacy to title matches. He could be KOTM Champion and/or World Champion in 2016 easily.

Erick Rowan - If the Wyatts do split, I think he's the likeliest candidate to end up in the "we have no idea what to do with them" pile. I could see him in one of those "odd couple" tag teams like Santino/Kozlov or SlaterGator, which could be fun. Otherwise, they might get some mileage out of him as a hoss as a face or heel. I definitely think his best bet is to stay aligned with Bray and company if he's going to stay a regular part of WWE's shows.

Ethan Carter III - Honestly, after being undefeated for so long and having already been World Champion, there's really nowhere to go but down in 2016. I think he'll be an important part of things in the World and KOTM Title pictures, but I don't think he'll dominate like he did in the DA era.

Eva Marie - I have a feeling WWE's going to keep trying to make something out of her as long as "Total Divas" is still a thing. Maybe even if that stops being a thing. So, expect to keep seeing her in NXT. She could very well get another chance at the main roster (dark matches and/or live events) by the end of 2016, if not called back up entirely. I really don't think she'll leave our screens unless she decides on a new career path.

Fandango - Hopefully he'll be kept around as a good undercard worker to do things on Superstars and Main Event. However, if WWE feels like they need to make some more spots for NXT callups and his contract expires in 2016, I don't see there being a huge uproar about letting him go somewhere else. He's one of a number of talents who are in something of a purgatory waiting for either their contract to end or for someone to decide to use him in a new way. I'd personally like to see him add to things in NXT, but that's not my call.

Fernando - see Diego.

Finn Balor - I highly expect Finn to be called up before Summerslam. I think odds are good he'll be the big post-WM32 debut this year. It's not a guarantee, but it seems really likely.

Frankie Kazarian - see Christopher Daniels.

Gail Kim - I think as long as she wants to keep wrestling, TNA will be glad to keep using her as a consistent part of the Knockouts division. If and when new Knockouts come into the company, I expect Gail will end up working with them. Before all is said and done, I think she'll be a Hall of Famer for TNA.

Goldust - He'll keep working on the main roster as long as he's able to contribute there. I almost totally expect him to go down to NXT like Rhyno and Samoa Joe, but that could be in the later part of the year if it happens in 2016. It might be a little early to say he'll head behind-the-scenes again given how great he still is as a wrestler, but I wouldn't rule it out. He can only turn back the hands of time for so long, after all.

Grado - The UK is one of TNA's biggest markets, so I expect Grado to continue to pop up and do his thing. Never say never about him holding gold in the company, possibly in a tag team. If they go that route, they could either pair him with Rockstar Spud or do one of those "how are they going to get along" kind of angles with someone like Bram. Maybe they get paired in a random Joker's Wild tournament or something and become champs that way? It could be entertaining in a bizarre way. Bram can only do his current shtick for so long.

Hanson and Raymond Rowe - As best as I can tell, ROH will keep them together for the time being. I don't really see them splitting up to feud unless ROH really starts to prefer one over the other as a singles competitor and wants to give that one a push at the other's expense. I would think the one they don't push would either get a new gimmick or would just show up sporadically and not do much of importance.

Heath Slater - While I'm hoping he continues to pop up to add some comedy, and I'd love for him to have another random undercard team, I have to think he's on the bubble whenever his contract comes up. He could be a good addition to NXT, but it looks like WWE's committed to having him fill space on live events, Main Event, and Superstars. His contract expiring would "free up a space" for an NXT talent if WWE goes with that line of thinking.

Hernandez - I see him returning to TNA soon, possibly January 5 soon. They could use another veteran performer to expand their roster. I would think he'd mainly be used to get others over, but a KOTM or tag team title reign wouldn't surprise me. He could also be part of TNA's next heel faction. Maybe he'd replace Tyrus as EC3's bodyguard?

Hornswoggle - Unless WWE has another movie role for him, he could just have a cameo here and there until his contract expires. Really, what else can be done with him as a character at this point?

J. Diesel - Random HoT guy for the time being. Maybe he'll get a chance to do something more later in the year, but I think Dijak's the one with the future. We'll see.

Jack Swagger - I'd love for WWE to use him and/or Zeb as coaches for some of NXT's amateur standouts, because that story writes itself. I don't know if the timing's right for that, but Jordan and Gable as Swagger's "Team Angle" sounds like a license to print money. Barring that or going down to NXT to work with some of their top names, I don't see him getting another character change/push. WWE might think they can replace him with a fresh NXT name and just job him out to run the clock down on his contract. Getting busted for drugs in the midst of a Wrestlemania push might have been the nail in his coffin unless someone in Creative has a killer idea that would make Management decide to give him another opportunity. I just don't see WWE giving him another title run.

Jade and Marti Bell - Really, how much more can they get out of the Dollhouse act? Unless there are new Knockouts coming in, I think the team will dissolve once/if they finish the feud with Madison and Velvet. Both Knockouts will presumably get the chance to survive on their own post-Taryn. I think Jade has more potential, but it's worth seeing what they have with both unless they have an army of aspiring Knockouts coming through the chutes in the year ahead.

Jason Jordan - see Chad Gable.

Jay and Mark Briscoe - probably pretty much the same thing they've been doing for a while now, since it doesn't look like they're headed to Orlando. Important parts of ROH as singles competitors and as a team.

Jay Lethal - I think ROH is going to get as much mileage as they can from his current title reign and presumably Jay as the head of the HoT stable. He could end up as champion for most of the year. I think no matter what he's going to be a focal point of booking going forward, and an important part of the company.

Jeff Hardy - Hardy is expected to miss most of 2016 due to injury. I have a feeling he'll be a big part of Bound For Glory one way or another (he seems really likely to be their next Hall of Famer). Jeff might be finishing up with the company in late 2016 if his contact ends by then. He definitely wants one last run in WWE. I wouldn't rule out him holding gold in TNA before it's over, though.

Jessie Godderz - I can definitely see him holding the KOTM Title at the end of the year. If they're committed to giving him a singles push, that is. He could just as easily end up in a random team and go for the gold in that division. I really don't see a Bro-Mans reunion unless their singles runs are big flops.

Jey and Jimmy Uso - almost definitely tag team champions again. I think WWE's going to use them as a top team for the foreseeable future. I'm curious if WWE would ever turn them heel. I wouldn't count on it anytime soon, but it's something to think about.

John Cena - Even if Roman gets a big face push for most of the year and Orton and Rollins come back as faces, I wouldn't assume they'd turn John heel. Unless something really changes as far as him being the public face of the company in mainstream movies and doing charity appearances, and his merchandise sells drop a large degree, I think he's going to be a consistent babyface presence. I believe he'll continue to transition out of being the main top face, but we'll probably still see him in big matches in 2016. I think there's a good chance he doesn't hold the World Title this year unless other top names are on the shelf and he's Plan B. We'll see.

Kalisto and Sin Cara - I'd like to say they have a decent chance of being tag team champs at some point in 2016. I really, REALLY hope WWE doesn't split them up and have them feud. They're a hot act as a team and there's no reason to mess with that unless one of them is leaving the company or one is destined to be their next important Latin babyface. They've got to be really careful trying to make "their next Rey Mysterio." Don't try to rush that by splitting these two before it's time.

Kane - I think Kane's going to stick around pretty much as long as WWE wants him to. I definitely don't see him retiring before Taker does. Kane's days as a full-time guy are probably numbered, but that doesn't mean he can't continue to contribute as a wrestler. I definitely wouldn't rule out him going back to being an unmasked GM figure or something given how that's been a recurring theme lately, but I think right now WWE's going to get everything they can out of the Brothers of Destruction thing. We'll see how long they can go into 2016 before going to the "Kane gets taken out by someone and misses several months" angle. They like using him to get over the next main event threat, so I expect we'll see that at some point. Maybe Kevin Owens or someone can be the next person to put him on the shelf?

Kenny King and Rhett Titus - I suppose they'll keep ANX-ing it up unless Rhett gets a chance at WWE. I don't know if they'll hold gold or not, but I think they'll stay together since they just re-formed recently.

Kevin Owens - KO should continue to be an important mid-level player, although as time goes on, they'll eventually move him into the occasional main event spot like they have with Ziggler and Ambrose. I definitely see him challenging for the WWE Title if a babyface holds onto it for a lot of the year. He's an early favorite to win MITB. He's obviously got supporters in the company, so I think we'll see him on TV regularly going forward.

King Barrett - I can see Wade competing for midcard titles, but it doesn't look like they'll push him back into main events anytime soon. He'd be a good candidate to get Zeb as a mouthpiece at some point and potentially have a chance to become something more than he is now. I don't know if they'll ever pull the trigger on something like that, but I don't see them pulling the plug on him just yet either. He's a pretty solid hand in the ring and has international appeal. I think he's safe for now.

Kofi Kingston - see Big E.

Konnor and Viktor - I think we might see them get a reboot at some point, going back to being Connor O'Brian and Rick Vicktor or something instead of this gimmick. It definitely doesn't look like they're going to win tag team gold in their current roles, which means they'll be stuck as a team that gets other teams over. Unless Stardust gets a big push and brings these two with him, that is, or someone else needs some mooks. Maybe Baron Corbin? Or Bray Wyatt?

Kurt Angle - As best as I can tell, he'll finish up with TNA at the end of January. I'll be surprised if he stays away from the ring the rest of the year unless he's gearing up to be in the 2017 Royal Rumble. Whether WWE would actually clear him is up in the air, but I know he'd want one last Mania run if they would. Of course, a TNA return later in the year could work, too. Call me cynical, but I just don't see him fully retiring yet.doesn't O'Reilly - see Bobby Fish.

Lana - I think it's inevitable she ends up getting in the ring at some point. I don't really see her becoming a full-on wrestler, though, at least not before fall at the earliest. There's an interesting angle to be done of her wanting to win the Divas' Title for Russia, but I don't know if WWE would go for it in 2016 unless they were confident in her in-ring abilities. Unless there's a REALLY good reason to split her from Rusev again (like a real-life split covered by TMZ), I think the two of them will stay together.

Lashley - He could easily be a top player for TNA again in 2016 if his MMA schedule doesn't conflict with anything. The KOTM and World Title are within reach unless TNA gets a big-name signing that pushes the current main eventers down the list. I expect he'll continue to be an asset.

Luke Harper - if any of Bray's followers is going to be a success on their own, it's Harper. I wouldn't totally rule out him winning MITB or another midcard title. I also wouldn't be surprised with a face turn where he "sees the light" or something. Keep an eye on Luke in 2016 and beyond.

Madison Rayne - A lot of Madison's future depends on the future of the division as a whole. If Awesome Kong and/or Velvet Sky leave and they don't get a number of new Knockouts coming in, Madison stands a decent chance at being a cornerstone of the division. Otherwise she's probably just going to be a supporting character.

Mahabli Shera - Given the importance of India as a market going forward, I pretty much expect Shera to be KOTM Champion at some point this coming year . Maybe even challenging for the World Title. Get used to the Shera Shake because I don't think he's going away.

Mandrews - I see very little chance of him holding gold unless TNA does another tour of the UK later in the year. Even then, I think Rockstar Spud or Grado are higher on the list. Certainly Bram and Galloway are. I think he has a good chance of staying around due to winning British Boot Camp, but I don't expect a big push for him.

Manik - If he thinks he can make more money somewhere else as TJ Perkins, I think he might give it a go. That's easier said than done, of course, but he's been pretty open about not wanting to be Manik anymore. At any rate, if he is with TNA all year, he could be X-Division champion again. Unless more flippy guys are coming in, he's one of few viable contenders for the title. Tigre Uno can't be champion forever, right?

Maria Kanellis and Michael Bennett - I think they could be in TNA as soon as the Pop debut. If Taven joins them in a few months, I think them teaming up and taking the titles is a given. Otherwise, I think Bennett's in for a fine singles push. Maybe even a KOTM Title reign if they really like him.

Mark Briscoe - see Jay Briscoe.

Mark Henry - He's pretty openly said he's hanging up the boots this summer. The angle with Cena about his contract ending had some truth to it; he signed a three-year deal that ends in 2016. I think he might win the Andre battle royal as a nice send-off, and maybe even get one last PPV main event against the champion post-WM32 if he's up for it (or he could feud with Roman in a non-title feud if Reigns doesn't leave Dallas with the gold). But I definitely think he's done as a wrestler this year, transitioning into a backstage role.

Marti Bell - see Jade.

Matt Hardy - I expect Matt will continue to be a top face in TNA if he re-signs in February. TNA will make every effort to see that he does re-sign, as they should. He's one of the most valuable people there, and that will be even more apparent with Angle leaving and Jeff being on the shelf. I think there's a good chance he wins the World Title and holds it for a time, and maybe even the KOTM Title. There's a story to be told with him trying to show the X-Division stars how to do the style he innovated in OMEGA, but I don't think they'll risk turning him heel and moving him down the card unless they really have someone else as a bankable main event face. A Matt/Jeff feud is possible, but I don't see TNA wanting to turn either side heel given their popularity.

Matt and Nick Jackson - These two clowns will continue to do circus acts on the indie scene for the time being. There's nothing new to say about them, and they already get way too much attention. Moving on.

Matt Sydal - More flippy shit. He's been back in ROH long enough to where he's not the new "former WWE star returning to the indies," so he's just back in the pack of spotmonkeys. I don't really see him winning a title, but it's not out of the question.

Matt Taven - He might just get lost in the shuffle in ROH for a while. He certainly has the opportunity to rejoin Bennett and Maria in TNA in 2016 if that's his goal. I don't see NXT picking him up. It'll be interesting to see if he can break out from the pack as a singles guy, but I think his best chance is to make the jump to TNA.

Micah - It doesn't look TNA's going to give him a push anytime soon, so his best bet might be to be put in another random tag team. He looks destined for jobberdom unless something suddenly catches fire with a new partner or gimmick.

Michael Bennett - see Maria Kanellis.

Michael Elgin - If NXT or TNA or somewhere else makes him a good offer, I think he's prepared to leave ROH. We just don't know if either of those entities would be willing to make that offer. I'd like to see it. Otherwise, he'll continue to float around ROH as a veteran, maybe getting some title shots here and there. I see him in kind of a Randy Orton role there. He's been there and done that, so now he's just there adding credibility to other feuds.

Mike Posey - Presumably he'll keep popping up for ROH here and there when they need to shuffle someone in to work a date, something like Blue Pants does in NXT. I don't really see him getting a big push anywhere, but I think we'll still see him in action at some point.

The Miz - Another guy I expect to be a WWE lifer, especially as long as WWE Studios is a priority. I don't anticipate him getting a big push or long title reign, but I think we're going to be seeing him in WWE for a good time to come. It's possible they put him in another tag team, although that didn't exactly work well for Sandow and Riley when WWE didn't know what to do in the follow-up.

Mojo Rawley - There's a decent chance WWE gives him a shot at dark matches and main roster live events, presumably working with Zack Ryder. They seem pretty determined to make something of him. He reminds me of Bo Dallas from a few years back in that regard. As for actually making it to the main roster by the end of the year, I don't know if WWE is THAT confident in his abilities. He could work Main Event or Superstars, but that's about as far as I think he'll make it this year.

Moose - As much as I'd like to say he'll be TV or Tag Team Champion by the end of the year, I'm not 100% sure ROH will pull the trigger in that regard. I definitely think they'll give him a chance to rise through the ranks, though, so it's not all that far-fetched we'll see it this year or next. I know some people expect WWE to come calling at some point, but I don't know if we're going to see that just yet.

Mr. Anderson - I think he's another guy in the Randy Orton/Kane/Big Show role of long-term veteran primarily there to work with other names. He might get something of a push here and there, but I don't see him holding gold as a long-term thing. I do think he'll stick around for the time being due to his name value and his years of service. His days taking bumps are numbered, but I don't know if we'll see 2016 as his last year.

Murphy - see Alexa Bliss.

Naomi - Something of a veteran in the Divas' division, working with the NXT call-ups. I could see her feuding for the Divas' Title again, particularly later in the year after Sasha wins the title. I don't really see her holding it for a long-time unless it's to give someone like Sasha an antagonist to face, but I think she'll be in the mix in the division doing important things.

Natalya - I think she'll continue to help out the other Divas on the main roster and in NXT, as well as staying a part of "Total Divas." It looks like the days of her being pushed are over with so many newer names in the division, but I don't think she's retiring this year. It's not out of the question, though, given her current reduced role there.

Neville - I can see him being U.S., IC, or Tag Team Champion by year's end. I think he could be the next Kofi Kingston as far as doing high-flying stuff in the undercard and midcard. Putting him in a team could be interesting and also make him more important than he is by himself, but that's not necessarily a given. I definitely think he's someone who will stick around and be fairly important.

Nia Jax - I wholly expect her to at least get a chance at moving up from NXT. She's got something most other Divas don't, and could add to things higher up. She needs more experience, but WWE might be willing to overlook that to a degree if they think she can contribute in an important way (like getting revenge on Stephanie on behalf of Roman). I don't necessarily see her holding the NXT Women's Championship, since she could have to drop it quickly upon being called up.

Nick Jackson - see Matt Jackson.

Nikki Bella - I'm going to guess she'll be cleared and back in the mix by the end of the year. I don't expect her to be champion again, but I definitely don't think it can be ruled out. She'll almost certainly remain an important part of things after coming back.

ODB - If ROH doesn't have any plans for her, I could see TNA bringing her back to bolster the Knockouts division. I strongly doubt WWE would pick her up, but I also doubt we've seen the last of her. She could hold the KO Title if TNA does pick her back up, or just make some more cameos in ROH.

Paige - I assume she'll hold the Divas' Title again by the end of the year, and probably turn face again. It wouldn't shock me if she turned face only to turn heel later in 2016, given how things have gone for her so far. I definitely think she'll be an important part of the division going forward, especially as "Total Divas" remains on TV.

R-Truth - WWE loves using him for comedy segments, so I think we'll see that continue. He could end up in another comedy tag team. I'd love to see him paired with Slater, Fandango, Axel, or Sandow in that kind of thing. It's not like any of them are doing anything else, and the gimmicks would mesh in interesting ways. I also miss Little Jimmy, but I think he's moved on to other things. I think WWE's going to keep using Truth, but probably not in a major role unless he's retiring and they want to give him a big send-off.

Randy Orton - He's expected to miss a lot of 2016 due to surgeries, but I think he'll jump right back in and contribute to the rise of people like Ambrose, Roman, Owens, etc.. I don't think he'll hold gold unless they're in a bind and need him as champion to get to another story point, but I think it's a pretty sure thing he'll be an important player going forward.

Raymond Rowe - see Hanson.

Rebel - If she still wants to wrestle, I think TNA will keep trying to make something out of her. If she holds the title, it'll be later in the year and after she's really worked for it. Otherwise, I guess she'll hang around in the lower ranks of the division until she's more comfortable in the ring and TNA thinks they can trust her with a push.

Rhett Titus - see Kenny King.

Rockstar Spud - I can certainly see Spud holding a title in 2016. Probably not the World Title, but I think TNA likes what they have with him and will keep using him regularly. With the UK as a big market for them, Spud's future is pretty secure.

Roderick Strong - Strong will probably have a pretty good reign as TV Champion, and remain an important player for ROH all year long. He's called "Mr. ROH" for a reason, and it doesn't look like NXT or TNA are interested in picking him up. So, expect to see him on Comet for the foreseeable future.

Roman Reigns - WWE's committed to making him their next centerpiece star. I think they're going to keep putting him in title matches and important feuds until he succeeds to the degree Sheamus, Del Rio, and Orton have. There's very little chance he reaches the rank John Cena's at in 2016, but unless he does something to really get buried, they're going to commit to him as a top name. 2016 might be a rough year for him, but I think they'll eventually succeed in making him a reliable and consistent main eventer. It's too early to say anything beyond that.

Rosa Mendes - Unless she voluntarily retires after pregnancy, I think she's going to be able to stick around all of 2016. WWE will likely try to make her a manager again when she comes back if she's interested in remaining on TV. For some reason I want to see her paired with the Hype Bros.

Rusev - I think there's a good chance he holds gold again in 2016, or at least competes for it. Roman vs. Rusev for the WWE Title sounds like a pretty safe bet to get Reigns further over by beating another obstacle. He would also be a great antagonist for someone like Sami Zayn or another smaller wrestler with a lot of moxie. So, I think he'll be a pretty regular part of the roster if he can avoid injuries and TMZ.

Ryback - The Ryback seems like a fairly likely U.S. or IC Champion in 2016. Another guy they could put in a tag team if they run out of things for him to do as a singles guy. Pairing him with Daniel Bryan would work if they don't trust Bryan with a bigger singles push. Of course, that would mean Bryan gets cleared...

Sami Zayn - If he doesn't make a surprise appearance in the Rumble to feud with KO going into Mania, they've got to debut him the night after WM32, right? He just needs to shake off some ring rust and he could end up being a solid player higher up. I can definitely see him winning the U.S. or IC Title soon after being called up. He's someone with a really bright future if he doesn't get another freak injury.

Samson Walker - If WWE doesn't come calling, I suppose we'll see him show up in ROH here and there with the other enhancement talents. I don't really see him becoming a bigger part of things there.

Santino Marella - I think there's a good possibility he's taken his last bump. Other than some comedy segments and promotional appearances, I don't think we'll see his name pop up in regard to wrestling. He's already working on his post-WWE career, so it's just a matter of when his contract ends.

Sasha Banks - I really see her winning the Divas Title from Charlotte before the summer's over. Then MAYBE losing it to Bayley later in the year if the stars align with the current NXT Women's Champion debuting later in the year. I certainly see her breaking away from Team B.A.D. to be a success on her own.

Seth Rollins - I see him coming back as a face and looking to take back the WWE Championship in the second half of 2016. But from whom? That'd be a good ending to Reigns or Ambrose being champion, but I don't think either of those names should be heels. Maybe The Authority brings Seth back, he wins the title, THEN turns face?

Shane Helms - There's a good chance he comes after the X-Division Title. Him coming in to work with the less-experienced (on the big stage) names would be a great use of the veteran.

Sheamus - He has a decent chance of holding a singles title again before the end of the year. Actually, Sheamus as The Authority's corporate champion against the returning Seth Rollins or Daniel Bryan would be a sound plan.

Silas Young - It seems inevitable he'll be a supporting player and an undercard name, but I think he does that well. Working with younger names to get them further along as workers isn't a bad spot.

Sin Cara - see Kalisto.

Stardust - I know there are people who want him to go back to being Cody Rhodes, but it looks like this character's sticking around. Another name who wouldn't be out of place holding a title, although WWE seems pretty content to keep the Rhodes half-brothers away from any kind of real push. Unless Stephen Amell comes back through, I don't see Stardust being a major player on TV.

Sting - Sting thinks he's got some more gas in the tank, but we'll have to see if doctors agree. WWE's going to be careful about clearing him, and really careful about putting him in the ring with someone with a high-impact style. He might be best served taking a HoF nod at WM32 and staying away from taking bumps.

Summer Rae - I've expected to see more of Summer Rae in the ring. Presumably at some point WWE will run out of ideas for Summer Breeze and have Tyler dump her. Hopefully then we'll see her as a wrestler. For 2016, though, I suspect they'll remain together. At least until Survivor Series or so.

Taeler Hendrix - Presumably she'll compete for ROH. It just might not be on TV/PPV. Unless ROH does really good business on TV, I wouldn't count on them adding a second hour or anything like that. So, a full-on women's division is probably going to remain out of reach in 2016.

Takaaki Watanabe - As best as I can tell, he'll keep working for ROH. I don't really see him holding gold, but I think he'll remain a part of things.

Tamina - I definitely don't see WWE playing off her last name going forward given her dad's legal issues. I don't know how much longer she intends to wrestle, but there's a distinct possibility she could be "replaced" by Nia Jax as the dominant Samoan Diva. Once that happens, she's probably less viable as someone to utilize. We'll see how much mileage she has left as a character and performer. I wouldn't rule out her finishing up in 2016.

Taryn Terrell - I imagine she'll stay an important part of the division, and potentially champion again, if she sticks around as a wrestler. I expect Dollhouse to break up and feud like the Beautiful People before them. I'm not sold on Jade or Marti Bell breaking out as stars since we haven't seen much of them in TNA, but Taryn's almost certainly going to still be important as a singles wrestler. It's possible she'll end up as a face again by the end of the year, depending on how things shake out with any new Knockouts coming in to work. Taryn's an ideal candidate to pass on knowledge to new hires as a veteran.

Tigre Uno - TNA really likes him as X-Division Champion, so I think he'll stay in the mix for the title and someone they're committed to pushing. I don't know if he'll go higher up the card like Joe, Styles, or Daniels, but for now I think he'll be a consistent "popcorn match"/throw a bunch of moves together guy. TNA's in his corner.

Titus O'Neil - see Darren Young.

Tommy Dreamer - Will likely be in the ring for WWE, TNA, and HOH. TNA would definitely benefit from having the veteran compete. Their roster's really taken some hits in 2015. The odds of him signing a full-time WWE deal are slim; HOH is his future.

Trevor Lee - See Andrew Everett.

Triple H - I think he could end up in the ring at several big shows this year, like Taker in 2015. WM32 is pretty much a certainty, and some PPVs in that general area (Fastlane and/or Extreme Rules) are likely, too. I think there's a good possibility he wrestles all three former Shield members in singles matches by the end of WM33. Him facing Rock at WM32 is a strong possibility if Roman's facing Brock and Ambrose is doing something else lower on the card; you know Haitch is all about wrestling the biggest star possible.

Tyler Breeze - I hate to say it, but we might be looking at the next Fandango or Adam Rose as far as upward mobility is concerned. I'd love to see him win the U.S. Title or something by the end of the year, but he's off to a rough start. It doesn't look like Creative knows what to do with him and where to put him on the card. An oddball tag team isn't out of the question while they figure out how he fits into things.

Tyrus- I think Tyrus has a pretty good chance of making a run for the TNA Title. He could be a fairly important contender in main events for a lot of the year. I see him breaking away from EC3 in a face turn, possibly at the next set of TV tapings. I'd be a little surprised for him to actually hold the top title, but I wouldn't rule out him holding some gold before year's end.

Tyson Kidd -  I really hope he's back by the end of the year, but it's not a guarantee. I wouldn't assume he'll end up back in the tag team picture with Cesaro. They could end up feuding instead. Or Tyson could just be stuck in purgatory because they don't know what to do with him. It's really up in the air and depends on how he recovers and when.

The Undertaker - I know for a while now people have been calling for Taker's retirement at WM32, but I don't think he'll go for it unless he's absolutely 100% committed to hanging up the boots. If he thinks he has more matches in him, I wouldn't assume he's taking his final bow just yet. Bray or Sheamus seem likely for adversaries, since he's faced pretty much everyone else. I'd love to see Taker vs. Cena, but I don't know if WWE would pull the trigger on that. Especially if they can think of something with Cena working with someone still coming up through the ranks. I think Taker's still got some big matches left in him, so we might have to push back those retirement speculations until WM33 or later.

Velvet Sky - I know Bubba Ray Dudley wants her to make the jump to WWE, but I don't know if WWE would be interested. What TNA does with her depends on how valuable they see her going forward. With no chance of "Bully Ray" coming back anytime in the near future, the company might not find her as someone necessary to keep around going forward. She's definitely one of their most popular performers, and that's only going to be more true if Awesome Kong and any other high-profile Knockouts leave. Unless TNA has other Knockouts lined up to carry the division going forward, it might not be in the plans to part ways with her just yet.

Viktor - see Konnor.

Will Ferrara - Another ROH guy doing ROH things, I guess. He doesn't seem like someone they really plan on pushing, but I think he'll stick around and continue to contribute.

Xavier Woods - see Big E.

Zack Ryder - I think being paired with Mojo Rawley is his best hope of remaining part of plans going forward. There's an OK chance of the Hype Bros being a main roster act this coming year, and that would mean we see more of the Long Island broski. Other than that, he seems like someone they'll keep around for the occasional NYC pop and to job. I don't see him finishing up with WWE this year unless the teaming with Mojo really goes south.

Zeb Colter - It doesn't look like they'll put him with Swagger again. I'd love to see him paired with Cesaro again when the Swiss star recovers, but I'm not holding my breath. I imagine we'll see Zeb paired with someone else before 2016 comes to a close. If it's not Jordan and Gable or Dash and Dawson, it could be someone unexpected in a reboot of his character and theirs.

Main Event Reax - 12/30/15, WWE live event notes, Interview with Angle, more on Vince's arrest, another ROH prospect, Raw audience, another NXT sellout, the next WWE Network live event special, and Questions on revenge on Steph, Hogan's politics, looking back at 2005, WWE the brand vs. individual performers, and planning out spots

Main Event:
Yes, I'm still salty Slater was just on Raw to get a KO punch from Big Show.

- Slater vs. Truth:
I like a fun undercard match.

This is going pretty well so far. It's been weird not having NXT or ROH this week, so I've been looking forward to more wrestling.

This has got some good psychology to it.

Nice match overall.

Didn't Titus use to have a tag team partner?

- Titus vs. Rose:
I like Titus' style. Rough but effective.

Rose is doing fine as Titus' crash test dummy, for whatever that's worth.

- Swagger vs. Goldust:
This is a pretty good match so far.

I appreciate the psychology in this match.

Both wrestlers are really sound.

Nice match.

What happened after Raw, another Brock house show, build to the Rumble begins, Lilian update, and another entrant in ROH's tournament

After Raw, John Cena and Roman Reigns faced off before Sheamus, Del Rio, and Rusev came out. The two faces teamed up to run off the heels. I wonder how long they can go before Cena and Reigns  have a match against each other (both as faces). I think it's too early to plan it. They don't want fans to have to choose which face they prefer. Roman's still pretty new as a main eventer; I think Cena would win with the target audience. That's not what they want to happen. I think when that match does happen (WM33?), it should be part of a passing of the torch to Roman as the face of the company. Moving to the "Roman Era" is going to take some time and effort.

Brock Lesnar vs. Sheamus is set for a Jan. 8 live event. Why is this not on the Network!? The only thing I can think of to justify it is if WWE is testing out who Brock's next big opponent should be on a smaller scale before doing it somewhere like WM32.

Big Show is officially the first entrant in the 2016 Royal Rumble. Hopefully someone gets a big moment out of eliminating him so there's a silver lining to that cloud. If WWE thought the "please retire" chants were doing to go away, they're wrong.

Lilian Garcia missed Raw due to losing her voice. That's obviously pretty important to her job. I hope she recovers soon.

ROH has announced Punisher Martinez as the third participant in their Top Prospect Tournament. I can't really find any info on him other than that. The winner of the tournament gets an ROH contract and a shot at the TV Title.

More wrestling tomorrow.

Raw note, GFW on tour again, Cena press, another NXT show set for big market, another potential ROH top prospect, Rock at WM32, WWE Title match set for next week, Raw injury, and Questions on booking Bayley, New Day compared to Rock, ROH's profitability, turning Charlotte heel, and slapping Steph

Ric Flair and Santino Marella were originally set to appear on Raw. I don't think the show really needed them unless they wanted Santino to be part of MizTV. I'm guessing they didn't want him taking a bump from Show's KO punch when he's not cleared to get back in the ring. That was such a downer ending.

GFW will run shows in the Northeast in January, including a combined show with Pro Wrestling Syndicate. The Jarretts, Sonjay Dutt, Colt Cabana, Bobby Roode, and Brian Myers (Curt Hawkins) are all set for the show. So, GFW's still a thing. I really think TNA should make use of some of their roster in 2016 as they rebound from so many departures.

John Cena is in the January cover of Muscle and Fitness, and is interviewed inside. He's made a lot of headway into the mainstream lately.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Raw Reax - 12/28/15

Read on for my thoughts on last night's Raw.

WWE live event notes, Nikki update, World Title Series episodes online, Darren Young update, wrestling legend biopic moves ahead, and Questions on Bryan at the Rumble, Stephanie's slapping, NXT tag teams, Heel Dixie turning away viewers, Dijak in WWE, Network originals, getting non-fans to watch wrestling, Brock at a live event, and the end of Hulkamania

In a pretty random tag team match on live events this weekend, Fandango/Curtis Axel/Damien Sandow/Zack Ryder/Darren Young beat The Ascension/Los Matadores/Heath Slater. Titus wasn't on that live event loop, for whatever reason, and there was no report of El Torito being at ringside. I'm interested in what 2016 holds for Los Matadores and PTP.

Titus O'Neil worked a separate live event, beating Stardust. That's the first time I remember PTP working separate shows. It's worth noting.

Big Show beat Mark Henry at MSG, so those two are active for the time being. I wouldn't be surprised to see Show start appearing at least fairly regularly again.

Tommy Dreamer also worked MSG, teaming with the Dudleys to beat Strowman/Harper/Rowan. He's booked for live events through a lot of January.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

WWE sellouts, Chyna misses advertised date, Vince-TV update, and Questions on '80s names in the WWE Hall, the '93 Rumble, WCW in MSG, WWE HQ, and another Foley match

Monday's Raw in Brooklyn has sold out. More tickets might be released the day of the show, but as of now, it's all full. That's great!

The 2016 Royal Rumble is also entirely sold out. Hopefully things start heating up for the company again after a real slump in the last few months of 2015.

Chyna missed an indie event due to reported heavy abdominal pain. She was replaced by Billy Gunn, Mickie James, and Magnus. There was skepticism over how genuine her reasons for missing the show were. I hope she's OK physically and emotionally.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Saturday, December 26, 2015

ROH names at Tokyo Dome show, NJPW name added to ROH anniversary, next YouShoot released, former WWE tag team champion injured, Angle to appear on popular show, Tribute audience, AWA legends at Raw, NXT to look back at 2015, and Questions on Sweet Zig Music, Slammy absences, changing ring names, wrestlers wearing gloves, and breaking Punk's record

ROH talents set for the Jan. 4 Tokyo Dome show:
- ROH World Champion Jay Lethal defending against Michael Elgin
- AJ Styles competing for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship
- KUSHIDA going for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship
- The Briscoes team with Toru Yano to go for the NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Titles
- reDRagon defend the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Titles against the Young Bucks, RPG Vice, and the team of Ricochet and Matt Sydal.

I expect more interaction between ROH and NJPW in 2016.

KUSHIDA will be part of ROH's 14th anniversary show. He's also been added to the TV taping after that. Again, ROH and NJPW are pretty tight. That will almost definitely continue to be the case going forward.

TNA preparing for Pop, Cesaro update, WWE alters medical policy, and Questions on Slammy Awards voting, the 2016 HoF class, Dreamer's WWE status, and Tito Santana

TNA will be showing review episodes of the World Title Series online ahead of their Pop debut.

New talents are expected to debut for TNA at their next TV tapings. Michael Bennett and Maria could easily be among them after their ROH departures. TNA could definitely use some new performers to add to their roster. Hopefully they'll continue working with GFW to help with that.

Cesaro is set to undergo additional rehab and tests in January. He has been rehabbing at the WWEPC lately. He's expected to miss another three to five months, so WM32 is likely out of the picture. I hope he comes back strong. Maybe he'll get to work with Sami Zayn on the main roster when he returns?

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

ROH and Main Event Reax - 12/24/15

Read on for my thoughts on yesterday's ROH and Main Event.

TNA doing live PPV, first Top Prospect tournament participant, Smackdown audience, TNA special audience, and Questions on NXT talents being called up, Vince then vs. now, TNA's final DA shows, Silas vs. Dalton, and Mauro Ranallo

TNA will do a live One Night Only PPV on Jan. 8 from Bethlehem, PA. This is where they'll tape Impact in preceding days that week.

House of Hardcore graduate and MMA veteran "Action" Ben Ortiz will be in ROH's Top Prospect tournament. He has appeared on ROH TV previously, so this isn't especially surprising.

Smackdown's live audience Tuesday night was 2.27 million. I expect some people will wait to watch until Christmas Eve, since they're used to watching on Thursdays. Otherwise, the show probably would have drawn a better audience.

Everything else from Wednesday is after the break.

WM33 update, more from the Flairs, preview of first Smackdown of 2016, Raw injury, Jeff Hardy update, Zeb note, Raw audience, and Questions on a Divas MITB, Bubba Ray as a top name in WWE, Stephanie getting comeuppance, turning Cena heel, and Reigns on SportsCenter

There is no confirmation of Wrestlemania 33 being held in Minneapolis, or anywhere else for that matter. While that's the popular speculation, it is not set in stone.

Ric Flair is set for next week's Raw. I expect him to be a semi-regular part of things for the time being.

WWE is advertising two steel cage matches for the Jan. 5 Smackdown taping. This will be the debut on USA. Cage matches used to be a really big deal. They're still pretty cool, though.

Charlotte is on the cover of Muscle & Fitness Hers. That's great! I think she'll be good for getting publicity for WWE after that and the Tapout spots.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Read on for my thoughts on last night's Smackdown.

Tuesday, December 22, 2015

WWE live event notes, ROH names competing for new NJPW title, guests for ROH, new GM for ROH, Interview with Kenny, CHIKARA head on the art of wrestling, ROH seeking new stars, Cena TV return set, and Questions on a Cruiserweight division, a Taker tell-all, Bayley vs. Sasha, reuniting the Shield as faces, and removing Trump vs. Pete Rose

At a live event this weekend, Sheamus was helped to the back after his match with Roman Reigns, leading to speculation of him being hurt.

Update: Sheamus, thankfully, was just selling. He's fine.

John Laurinaitis was on-hand at a live event this weekend, seated near the entrance. He got some "People Power" chants here and there. I'm guessing he was the agent on-hand for the show.

The Briscoes, teaming with Toru Yano, will be competing for NJPW's brand new Never Openweight Six Man Title on Jan. 4. I have no idea what the first part of that means, but we'll see how Mark and Jay do.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Monday, December 21, 2015

Brock at live event, two ROH departures, big TNA special set for Pop TV, TNA sets big matches for UK, and Questions on a legends championship, Stand Back, Vince taking over NXT, injured wrestlers working on Creative, and fan chants

Brock Lesnar took on Alberto Del Rio at a live event this weekend. Rusev ran in for the DQ, so Brock destroyed them both. I'd love to see either of those matches one-on-one.

Tommy Dreamer teamed Kane and the Dudleys to beat the Wyatts at a live event, too.

Michael Bennett and Maria Kanellis have left Ring of Honor after the most recent TV tapings. They are likely also done with NJPW. It is believed they are headed to TNA. I'm curious how they'll do there. It will be good to have some fresh blood on Impact.

There were rumors of Matt Taven also being done with ROH. He is signed to the company for another three or four months, so he won't be joining those two in TNA or elsewhere at this time. It will be interesting to see if he joins his tag team partners elsewhere or if he tries to make it in a different role in ROH. He could end up teaming with Adam Cole, or ROH could just drop the Kingdom gimmick entirely.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Sunday, December 20, 2015

Injury at Final Battle, more on Jan. 4 NJPW show, more markets for ROH, ROH TV preview, Ryan earns a sponsorship, another big NXT sellout, new WWE signing, and Questions on Final Battle vs. Star Wars, HHH at Takeover, Continental Championship Wrestling, and Austin-WM32

Matt Taven suffered a knee injury during Final Battle, leading to the tag team title match being cut down about five minutes. No word on if he'll miss any further time.

AJ Styles was icing his neck after the PPV, but isn't believed to have hurt himself worse. Before the show, he was expected to take time off until the big Jan. 4 show in Japan. I imagine he's still set to work that.

The Briscoes will be working the Jan. 4 Tokyo Dome show. ROH will be a big part of that show.

ROH will return to Philly in March. It's a big market for them.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Interview with Dr. Tom, NXT sellouts, Smackdown audience, and Questions on standing up to Stephanie, WWE's new announcer, HHH returning, and Roman's mic skills

Dr. Tom Prichard talked about working in WWE's developmental system. He was really well-liked and seen as very knowledgeable. That angle sounds REALLY intense, which is really missing at times in today's "sports entertainment." There's no way WWE would do blatant choking or blood in 2015. I agree with their reasoning, but it definitely doesn't seem like "rasslin" in a lot of ways anymore.

Update: Here's the clip they were discussing. That was some really heavy shit.

NXT's debut in Chicago sold out it less than a minute. That is absolutely phenomenal. They're going to be touring more in 2016. I hope NXT continues to be a hit.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Crowe/Callihan update, more on Reigns as champ, ESPN-WWE update, TNA audience, unexpected run-in, TNA moving to Pop early, and Questions on Reigns not signing a new deal, who wins the Rumble, Stampede on the Network, and improving ratings

Sami Callihan, formerly Solomon Crowe in NXT, is returning to EVOLVE in Orlando next month. I hope he has a solid next leg of his career. There's nothing to say he won't end up back in WWE or another major promotion at some point.

Roman Reigns winning the WWE Championship (and leaving the arena without losing it) was picked up by the Minnesota Vikings. Imagine only holding the Heisman for five minutes and fifteen seconds.

ESPN stated on the record they're not being paid by WWE to cover the company. There was nothing to suggest that was the case, but I hope it's cleared up now.

UK legend at Takeover, Interview with Balor, title match set for live Smackdown, more on new Vegas promotion, what happened after Takeover, TNA-Pop update, and Questions on Bryan taking a student, how the NWA worked, why Reigns has supporters, and Charlotte's heel turn

The UK's Johnny Saint was at Takeover:London, leading to speculation he'll work with NXT going forward. The brand is obviously getting a lot of international attention with some of the signings and guests they've had.

Finn Balor talked about leaving NJPW for NXT. I think he's been a really good addition, and he has a bright future in NXT and WWE. I hope we see big things from him and some of NXT's other big international/indie signings.

Next week's live edition of Smackdown will feature New Day defending the WWE Tag Team Championship against the Lucha Dragons. That should be pretty good.

Another WWE injury, ROH TV taping note, more on Rollins, Rock-WM32 update, Dreamer note, Interview with new WWE announcer, more on Foley's criticism of WWE, Raw audience, Regal heads back home, more Slammy candidates, Payback 2016 details, Total Divas vs. TNA, new WWE trademark?, Former WWE staff member passes, note on earlier seasons of NXT, and Questions on Joe vs. Lesnar, Charlotte as a heel, Trump in the HoF, 2015 WWE as the end of WCW, and Breaking Ground

King Barrett has suffered an injury, believed to be related to his arm or shoulder. I don't remember the last time this many competitors were on the shelf. It might be time to reach out to some former stars to fill some gaps, like they've done with Rhyno and Dreamer.

Update: Barrett is rehabbing nerve damage in his neck. He'll likely stay out of physical roles for a while.

Added to the TV taping following Final Battle:
- Adam Cole vs. Michael Elgin
- Moose vs. Jay Lethal vs. Dalton Castle vs. Matt Sydal
- Adam Page vs. Mark Briscoe

ROH Final Battle will be available on the Flipps app and Playstation Network, as well as plenty of illegal streams.

Stone Cold podcast Reax, What happened after TLC, NXT guests, Raw promotion, Smackdown announcer change official, Tribute press, new big town for NXT show, another American name to LU, Slammys voting begins, more on new WWE announcer, what happened after Raw, and Questions on assigning wrestlers to Creative members, using NXT callups, Sting vs. Taker, comedy guys getting pushed, and lewd chants

Stone Cold podcast:
- HBK getting to be with his family now is a real plus after such a long and illustrious career on the road.

- Pretty heavy stuff about Shawn's son.

- HBK vs. Flair was something really, really special.

- Damn. Shawn really sticking it to Bret there.

- Funny to see where HHH is now given all the heat he had after the Curtain Call.

- HHH is definitely poised to do great things behind-the-scenes.

- Cool to see what Shawn thinks of today's talents.

NXT live event note, more on ROH working with PWG, TNA-DA updates, WWE Network outages, WWE hires new announcer for Smackdown, Dreamer-WWE update, and Questions on Bryan returning, another Aftermath name to WWE, and HHH at WM32

Sami Zayn has continued to work NXT title matches on the UK tour. Hopefully he's competing for the U.S. and IC Titles in 2016.

ROH has confirmed an agreement exists with PWG allowing ROH-contracted talents to work a number of PWG shows. Of course, ROH bookings will get priority, but it lets fans of PWG see some of their favorite talents in-person more often, and it lets some ROH stars get more bookings.

TNA is currently only scheduled to air at 11 p.m. on Dec. 16, with no airing set for Dec. 23. The World Title Series will continue and conclude on Jan. 5 on Pop. There are some other matches taped for what's left of their DA run, but nothing that will affect major storylines.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Sunday, December 13, 2015

Superstars Reax - 12/12/15, ROH-PWG working agreement set, more on recent NXT live event, Trump-HoF update, Interview with Rey, Rollins on NXT's growth, Takeover at WM32 weekend, more on wrestling in India, Bryan working on return, Rey joins LU, and Questions on JJ/Gable on the main roster, Y2J returning, and early ROH

Superstars:
Jesus, how many times have we gotten this match now? I guess it's better than another Rosebush segment.

- Rose vs. Fandango:
Fandango's a pretty solid worker, I think.

Fine match for filling time.

Hey, Darren Young does still get bookings!

- D. Young vs. Dallas:
I think Dallas is kind of overdoing the celebration here. It's wearing a little thin at this point.

OK, Darren doing his own lap was pretty funny.

Darren showing some fun personality here. I like it.

Bo's not a bad wrestler. He's not great, but he's not bad, either.

This is going pretty well.

Good enough ending.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

WWE TLC preview

Read on for how I'd book tonight's WWE special event.

Network-Japan update, new match for Final Battle, future ROH guests, WM32 gets perks, ECW-Network update, Interviews with Bryan/Ryan, more on ESPN Flair doc, Smackdown audience, Regal returns, Stardust working on Dusty project, and Questions on Bryan not getting cleared, Bishop's release, Ghostbusters, WWE's hierarchy, and commentary

WWE is launching in Japan on Jan. 5. That's a big market for them. I wonder how long it will be before it launches in other languages.

Dalton Castle vs. Silas Young has been added to Final Battle. This has definitely been one of the top three angles ROH has done since I started watching in June. Whitmer vs. Corino is its main competition, although Cole vs. O'Reilly gets an honorable mention.

Final Battle will also be available on Playstation Network.

At the next ROH taping, Deonna Purrazo and Hania the Huntress will face Mandy Leon and Sumie Sakai. Deonna recently worked for NXT as a victim of Asuka.

Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows of the Bullet Club will be working for ROH in March. It's impressive they're being booked three months out.

Everything else from Friday is after the break.

HHH conference call, more Brock, Sting update, daughter of HoFer training to wrestle, NXT live event note, TNA audience, final match set for TLC, Questions on the former ECW arena, Punk returning, Sheamus as champ, and the Wyatts vs. LoN

Triple H did a big NXT conference call ahead of the big UK tour:
- Selling out Wembley is really great for NXT. I hope Vince is proud.

- Doing special events outside the U.S. in the years to come is a no-brainer as we move further into the Network Era.

- HHH is like a proud dad. I love hearing him put over his talents.

- I hope Zayn picks up where he left off!

- That will be a big episode. I hope Sampson's good.

- Way to tease more stuff and not give us a hint at what those announcements are.

- It does get old to see overly-smiling babyfaces on the main roster.

- Featuring a different group of talents in the first hour of Raw's timeslot would definitely relieve some of the problems of things being stale.

- I definitely think Balor will be a big deal in 2016. Debuting him with the proper build is the smart long-term move.

- NXT is there to push the Network. It's an asset to something that's really important to WWE. It's not leaving there.

- He's absolutely right about learning how to really work as opposed to just doing cool moves. Some ROH and TNA names still don't know this distinction.

- NXT and the main roster are definitely different markets.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

ROH and Smackdown Reax - 12/10/15

Read on for my thoughts on yesterday's ROH and Smackdown. Main Event was just a clip show, so there's nothing to recap.

Thursday, December 10, 2015

Del Rio on the AAA Title controversy, ROH Title to be defended in Japan, WWE Tribute lineup and press, another NXT taping set, Total Diva update, more GFW dates set, Punk update, Sting injury note, TNA World Title update, Interview with Bryan, and Questions on WCW then vs. WWE now, Raw ratings, Stardust, and a Diva Rumble

Alberto Del Rio told Mexican media he wasn't allowed to drop the AAA Championship in Mexico because the initial date he was advertised for was canceled. WWE did not allow Del Rio to work an alternate date in order to lose the championship, so the title was vacated. Either way, there's nothing to be done about it now. Both sides have moved on.

The ROH World Championship is expected to be defended on Jan. 4 in Tokyo, with the winner of Lethal vs. Styles at Final Battle taking on Michael Elgin. This show is NJPW's equivalent of WrestleMania, so it makes sense to have a big title match then.

Taped for the Dec. 23 Tribute to the Troops special:- Usos/Dudleys/Kane/Ryback/Reigns/Ambrose vs. LoN/Wyatts
- Rusev vs. Swagger
- Ryback vs. Owens
- Team BAD/Paige vs. Charlotte/Alicia/Becky/Brie
- Mark Henry vs. Bo Dallas

I look forward to those matches.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

NXT and Impact Wrestling Reax - 12/9/15

Rhyno note, another NXT sellout, new matches for Final Battle, another WWE name checked for injury, Slammys to be sponsored, new deal for WWE, HoFer injured, celebrity and politician at Tribute to the Troops, Raw audience, WWE-SportsCenter update, more dates for Brock, NXT panel set for UK, Cena appearance notes, and Questions on NXT vs. WWE, Kevin Owens' son, wrestling then vs. now, and Raw ratings

Prior to his appearance this week, Rhyno had not been on Raw since June 2005, during the build to the first One Night Stand PPV. I guess having seen him in TNA and NXT skewed my perception of how long it had been.

Tickets for the Jan. 7 NXT taping at Full Sail sold out almost immediately. I don't think that surprises anyone. Do they eventually get to a point where they want to hold the tapings in larger local venues? I don't know how that would affect the partnership with Full Sail, although ideally Full Sail staff and equipment would be used in the bigger venues, too.

Added to ROH Final Battle:
- The Briscoes vs. Young Bucks vs. ANX. That should be a LOT of highspots.
- The Addiction/Chris Sabin vs. Alex Shelley/ACH/Matt Sydal. I'm curious as to whether Shelley will be back regularly or if this is kind of a special appearance.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Tuesday, December 8, 2015

Rey injured, WWE live event notes, more on Dreamer in WWE, Del Rio attacked by fan, Zayn to return soon, more on AJ Styles' injury, WWE removes some classic material, JR on Twitter hack, more on Miz/Neville, Interview with Big E, new WWE exec, and Questions on boycotting Raw, ROH's new TV home, preventing injuries, Joe vs. Ciampa, and the Divas' Revolution

Rey Mysterio missed a match at AAA due to a knee injury. He was walking around with a crutch, but still hit the 619 in a segment setting up the match that took place afterward. No word on how long he'll miss. His knees have been giving him problems for years now.

The Hype Bros (Zack Ryder and NXT's Mojo Rawley) once more teamed on the main roster at a live event on Sunday, beating Stardust and Adam Rose again. I'd be a little surprised to see Mojo brought to the main roster at this point, unless he's just an undercard tag team name they're not planning on pushing.

On the other set of live events this weekend, Bayley teamed with Becky Lynch again to beat Sasha and Naomi. I'll be surprised if Bayley's not called up in 2016. She could be an important player in the Divas' division.

Tommy Dreamer confirmed House of Hardcore will continue in 2016. So, it's very doubtful he'll be working with WWE with any regularity.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

WWE + ROH live event notes, Interviews with Bayley/Charlotte, JR Twitter hoax, and Questions on Dreamer-WWE, Bryan returning, caning Dewey, Nia Jax, and the fall of Rusev

Kevin Owens is back on the road for WWE following his illness. I hope he's doing something good at TLC. He should do well in the Rumble, too.

Bayley talked about the upcoming UK tour for NXT. I definitely think she'll be on the main roster in 2016.

Charlotte talked where her career is now and more. I hope she has a lot of success.

Jim Ross' Twitter account was hacked recently, leading to rumors of his demise. JR is still alive and well. Thank goodness.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Sunday, December 6, 2015

Next Stone Cold podcast set, NXT live event note, Interviews with Maddox/JTG, Orton injury update, big Raw sells out, WWE surveying fans on NXT vs. main roster shows, NBCU on Raw ratings, ECW name passes, and Questions on Punk's first UFC fight, Heyman returning to Creative, how Vince views NXT, and the LoN

The next Stone Cold podcast, featuring Shawn Michaels, will air immediately after TLC. That should be a good interview given the history those two share.

Here are results from a recent NXT live event. It looks like the Dawkins/Fulton split is official. I'm curious how they'll do individually. Dawkins has shown some personality that distinguishes him from Fulton.

The now-former Brad Maddox talked about getting fired from WWE:
- I wouldn't be surprised if the controversy over the line was just a justification for getting rid of someone they were going to drop anyway. I do think it's hilarious he's selling T-shirts referencing the promo.

- I think he did good things with his role on the main roster, but I can see why he wanted to wrestle after all that time in FCW.

- I wish we would have seen more of Maddox as an authority figure. God knows we got plenty of Kane, HHH, and Stephanie in the role.

- I wouldn't mind seeing him in TNA at all.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Superstars Reax - 12/4/15, NXT live event notes, Interview with EC3, Foley on Dewey joining Creative, update on potential new TV promotion, TNA World Title Series update, more on Angle-TNA, more coming from GFW, Smackdown audience, Dreamer set for more WWE dates, and Questions on boycotting Raw, getting ratings up, borrowed nostalgia, and the future of Stardust

Superstars:
Slater and Ryder should have both gotten promos or a backstage segment for this one. They both have strength as characters.

- Slater vs. Ryder:
This isn't bad at all.

Good little match for Superstars.

- Neville vs. Dallas:
These two work off each other well. Neville's the serious and agile athlete, while Bo is more of a character/entertainer.

Nice last couple of minutes to showcase Neville's aerial abilities.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Even more classic promotions added to Network, new matches for Takeover, new date for Brock, WWE bans items from live events, Interview with Sombra, more on Raw ratings, Dreamer update, TNA going into their vaults, more on League of Nations, new stipulation for match at TLC, TNA audience, and Questions on Sting's future, WWE going back to TV-14, TNA going back to Spike, and what Vince would do to NXT

WWE Network has now added material from Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling and Jerry Jarrett's run booking the USWA (billed as the Global Wrestling Federation). The Stampede material is from the late '70s, and the GWF stuff is from the early '90s. WWE is also adding material from the other promotions thy debuted on the Network recently. It's a treasure trove of old content!

Officially added to Takeover in London:
- Bayley defending the Women's Championship against Nia Jax
- Dawson and Wilder defending the Tag Team Championship against Enzo and Big Cass.
- Emma vs. Asuka

It should be another spectacular show from NXT.

Brock Lesnar is advertised for the March 14 Raw. No way do they know what they're doing with that amount of certainty three months out. We'll see if that sticks.

Former NXT Champion added to UK shows, former TNA champ under the knife, ROH wrestler at WWEPC, son of HoFer working on Creative, Crowe/Callihan update, Show note, Styles update, Raw audience, where's Owens?, Cean update, and Questions on WWE focus groups, Charlotte saying no, not pushing Cesaro, putting the title on Sheamus, and Foley speaking out

Neville will be working for NXT for some of their shows in the UK. That's a good use for him!

The former Magnus underwent surgery on a torn biceps tendon. I hope he recovers soon. I think he could be great in NXT.

ROH/NJPW name Rocky Romero was recently a guest trainer at the WWEPC. That's interesting considering he infrequently works with ROH. I wonder if that's leading to anything between the two sides or if it was just a special occasion.

Dewey Foley is getting a run as a writer's assistant for WWE starting next month. He's starting at the bottom, but it will be interesting to see if he makes his mark in Creative in the years to come.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Wednesday, December 2, 2015

More promotions on the Network, Dreamer update, WWE listening outside the bubble, new TLC matches, Smackdown audience, more on Styles, WWE announcer ill, Interviews with Charlotte+Becky, Raw guests, more from Zayn, WWEPC guests, and Questions on NXT vs. the main roster, Bryan's future, whom to push, Charlotte's next opponent, and why Vince has lost touch

WWE has begun adding TV episodes from Smoky Mountain Wrestling and Mid-South Wrestling to the Network. Both are considered classic territories. WWE is building an impressive list of content, and there's more to come as they continue converting old footage for Network use.

Update: WWE is also adding footage from the AWA. It's worth checking out footage from promotions in years gone by to see what's different.

Update: WWE is now uploading footage from World Class Championship Wrestling, too. It looks like they've made progress in digitizing older footage.

Tommy Dreamer is not believed to have signed a contract with WWE. His deal as a producer for TNA allows him to take dates outside the company, so it's entirely possible he'll go back to TNA and indie shows after a brief stint in WWE. Dreamer worked the dark match after Raw, teaming with the Dudleys and Kane to beat the four members of the Wyatt Family. I suspect he'll just be working through TLC and maybe a show or two afterward, then go back to his duties for TNA and running HOH.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Coverage update following moves to new networks

With ROH, TNA, and Smackdown all changing channels (and for ROH and TNA, nights and/or times), here's the updated list of when shows will be covered:

Through the end of 2015:
Monday: Sunday PPVs
Tuesday: Raw
Wednesday: N/A
Thursday: NXT/Main Event in one post, Impact Wrestling in a separate post.
Friday: ROH/Smackdown in one post.
Saturday: Superstars coupled with news posts or with Friday PPVs
Sunday: Saturday PPVs

Starting in 2016:
Monday: Sunday PPVs
Tuesday: Raw
Wednesday: Impact Wrestling
Thursday: NXT/Main Event in one post.
Friday: ROH/Smackdown in one post.
Saturday: Superstars coupled with news posts or with Friday PPVs.
Sunday: Saturday PPVs

Interviews with Sombra/Bayley, Styles update, Cena return update, WWE Tribute update, Foley on today's WWE, TNA+ROH audiences, and Questions on the old NXT on the Network, why ratings are down, booking NXT, Bryan retiring, and the next NXT Champion

La Sombra talked about joining WWE. Sombra has apparently talked to Alberto Del Rio, the Lucha Dragons, and the wrestler formerly known as Magno about making the jump, so he already has friends/acquaintances there. I hope WWE is able to do good things in the Latin market in the years to come; that's been a struggle for them lately.

AJ Styles remains injured. He's been dealing with back problems lately. I hope ROH has a backup plan for Final Battle. Maybe they could make Lethal vs. Moose vs. Elgin to set up Lethal vs. Elgin one-on-one on Jan. 4? Or maybe they can get another member of the Bullet Club to fill in? They could shake things up if they need to.

Update: Styles' injuries are confirmed to be related to the lower back issues he had that kept him from working ROH TV a few weeks back. The show has been missing something without the #1 Contender. He'll be on this week's show, though.

John Cena has been announced for WWE's January tour of India. I guess he'll more or less be in the full swing of things once 2016 hits.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Raw Reax - 11/30/15

Read on for my thoughts on last night's Raw.

Monday, November 30, 2015

WWE live event notes, Crowe update, most recent TNA champ injured, where are they now?, HoFer set for Raw, and Questions on Joe and Storm on the main roster, Sheamus' title reign, cowardly heels, overusing MITB, and Maddox's release

Finn Balor beat Baron Corbin on a main roster live event this weekend. I wouldn't be shocked to see that as an NXT Title program in early 2016. It's also possible one or both of them will be debuting on the main roster in a few months. I could see Corbin entering the Rumble and Balor debuting the night after WM32. That's just speculation, though. There's no word on either of them being called up yet.

The former Solomon Crowe has returned to the indies as Sami Callihan. I think he'll be happier there. He was spinning his tires in NXT.

Matt Hardy needed 38 stitches after suffering a cut during an indie event this weekend. That's INSANE. I hope he's OK now. He could be a player for TNA in 2016.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Sunday, November 29, 2015

GFW title change, Styles injured, and Questions on Sheamus as champ, WWE firing Gunn, GFW's status, AWA on the Network, and RoboCop

While their as-yet-unaired TV series declared their first champions, GFW had a title change hands at an indie event when Sonjay Dutt defeated PJ Black. It's possible Black is going to Lucha Underground and won't be able to fulfill any future GFW appearances for the time being, so they did a switch just in case. Still no update on GFW airing in the U.S..

AJ Styles was pulled off a NJPW show due to injury. It's unknown how serious of an injury it was and how much time he'll miss from here. Styles is currently scheduled to challenge Jay Lethal for the ROH Championship at Final Battle, so they're hoping he's able to work that date.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I definitely think we'll see a babyface (likely Reigns) take the title at WrestleMania, if not sooner. Sheamus as champ was just kind of the backup plan due to Rollins' injury.

2. I think there would have been heat on Gunn and on the company if there was any indication of him being shown favoritism considering the potential repercussions if a talent fails the wellness policy. I can sympathize with giving him another chance, but WWE really wanted to show that wasn't acceptable behavior for someone in his position.

3. Jarrett's in a tough position given the amount of responsibilities he directly oversees. He can't be in two places at once, so he had to choose what could potentially mean more for GFW in the future. GFW's still a thing for the time being.

4. I'm guessing AWA doesn't have as big of an audience as the stuff they're uploading beforehand. They're still in the process of digitizing old footage, and there are priorities of what gets put on the Network when.

5. I'm still sad we didn't get the new RoboCop during the HHH vs. Sting feud, especially after we got Terminators for HHH's entrance.

More wrestling tomorrow.

Superstars Reax - 11/27/15, NXT names on main roster, Interview with Backlund, and Questions on booking Owens, WWE pushing the Network, WWE working with WWNLive, talents being called up, and watching NWA TV

Superstars:
If he's not going to hang out with the creepy bunny anymore, there's not much reason to care about Rose. His character's going nowhere.

- Rose vs. Truth:
Good enough match so far.

Fine match for Superstars.

Kind of a mixed bag with that Miz promo. It's weird to think Ryder could be back in title contention. Maybe in GFW?

- Miz vs. Ryder:
This is going pretty well so far.

This match reminds me of the ECW brand days. I miss those; they were kind of a precursor to what's NXT now.

Good match overall.

Another TNA name retiring?, TNA officially moves India tour, territory family patriarch passes, and Questions on the Gooker, Foley stopping watching, Vince pushing Reigns (again), and War Games matches in WWE

Awesome Kong was recently announced as retiring. She has confirmed she'll no longer be wrestling in Japan, but remains under contract to TNA until January and intends to honor her commitments there. What she does after that contract ends is still up in the air. She's been one of the most successful stars TNA has ever featured, and was set for a big push in WWE. I hope she makes the right choice for her health and for her future career.

TNA sent out a press release confirming their tour of India has been moved to 2016. That was going to be a big deal for them. Hopefully they really turn things around next year after a lackluster 2015 on DA.

Territory era star Tommy Gilbert passed away at 75 on Thanksgiving morning. He was an absolute legend and will be missed.

More NWA on the Network, top NXT name advertised for main roster tour, Rollins update, NXT DVD to include dark match featuring C.M. Punk, more on WWEPC shooting incident, WWE release, NXT name arrested, TNA postpones India tour, TNA World Title tournament brackets set, and Questions on how to use Cena going forward, Sheamus at Survivor Series, "Bully Ray" in WWE, and pushing Reigns

WWE is regularly adding episodes from Jim Crockett Promotions' weekly TV series to the Network. These shows come from around the time of WrestleMania I through III. I imagine it took longer to digitize those old master tapes. The amount of content they have available to upload is astonishing.

Sami Zayn is advertised for next month's UK tour with the main roster. Whether he'll be wrestling remains to be seen. I really hope he's in the Rumble in 2016. It's time for him to make that next step once he recovers.

Seth Rollins has begun physical therapy following his surgery. I'm rooting for him to return and do great things in 2016.

What happened after Raw, rumorkiller of former TNA Champion at Survivor Series, Interview with Cornette+Sulivan, California indie star passes, NXT star leaves, Raw audience, NWA on the Network, and Questions on the ending of Survivor Series, the Charlotte/Paige angle, and WWE burials

Roman Reigns cut a promo thanking Nashville after Raw. No dark match.

TNA star Mr. Anderson was spotted in Atlanta the night of Survivor Series, leading to speculation of him looking to return to WWE. Anderson was working for an indie promotion that night. I think he'd be good as someone credible for rising stars to work with, but he wouldn't be someone I'd be looking to push if I was WWE. Either way, he's signed to TNA now and there's no indication of that changing in the near future.

The latest edition of Back to the Territories features Jim Cornette and Kevin Sullivan discussing Florida. That should be pretty fun and educational.

California star Rising Son passed away suddenly at 33. That's a young age to go. Thoughts are with his friends, fans, and family.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

More on Sombra-WWE, more NJPW vs. ROH, TNA TV tapings set, Diva busted open, more Surivor Series backstage notes, Cesaro update, HoFer gets surgery, Survivor Series press, Interviews with Dudleys/Edge, TLC's main event, and Questions on PPVs outside the U.S., Ahmed Johnson, Dunn as a booker, pushing Del Rio, and pushing Cesaro

The now-former La Sombra was praised for how he finished his time in Mexico. He put others over wherever he was requested to and worked hard where he was needed. EMLL praised him for how his departure was handed, so he'd be welcomed back if WWE doesn't work out. He sounds like a class act. That will hopefully carry him far in WWE.

NJPW stars will be part of ROH's 14th anniversary PPV. Shinsuke Nakamura has already been confirmed. He's a big deal to that audience.

TNA will be taping in Bethlehem, Penn. from Jan. 5 through 9. It will be interesting to see how this affects their plans of what to tape in India in December and the UK at the end of January. I'm glad they've got a new TV home in the U.S., though, and hope this boosts both TNA and Pop TV. Also of note, Kurt Angle is advertised for these events, so his contract expires closer to the middle or end of the month.

Everything else from Monday is after the break.

Cena update, off-air notes from Survivor Series, new WWE Network shows, future Stone Cold guests, another WWE star to miss WM32 season, and Questions on James Storm, the Charlotte/Paige angle, Pope's commentary, and shaking things up in WWE

John Cena discussed taking time off from WWE. To say WWE really needs to get to where they don't need to rely on him as an important part of things is an understatement. They might not have Cena right now, but they're using Taker and Kane as part of the "old guard" in his place. They should be using guys like that to enhance the current product instead of remaining in the spotlight.

The Undertaker's family was present at Survivor Series, from his parents to his wife and children. That was a really special milestone for The Deadman. Few get that level of recognition.

Scott Hall was also at Survivor Series. There's still talk of him working backstage in NXT. Could he lead the promo class?

Dusty Rhodes' wife and one of his daughters were visiting at Survivor Series, too. It was cool to see Stardust vs. Goldust again.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

WWE Survivor Series Reax

Read on for my thoughts on Sunday's WWE special event.

Monday, November 23, 2015

Interview with Eric Young, threats at Survivor Series, more TNA to Pop, band added to TNA UK tour, TNA-India airing update, Lesnar set for TV in 2016, Goldust update, and Questions on heels who should have been champ, the next WWE statue, ROH action figures, Rousey on Stone Cold's podcast, and rings in different countries

Eric Young discussed TNA's move to Pop TV. "TNA is Nickelback?" This sounds like the paranoid Eric Young who would argue about which cereal he wanted for breakfast. I do think TNA needs to decide who they are and what they do, though. WCW was where the big boys played. ECW was EXTREME. What's TNA, really, when you break it down?

There were rumors circulating this past weekend relating to a planned ISIS attack at Survivor Series, although no specific plans were reported. I'm very glad that didn't come to pass!

Update: WWE communicated with authorities at various levels regarding security at the PPV. It's a scary world we live in sometimes.

Everything else from Saturday is after the break.

Superstars Reax - 11/20/15, Interview with Landis, ROH invades home of TNA, Strong update, more on TNA's new TV home and what it means, ROH names pulled from indie show, Network hits another big mark, Styles-NXT rumorkiller, wrestling tournaments ranked, Smackdown audience, and Questions on ROH's production values, tag team match rules, the Radicalz, X-Pac as champ, and the Charlotte angle

Superstars:
- Brie vs. Naomi:
I think Naomi's an underrated worker.

Not bad at all from one-third of Team B.A.D.

That was pretty good overall.

Funny stuff from Bo as always. He's found a nice niche for himself.

- Titus vs. Bo:
Funny stuff with Bo and Darren at ringside.

Nice match overall.

Everything else from Friday is after the break.
