Interviews with JB/Brie/Lita/Flair/Barrett, NXT guests, Payback lineup, Impact audience and Questions on the WWE Hall of Fame, sports entertainment, wrestlers who are B+ players, Devitt in WWE and JTG

Jeremy Borash talked about a number of TNA topics. I wonder what the logistics would be of moving all their tapings to the UK. Presumably they'd have to move all their live events to Europe and such as well? Honestly it's not a bad idea. That might work out better for them given the attendance woes they're having here.

Brie Bella hinted at retiring before too much longer. Interesting. I could see her being "fired" in order to stay at home with Bryan while he's injured.

Lita talked about going into the WWE Hall of Fame and more. The "worked shoot" with Edge and Matt really elevated the careers of both Edge and Lita as heels, but it did come with a price as far as the attention it brought to the situation.

Interviews with EY/JR, obsessed-over wrestlers, Punk update, more NXT merch, HHH talks NXT, another Smackdown visitor, Takeover dark match and guests, other NXT notes and Questions on Punk returning, Dixie turning face, Devitt in WWE, Vince in charge and the price of the WWE Network

Eric Young made the rounds promoting his new show on Animal Planet, including some TNA talk. I'm glad he's getting outside publicity, but will it help TNA for him to be champ?

A lot of wrestling personalities made TIME's list of heavily-searched living names online. Very fascinating! Other wrestlers rank as well.

An article on C.M. Punk lists him as retired from WWE. He's still officially under contract for another month and a half or so. I love Punk, but WWE can't force him to compete (nor should they). He had an amazing run, but it looks like it's over now. While we should all remember all the great stuff he's done in his career, it's time to turn our attention to the next generation of stars.

Interviews with Goldberg/JR/Batista, Superstars update, HHH talks NXT, special guests at Slammiversary, WWE Magazine slips up, Raw audience and Questions on the "what" chant, Stone Cold as guest host and Taker's last match

Goldberg talked about potentially coming back to the ring, the end of WCW and more. It does feel like people overlook the AOL-Time Warner merger when looking at WCW's demise. Obviously WCW was losing a lot of money at the time and there were poor decisions made creatively, but there's a corporate side to things, too.

Jim Ross talked about his announcing style and more. I think there's a reason JR's passionate commentary is remembered more in a positive way than what we hear today. I liked JR's ideas for the perfect wrestler.

WWE Superstars will air on Friday this week due to NXT Takeover being in that timeslot this time. I'm OK with that.

Main Event Reax - 5/27/14, Hall of Famers at Takeover, what Shield vs. Evolution contract said, latest on Sin Cara I, Interview with Striker, Kane appearance, the importance of referees, Bagwell tries Canadian Destroyer, good news for NXT, Japanese legend back in TNA, Smackdown audience, Batista update, Flair appearance, Raw cameo and Questions on stripping Bryan, changing Bryan's music, Saving Private Ryback, Wyatt vs. Cena and great talkers

Main Event:
I liked the little video to set up the opening tag match. WWE's doing a better job of setting up matches lately.

Not a bad match between Axel and Cody. I wish it would have went a little longer, but they've got a PPV to sell for Sunday. Or maybe they'll set up a tag match?

I wish there was a post-match there. I'm curious to eventually see Cody vs. Goldust.

As bizarrely entertaining as it is to watch Sandow in these silly segments, it's going to take a while for him to recover from them. He's a very talented competitor. I don't know why they're doing this to him.

Yeah, the further we get away from that match, the better. It was alright, but I don't really get the direction with Sandow.

Didn't expect Brie to lose that one clean. WWE throws some curve balls sometimes. I'm ready for Natalya vs. Charlotte in NXT at any rate.

I liked the promo from The Usos. They're growing as performers.

Good Wyatts promo. I love this gimmick.

Kickass main event match. I want to see these two teams face off for the titles on Sunday. Why wouldn't they?

Great post-match to send a message to Cena.

Cornette appearance, a look at early WCW, WWE Hall of Famer coming back soon?, WWE scouting, new match for Payback, more Impact tapings, match set for Smackdown and Questions on MVP's heel turn, podcasts vs. shoots, the WWE Hall, WWE contracts and Stephanie's stock

Jim Cornette appeared on "Svengoolie" and was challenged to an eating contest. I wonder if he liked that burger more or less than Wendy's. Or Dairy Queen's.

A new book will focus on the pre-Nitro days of WCW. Could be pretty interesting. It sometimes feels like we gloss over that era of the company.

Ric Flair is expected to be at Smackdown. He might not appear on-camera, but the taping is in his current hometown of Atlanta. There are plans for him to return in a regular role. He could be the new Raw GM now that Brad Maddox has been fired.

William Regal was recently scouting for talent at New European Championship Wrestling. As you might expect, that's in Europe. I hope he found some keepers.

Original Sin Cara update, Scott Hall hospitalized, TNA bringing back six-sided ring?, Impact lineup and Questions on making a new WWE Champion, Bray vs. Cena, bringing back territories and charging more for the Network

The first Sin Cara is wrestling under a different gimmick and name now in Mexico, so it looks like there won't be any legal wrangling over his WWE gimmick. Hopefully we can move forward with Hunico as Sin Cara and the former Sin Cara carves a niche for himself outside of WWE.

Scott Hall checked into a hospital recently. After a litany of tests, he's said to be well. Glad to hear good news about his health. Definitely rooting for the Bad Guy here.

TNA is teasing the return of the six-sided ring. Slammiversary would be a pretty good place to bring it back, as would Destination X. I couldn't care much less about the old ring, but apparently it's a sticking point for a lot of older fans.

Legend cameo on live event, Interview with Mason Ryan, other live event notes, unedited Smackdown and Questions on turning Cena heel and fixing WWE

Pat Patterson appeared at a recent WWE live event in France. He was interrupted by Bad News Barrett, setting up Barrett defeating Big E to retain the Intercontinental Championship. It's generally pretty cool to get a legend appearing as a bonus for live events.

Mason Ryan talked about his time in WWE and where he goes from here. I'm usually a fan of people getting vignettes before they debut, but there's something to be said for someone debuting out of nowhere like Ryan did as well. I'm glad Punk gave advice to the other members of New Nexus. Mason had definitely improved after retooling his physique. I kind of wish we got to see him get a second crack at the main roster. I'd be a little surprised to see him in TNA, but I think he MIGHT do well there.

Former WWE Champion returns, NXT Takeover lineup, more WWE business news, Impact audience, Bret remembers Owen, Angle update, new Payback match and Questions on Kevin Steen to WWE, sports entertainment vs. wrestling, reality shows, Vince's position and replacing Bryan as Champ

The Miz returned to action in Europe as part of an eight-man tag. He, Big E, Cody Rhodes and Goldust beat Justin Gabriel, Tyson Kidd, Titus O'Neil and Jack Swagger. That's a really odd mix of faces and heels.

Set for NXT's upcoming Takeover special:
- NXT Championship: Adrian Neville vs. Tyson Kidd
- #1 Contendership to NXT Championship: Sami Zayn vs. Tyler Breeze
- NXT Women's Championship: Charlotte vs. Natalya
- NXT Tag Team Championship: The Ascension vs. Kalisto and El Local
- Adam Rose vs. Camacho

That should be a pretty good card. I look forward to it.

Interviews with Goldberg/Sean Oliver, former NWA Champ at WWEPC, Jackman vs. Cena?, WWE producer makes cameo on live event, possible Flair return and Questions on the WWE Network, Connor the Crusher, a Taker book and The Wolves

Goldberg discussed a potential WWE return with Jim Ross. I think he wants/needs that a lot more than WWE does. I love how he framed it as a proposition to make WWE money.

Update: JR and Goldberg also talked about wrestlers getting more time off. I agree wholeheartedly some performers really need time off at times. I think WWE's gotten better at this, but it could of course be better.

Kayfabe Commentaries' Sean Oliver talked about Roddy Piper and more. Oliver's put together some really great and insightful stuff.

Former NWA Champion Adam Pearce is a guest trainer for the NXT talents this week. WWE's doing a great job of getting varied names working with the talents there.

Main Event Reax - 5/20/14, Interviews with Paige/Big E, another TNA exec leaves, more Rosebud cameos, The Authority not best for business?, Raw audience and Questions on swerves, DDP in the Hall, Sheamus as U.S. Champ and Tazz

Main Event:
That was a really good opening segment to get Cesaro over. I do continue to think getting Cesaro over is tied up in getting Heyman and Lesnar over, but when Heyman does get behind Cesaro, it helps the latter. Cesaro beating Henry tonight could be quite the victory.

I really wonder what they're thinking with Sandow. I hope he survives this "test" of silly costumes and stuff.

Sandow won! Maybe they'll get behind him now? Good match if you can ignore the silliness. R-Truth has really earned his stripes

I liked the video to set up Naomi vs. Aksana.

You'd think the match would be more intense given the injury Naomi got. I think they turned it up, but if this was a heated fight over a personal issue, would there be suplexes, tilt-a-whirl slams, etc.?

I wasn't really crazy about us not getting Cesaro vs. Henry, unless they're setting up another match. It felt kind of flat instead of building more heat. Heyman's promo work was good as always, though.

Kazarian update, Bryan tweets, HBK appearance, Interview with Victoria, Foley news and Questions on Russo, WWE's stock and the WWE Title

A video was released at the end of ROH's recent iPPV showing Daniels and an unidentified partner announcing they would would be at the company's Best in the World event in June. The speculation is that the partner coming in will be Kazarian. As for why Kazarian wasn't shown in the video, he's still officially under contract with TNA and can't appear on another company's TV, iPPVs, etc. That said, Kazarian will be free from his TNA deal at the beginning of June and will be able to appear at Best in the World with no restrictions. Both men are good pickups for ROH. TNA's losses are their gains.

Daniel Bryan tweeted after his successful surgery. I fully expect him to be stripped of the titles tonight.

Interview with Sabin, special guests at WWEPC, WWE commentator back in the ring, Bryan update, Batista talks fan criticism, ROH replaces TNA and Questions on WWE's rights fees, buying WCW and Russo

Chris Sabin talked about coming back from his major knee injuries. I can appreciate him not wanting to go into details about his TNA departure. I wish the still-young superstar the best post-TNA.

WWE's Performance Center hosted Special Olympics athletes. Those facilities are rated highly for a reason. Count the WWE/NXT cameos!

Alex Riley wrestled in the main event of a recent NXT live event. I wouldn't read too much into that at this stage, but it is interesting he got in the ring after being moved to commentary. My guess is he was being used as a veteran to help teach the ropes to the up-and-coming NXT names.

Fallout from WWE's new financial outlook

Needless to say, Wall Street didn't take too kindly to WWE's new TV deal. While TV rights did increase, WWE had basically assured stockholders TV rights would at least double. There also continue to be concerns about the viability of the WWE Network making up for lost PPV revenue.

WWE stock dropped nearly 50% after the market closed Thursday. I can't think of any time they've taken that big of a hit so quickly. I think WWE got too ambitious with the TV rights situation and the Network is going to take longer to be successful than they thought.

According to comments made last year at a conference call, Vince McMahon's owed a hammerlock due to the rights fees situation. It's a shame WWE fell so far short of what they promised. What went wrong?

Reigns hurt, new WWE TV deal, Interviews with Swagger/Paige, Bryan surgery update, NXT star works live events, big international name to WWE and Questions on Russo, TNA in Canada, why to watch TNA and One Night Only PPVs

Roman Reigns got a nasty gash in a steel cage match with Randy Orton. He might be held off a few shows, as there was concern about a concussion. I hope he recovers well.

Variety did a piece on WWE's new TV deal with NBC Universal. On one level, that's really good and I'm glad they got a deal finalized. But they were expected to announce a much more profitable deal.

Update: the deal is official. After all that talk of them leaving for a bigger deal, everything finally got worked out. Kind of anticlimactic, but I hope it's for the best for everyone involved.

Update: WWE put out a press release adjusting their business outlook for the next two years. Needless to say, they didn't come anywhere close to what they wanted for their content. Icarus flew too close to the sun.

Interviews with HBK/Bryan, more on Bryan situation, when we can BOlieve, Smackdown cameos, rebooking Montreal, Bryan's replacement in Europe, GFW scouting continues, more on Rusev/Putin, NXT match on WWE live event, TNA plays off Jay-Z incident and Questions on leeway with the rules, bringing back Kozlov, Flair, death matches and Batista

Shawn Michaels talked about his involvement with Daniel Bryan last year. There were definitely people wondering if it was setting up a match between the two.

WWE will likely make a decision about the state of the WWE World Title after Bryan's surgery. If he's only expected to be out two months or so, he'll likely keep the title. If he's out for longer, they'll consider other options. They're definitely in a tough position as to who should face Kane at Payback. I think Big Show might be the most realistic option there, as much as I hate to say it. Big E's tied up with Rusev, I'm not sure what Christian's status is and if he's a believable challenger, Ziggler's too far down the card, Rey's hurt again and RVD will probably be gone in a few months. So that leaves Henry and Show. Henry's also somewhat down the card, but he could be an option as well.

Bo Dallas was originally set to appear on this week's Smackdown, but is now set for next week's edition. WWE wants to give the debut a proper spotlight. I hope there's still a reference to GreensBOro, North Carolina. That's too perfect to pass up.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Main Event Reax - 5/13/14, another TNA original leaves, Interviews with Lawler/Foley, Sabin note, TNA backstage name leaves, former TNA Champion "suspended", Ziggler steps up, ex-WCW name at WWEPC, WWE star hurt working out, NXT cameo on Raw, Raw audience and Questions on WWE votes, Sheamus as U.S. Champ, Ambrose in Evolution, limiting Emma and the hatred for Cena

Main Event:
That was a pretty cool opening segment! The harping on Brock's win at Mania is getting old, but other than that, I liked how they set the stage for Sheamus vs. Cesaro. I continue to want to see more focus on Cesaro. He's kind of getting a push, but also kind of being lost in the shuffle.

I'm not sure I'm feeling Sandow's current gimmick. He's REALLY directionless right now. Obviously WWE Creative has a lot of people to write for, but there are some talented people who are just kind of "there" and struggling to make a mark.

Not a bad match between Ziggler and Sandow, but neither man looks to really be moving onto anything important right now.

HOLY &#@#. Alicia just made me care more about her match than 10,000 Total Divas segments.

Ehh, the match itself wasn't that good. It didn't really do Emma any favors to win with a rollup, and Alicia losing two straight matches out of nowhere doesn't really do anything for her. Both Divas are good, but this didn't work out all that well.

I'm not really sure what Alicia's new gimmick is, but it's bizarrely entertaining.

I'm ready for Sheamus vs. Cesaro. Good promo to continue setting it up. Hopefully Sheamus elevates the U.S. Title with his reign.

That match was REALLY good. Cesaro and Sheamus bring out the best in each other at times. Two veterans at the top of their games here.

Pretty cool post-match. I hope there's a rematch between these two, because they tore it up tonight.

Interviews with Rollins/Tanaka, Impact Wrestling preview, Smackdown audience, Raw note and Questions on Brock vs. Taker (again), Bryan's booking, the Network, wrestlers' court and the Hall of Fame

Seth Rollins talked about WWE being PG, Taker's streak and more. I think banning blood and shots to the head and such was more about wrestlers' health than about being family-friendly. I think it's really time to let the complaints about WWE being PG go. There can still be really good stuff under the PG banner (as we're seeing now). I wonder how many people who want to see the Attitude Era/TV-14 return even watched it during that time, and how many of those who did see it just have nostalgia goggles. The Attitude Era was great and all, but it's time for something new and different.

Set for Thursday's Impact Wrestling:
- X-Division Championship: Sanada vs. Tigre Uno vs. DJ Z
- James Storm vs. Mr. Anderson
- Willow vs. Magnus and Bram

Some of that sounds good. I couldn't care much less about the X-Division in 2014. Sanada and Tigre Uno barely have any characterization. They're great athletes, but there's not a lot to sink my teeth into beyond that.

NXT notes, TNA cameos praised, TNA name finishes up, Interviews with Kofi/Cena/Y2J, Questions on NXT Divas, Punk leaving, Brock vs. Taker, Matt Morgan returning and lolTNA

Drake Younger has reported to NXT and is now working as a referee. It seems pretty odd they'd sign such an experienced wrestler to work as a referee, but maybe they've got something in mind.

So Cal Val and Sakamoto were visiting at a recent NXT live event. I wouldn't assume either are getting signed.

TNA management was said to be very happy with the outside Knockouts who worked the One Night Only events. Could that lead to some new faces being added to the division? I'd assume Taryn and Brooke will get time to re-assimilate before any new names were brought in, but you never know with TNA.

TNA roster changes, Interview with Jericho, Devitt update and Questions on women in GFW, Batista leaving WWE, the WWE Network and Manik

TNA has made some changes to the roster section of their website, notably dropping the profiles of Knux and Rob Terry in favor of having one profile for The Menagerie. Joseph Park has also been dropped now that that alter ego has disappeared as a character. Jeff Hardy and Willow are still listed as two separate profiles, though.

Chris Jericho talked about his favorite matches and more. His feud with HBK was really amazing and that's not just because of the "workrate" of the matches. It was the story they took us on that really resonated with me.

Prince Devitt has announced his departure from New Japan Pro Wrestling, prompting speculation of him being WWE-bound. I'd like to see what he'd bring to the table in the U.S..

New TNA signing official, former TNA Champion a free agent, Angle out, new Russo site, Impact audience, Dixie takes shot at JR and Questions on JoMo, Total Divas, Wyatt vs. Cena and debuting Sting in WWE

TNA has signed Bram, Magnus' new associate, to a multi-year deal. I don't think I've ever seen him in a singles match, so there's not a lot for me to say about how I think he'll fare in TNA. They're obviously pretty high on him given how he's been used so far.

Chris Sabin's TNA contract has officially expired. He's been removed from the TNA roster and has started working independent dates. I think I'd give him a look if I was WWE.

Kurt Angle is scheduled to miss four to six months following ACL surgery. That's really unfortunate for both him and TNA. I wish him a speedy recovery at any rate. TNA's going to really be missing something with him on the injured list.

Global Force Wrestling is seeking fan input on who to sign in the form of a draft. Chris Hero would be one of the top names I'd want for them to sign. AJ Styles is probably up there, as well.

WWE is continuing to digitize/clean up footage from older promotions for the WWE Network. There's an extensive process to getting material ready for the Network, so there's still a good deal of stuff they need to do before it can be uploaded. There are indeed plans to put up a lot more content in the future. They just have to finish getting it ready!

Sheamus responded to rumors about a backstage fight with Sin Cara. I don't know how these rumors get started, but I haven't seen anything about them getting in a fight.

Shawn Michaels told Jim Ross on Ross' podcast that the decision to end Undertaker's Streak was made on the day of WrestleMania. A lot of people in the company were in the dark, including the referee. That's interesting. I'd love to know what was going through everyone's heads that day.

Shawn Michaels also addressed C.M. Punk's situation. I think he knows what he's talking about here.

Chris Jericho discussed Adam Rose, Extreme Rules and more. That was lame, Chris. I can see some comparisons between Rose and Y2J, but I don't think they're trying to rip the older character off. If anything, Rose reminds me of Russell Brand.

Main Event Reax - 5/6/14, notes from Raw taping, Rosebuds identified, Rusev update, WWE tribute to recently-deceased fan, Interviews with Gunner/JR, Raw audience and Questions on ROH vs. ECW, Punk staying, Sheik's Twitter, WWE going PG and turning Cena heel

Main Event:
Well, that ending was something! Rose is catching my attention with the character. I hope he has the in-ring chops to back it up, because it's pretty entertaining. The action between Swagger and Ziggler was pretty solid. I hope both of them break through the glass ceiling in the future. Ziggler's only 33 after all.

That was kind of an odd post-match, but perfect for the Rose character. I like what I'm seeing so far.

That was a good Divas' match that will probably ultimately not mean much of anything. But hey, at least they got some screen time.

I couldn't care much less about a Natalya/Cameron feud. Unless it leads to one of them challenging Paige, that is.

That was a good match between two former Intercontinental Champions. Goldust still has gas in the tank. I hope we get that awesome Cody/Goldust feud we've been teased about for a few years now.

Ehhhh.... not a great promo from Cena, but he's definitely done a lot worse. He just feels so paint-by-numbers now.

Here are some live reports from Extreme Rules. The C.M. Punk chants were definitely audible. I still don't think he's coming back any time soon.

Rob Van Dam had some bruising and swelling as well as a cut following the Five Star Frog Splash trash can spot. Other than that, there haven't been any injury reports. That's a surprise given how physically intense the show was.

Bo Dallas is expected to debut on the main roster within a month's time. The character has a lot of potential if the reactions he's gotten so far are any indication. He's been pretty entertaining in NXT.

WWE has christened their summer live events as "The Summerslam Heatwave Tour". I think it's smart of them to push the Summerslam name on live events. It's supposed to be a big event after all.

Chef Robert Irvine, Gail Kim's husband, was ringside at a recent TNA live event. They could probably use his expertise at turning businesses around.

Big E talked to promote the post-Extreme Rules Raw. Yeah, about that whole "still being IC Champion" thing... Good piece otherwise.

Sgt. Slaughter was part of an Extreme Rules viewing party in New York. That's pretty cool.

At one point, the plan for the main event of Payback was Daniel Bryan vs. Batista for the WWE Championship, with Bryan going over. Batista balked at the idea of another major loss on his way out. I can respect Batista's thinking there, but at the end of the day Bryan's the top guy in the company and should be pushed accordingly.

Locker room etiquette, updates on Japanese names to WWE, Interviews with Nikki/Aries/Y2J, WeeLC cameo, Impact audience, Ryan comments on release, extreme dream matches and Questions on MCMG, Rusev, the TNA TV Title, never missing Mania and cutting back on live events

Justin Credible's latest "Pro Wrestling 101" talks about locker room etiquette. Believe it or not, it's not just how many flippy moves you can do that gets you to the big leagues. Be respectful! I do think protecting wrestler's finishers is pretty important. I also think it's important and respectful to watch the other matches on the card.

It's expected KENTA will be heading to WWE once he finishes up with NOAH, but it's likely nothing will be announced until he's done there. That's a very classy move on his part given all his years there. I hope he does great things in WWE.

WWE still has a standing contract offer to Prince Devitt, who has finished with New Japan. So that's still an option for both sides. We'll see. He's another guy I'm curious to see in the States.

Triple H is advertised for WWE's return to Madison Square Garden. WWE always stacks things up there.

Daniel Bryan is advertised for a show in MSG the same day as a show in Japan, leading to speculation of him working both shows due to the time difference. That's really insane if he works both events. I'm all for strong work ethic, but I think that was poorly planned out.

Knux's new TNA stable will consist of Rob Terry as Freak and Canadian independent wrestler Crazy Steve. Rebel is someone Christy Hemme worked with before she became a wrestler. I'm willing to give the group a chance. From the leaked picture, it looks pretty off-the-wall.

Bram, who debuted on this week's Impact with Magnus, is former WWE developmental wrestler Kenneth Cameron. He teamed with the current Konnor in an earlier version of The Ascension.

Top Japanese talent KENTA has left NOAH, prompting speculation he'll be heading to WWE after he had a tryout there earlier in the year. He had a number of well-received feuds in ROH and is a name definitely known to the IWC. If he is coming to WWE, that's a pretty big signing and I hope it really pays dividends for both sides.

Rob Van Dam and Ric Flair are set for NXT Takeover. I can see RVD's appearance working well to play off the main event. I hope they have him put over the competitors involved in that.

John Cena granting a wish was picked up. He's an all-around great guy.

Following his appearance on Raw, Ric Flair was a top trending topic on Yahoo for some time. That's cool. I imagine that's what WWE was hoping for.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
