2015 predictions for WWE and TNA rosters

Read on for my stabs in the dark of what could be coming for talents in 2015.

Main Event Reax - 12/30/14, What happened after Raw, Raw guest, Angle TNA return official, Interview with Jimmy Uso, and Questions on pushing Ziggler, little people, Rosebuds, the Rumble, and Vince vs. the fans

Main Event:
I was mostly a fan of the opening segment. Edge and Christian can be pretty entertaining. As far as I know, Edge and Christian are just here for this week. It's possible they're still part of the angle going forward, but I suspect Sting will end up being a bigger part of it.

Cool to see Charlotte and Sasha Banks on Main Event. I'm not really sure why they're here, but it's good for them to work in front of a larger crowd. I think both could be on the main roster in 2015.

Pretty good match with the NXT Divas. I think they "passed" their main roster test, in my eyes.

So-so backstage segment. I wonder if there were earlier plans for Santino to run the show, but they changed their minds to put Edge and Christian and charge, so he got bumped to a smaller role. It's not a big deal, I guess.

I'm interested to see how Titus does in 2015. He'll be 38, but I don't think that will totally stop WWE from using him.

Pretty good match between Titus and Gabriel. They worked together pretty well. Again, very curious to see if Titus will do anything of note in the year ahead.

Weird backstage party segment. WWE comedy...

Cool tease for Smackdown. I wonder if that lawsuit sets up Sting trying to be GM.

Pretty good match to end the show (and year). On to 2015!

Query on Sheamus, Interview with Jarrett, Memphis name passes, Brock commercial, WWE name retires, TNA Lockdown update, another match set for TNA in NYC, Smackdown segment set, and Questions on Rollins beating Cena in an "I Quit" match, What if Bischoff never took over WCW?, Rollins vs. Ziggler, and Rusev vs. Ryback

First up, a query:
1. WWE could easily be saving Sheamus' return for the Royal Rumble. They like to do a number of surprise entrants then, and he's been gone long enough for that to count. As far as I know, he'll be good to go by then.

Jeff Jarrett talked about building up GFW. The NJPW show will be a big step for the promotion. It'd be cool to bring together rosters of international promotions, and maybe some indies in the States, too? I'd love to see everyone get together to put on a solid product as an alternative to WWE.

Memphis territory name Al Greene recently passed away. He was notable in the '60s and '70s. PWInsider has a write-up of his career

The clip of Brock Lesnar destroying HHH's office from some time back is the basis of a new Hardee's commercial. That was pretty well done. Can we get a Paul Heyman commercial now?

WWE live event notes and Questions on hating Cena, who should win the Rumble, wrestling in NXT, what trending means, and how to boost Network buys

Hulk Hogan and Jimmy Hart were part of a WWE live event in Cincinnati. Lana and Rusev interacted with them to set up Rusev defending the U.S. Title against Roman Reigns. That show also featured Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and Tyler Breeze wrestling. Bad News Barrett did a promo again. Sin Cara replaced Darren Young in the opener against Justin Gabriel. Not sure why they didn't have Young work another match after his return the night before. I wouldn't read anything into it, though. It was probably just planned to be a one-time thing to see how he is.

On the other set of live events, Sami Zayn once more retained the NXT Championship against Adrian Neville. I'm surprised The Ascension aren't working live events, since they're set to come up soon. Neville is expected to be the next NXT call-up, though, so it makes sense to get him some more work before that happens.

Santino Marella was the guest ring announcer on one live event this weekend. It was a match involving Emma, so I wonder if we'll see those two together again. It's a shame we haven't seen Emma more. She's great.

WWE live event notes including teased returns and NXT names, assorted WWE press, Interview with Mason Ryan, Nash update, and Questions on replicating ECW, the Styles Clash, NXT names on the pre-show, New Jack, and facing Brock at WM31

Sami Zayn defended the NXT Championship against Adrian Neville in Madison Square Garden. That's pretty cool for them.

Randy Orton returned to the ring this weekend to beat Kane. I'm glad he's back. Talented guy. I wonder what he'll be doing at WM31?

Santino Marella announced at a WWE live event he hopes to be back in a few months. It's possible we haven't seen the last of him in the ring after all!

Interviews with Jarrett/D'Amore, latest on Nash, where the PPV after WM31 will be, and Questions on Rikishi running over Austin, Low Ki/LayCool, Hogan going for the title, Lawler leaving, and Total Divas

Jeff Jarrett talked about GFW, AJ Styles, and more ahead of the big NJPW show:
- I'm very curious to see how much of a success GFW will be, especially compared to TNA or ROH, etc..

- He's right about people (including myself at times) being way too focused on "who's No. 2 behind WWE". I also want there being a good number of healthy promotions, so the workers can get dates without being stuck working with one promoter.

- I also think some aspects of international promotions can be successful. The Bullet Club has made a name for itself among some fans, at least. It will be interesting to see how long that can stay true. I'm sure there are already jokes of "Bullet Club Wolfpack" and so on.

- I also think there's a stigma attached to "indie wrestlers" because there have been some poor examples of "spot monkeys" "no-selling" and all that jazz. There are some great talents out there, although I think even some of those would need refining to be successful outside a niche market.

- AJ's definitely not at fault for injuries, given how many times he's done that move successfully.

Query on WWE bringing back the ECW brand, and Questions on WWE and TNA in Cuba, Total Divas, Gail Kim, Abyss, and NXT in NYC

First up, a query:
1. There are no plans for WWE to bring back the ECW brand. They've got plenty of wrestling shows as it is! They easily could have made Main Event into an ECW show, or turn Superstars into that or something, but there's no interest. I think outside of a nostalgia pop here and there for an RVD, Tommy Dreamer, etc., I don't see WWE trying to revive the ECW name after shutting that brand down a few years ago.

I actually really liked the brand, even when it became "Tuesday Night Heat". It was like the Island of Misfit Toys in ways, where talents went when no one could utilize them well on Raw or Smackdown. The ECW writers made the most of the talents they did had, with good storylines for them and second chances for talents who needed one (Miz, Morrison, Mark Henry, Zack Ryder, and Matt Hardy to name a few). It was also a great place for new talents to get their starts, like Punk, Jack Swagger, and Sheamus. As much as I liked NXT: Redemption for making use of some talents like Tyson Kidd, Derrick Bateman, Johnny Curtis, and Maxine who weren't working on the main roster, the ECW brand probably did an even better job. They certainly had a bigger roster to work with.

Query on the original Sin Cara, Nash arrested and suspended by WWE, and Questions on Punk vs. WWE, talents staying in NXT, why Brock is facing Cena, Punk in MMA, and tag team feuds

First up, a query:
1. The original Sin Cara now works in Mexico as Myzteziz. The Mistico name was passed to a new wrestler, so he couldn't go back to it.

Kevin Nash was arrested after a domestic incident with his son. That's a really sad story. I hope everyone involved gets the help they need so this doesn't happen again.

Update: More details, including Nash's attorney commenting, were reported in a local newspaper. I wouldn't assume it's the end of his relationship with WWE. That will depend on how this matter is handled going forward.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Main Event Reax - 12/23/14, Wyatt rumorkiller, more for Del Rio, GFW-NJPW update, Reigns note, Interview with Nash, Smackdown audience, Raw audience, and Questions on music royalties, The New Day, WWE demotions, Raw is Jericho, and live edits

Main Event:
Cesaro and Tyson Kidd make one hell of a team. They've put in years of work to become great wrestlers. They weren't handed a big spot because of their size or look, so they had to bust their asses to be great performers. Their dedication to the craft really shows. I think Diego and Fernando are a nice duo, too.

Kidd/Cesaro/Natalya make a fun trio. I like watching them.

Good segment with The New Day, Goldust, and Stardust. It was kind of goofy, but I liked it. I don't know why "Big E sweating" is part of the equation, but it's mostly a positive act.

Nice enough match between Summer Rae and Brie. I hope Summer has a good future, and not just because she went to college in NC.

I liked Big E vs. Stardust well enough. They can only do so much more with this feud.

Swagger vs. Harper was really solid. I hope they both got kudos for their work here.

Everything else from Tuesday is after the break.

Pearce retirement speech, new TNA show, Neville update, NXT/Smackdown lineups, Interviews with Hawkins/Natalya, another GFW event set, Hogan at live event, and Questions on WWE booking, the App, and NJPW commentary

Here's footage of Adam Pearce's retirement from in-ring competition. It was kind of ambiguous what his future is, but I hope it's training people in NXT.

TNA will air specials about its greatest matches on Destination America. That's good, I guess. It does remind viewers Sting and RVD aren't there anymore, though.

WWE is working on a main roster gimmick for Adrian Neville. It's been said to call to mind Mighty Mouse, who was small but very strong. That's a pretty old reference. I hope whatever they have in mind accentuates Neville's positives. I think putting him in a mask or something and getting over on his moveset is probably the right move. Count me cautiously optimistic.

Raw Reax - 12/22/14

Monday, December 22, 2014

Rampage update, WWE name returns from injury, WWE/NXT live event notes, TNA name taking indie bookings, Batista plugs Titus, Interview with Rollins, new NXT trainer?, and Questions on pushing Owens, The Network, Rollins vs. Reigns at WM31, Zayn vs. Owens at Mania, and ads on the mat

Rampage Jackson has signed a new contract with UFC, stating he's terminated his deal with Bellator. However, Bellator claims he's still under contract. This potentially sets up a legal issue over his status. If he's still under contract to Bellator, presumably he's still part of TNA, too?

Update: Jackson and UFC are pretty adamant he'll be able to fight in 2015. I'd assume a TNA return, already rather unlikely, isn't happening.

Darren Young returned to the ring at a live event this weekend, beating Justin Gabriel before both were attacked by Seth Rollins. I'm going to guess they're just testing out what he can do after returning from injury. That's definitely not a prominent place on the card.

Update: Young tweeted about his return. I hope his gimmick doesn't just become "proud gay wrestler". That could pigeonhole him.

Interview with JR, Questions on Taker, Jason Sensation, why Zayn's still in NXT, Hideo Itami, and bringing back ECW

Here are some highlights from a recent JR interview about GFW:
-  As much as part of me would like to see JR call a weekly TV show again, I wouldn't assume that's going to happen. Currently there aren't any set TV tapings or anything, anyway. One step at a time, but things seem to be trickling out about GFW.

- I like JR's philosophy of calling the event. Bad English commentary could ruin the relationship with NJPW. I can only imagine how some commentator would have handled the show.

- I wonder how much better WWE commentary would be if it wasn't so micromanaged.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Interviews with Hogan/Punk/Naomi/Steele, JR to interview Dixie, WWE Network updates, top name missing live events, WWEPC visitor, and Questions on Miz owning his name, Bo, Paige, Ambrose's booking, competing with the Network, and a new WWECW

Hulk Hogan talked about wanting one last title run. If it is truly his last match ever and we never have to hear any "one more match, brother" garbage, I'd be OK with him ending his career at WM31 in a brief match. Maybe a legends battle royal or something with some of his former opponents. It does make sense for him to end his career in WWE.

Dixie Carter will be on Jim Ross's podcast January 6. That's the day before TNA debuts on Destination America. I hope it's something noteworthy and not just a puff piece to promote Impact.

Interviews with Rollins/Punk, Lawler cameo, Tribute to the Troops audience, TNA announcer change official, and Questions on releasing Cesaro, Punk in UFC, NXT vs. Raw/Smackdown, Zayn vs. Owens, and Vince vs. Double J

Seth Rollins talked about C.M. Punk leaving WWE and more. Rollins was in some ways a student of Punk before either made it to WWE.

C.M. Punk talked about what name he'll use in UFC and more. There's something funny about the name "Phil 'C.M. Punk' Brooks". I wonder what name he would have gotten from the WWE developmental name generator had he not gotten to use his pre-WWE name.

Update: Here's another Punk interview. I don't anticipate Vince calling or visiting him, so moving on from wrestling is the best choice.

Interviews with Y2J/Punk, legends on Raw next month, Network expands in Canada, honor for Ziggler, why no Foley on Christmas Raw, Smackdown audience, and Questions on Divas booking, fan-submitted stories, Luke Harper, and Bully Ray-WWE

Chris Jericho talked about his next WWE return and more. I'm a little surprised he's just doing a few live event appearances. I wouldn't be surprised to see him make a surprise Rumble appearance, too, but apparently he won't be back full-time for Mania season. I doubt we've seen his last run, though.

WWE is advertising "Raw Reunion" for the Monday before Royal Rumble (Jan. 19). It will feature Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Shawn Michaels. Hopefully at least one of those guys takes an F5 or something.

C.M. Punk talked a bit more about WWE topics in an interview about going to UFC. I hope he does well there.

What happened after Raw, Catching up with Droz, ROH cameo on Raw, Orton update, long-form Smackdown commercial, Raw audience, next step for Mike Tenay, and Questions on old content on the Network, then vs. now, The New Day, and Bischoff in the WWE Hall

Here's a live report from Raw, including what happened after the show. The post-Raw dark segment was fine. Cena had just taken a big beating inside the cage, and Ambrose/Wyatt needed to recover after TLC.

Jim Ross caught up with Droz 15 years after his paralysis. Talk about someone who was dealt a really bad hand in life.

ROH wrestler Jimmy Jacobs was a Rosebud on Raw. He's not under contract for ROH, so he was able to do the appearance. I wonder how the ROH faithful feel about him taking that booking.

Query on Robbie E-NXT, TLC injuries, new TNA web show, another NXT act to main roster?, WWE bringing back old title?, Interviews with Arquette/Hogan, NXT lineup, Smackdown audience, JR's NJPW partner, Orton update, Lawler appearance, and Questions on why Takeover was so good, Brock as champ, Reigns' Slammy, and beating Rusev

First up, a query:
1. As far as I know, Robbie E's brother is still training in NXT. I hope he does well there.

Luke Harper got five staples on the side of his head after TLC. Dolph Ziggler needed a wound on his scalp glued shut. Big Show banged up his hip. I'm sure a lot of people are feeling the effects of the show. There were some crazy spots.

TNA is launching a new web series ahead of going to Destination America. It sounds a lot like Impact 365.

TNA coverage update

As TNA moves to a lower-tier network in 2015, I question whether there's enough interest left in covering it. I would hesitate to continue considering it a major promotion with the move. While I'd love to expand to covering ROH and other promotions of the size TNA is going to, realistically that's not an option.

Right now, I'm thinking of covering the promotion through Lockdown and then reassessing their situation. I could do the same after Slammiversary and Bound For Glory. What does anyone reading think?

Final Impacts on Spike pushed back, TLC guest, More NXT praise, Interviews with Zayn/Punk, and Questions on Finn Balor, Zayn vs. Owens, brass rings, NXT names as champion, and WWE continuity

The Dec. 17 Impact Wrestling is scheduled for 11 p.m., and the Dec. 24 episode is set to begin airing at midnight. That will give TNA practice with getting low viewership ahead of the move to
Destination America. They have very little momentum going into 2015.

Daniel Bryan was backstage at TLC. When the heck will we see this guy wrestle again!?

The recent NXT special was highly-received by those on the main roster as well. NXT continues to churn out solid stuff.

TNA Champion misses Puerto Rican date, new TNA programming, HHH gets gift from IWC, Naomi note, and Questions on Judas Devlin, Finn Balor, El Dandy, and Uhaa Nation

Bobby Roode missed a show in Puerto Rico due to missing his flight. He was set to face the World Champion of WWL in the main event. It's possible he makes up the date in January. That really sucks for everyone involved. As if TNA needed more negative press right now.

Dixie Carter announced a new TNA show for Destination America. This is probably just bonus content from Impact or something like Reaction (which was terrible). I'm not really excited either way. Unless they get a "Sunday Night Heat" kind of show like Xplosion on TV with actual matches, I'm not really interested in other content from them.

The wrestling board of Reddit sent Triple H a fruit basket after the recent NXT special. Needless to say, the show was quite well-received.

Takeover notes, NXT injury, Interviews with Riley/Rollins, Kendrick-WWE update, Network notes, another Hogan date, WWE Week set, Kamala update, Santino surgery, and Questions on Punk's publicity, TNA as competition, getting other talents work in NXT, and getting indies on TV

Triple H put over the effort of the talents at the NXT Takeover special. Clever guy. I think a number of talents are grabbing brass rings. Vince just won't let many of them actually take them.

Morale at NXT was pretty high after the Takeover special. It was a really good show. NXT is impressive.

Kevin Owens is believed to have received a broken nose in his NXT debut. Parker hit him so hard, it opened a gash on his palm and hand. That's pretty intense. Welcome to WWE, Owens!

Finn Balor is expected to continue to have paint in upcoming appearances, at least at major shows. He has a really good look. He's a star in the making.

Interviews with Punk/Austin, WWE visitors, upcoming WWE guests, former TNA name trying out in NXT, Del Rio to ROH, Takeover notes, and Questions on Punk-UFC, Stardust, Cesaro, and closing TLC

C.M. Punk touched on WWE topics in an interview about going to UFC. I suspect he's going to talk less and less about wrestling as he shifts phases in his career. Right now, that's what he's known for. I still wonder if he'll "pull a Brock Lesnar" and return in a few years to headline Mania. If that does happen, it will be years down the line. He's done with wrestling at this point.

Daniel Bryan was backstage at Raw. Remember when that guy wrestled? I'm ready for him to get back to kicking heads in and making people tap.

Adrian Neville will work the Dec. 26 WWE live event in Madison Square Garden. I wonder when we'll see him called up to the main roster. I honestly don't think he's ready from an "it factor"/promo perspective. He's a good high-flyer, though.

Update on NXT act to main roster, new Impact logo, Interviews with Punk/HHH, TNA-Destination America debut set, and Questions on "ATM Eric", Punk returning, positioning Ziggler, part-timers, and pushing Cesaro

A vignette for The Ascension is set for Smackdown. I hope they're a solid addition to the main roster. They've definitely gotten a lot of fine-tuning down in NXT.

Dixie Carter revealed the new Impact Wrestling logo. I'm not a huge fan, honestly. I can live with it, though. They definitely needed a new identity for the new home.

C.M. Punk talked about the transition from WWE to UFC and more:
 - Punk didn't screw Punk; Vince and HHH screwed Punk.

- I don't think Punk hates being famous. I think he just hates some of the side effects of it (like overeager fans who don't respect his space).

- It definitely looks like he's moving on from wrestling. I'd assume we've seen the last of him in the ring.

Main Event note, AWA announcer passes away, what happened after Raw, TNA promotes during Raw, HoFer's daughter a Rosebud, Charlotte notes, more Network content, final TLC lineup, Tribute photos, Slammys voting note, Interviews with Otunga/JR, Raw audience, HoFers booked for events, and Questions on unionizing wrestlers, hitting WWE where it hurts, the 30-day title rule, Rollins cashing in, and Luke Harper

This week's Main Event was a recap show ahead of TLC, since WWE taped a Tribute to the Troops special ahead of Smackdown. No matches were taped.

Famed AWA announcer Rodger Kent passed away at the age of 90 due to complications from pneumonia. He passed away on Nov. 28, but I'm guessing this was lost due to the other big story of the time. I hope he's set for the WWE Hall of Fame at some point.

Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt brawled with a kendo stick after Raw. Not an actual match, just a dark segment. I'm sure they'll pull out all the stops at the PPV.

NXT Takeover: R Evolution preview

Read on for how I'd book tomorrow's NXT special.

Query on the WWE Champion for 2015, NXT name works live event, British Boot Camp 2 winner, UFC name at WM31?, top indie name to WWE?, Interviews with Titus/Slick, new WWE PPV name, Royal Rumble poster, WWE return rumorkiller, WWE on Del Rey passing, Orton update, returning NXT guest trainer, new matches for TLC, Smackdown audience, next week's GM, and Questions on how Vince is seen by the locker room, Vince's control, TNA-GFW theory, pushing wrestlers to work hurt, and Punk suing WWE

First up, a query:
1. I haven't the slightest idea who will be WWE Champion at the end of 2015, but there's a decent chance it will be the person who will be dropping the title at WM32. I doubt WWE's booked that far in advance.

Charlotte worked a six-Diva tag at a live event Sunday night. I still think she'll do really well on the main roster. She's had some great matches so far.

At the end of British Boot Camp 2, Mark Andrews has won a spot on the TNA roster. He's a 22-year-old high-flyer. I'm hesitant to endorse him at that age.

TNA departure?, Punk to UFC (seriously), Ambrose update, Foley guest hosting, live event notes, and Questions on blading in TNA, Mercury talking to Punk, fixing TNA, and more

Although it has not been officially confirmed by TNA, it is believed Brittany is no longer part of the company. She made her return to SHINE under the name Santana Garrett, and her official website refers to her as a former Knockout.

C.M. Punk will now be competing in UFC. That's quite the surprising acquisition! I didn't think we'd see him compete at all post-WWE, but we'll see how he does. Hopefully this puts the "when is he coming back to wrestling" stuff to bed for a while.

Update: Dana White talked about meeting him. I'm not a huge fan of White, personally.

Interviews with JR/Bray/Cesaro/Cabana/Dixie/Manik/Ryback/Jey Uso, new logo for TNA, Lesnar-UFC note, more R Evolution hype, and Question on Dixie working with Russo again

Jim Ross talked about C.M. Punk walking out and more:
- I don't think Punk was attacking Ryback just based on his look.

- I'm glad JR would squash rumors when he could. It's terrible there's so much petty BS in the locker room.

- I'm sure JR was unappreciated in that role. So many people in tough positions are.

Bray Wyatt talked about his current feud, Sister Abigail, and more. I have a feeling we're in for another weird, spooky moment at TLC.

Zeb Colter posted about a surgery on his Twitter, likely to sell the angle of him being injured. Zeb's amazing. He definitely belongs in the Hall of Fame for all his work over the years.

Heath Slater responded to the lawsuit against him. I don't intend to cover this case all the way through, but thought it should be noted WWE and Slater have addressed it.

Interviews with Angle/Dixie, more on part-timers in WWE, assorted WWE press and notes, Cena pushes locker room, Raw audience, and Questions on pushing Reigns, shaking up Survivor Series, the end of WCW, and Punk leaving

Vince Russo talked to Kurt Angle on his amusingly named podcast, The Swerve. Here are highlights:
- We all know Hulk's all about what's best for the Hulkster, jack. Sting and Angle needed to step aside and let Hogan and Easy E run the ship (into an iceberg).

- Russo might be considered one of those critics Vince McMahon doesn't listen to.

Paul Heyman's client BROCK LESNAR is officially being advertised for WrestleMania 31 and the Raw after. Could that Raw be his last night in the company?

Chris Jericho has been added to WWE live events in Canada, on Jan. 31, Feb. 1, and Feb. 28. Whether he's coming back for a real run or just a few dates is up in the air at this point.

Main Event Reax - 12/2/14, WWE nickname official, Raw cameo, Jarrett on WWF departure, Brock updates, more on Sheik documentary, Interview with Aries, Reigns update, Smackdown audience, TLC matches, and Questions on WCW contracts, the WWE locker room banding together, bringing back The Authority, The Monday Night War, and pushing Rowan

Main Event:
I liked Swagger vs. Titus. Swagger's really getting in a groove lately, and Titus fills his role well.

I really liked the post-match promo. It's probably too soon to beat Rusev, but Swagger has really impressed me as someone with the potential to be U.S. Champion.

The tag match was good enough. I'm not crazy about The Bunny as a gimmick, but everyone here did good work.

Solid Usos promo. They're pretty good.

Nice match between Truth and Fandango. I think Fandango's got something worth developing. Truth remains a solid veteran act.

A "stairs match" should be pretty interesting. Honestly, they could probably use a stipulation to make Rowan vs. Show a good match.

Nice pre-match. Miz is a good heel, for sure.

I think the Mizdow stuff is starting to run a little thin, but overall I really liked this match. TLC's being set up to be a really good PPV.

Austin interviews McMahon, NXT lineup, more Punk fallout, and Questions on Punk's podcast, getting the Network from the App, indie names on the main roster, and Austin interviewing McMahon

WWE.com talked to Stone Cold ahead of his podcast with Vince McMahon. Good teaser. I like that he more or less no-sold Hogan's politicking.

Update: Austin talked to Rolling Stone as well. I definitely want to hear Taker's thoughts on the streak ending and other career highlights once he hangs up the boots. He's earned the right to be a family man and appear out-of-character.

As for people not taking the ball, I think that's less true now. Some people are really going all out when they have a chance (Ambrose, Wyatt, Rollins, and Ziggler come to mind). But I would like to see people let loose more and have more time to show their characters. I see this more as

Survivor Series DVD cover, TNA tapings update, and Questions on Punk's podcast, The Authority in real life, and NDAs

Here's the cover for the DVD for this year's Survivor Series. I like it. I wonder if it's set to entice people shopping who didn't know Sting was at the event.

All three UK dates for TNA in January will be TV tapings. I'm not hugely surprised, although I wonder what this means for potential future One Night Only events. I also wonder which British Boot Camp 2 people will end up joining the roster full-time, and whether we'll see the likes of Kurt Angle and the Hardys as they're not advertised. I think they could be saving the reveal of Angle for a later date to push ticket sales, but who knows with TNA. I don't know if Jeff Hardy can work the UK given his record, but Matt might be in the clear.

Smackdown promo cut short, Cabana on Punk podcast, Survivor Series DVD note, Slammys set, and Questions on Sting's music, pushing Reigns, AJ leaving WWE, HOH 8, and WWE books

Nikki Bella and John Cena commented on the former's promo being edited down from this week's Smackdown. It was probably a time thing. I'm curious to see what she said about AJ, and if there's more "shooting" to come.

Colt Cabana Tweeted about the recent C.M. Punk podcast. I didn't see it as Cabana trying to get a big name at all; just letting Punk get some closure on a difficult time in his life.

The cover for the DVD of this year's Survivor Series will feature John Cena, The Authority, and Sting. I'm not really surprised at the lack of Dolph, Bray, and Ambrose, but they deserve credit for what they did then.

NXT R Evolution lineup, More from big Punk interview, Interview with Piper, change to TNA commentary, a look at WWE's business, and Questions on Sting at WM31, WWE airing WCW, Brock's momentum, no-compete clauses, and the Network

Currently set for the next NXT Takeover special, R Evolution:
- NXT Championship vs. NXT Career: Adrian Neville vs. Sami Zayn
- NXT Women's Championship: Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks
- NXT Tag Team Championship: Lucha Dragons vs. The Vaudevillains
- Finn Balor and Hideo Itami vs. The Ascension
- Kevin Owens debuts.

That's a big lineup! A good deal of talent involved. The name's goofy, though.

The WWE Network is now cleared to be broadcast on other carriers in Canada. That's good! I hope that means results for WWE.

Query on Mark Henry shoots, Punk interview really makes waves, and Questions on Gail Kim, Rusev, underrated NXT names, and the anonymous Raw GM

First up, a query:
1. I don't know of any shoot Mark Henry has done on The Rock.

C.M. Punk gave a major interview about the end of his WWE run. Here are some highlights. Where to start?

- I wonder how long Punk intended to disappear for after the Rumble. Not that I blame him, but I suppose he technically did breach his contract by walking out. Honestly, it never should have gotten to that point. There are a lot of red flags here that weren't properly addressed.

- I'm glad Punk told Vince and HHH what a lot of us were feeling. Using Punk to set up HHH vs. Nash in 2011 was all kinds of BS. I liked the idea of elevating Miz and R-Truth as a new nWo, but the focus ended up being on HHH, Nash, Rock, and Cena instead of emerging stars. It was really, really stupid.

Read on for my thoughts on last night's NXT and Superstars.

BNB update, Foley note, Sheamus update, Bryan semi-update, Interview with Burchill and Questions on the future of TNA, Low Ki, Punk as a non-wrestler, and Angle

Bad News Barrett now has a green card, so he's a legal resident of the U.S.. No more issues on that front. I wonder when he'll be back in the ring?

Mick Foley's One Man Show was not filmed for WWE Network after all. That's a shame. I'm curious as to how well that would do.

Sheamus is back in Ireland, so he's either recovering from surgery or taking time off. No word on when we'll see him again. WWE has a lot of names on the shelf right now, it seems.

Main Event Reax - 11/25/14, what happened after Raw, Raw changes, Larry visits Raw, Interview with King Mo, TNA TV schedule, 2015 TNA tapings set, Raw audience, and Questions on Sin Cara I, Team Cena, HHH, and contract signings

Main Event:
Nice opening promo by Miz. I think he'll make a great foil for Mizdow when the latter inevitably splits from him.

Nice tag match. They're doing a good job setting up the inevitable Miz/Mizdow feud.

I've missed Fandango. I've been a fan since NXT: Redemption (he was a little bland during Season 4).

Nice undercard match between Rose and Fandango. I think both of them are talented, but more experience will help both (particularly Rose).

Silly Thanksgiving segment, but I was OK with it. Tyson's a great character.

Good match between Natalya and Layla. I'd rather see them feuding for the title than the Bellas.

I liked Ambrose vs. Kane well enough. I wasn't a big fan of the ending, but it was fine to give Ambrose a win without hurting the former WWE/World Champion.

NJPW on U.S. TV, assorted WWE press, TNA vs. Puerto Rico, Survivor Series notes, NXT lineup, plans for Sting, AJ Lee update, Interviews with Rollins/Charlotte, Smackdown audience, theme for next week's Raw, and Questions on the future of WWE, a triple cage match, WWE's roster, Cesaro, and Balor vs. Itami

AXS TV, formerly HDNet, will be airing 13 episodes of a series showcasing important recent cards from NJPW. I'm curious to see what this means, if anything, for GFW. It's showing past events instead of ongoing material, so theoretically GFW can still show current events. When the heck are THEY going to have a show? It feels like this was announced forever ago and there still aren't plans for tapings or anything.

WWE didn't do a Fallout for Survivor Series because the PPV ran long. That happens sometimes.

WWE will soon add its YouTube content to the WWE Network. That's a good move.

Apparently a UFC fighter used The Brood's theme Saturday, and another used Badstreet USA. That's awesome!

Tributes on the Network, more on Sheamus, return notes, Austin back in WWE, and Questions on turning Cesaro face, Destination America, Rowan as a face, Swagger, and guest hosts

Tribute to the Troops content has been added to WWE Network. That's cool.

Sheamus' recent Twitter war was covered by FOX Sports. I doubt they'll really go at it.

Chris Jericho teased fans with a comeback for Survivor Series. That was never in the plans, as he was part of a Fozzy show that night. The Royal Rumble's coming up soon, though...

There was also some Internet chatter about C.M. Punk coming back at Survivor Series. He's clearly focused on things outside of wrestling at this point, though.

Survivor Series preview

Read on for how I'd book tonight's WWE PPV.

Query on WWE banning wrestling, The Rumble going extreme?, Survivor Series names, part-timer updates, Questions on the reaction to the Streak ending, Low Ki in WWE, Cabana/Hero returning, and gimmick matches

First up, a query:
1. There's definitely been a rumor going around about WWE banning the word "wrestling" (and by extension, "wrestler", etc.) on its programs. I don't know if it's an official policy, but they're definitely "sports entertainment" with "Superstars" and don't see themselves as "rasslin'". Whether that will change under HHH and Stephanie remains to be seen.

There's talk of having at least one ECW cameo for the Royal Rumble in Philadelphia. RVD is the obvious bet, but there's also speculation of Tommy Dreamer and/or the Dudley Boys appearing. Dreamer's a producer for TNA, and Team 3D could be heading back there, too. I wouldn't count on them appearing, as much as some want it.

NXT live event results, NXT back on the main roster?, Punk merch still for sale, TNA-Destination America updates, Thanksgiving-themed Impact, Interviews with Reigns/Kamala/Kane/Sheamus, Sheamus Twitter battle, and Questions on an all elimination-match PPV, the free month of the Network, the Tombstone, and Mount Rushmore

Here are results from a recent NXT house show. I'm curious to see what this Shoot Nation group is all about. I'm also ready to see Kevin Owens work some live events to get his feet wet in the NXT ring. They must have confidence in him to succeed right out of the gate if he's not doing tours.

Update: Here's another NXT live event. No Balor on live events either, interestingly enough.

NXT Women's Champion Charlotte is booked for Raw and Smackdown the week of the next Takeover special, so maybe she'll have a match to promote the brand. I hope so!

WWE is continuing to sell a lot of C.M. Punk merchandise. Either they already had a lot made or the two sides have come to a deal to keep selling merch with the previous designs. Punk remains retired and out of the wrestling bubble.

More on TNA's new TV deal and future including talent contracts, Interviews with Foley/Mickie/Hogan, Sheamus hurt?, Impact audience, Ryder update, and Questions on King of the Mountain, ROH names in WWE, Bellator in TNA, Low Ki in WWE, and venues

TNA is currently setting up its next TV tapings. It's possible they have dates in mid-December in the Midwest , but they could also wait until early January in NYC. The UK tour will also likely feature tapings of Impact. Either way, I doubt we see any new TNA material until 2015.

TNA will have opportunities to expand beyond the two hours of Impact Wrestling, as they will be the centerpiece of Destination America. It might be good to branch out with something new, as it seems like they've hit the ceiling of how many people will watch their wrestling show.

Update: It's entirely possible future One Night Only PPVs will end up on Destination America in the form of monthly specials. If that works better for TNA than the current situation, I say it's worth doing.

Puerto Rican name from '80s passes, Smackdown lineup, big WWE distribution deal, ECW Exposed Part 2, Big Cena ad, details on TNA's new TV home, and Questions on replays on the WWE Network, fixing Bo, Rollins cashing in, commitments, and Shahs

Eighties Puerto Rican star Brad Batten has passed away. He was only 56? That's fairly young.

On this week's Smackdown:
- Seth Rollins and Kane vs. Ryback and Big Show
- Luke Harper vs. Cesaro
- Los Maradores vs. The Miz and Damien Mizdow
- The Dean Ambrose Survival Kit
- Triple H and John Cena raise the stakes for Survivor Series

Harper vs. Cesaro should be great!

WWE has made a new distribution agreement with Warner Bros.. That's great!

Main Event Reax - 11/18/14, Query on big names in TNA, Mero update, Sheamus injury note, Raw audience, Del Rio to TNA?, Authority note, Interviews with Foley/Y2J, new Survivor Series match, and Questions on reliving ECW, Liverpool, the initials WWE, The Authority, and Hunicara

Main Event:
I liked all the pre-match stuff for the opening match. Sometimes it's the little things that make all this matter.

I liked the tag match. WWE's got a pretty good division right now. I think The Ascension and The New Day will make great additions to it, and shake things up for everyone involved.

Good post-match. I like the Dusts as heels for some reason.

I liked Paige vs. Alicia well enough. They did the most with what they had. Where does Paige go from here now that she's not in the title picture?

Pretty weird Rose segment, but I think there's some real potential to him as a heel. Those who've seen him as Leo Kruger know what I'm talking about.

Wow. Good character progression for a match featuring a guy in a bunny costume. Kidd's a great heel, and Rose is growing on me in that regard.

Kidd's an awesome heel, as that post-match showed. I hope he's got a big future.

I enjoyed the Bray Wyatt promo. He brings something different to the table, and I appreciate that.

Nice ending to the show. Swagger's a talented guy for situations like this, and Wyatt's hopefully got a lot of staying power.

Maddox note, NXT lineup, Bryan update, EC3 to miss time, WWE Week on USA Network, Smackdown audience, Brock contract update, Reigns' next opponent, New Day update, WWE looks for more international talent, Rumble return set?, what happened after Raw, more Grumpy Cat, and Questions on TNA going under, the Dudleys, the Wyatts, and Rollins

Brad Maddox is still under contract to WWE. He's just in the Alumni section of WWE.com due to his fictional firing months back. Will he be the new GM figure if/when Team Authority goes down at Survivor Series? It would be poetic justice.

Set for this week's NXT:
- Becky Lynch vs. Bayley
- Baron Corbin vs. Elias Simpson
- Bull Dempsey vs. Steve Cutler
- Tyson Kidd vs. CJ Parker
- Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady vs. The Mechanics

Honestly, that's not as strong of a lineup with no Zayn, Neville, Itami, or Balor in action. Itami and Balor are on the show, but not in an advertised match. I think there's still some potential there, and everyone involved could use the TV time and experience. That's ultimately what NXT is about.

Hogan hype, Wolves update, Del Rio/Ricardo appear in U.S., Mero health scare, Punk tweet makes waves, another date for Brock, Flair and Reigns advertised for live event, WWE ad on UFC, TNA TV situation mapped out, and Questions on Survivor Series, TNA commentary, Styles in WWE, midcard titles, and fixing Reigns

Hulk Hogan said he's training for a comeback. Unless he's jobbing to Rusev in 30 seconds, I don't really care to see it. I've had my fill of him in the ring since the matches with Orton and HBK.

Davey Richards' medical issue came from his EMT job, not wrestling. I'd expect Richards vs. Edwards in 2015 for TNA (with them ending up back as a team later in the year as TNA runs out of ideas for them as singles stars).

The former Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez appeared as surprise guests at Tommy Dreamer's HOH iPPV yesterday. I'd love to see them get signed by TNA, but I think Lucha Underground is far more likely.

More exposing of ECW, TNA TV notes, Interview with Beth Phoenix, TNA names at HOH7, and Questions on the build to Survivor Series, acknowledging NXT, different legends, One Night Only buyrates, and a soldier character in WWE

WWE will show a second ECW Exposed special on Tuesday, featuring more material from the interview between Joey Styles and Paul Heyman. I look forward to it.

It's being reported Spike will not be airing Impact Wrestling in 2015. They will air the final currently-taped episode this Wednesday before pre-empting them next week for the Thanksgiving holiday. How Spike handles the show in December remains to be seen, although there are expected to be a number of "best of TNA" episodes aired. There could also be some pre-emptions for the end of December. It's definitely the end of an era for TNA. Will it be the end of TNA period?

Update: TNA is expected to announce a new TV deal this week, possibly following the airing of this week's Impact. They have holds on dates in NYC for January 6, 7, and 8, so that would be when they tape the next episodes. January 1 is a Thursday, so they're either staying on Wednesdays or will need some sort of intro to TNA episode put together for that night. They really dodged a bullet with keeping a TV presence. I'm very curious to see what TNA looks like in 2015. Will they be able to bring back Angle, Gail, Team 3D, etc.?

Assorted WWE press, Wyatts update, Khali note, top TNA name hurt, and Questions on the Network and Sami Zayn

Hulk Hogan was in the San Francisco area doing press for WM31. That's a pretty good use for him.

Update: WWE held a WrestleMania party in the area as the pre-sale for tickets began.

Luke Harper and Erick Rowan continue to work together on WWE live events. I think they'll remain separate on TV; the cards they're currently working could have been booked enough in advance where the producers "have" to use Rowan in some way and that makes the most sense.

ROH/GFW update, WWE TV update in Spain, Brock appearance set, Foley on the Network, TTTT press, Impact audience, NXT live event notes, former World Champion done with WWE, and Questions on WWE's pushes, beating Rusev, accidental blood, WM30 on the Network, and Justin Gabriel

Ring of Honor talents will indeed be able to work the NJPW PPV on January 4, despite it being distributed by GFW. I'm glad that's going to work out for everyone. I wouldn't assume this is leading to some sort of working agreement between ROH and GFW, but at least the two sides are on friendly terms at the moment.

WWE has announced a two-year extension to their TV contract in Spain. That's good news!

Brock Lesnar is advertised for the February 9 Raw.  I imagine he'll be on TV fairly regularly during Mania season.

An upcoming edition of Mick Foley's standup tour is believed to be being taped for the WWE Network. I wonder how well that will do for the company.

WWE touts WM30 success, Vince vs. UK audience, former soccer star at WWE show, Interviews with Hernandez/Edge/Death of WCW author, Bully vs. TNA, live event note, TNA TV update, WWE Network hiccup, and Questions on Rusev vs. Owens, MITB, Brock in the Rumble, Bryan's surgery, and music rights

WWE spotlighted the success of WM30 for New Orleans in a piece promoting WM31. Very impressive numbers. At this point, I think Hogan teasing getting back in the ring might just be a publicity ploy. It's an effective one, though.

Vince McMahon came out during a commercial break at Smackdown to rile up a crowd he felt wasn't reacting enough. The crowds for the current European tour have been pretty "contrarian" in the sense of taking over the show, etc.. It's a shame. I think they do have some legitimate grievances, though, as far as the Network goes.

Former goalkeeper Tim Weise will be part of an upcoming WWE live event in some fashion. He's definitely built. I'm curious as to how he'd do in the Performance Center.

First up, a query:
1. I haven't seen anything about Luke Hawx working WWE recently, but he's had some "enhancement roles" over the years there.

William Regal underwent neck fusion surgery fairly recently. That would seem to rule out an in-ring return. I think he's fine in the role he's in now and has more than earned the right to stay out of the ring.

Big E will indeed join Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods under a new gimmick. I'm very glad to see that. They're all talented and can contribute to the main roster well.

Del Rio and WWE settle, Interview with Rollins, Gabriel update, NXT return, title match official for next Sunday, a very grumpy Raw, Punk's new gig, Garcia note, Smackdown audience, Questions on the reigning and defending heavyweight champion of the world, and shaking up Raw

WWE and the former Alberto Del Rio have reached a settlement. The former Del Rio (who's worked as El Patron Alberto and just "Alberto" since his WWE run ended) is now able to take U.S. bookings, while the two sides have agreed not to disparage each other. WWE was attempting to prevent Alberto from wrestling in the States due to breaching his contract, but Alberto got attorneys involved and this is the result. It's entirely possible we see Alberto in Lucha Underground in 2015, and Rey Mysterio could be headed there later in the year, too.

Update: Here's an interview with Alberto. Props to him for being able to forge his own path. I think if there was a solid competitor to WWE in the U.S., a number of talents would jump ship and try to become competition.

Update: WWE issued a statement. I hope both sides put this behind them and grow from here.

Seth Rollins talked about the big feuds he's had and more. I'm glad WWE put The Shield over so strong vs. Evolution, given how HHH and Batista aren't wrestling now. Good piece.

Diva hurt, Ryder update, Cesaro OK, WWE vs. the UK, and Questions on Rusev attacking a soldier, NXT at Mania, Ambrose vs. Rollins, Bram headlining TNA, and Ambrose's finisher

Eva Marie is recovering from an injury. Hopefully the next season of "Total Divas" is about her being sent back to developmental. At least turn her into a manager or something while she still learns the ropes. Maybe Tyson could "cheat on" Natalya and end up with her? Working with those two would be helpful to catch her up as a worker.

Zack Ryder's injury came from his match with Rusev. How's he going to pump his fist with a torn rotator cuff?

Cesaro got his stitches removed recently. It's a shame his career's getting derailed. He had so much momentum after WM30.

Ryder hurt, MMA superkick, Orton update, Interviews with Hogan/Ambrose, Reigns getting coaching, assorted WWE press, WWE tour notes, and Questions on NXT injuries, ECW on the Network, and Memphis

Zack Ryder tweeted about being injured and possibly needing surgery. I wonder what he does when his current contract expires. I wouldn't blame him for searching out other options.

An MMA knockout was compared to Shawn Michaels hitting Sweet Chin Music. Meh. Slow news day, I guess.

Randy Orton has been added back to advertising for WWE's year-end MSG show, where he'll be facing Kane. I can't say I'm really excited for that feud, but I think they can make it work.

Query on a new TNA video game, NXT Title match on live events, NXT live event notes, more Impact speculation, ECW Exposed note, Smackdown moving in Canada as well, and Questions on Matt Striker, ECW Week, another Orton, and Survivor Series

First up, a query:
1. I haven't heard anything about a new TNA video game coming in 2015, or at any time for that matter. TNA is hardly a hot product right now.

Adrian Neville defended the NXT Championship against Sami Zayn as part of the main roster tour of Europe. That's hardly news at this point. I want to see what Neville's got in him as a heel, as his current personality is a bit dry.

Here are results from a recent NXT live event. I'm ready to see what Solomon Crowe brings to the table, after SO many dark matches at NXT tapings, etc. I wonder why Balor and Owens (it's weird using their new names) didn't work the show.

Interviews with Hall/Sheamus/Malenko/Iron Sheik, Cena correction, NJPW PPV update, when Smackdown will change nights, more on ECW Exposed, Cena press, WWE producer's son wrestling, Impact audience, and Questions on ROH-GFW, LU, older content on the Network, and Sami Zayn

Scott Hall talked about his son training to be in wrestling and more. I really appreciate Hall having his son work other places before coming to NXT, so he has to pay his dues like some of the other talents had to. I definitely think the Freebirds should be in the Hall of Fame. Also, big kudos to the Bad Guy for turning his life around and staying clean. I hope that's a permanent change.

John Cena was filming a cameo for "Parks & Recreation" Monday. Keeping him off WWE TV for any reason is good by me, but I know he has a lot of fans who wanted to see him there.

NJPW's Jan. 4 PPV is slated to go four hours, as is usually the length of the event. I'm curious to see how it will be received in the States.

Update: ROH is not expected to pull talents from that event, which I'm sure a lot of fans are happy about (well, "a lot" by ROH standards).

Orton update, more on MMA name wrestling, Vince comments on Network in the UK, where Cena was during Raw, live event notes, Impact changes nights in another country, no Impact before Thanksgiving, ECW Week, and Questions on writing for WWE, using Hogan, Show vs. Henry, and Bray in the Cell

WWE has removed Randy Orton from advertising for their year-end tour in order to match the current storyline of him being out indefinitely. He is still scheduled to appear then.

TMZ picked up the story of the former MMA fighter training for wrestling. I wish him luck. It won't be easy.

Vince McMahon apologized for delaying the launch of the WWE Network in the UK. Fans aren't pleased with the delay, to say the least.

John Cena was in Los Angeles Monday night, likely filming something for part of "The Nest". I wonder if he'd ever actually consider "pulling a Rock" and going to Hollywood on a more permanent basis.

Main Event:
Good enough match to start us up. I like these two teams. I hope Stardust has an awesome career ahead of him.

Tyson Kidd's such a hateable guy, and I mean that in praise of his current heel work. Great segment.

Nice match between Gabriel and Axel. I think Axel's kind of refreshed from the last time we saw him. He's a great undercard worker, and that's a fine role for him for now.

Great to see Sami Zayn get a video package. Is this him coming to the main roster for real or just a special occasion? I'm guessing it's something of a tryout for a bigger role.

Good match between Zayn and Tyson. I think it's really time to be thinking of how to use Zayn on the main roster on a regular basis.

I hope Orton's comeback goes off well. He could be a great addition to the face side while remaining an antihero.

Good little match to show what Bray can do. It was fine to set up his match at Survivor Series.

Live event photos, NXT lineup, former Del Rio to wrestle on U.S. TV in 2015, Interviews with Teddy/Bryan, Dallas injured, Network delayed in the UK, TNA/W1 update, NXT names at Raw, Smackdown audience, latest on Punk merchandise, Cena note, Smackdown main event, what happened after Raw, and Questions on Survivor Series, Network subscriptions, Regal in the HoF, and Rollins' briefcase

Here are some great photos from WWE's recent live event in Syracuse. I wish I had a camera that did that well.

Set for the next edition of NXT:
- Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch vs. Bayley and Charlotte
- Tyson Kidd vs. Dash Wilder
- Sami Zayn vs. Tyler Breeze
- Hideo Itami brings a friend to face the challenge of The Ascension

If you're not watching NXT, start.

The former Alberto Del Rio broke news of going to Lucha Underground in 2015. I've heard rave reviews of the promotion, and the former Del Rio only adds to their prestige. I was hoping to see him in TNA, but it looks like the wrestling landscape could be leaving that company behind in 2015.

1. As for WWE family relations: Bo Dallas and Bray Wyatt are brothers; Diego and Fernando are cousins; Goldust and Stardust are half-brothers; The Usos are brothers also related to The Rock, Roman Reigns, and Tamina Snuka; The Bella Twins are sisters.

Adrian Neville retained the NXT Championship against Sami Zayn on a main roster live event this weekend. I assume we'll see both on the main roster by this time next year.

Luke Harper and Erick Rowan teamed up this weekend to beat R-Truth and Mark Henry when Henry abandoned Truth. I wouldn't assume this means Harper and Rowan are sticking together. The producers on-hand were probably just working with who was there.

First up, a query:
1. Ric Flair wrestled Jack Veneno in Puerto Rico during one of his reigns as NWA World Champion. The NWA booked Flair to win, but a decision was made "on the fly" without their approval to have Veneno win the title to avoid a riot from the crowd. The NWA doesn't recognize this title change, and business went on with Flair defending as champion despite that result.

Lucha Underground is interested in bringing in both the former Alberto Del Rio and Rey Mysterio. I think both would be big gets for the company. Hopefully Mysterio will be free from his WWE deal shortly (or at least when the one-year extension expires in Q2 2015).

A number of TNA talents worked a joint show with Wrestle-1 recently. The Great Sanada won a three-way match involving Matt Hardy and Tajiri (pinning Tajiri), while all three members of The Bro-Mans lost a six-man tag to three W1 talents. I'm glad those talents are finding work under the TNA banner.

GFW update, Interviews with Rock/AJ, promoter passes away, Impact audience, another Lesnar appearance, more WWE scholarships, Network-UK updates, and Questions on Gail Kim, Divas in a Cell, Team Authority, Cena vs. Orton, and a free month of the Network

In November, GFW is expected to announce talents signed, venues for live events, and more international PPVs to be distributed. It looks like things might finally be coming together for them to produce something concrete. I'm interested to see what form it takes. It's easy to see it as competing with TNA as it seems to decline, but I think in many ways it should be examined as its own entity going in its own direction.

The Rock talked about coming back to wrestling in 2011 and more. That's a really good piece overall. Very interesting.

AJ Lee talked about Paige, Batman, and more. I'm glad she and Paige are going so far.

MMA name now training to wrestle, Interview with Borash, WWE press, WWE tryout video, Cena not set for Raw, new WWE PPV name?, Steen's WWE name, and Questions on adult content in WWE, the Streak ending, tag team streeet fights, late WCW vs. current WWE, and WWE's schedule

Matthew Riddle, who after appearing on the Ultimate Fighter has competed for both UFC and Bellator with a record of 8-3, is now training to be a wrestler alongside his wife. I'm curious to see how they do. He's got his work cut out for him following the wrestling careers or lack thereof of King Mo and Rampage Jackson.

Jeremy Borash gave a long-form interview about the current state of TNA and more. I wouldn't assume the clock strikes midnight for them at the end of 2014, but they're definitely in a concerning place with no U.S. TV deal for next year.

Daniel Bryan, Stephanie McMahon, and Darren Young attended an anti-bullying rally. I hope we see Bryan and Darren Young in the ring sooner rather than later.

Main Event Reax - 10/28/14, Interviews with AJ/Dolph/Hogan/Striker, NXT stars talk Halloween, NXT injury update, Bully teaser, Angle contract update, Reigns update, Punk correction, Raw audience, Del Rio update, more on lawsuit, Bryan update, and Questions on a new Wyatt Family, Summerslam 2015, the Network, and Vince's booking

Main Event:
I liked the opening segment, but wasn't it supposed to be about Mark Henry turning on Big Show? WWE booking can be quite haphazard these days.

Good match for those two teams. The angle continues.

I enjoyed Paige vs. Natalya. It's nice to see Paige doing something different for the time being. I hope she continues to develop a separate identity from AJ.

I liked Bo's promo. It's good for him to want to be part of the main event of a major PPV.

Fine main event for keeping Sheamus' momentum going.

Foley on HIAC ending, Stardust update, NXT lineup, another Sting appearance, Haynes lawsuit update, Wyatt note, more WWEPC press, Punk-WWE update, notes on recent WWE tryouts and signings, Smackdown audience, what happened after Raw, and Questions on making Raw must-see, AJ vs. Trish, the brand extension, Taker's future, and Punk the ROH HoFer

Mick Foley defended the ending to the Ambrose/Rollins HIAC match. I'm mostly OK with it. It's all a matter of where they go from here and if Ambrose does get to be a true top guy.

WWE is selling Stardust masks and gloves, so I expect the character to continue for a while. Everyone involved has done a great job with the new gimmick.

Set for this week's NXT:
- Tag team battle royal to determine the #1 Contenders for the Lucha Dragons
- Carmella vs. Emma
- Bull Dempsey vs. Justin Gabriel
- Baron Corbin vs. Tony Briggs
- Marcus Louis vs. Sylvester LeFort
- Sami Zayn vs. Titus O'Neill

NXT is always worth checking out.

Lucha royalty seeks WWE tryout, more on WWE's new policy, WWE PPV changing?, WWE name back from injury?, Orton takes a shot at Cena, WWE seeking trademarks, report from HIAC, and Questions on losing faith in talents, having the champ on every PPV, traditional Survivor Series matches, a Cruiserweight division, and seeing Punk wrestle again

Hijo del Santo was visiting with his son backstage at a recent NXT show, prompting speculation of seeking a tryout for his son. I'm sure WWE would love to tap further into the Latino market with Del Rio gone and Rey more or less out of commission.

WWE's updated stance on domestic abuse has been picked up by the Washington Post. I think that's a great policy for them to implement. Way to be proactive rather than reactive.

WWE could be rebranding the Elimination Chamber for 2015, possibly moving that match to the summer to build for a match at Summerslam. It's not a bad idea to change things up in that regard. The summer can be a downtime for WWE, but it doesn't have to be.

WWE Hell in a Cell preview

Read on for how I'd book tonight's WWE PPV.

Big WWE lawsuit, big name misses NXT signing, Interview with AJ, Questions on the WWE Magazine, Prinze, Jr., Cesaro, Ryder, and creative control

1980s WWF wrestler Billy Jack Haynes is filing a lawsuit against WWE regarding the health of wrestlers. This could potentially be huge, although I don't know how much traction it will actually gain.

Seth Rollins reportedly missed the signing he was advertised for at the NXT taping. After a long wait, the Lucha Dragons took his place. As great as those two are, I think a lot of people came to see Rollins at the signing instead. It sucks that happened. Rollins did appear at the actual NXT taping.

AJ Lee talked ahead of Hell in a Cell. Paige and AJ are pretty much the only Divas I'd care to see in a reality format. Most of the others I just want to see wrestle (and in the case of Eva Marie, I don't even want to see that).

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Saturday, October 25, 2014

Interviews with Ambrose/Rollins/Matt Hardy/Y2J/Zeus/Ziggler/Lashley, new role for Taker, and Questions on no-compete clauses, Mysterio, They Live, autobiographies, and Bischoff vs. Russo

Dean Ambrose talked to Rolling Stone. That's pretty big. He does work effectively as the face in this scenario.

Seth Rollins was also interviewed before Hell in a Cell. Pretty good read. He knows what he's talking about.

Matt Hardy talked about his post-WWE career. I'm glad he's making things work outside Vince's bubble. It will be interesting to see what 2015 holds for the Hardys.

Chris Jericho talked about an upcoming WWE DVD on him. As great as his matches with Benoit were, there's no way we'd see Benoit on a new WWE release.

Interviews with Cesaro/Cena/Chyna, big meeting for Jeff Jarrett, Mysterio update, Puerto Rican name to WWE?, GFW TV update, Impact audience, TNA announcer to GFW?, Del Rio situation update, matches set for next NXT special, and Questions on AJ vs. Paige, Rose's push, Foley books, and Hogan vs. Brody

Cesaro talked about his time so far in WWE and more. He's a very versatile talent. I hope WWE continues to add talents who have honed their craft in a number of different markets.

Jeff Jarrett recently met with ROH president Joe Koff. There's speculation the two parties discussed whether ROH talents can work the GFW-promoted NJPW show on January 4. I definitely think it'd be a solid boost for GFW and ROH if the two sides can work together. Wrestlers having more places to make a payday and more diverse opponents to work with is a good thing for the business.

John Cena talked about being a merch machine, not turning heel, and more. He has a really amazing work ethic that transcends what goes on in the "wrestling" aspect of the company.

Mysterio note, two names added to TNA roster, Interviews with Matt Hardy/Willie Mack/Maria/Y2J/Cesaro/Ambrose/Morrison, Dudleys-WWE tease, and Questions on Darren Young, Orton turning face, Raw vs. Smackdown, the Wyatts, and Summerslam

There has been talk in Mexico of Rey Mysterio having left WWE and returning to AAA. Mysterio and WWE have been having conflicts about the status of his contract. More on this in the days to come. At this point, it's pretty obvious Rey wants out of his deal. I think WWE just wants to continue making money from Rey merchandise, etc. while they still have the rights to his likeness. I'm curious as to what Rey can really do legally to get out of it and work elsewhere.

TNA has added Shark Boy and Tyrus to their website roster. I'm a little surprised to see Shark Boy added, since he's really just kind of brought in here and there for enhancement roles. It will be interesting to see what the roster looks like by the time of the UK tapings.

Matt Hardy talked about his current status with TNA and more. I think TNA has been putting out a lot of good content lately, but it could be too late as a lot of fans have written them off and assume they're going out of business.

Main Event Reax - 10/21/14, what Hogan did at Raw, date for airing of next TNA Title match, NXT preview, big NXT guest, Slam City to TV, Jake Roberts note, WWE Network-UK update, Interview with Stephanie/Y2J, Raw audience, NXT coach update, WWE tryouts, and Questions on WWE layoffs, Jeff Hardy back in WWE, WWE staleness, the Wyatts, and attention spans

Main Event:
I have no clue what I watched in that opening segment. It reminded me of early seasons of NXT. I hope it was effective in hyping the tag team title match, because it was pretty out there.

I really enjoy Tyson Kidd as a heel these days. This has been great. I liked this match, and hope it means more for Tyson in the future. If WWE really wanted to, they could have Darren Young return to defend Natalya and feud with Tyson.

I love Bo Dallas as a heel. I hope he rides this really far. Future U.S. or IC Champion?

I'm not sure if it really did anything for anyone to have Big E win. I like Big E, but if there's no followup for his win, it seems a bit pointless for him to beat someone with consistent screen and promo time.

Really good main event. Rollins and Swagger worked together very well, and those on the outside of the ring were incorporated well.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

HIAC card, Ox Baker passes, Interviews with Y2J/JR, ring announcing set, Hogan update, indie name at WWEPC, Smackdown audience, WWE policy update, and Questions on Luger, MITB vs. IC Title, WWF vs. WCW, how big of a deal Cena is, and paying wrestlers to take dives

The current card for Sunday's Hell in a Cell PPV:
- WWE Divas' Championship: AJ Lee vs. Paige
- WWE United States Championship: Sheamus vs. The Miz
- WWE Tag Team Championship: Goldust and Stardust vs. The Usos
- Big Show vs. Rusev
- Loser becomes winner's personal assistant for a month: Brie Bella vs. Nikki Bella
- Hell in a Cell: Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins
- Hell in a Cell to determine #1 Contendership for WWE Championship: John Cena vs. Randy Orton

Honestly, I think that's a pretty good card and well worth the $9.99 for the Network.

Notable wrestling name Douglas "Ox" Baker has passed away. His is a story that's often overlooked, which is a shame. He deserves a career retrospective and a HoF nod.

Update: WWE talked about his passing. Just look at that guy! He absolutely deserves more attention.

Here are results from an NXT live event this weekend. There are some talented names there, and I hope they break out in the years to come.

The Boogeyman was at WWE HQ, so I suspect we'll see him pop up in some form or another for Halloween.

Carmella has been officially added to the NXT section of the WWE roster page. I've liked her so far. The key will be making sure she doesn't feel tacked on to a successful act.

WWE ring announcer update, WWE live event notes, Interviews with Dallas/Rollins/Corbin/Y2J, and Questions on indies running similar cards, streaming iPPVs, international coverage, Raw guest hosts, and wrestling movies

Eden was ring announcer on the main roster this weekend. I'd definitely prefer her in that role to JoJo, although I think Eden was at one point training to wrestle. We'll see how that all turns out.

Damien Mizdow lost to Great Khali in quick fashion this weekend. I wouldn't read anything into it.

Adrian Neville defended the NXT Championship against Sami Zayn this weekend. Given the show was in Montreal, Zayn was incredibly over. He got to cut a promo in front of his hometown, which is pretty cool.

Update: Zayn posed with Ziggler and Ambrose after the main event, with his music playing. That's quite a big deal considering he's not part of the main roster yet. I hope he's brought up sooner rather than later, because he's ready to make an impact.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

TNA roster correction, study looks at why fans watch WWE, Interviews with Kane/Y2J/RVD/Simmons/Shields/Fandango, Justin Roberts' replacement, new NXT interviewer, Punk reappears, WWE tag team back on TV soon?, NXT surgery, Brock appearance set, talk of more NXT specials, and Questions on Maggle, upcoming episodes of Impact, Enzo/Big Cass, Charlotte, and Eugene

TNA has added Rockstar Spud back to their online roster. There was confusion over whether he was still under contract after the EC3 firing angle, but he apparently at least is for the time being. I think he can get a solid following as a face.

A study from the University of Kansas looked at why WWE fans watch. I definitely think some things need to be shaken up. New storylines and characters are part of what makes NXT so refreshing. Seeing a former WWE/WCW/ECW name go to TNA and do pretty much the same thing they did fifteen years ago is part of what has kept TNA stagnant, I think. Overall, I'm glad a formal study was done.

Kane talked about changing up his character, emerging talents, and more. How do these people find wrestlers' personal addresses? Anyway, it was a good read from someone who's been around the block in WWE. I'm really curious to see what he does in the years to come as both a character and a person.

WWE content goes viral, Interviews with Kane/Y2J/Darren Young, Cena press, JBL on Roberts' departure, WWE financials update, Impact audience, and Questions on Cena endorsements, time zones, Team 3D's future, ads on the Network, Show vs. Russia, and JBL

"RKO Vines" have gone viral, and WWE has noticed. Pretty clever. The RKO is a pretty wicked move.

Kane talked about working with Daniel Bryan, Taker vs. Sting, and more. Nothing too revealing, but it was cool to hear him discuss the longevity of his career. If WWE does do Taker vs. Sting, I'd appreciate cameos from Flair and Kane given the history those two have had with the combatants.

Chris Jericho talked about working with C.M. Punk, pitching stories to Vince McMahon, and more. There could be a book just on various experiences working with Vince. He's one of a kind, for better or worse. I do wish Jericho vs. Wyatt would have done more for Wyatt, but obviously Vince had other plans.

TNA roster note, Raw main event note, Interviews with Piper/Kim, Roberts on WWE release, huge honor for Stephanie, another Raw match set, and Questions on Rock's return, guest hosts, Brock Lesnar, Total Divas, and John Cena

In line with the current angle of him being fired by Ethan Carter III, TNA has removed Rockstar Spud from the roster on their website. He will reappear on upcoming episodes of Impact Wrestling. Of note, the TNA roster still contains Rhino despite him being fired in a similar fashion and not working for the company since his loss to EC3. Bully Ray, Devon, and Kurt Angle are featured despite their contracts expiring, so it's not like TNA's website is the best source for roster information.

Raw's main event of Cena and Ambrose vs. Kane, Rollins, and Orton has been made into a street fight. Should be good. I wonder if Kane will have a match at Hell in a Cell.

Roddy Piper talked about C.M. Punk walking out and more. While I understand Management wants to work with talents who are easier to deal with, there are reasons to support some of the people who rock the boat.

Main Event:
I loved the Miz TV segment, as goofy as it was. "Mizdow" has been consistently entertaining.

I liked Tyson's promo. He's been really underutilized for a while now.

Good match between Tyson and R-Truth. I wish more undercard matches had stories. That's one thing the Attitude Era did a better job of, I think.

Natalya splitting from Kidd could be nice if done right.

I liked Cesaro's promo well enough. I honestly think the swing is kind of a goofy move, but the crowd cheers for it and it is pretty impressive.

Cesaro vs. Gabriel was pretty good. I do hope Cesaro gets his momentum back, because he was positioned to really get a push after WM30.

I wasn't as crazy about that Lana/Rusev promo. I do want to see Rusev crush some people, though.

Nice match between Rusev and Big E. I hope both of them are successful in the company long-term.

Good ending to the show. Rusev still has momentum if they don't blow it.

NXT preview, NXT release, GFW-NJPW update, Interviews with Bischoff/Swagger/Martel, new head of WWE Network, Network adds ads, Summerslam 2015 location, big names at next week's Raw, Team 3D update, BFG notes, Smackdown audience, Raw guests, next Raw main event, Flair update, Alex Riley note, and Questions on long title matches on TV, Ambrose breaking out, WWE listening to fans, the 40-man Rumble, and (of course) John Cena

Set for this week's NXT:
- Sami Zayn vs. Tyson Kidd
- Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady vs. The Legionnaires
- The Lucha Dragons vs. Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy
- Carmella's in-ring debut
- Baron Corbin in action

Could be a pretty good show, especially that first match.

WWE has released the recently-signed Willie Mack. What? That's one of the shortest tenures of a wrestler in the big leagues ever. I hope he's OK.

Update: Mack issued a statement. Pretty vague. I was looking forward to seeing what he would do in NXT. Hopefully GFW or someone provides an outlet for him to show what he can do on a big scale.

Dixie Twitter controversy, big commentary error, what was cut from BFG, Bret and Hebner bury the hatchet, why Vickie wasn't on Smackdown, Maddox returns, HoFer's daughter wrestling, territory star passes, Network show returns, WWE Malaysia press, and Questions on firing JR, pushing Ambrose, "SuperCena", Angle vs. Rusev, and the WWE Universe

Dixie Carter made a reference to the typhoon heading to Japan in promoting Bound For Glory, specifically James Storm coming there. She since deleted the Tweet and apologized. There's being a heel, and there's exploiting a natural disaster to promote a wrestling event. That really was a boneheaded move on the part of the company president, and could really hurt the company's image at a time when things already look bad for them. I am glad she apologized, but the damage could already be done.

Taz referred to The Dynamite Kid as "late" on commentary for Bound For Glory. Dynamite Kid is actually still alive. I'm willing to give Taz the benefit of the doubt on that one, as Kid has really been out of the spotlight.

As was mentioned, TNA cut out part of Team 3D's post-match promo from Bound For Glory. The team challenged NJPW's Bullet Club. That would be quite the rivalry. Maybe we see it in Jeff Jarrett's GFW?

Interview with Kharma, live event notes, WWE vs. NFL, Angle update, NXT debut notes, Mysterio update, Y2J dates confirmed, top WWE name taking time off?, and Questions on Hall and Nash in WCW, Aksana, the finish to the 2005 Rumble, and TNA airing internationally

The former Kharma talked about potentially coming back to WWE and more. I'd LOVE to see her come back and wreck all the Total Divas-related stuff they have now. She could really be a top act in the company.

For the latest WWE live event in Malaysia, Adrian Neville retained the NXT Championship over Sami Zayn, Bo Dallas, and Sin Cara. Cara is one-half of the NXT Tag Team Champions, so that makes sense in a way. Also on the show, Sheamus was apparently fine after seeming to be injured the night before, and Kofi teamed with Big E as faces. No Xavier Woods, though. It's been so long since they've all three been on TV as a unit that it might as well have not happened.

WWE issued a survey on fans' viewing habits between WWE shows and football, notably if fans switch back-and-forth between the two, watch with others, record WWE for later in the week, etc.. The NFL has been a big competitor for WWE for years now.

Smackdown moving after all, NXT and main roster live event notes, former Women's Champ hospitalized, Interviews with Cena/JR, HoFer out of the hospital, TTTT update, and Questions on BFG, Ambrose, JR, and Punk

A press release for a show on Syfy mentions it will debut 9 p.m. on a Friday, during the current timeslot for Smackdown. So, either this is a typo or Smackdown will be moving nights. Thursday nights would be fine by me if they shift around NXT and Superstars (maybe to Fridays?).

Update: Smackdown will be moving nights in January 2015, once NFL games are no longer a competitor. I hope that means the brand will get more appreciation from those booking it.

Here's a report from a recent NXT live event. I'm glad everyone there's getting practice. I wonder why we haven't seen Balor or Steen yet at live events.

The former Madusa/Alundra Blayze was hospitalized after a monster truck incident in Australia. I hope she recovers well and one day enters the WWE Hall of Fame.

Punk-TNA rumorkiller, Interviews with HHH/Eddie Edwards/McIntyre/Bram/Itami/DiBiase,Jr./Steen/Rock/Bischoff, Y2J update, WWE press, TTTT note, Impact audience, and Questions on Rollins vs. Lesnar, Rock vs. Rusev, Hogan, Sable, and Sandow turning on Miz

For whatever reason, there are stories going around about TNA making a big financial offer to C.M. Punk, and him turning it down. Multiple TNA sources deny that being the case. Either way, there's a very small chance of him returning to the ring, and I highly doubt it'd be for TNA if he did. Punk was in attendance at a recent OVW show, but it was likely just because of his friendship with Cliff Compton.

Triple H talked about NXT vs. the main roster and more. The NXT facilities are amazing, and attitude is very important in ANY job.

It's possible Chris Jericho works a few upcoming TV tapings before going back on the road with Fozzy. There's not much reason for him to work a few weeks of TV before disappearing again, but a cameo during the European tour would be nice.

Interviews with Ricardo/Raven, Del Rio update, Rock's Smackdown appearance, a Wyatts movie?, Rey update, and Questions on Edge hosting a show on the Network, the Russian flag angle, an angry Taker, the "30-day rule", and revamping WWE's titles

The former Ricardo Rodriguez talked about leaving WWE in detail. WWE really lost some talented people in Ricardo and Del Rio. As for Ricardo training and working in NXT, there are a lot of hardworking people behind-the-scenes and/or in limited roles that make the whole machine of the company go smoothly.

Alberto Del Rio will be working a show for Wrestle-1 in November. This naturally leads to speculation of him working with TNA given the agreement that company has with W1. There's no word on that yet. I'm under the impression Del Rio can't work in the U.S. due to legal issues with WWE, and that might extend to appearing on U.S. TV for a wrestling company (even if the show's taped in Japan). I'd love to see him in TNA since WWE's not an option, but I don't see it happening.

The segment set for Smackdown featuring The Rock was taped backstage at Raw. You can't have the 15th Anniversary of Smackdown without him. He should have plugged that appearance Monday.

Main Event:
I love Bo right now. He's come a long way from the FCW days.

I really enjoyed the first match. Ziggler brings out the best in people athletically, and Bo is definitely growing as a performer. Good work by both men.

As much as I'd love to see Tyson snap and make Kane tap out, I don't think that's what this segment's leading to. That's a shame, because that segment did more for Kane than for Tyson or Swagger.

Fine Divas handicap match for what it was. The chances of Kharma coming out and wrecking all of them are sadly nil, but that would be my ideal end to the angle.

Wow, they're all about digging at Tyson. At least he's getting screen time as a character outside NXT and Total Divas, though.

Nice to see Tyson get a win. The match was good for the time it got. I hope we see more of Tyson on the main roster now.

Fun post-match. Tyson can be a great heel.

Another weird Goldust/Stardust segment, but that's to be expected.

I liked the main event well enough. This has been a pretty good feud.

New LU signing, LU guest, LU video, British Boot Camp note, Interviews with Rollins/Reigns, Questions on interviewers, streaming, WWE as sports or entertainment, wrestling vs. variety shows, and Kevin Dunn

Brian Cage, who's appeared for TNA and regularly works Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, has been signed to Lucha Underground. He's a HOSS. It will be cool to see how he works in that environment.

Danny Trejo was in attendance at a recent LU taping. That's pretty cool.

Here's a video on the LU series. That looks great! I can't wait to see what the former John Morrison has in the tank.

At least some episodes of TNA's British Boot Camp series have been expanded to one hour. That's good for TNA.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Live event notes (including an NXT show), Interview with Rose, and Questions on the Wyatts, Kim-TNA, and TNA TV

At this weekend's main roster live events, Sami Zayn beat Tyson Kidd. The Wyatt Family also teamed in a loss to Big Show and the Usos. Zayn's worked quite a few live events and dark matches, so I wouldn't assume he's coming to the main roster anytime soon. I think the Wyatts are still set to break up soon. Live events are more or less "non-canon" in that regard.

Update: Another live event had Rowan and Harper team in a loss to the Usos, while Bray Wyatt lost to Sheamus. I believe all three members of the Family will become singles names in the near future. I'm curious to see how that works out.

Update: Another live event featured Adrian Neville beating Tyler Breeze for the NXT Championship, as well as the team of Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston teaming as faces with Big E in their corner. I'm glad the NXT names are getting experience, and WWE keeps trying with that trio. I'm eager to see the NXT names and that group on the main roster.

WWE Network notes, Smackdown main event, Wyatts note, Interview with Matt Hardy, Dreamer update, Dinsmore on WWE exit, more WWE tryouts, former TNA name retires, and Questions on banning the DDT, quick title changes, and Raw guest hosts

WWE has issued a survey asking fans to rate current WWE Network shows, and is seeking ideas for new shows. Some of those sound pretty interesting. I'd like to see the fantasy matches show myself.

The advertised main event for the next Smackdown is John Cena and Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins and Kane. That's a little underwhelming for the 15th anniversary of the show. All those men are talented, but I wish they had something bigger set.

The Wyatt Family are still advertised as working as a group for some upcoming live events. The card is always subject to change, though, so they might not all end up working together then.

Smackdown Reax - 10/3/14

Read on for my thoughts on Friday's Smackdown.

EC3/Spud update, Smackdown Week, Interviews with Bo/Linda/DeMott/Cesaro, NXT trainer and another developmental name cut, new TNA TV deals, Impact audience, Raw guest hosts, and Questions on paying for music, Devitt's new name, Crimson, WWE making stars, and Total Divas

TNA is running an online angle where Ethan Carter III has demanded the removal of Rockstar Spud merchandise, with the goal being to get Spud fans to show their support of the latter. That's not a bad idea, honestly.

WWE Network is doing a week focused on Smackdown next week, in honor of the show's 15th anniversary. That's smart!

Bo Dallas talked about feuding with Jack Swagger and more. I'm surprised he's done this well based on his early developmental work. Can we have an nWbo?

Smackdown guest, Smackdown dark match, HIAC main events, Interviews with Rollins/Stephanie, former IC Champ back on TV?, Wyatts future, tour the Performance Center, more on Linda's charity, more on first GFW PPV, Questions on Adam Rose, PPV vs. TV, Kane, Ambrose, and the live TV experience

WWE Hall of Famer Bob Uecker was in attendance at Smackdown. He's pretty popular in the area.

Smackdown's dark match featured the Wyatt Family as a group, which got a nice reaction. I'm not really sure how much more they can accomplish as a trio, but I love the gimmick. My hope is Harper and Wyatt in particular have great futures.

The main event for Hell in a Cell looks to be the winner of John Cena vs. Dean Ambrose taking on Seth Rollins inside the Cell. I wonder where this leaves Orton and Kane, but I'm looking forward to that.

Seth Rollins talked about wrestling in front of his home town at a WWE live event. Him being a full-time wrestler while having a school is insane.

Main Event Reax - 9/30/14, WWE Network-UK correction, WWE reacts to Punk fans in Chicago, more NXT names in WWE 2K15, another BFG match, charity notes, JR update, Interviews with Neville/Zayn/Wyatt/Cesaro, Raw audience, Questions on putting people with Cena, Reigns compared to Ambrose, The Bellas feuding, Ryder's YouTube show, and Kane

Main Event:
Not a bad opening set of promos from Cesaro and Swagger. If Ziggler didn't just win the title back, I'd probably be OK with Cesaro holding the belt.

I liked the match between Cesaro and Swagger. Great action from two talented athletes.

I liked the Tyson angle OK. He has been doing great stuff in NXT.

Yes! Solid match with Tyson and Kofi. It looks like the alliance with Big E and Xavier will take a little longer to be back on-screen, but I enjoyed this match and hope we see more of Tyson.

I like the dynamic between Tyson and Natalya. He makes for a great jerk husband.

I'm hyped for Mark Henry's match. He's been made more human by these losses. This is what people want to see with Cena's booking.

I liked the action of the handicap match. Layla and Summer Rae make a nice team.

I see why WWE apologized, but it fit in with the story they were doing. Show was intending to disrespect Rusev, not the Russian WWE fans. They should probably make that clear in this angle.

Based Bo. I hope he does win tonight.

BAH GAWD BO DID IT! HE BEAT MARK HENRY AGAIN!! That was a pretty good story to tell of Dallas getting the win without hurting Henry. This could be a fun angle.

Mark Henry gives no quarter to anyone. I enjoyed him dishing out punishment to Dallas.

Query on Malik Omari, Interview with Angle, major Sting DVD error, Yesamania lives, NXT and Impact lineups, Stephanie on Punk, first GFW event announced, Smackdown audience, WWE Network in UK update, more matches for BFG, Smackdown match, Raw guest, what happened after Raw, and Questions on streaming PPVs, Rusev, Ambrose vs. Rollins, Fandango, and Raw's ratings

First up, a query:
1. Former NXT talent Malik Omari is back working in the UK for PWF.

Kurt Angle talked about his future, potentially retiring soon, and more. In order:
- It definitely sounds like he's done with TNA, but can't announce his future just yet. I can see him going to Jeff Jarrett's GFW.

- As for TNA's TV deal, they're expected to go to a new network for 2015. There are several networks they're having talks with.

- I can see WWE being reluctant to bring Angle back given his off-screen history. I don't know how shareholders would take it, for one, and there's concern of him being able to pass a physical.

- I loved Kurt Angle's WWE stuff, as a goofy character and a serious one.

- I'd like to see Angle vs. Swagger, Rusev, and Bryan, but I don't really expect them to happen.

Interviews with Kamala/Bobby Fulton, more live event notes, and Questions on Bryan vs. Jeff Hardy, the Wyatts, WWE names, Cena, and Big E/Kofi/Xavier

Kamala talked about working as a face in WWF and more. It's amazing to think of a time when Kamala was a top draw as a heel. Totally different era.

Bobby Fulton of The Fantastics talked about the state of wrestling today vs. the territory days. I think the good guy/bad guy dynamic still works in 2014, but the fans aren't just going to cheer someone just because they're pushed as a good guy. A lot of fans choose their own favorites and cheer for them regardless of which "side" the promotion says they're on. As for Vince, he adapted wrestling into sports entertainment and keeps drawing money from that concept. I don't see him leaving "his baby" in favor of doing another XFL or WBF kind of thing at this point. I can easily see him staying heavily involved with WWE until he's physically unable to do so.

WWE live event notes, new match set for BFG, Joe update, more TNA TV tapings coming?, assorted TNA updates, Sin Cara I back on U.S. TV?, WWE scouting, Kane appearance, origins of Devitt's new ring name, and Questions on WCW music, the Wyatts, and commentary

On this weekend's WWE live events, NXT Champion Adrian Neville beat Tyson Kidd. WWE is also continuing to experiment with the trio of Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods. I'm glad Neville's getting experience, and hope something comes of that group.

In less exciting live events news, Big Show beat Bray Wyatt clean with the KO Punch, and Great Khali beat Slater Gator in a handicap match. Both results sound miserable.

James Storm and The Great Sanada vs. Tajiri and The Great Muta is set for Bound For Glory. That will be pushed as the main event on the Japan side of things. I suppose it's only fitting for a major TNA show to focus on names from 10+ years ago. I'm curious to see how long the latter team can "go".

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

New announcer welcomed, Interviews with Edge/Wale/Eugene, Sheamus charity, Darren Young comeback video, first match set for BFG, and Questions on Molly Holly in the Hall, Brock not being a fighting champion, a Sting documentary, and Johnny Jeter

Renee Young welcomed the former Arda Ocal to WWE. I'm excited to them being together again.

Edge touched on wrestling in a recent interview. He's pretty content to be living life outside of wrestling, and I don't see that changing.

Sheamus granted a Make-A-Wish wish before a recent live event. That's great!

Darren Young put out a comeback video. That was pretty impressive! Working with Titus was the best thing to happen for him post-Nexus. I don't know how well he can do as a singles star, but I'm glad he's motivated.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Smackdown Reax - 9/26/14

Read on for my thoughts on last night's Smackdown.

Friday, September 26, 2014

Interviews with Robbie E/Sheamus/Cesaro, TNA close to TV deal?, Smackdown dark match, Steen-NXT update, note on recent NXT release, a public Taker appearance, Impact audience, Jake Roberts update, and Questions on Reigns, shooting tag matches, WWE remembering the past, and Rusev's future

Robbie E talked about the future of TNA and more. Viewership is in-line with earlier episodes of Impact, but not in line with the increase they sustained for the NYC tapings. As for TNA's tag team resurgence, Team 3D could be wrapping things up at BFG, and Richards is injured. So, the resurgence was rather short-lived. There were some hard-hitting matches coming out of the tag team title series, though, so that's something.

Sheamus talked about potentially facing Rusev and Brock Lesnar, and more. Sheamus vs. Brock would be pretty intense. I'd like to see it. I think Sheamus vs. Rusev is more likely, though.

TNA is expected to have a TV deal in place shortly, likely leaving Spike for another network. They're in talks with several networks, so it looks like they could indeed have a U.S. TV home in 2015. I'm somewhat pleasantly surprised at that news. They keep on existing in spite of all the things expected to finish them off. It'll be very interesting to see how a new TV deal changes things, and if their momentum finally turns around.

Set for Smackdown, BFG updates on Wolves/3D/Lashley, Mathews update, '50s/'60s wrestler passes, Reigns' replacement, where's Holly now?, Interview with Sheamus, Lesnar update, WWE hires new announcer, former tag champion leaving WWE?, Devitt gets WWE name, and Questions on Bryan, Spike-TNA, WWE's pre-shows, Vince's favorites, and Roman Reigns

Set for this week's Smackdown:
- Big Show vs. Rusev
- The Miz vs. Dean Ambrose
- Battle Royal to face Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship
- WWE Tag Team Championship: Stardust and Goldust vs. The Usos
- Layla and Summer Rae vs. Natalya and Rosa Mendes
- Dolph Ziggler vs. the battle royal winner for the Intercontinental Championship

That's not a bad lineup. It's missing a number of major WWE players, though.

The Wolves will not be a part of Bound For Glory due to Davey Richards' injuries. Team 3D, howver, will be in what could be their final TNA appearance. Devon will be appearing on pre-taped shows past that date, but his contract ends at BFG.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
