2013 predictions for the WWE and TNA rosters

Read on for my thoughts on what 2013 holds for the WWE and TNA rosters. Note that these are at best educated guesses and shouldn't be taken as gospel. Wrestling has all sorts of twists and turns in a given year.

Raw Live Event Reax - 12/30/12

I attended yesterday's live event in Raleigh. Read on for my thoughts on the show.

Why Noble worked live events, Updates on Sin Cara/Orton, Interview with McCool, and Questions on being a wrestling fan, TNA's booking, the Invasion, Hogan's robe and Ryback vs. Rock

Ted DiBiase suffered some sort of hand injury at the 12/26 live event in Chicago. That's why Jamie Noble filled in.

Sin Cara was at the most recent Raw taping, but wasn't used. Maybe on Smackdown?

Michelle McCool talked about Beth Phoenix. Interesting.

Randy Orton will be back in the ring alongside Sin Cara next weekend. Glad that they're back.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Sunday, December 30, 2012

Update on Flair, Interviews with Bully Ray/Sheamus, new WWE recruit profiled, more live event notes, and Questions on Dr. Andrews and Punk vs. Taker

Ric Flair "can't wait" to do more with WWE. I can't wait to see him again as I enjoyed his last appearance. I just really hope we don't end up with another scary situation like we got with Lawler.

Bully Ray talked before a TNA live event. It was definitely time for 3D to do something new. I've enjoyed both as singles competitors. They seem to have new life in their careers.

Recently signed developmental talent Alex "Zander" Jones was profiled. He sounds like a blue chipper.

Interview with McCool, Raw and Impact audience, producer works live event, injury updates, and Questions on call-ups and WCW

Michelle McCool talked about Sharmell.

Raw's audience was down to 3.14 million viewers for the 12/24 edition, a huge drop-off from last week and the lowest-rated Raw of the 3-hour era. Hopefully WWE re-examines their booking and tries to make people want to watch holiday episodes instead of doing such silly stuff.

Jamie Noble lost to Fandango on a recent Smackdown live event. He works as a producer/agent for WWE. I wouldn't mind him returning to the ring full-time. He's gifted as a character and as a wrestler.

Randy Orton and Sin Cara are expected back at the upcoming TV tapings. Thankfully neither is majorly hurt.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Smackdown Reax - 12/28/12

Read on for my thoughts on last night's Smackdown.

Friday, December 28, 2012

Interviews with McCool/Ion, another Rock date, live event notes, and Questions on Batista, Kaval, Booker, Sting, and Impact

Michelle McCool talked about Melina and getting in trouble for matches being "too good". I'm inclined to agree with Jericho's stance. If you want people to care about the Divas' division, they need to be able to have good matches. Fans are paying to see good action (in addition to good stories).

Here's a story on Zema Ion. Good for him to have a back-up plan.

The Rock is now being advertised for the 1/22 Smackdown taping. They're getting the most out of him going into the Rumble (as perhaps they should).

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Main Event Reax - 12/26/12, NAO update, Austin evaluates curent roster, and Questions on Naomi, the WWE App, Sin Cara, Show, and the champ coming out last

Main Event:
I love a good battle royal. It's cool that 20 men want a shot at the U.S. Title.

Oh boy. There's going to be a lot of complaining about that result. Khali's by no means a "5-star" match worker, but it made sense for the big guy to win and it could lead to a big moment for Cesaro beating the former World Heavyweight Champion (and possibly lifting him for the Neutralizer).

I liked the post-match. As long as next week we're talking about Cesaro beating Khali it's ok that we're talking about Khali winning this week.

Khali's not exactly a good talker. That was about the best they could have done with him in an interview setting.

Ok promo by 3MB. Not an act I see going too far.

Good little tag match. It didn't really accomplish much, but it was a fine match. And yes, I noticed the faces won. I don't really mind since the match itself had good work.

Wednesday, December 26, 2012

McCool talks Tara/Victoria and Layla, and Questions on Dreamer, Del Rio, the Hardy Boys and RVD

Michelle McCool talked about her experiences with the current Knockouts Champion and her former tag team partner. The Piggie James storyline was pretty controversial with fans.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I didn't see it as a jab at ECW, either. If anything, they were writing him off in case they don't use him again.

2. One theory is that with Sin Cara needing knee surgery and Rey being written off as well, they wanted a face for the Latino audience. It could also be that they just called up 4 main event heels in The Shield and Big E and want some face opponents for them. Either way, I think he's talented enough to pull off being a face.

Questions on Austin vs. Punk, ECW, Sting vs. Taker, and The Shield

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. That would be amazing. I'm in full support. I don't see it happening, but I like the idea.

Nothing to add to 2.

3. That does sound like revisionist history! There was definitely more to ECW than putting people through tables, etc. as was pointed out in their answer. There's no telling where wrestling would be without the influence of ECW.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Raw Reax - 12/24/12

Read on for my thoughts on last night's Raw.

Monday, December 24, 2012

Dreamer talks Raw, Interviews with Foley/McCool, Update on Edge, and Questions on WWE releases, Sting, and Punk

Tommy Dreamer talked about returning to Raw. It's kind of scary that WWE didn't know who they wanted to use until that late in the day.

Mick Foley talked about Tribute to the Troops.

Michelle McCool talked about Natalya, including the rumor that McCool taught her to wrestle the WWE way. Interesting read. It doesn't surprise me that Natalya is such a team player.

Sunday, December 23, 2012

Impact viewership, Interviews with Gertner/McCool/AJ/Miz, Update for Angle, Hogan wants a shot at TNA Title, and Questions on DiBiase, Punk, Kharma, Del Rey, and Knockouts

Impact had 1.27 million viewers on 12/20.

Joel Gertner was interviewed.

Michelle McCool talked about Kelly Kelly.

AJ Lee was interviewed ahead of a Raw live event. She has the right attitude, and I'm glad she's able to be herself.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Saturday, December 22, 2012

Questions on Rhodes, Hall, and Stone Cold

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
Nothing to add to 1.

2. I'm kind of split on whether it's a good idea for him to keep it, since it's kind of drawing attention away from him as a wrestler. Though Bryan got over with the goatface thing...

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Friday, December 21, 2012

Interviews with Morton/Sheamus, Sin Cara update, NXT moving?, R-Truth update, Orton update, more Rock dates, NAO update, and Questions on WWE/TNA reading the web, Sarah Del Rey, Knockouts, and Tyson Kidd

Ricky Morton was interviewed. It would definitely be interesting to see if today's stars could call it in the ring more, and to see if that would make things more successful.

Sheamus talked ahead of a live event. Good read. He handles himself well.

Sin Cara has undergone knee surgery. I wish him a speedy recovery and still hope for a match against Rey down the line.

WWE could be moving its developmental headquarters to Orlando to make better use of its partnership with Full Sail University.

Main Event and TTTT Reax - 12/19/12

Read on for my thoughts on yesterday's Main Event and Tribute to the Troops.

Tag champs meet boy with cancer, Raw cameos update, TTTT story, Sin Cara update, Gut Check in Philly, Interviews with Stone Cold/Foley, Taker update, Patterson at NXT, Smackdown viewership, Smackdown dark match, and Questions on Angle, Rock, TLC '11, and Linda-WWE

Daniel Bryan and Kane met a 7-year-old with cancer.

As of now, Ric Flair's appearance was a one-time deal. He hasn't signed a WWE contract, but is open to working with the company again.

The Boogeyman was just a surprise appearance.

There's interest in using Tommy Dreamer again. He's always good for a reaction from the die-hards.

Here's a story on Tribute to the Troops.

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

Interviews with Punk/Tyson/Jeff Hardy, Raw viewership, Smackdown dark match, and Questions on The Shield, the WWE Tag Team Titles, and 1/3/13

C.M. Punk was on the Nerdist podcast.

Mike Tyson talked WWE and more. I was fine with Mayweather vs. Show since it took brass knuckles to beat Show.

Jeff Hardy talked. Hopefully in 5 years we're talking about how Hardy elevated people like Taker elevated him.

Raw brought in 4.23 million viewers, the highest benchmark since August. Hopefully that's because TLC had them interested in new faces on the card.

Henry rumorkiller, TLC notes, Cena on Today, injury healed for former TNA Champion, EW at TLC, and a Question on gimmick names

Mark Henry has not been cleared to return to the ring yet, despite reports to the contrary. It's possible that he doesn't come back, which would be a shame as I was a big fan of his last run.

There was concern over the lack of reaction Ryback got at TLC. There were some good "Feed Me More" chants. I think he'll be ok. They shouldn't stop pushing him at any rate.

The Shield's work at TLC was praised by WWE management.

John Cena was on the Today Show. He handled himself well.

Query on Cruiserweights, new WWE signings, live TLC notes including dark match, and Questions on Cena, WWE being more edgy, and next year's Mania

First up, a query:
1. I guess WWE COULD turn Saturday Morning Slam into the long-rumored Cruiserweight show, though I think if they wanted to do that they would have debuted the show under that format. It's possible for down the line. The original idea was to save the show for the WWE Network, which is still in development.

WWE signed Davina Rose from Shimmer and Alexander Jones from KnokX Pro to developmental contracts. I couldn't find much on Jones, but Rose has a decent amount of experience. I wish both the best.

JTG defeated David Otunga in the TLC dark match. JTG's from Brooklyn, so maybe they just wanted to warm the crowd up and/or give him a win he hasn't had in forever.

DMC was in attendance at TLC.

Saturday Morning Slam Reax - 12/15/12, Orton update, new developmental territory for WWE?, Matt Hardy update, and Questions on Savage, tattoos, the Hall of Fame, and the Shield

Awesome display of power by Ryback. I wouldn't mind him doing more squashes like that.

TNA loses TV in Germany, Interview with McGuinness, Sheamus on Conan, Cena on Fallon, and a Question on booking The Shield

TNA is set to lose its TV clearance in Germany. That's never good news to hear. It's possible that they get clearance with another company in the area.

Nigel McGuinness (TNA's Desmond Wolfe) talked about blood and unprotected chair shots in wrestling among other things. They definitely need to be careful with intentional blood.

Sheamus appeared on Conan. Clip 1 Clip 2

John Cena appeared on Jimmy Fallon with his typical unfunny shtick.

Interviews with Kofi/Ryback, a look at Vince, new NXT trainer, King Mo update, TNA additions to OVW, interesting name wrestling in MSG, another name WWE might not be bringing back, and Questions on John Morrison, TNA live events, and Aces and Eights

Kofi Kingston talked TLC. He came across pretty well.

Ryback was also interviewed on what 2013 holds for him. Good read. I hope he is that motivated.

Grantland.com looked at the Vince McMahon character. Good read.

Billy Gunn is now a trainer in NXT. Could be a good choice.

Main Event:
Nice opening video on Ryback and The Shield.

Fun segment with Ricardo and a good video package following.

Ryback was very impressive in a longer match. Del Rio was on top of his game as always.

Good post-match promo by Ryback. His character doesn't need long, wordy promos to get his point across.

Kind of a silly tag team segment, but I can live with it.

Pretty good handicap match.

What happened after Raw, Smackdown viewership, former star at Raw, Raw viewership, MVP to WWE?, Henry update, Rock at PPV, and Questions on Tensai, JBL, the Bellas, and The Shield

After Raw went off the air, the babyfaces stood tall. Dolph Ziggler hit the ring once the other heels were run off, and ate big moves from all the faces. Of course. And they wonder where the new stars are.

Smackdown drew 2.55 million viewers, up slightly from last week.

Colt Cabana was backstage at Raw. Get those rumors started!

Raw's viewership was 3.76 million.

Angle injured, Interviews with Hart/Daniels, Radical at NXT, names interested in WWE return, and Questions on The Shield, the Carters buying WWE, Russo, music, and beatdowns

Kurt Angle suffered a groin tear at Final Resolution, but is expected to work through it. This guy's insane.

Here's a Q&A with Bret Hart. I like that he remembers his roots and gives back.

Perry Saturn was helping out at NXT.

Goldust and Shannon Moore are interested in returning to WWE. If they can still "go", I don't have a problem with either from an in-ring perspective.

Query on Homicide-WWE, Interview with Keneley, what happened after Final Resolution, and Questions on WWE developmental, Vince's suits, saving WWE, and the ECW brand

First up, a query:
1. No update on Homicide going to WWE. I don't know that there's interest from their part. If they did sign him, they'd almost certainly give him a new name.

TNA's new announcer Todd Keneley talked.

After Final Resolution went off the air, Aces and Eights stood tall. Jeff Hardy was stretchered out and Roode left under his own power.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I definitely think it benefits someone to have wrestling experience before coming to WWE. I think WWE's doing a better job of signing talents from other promotions under HHH's watch.

Saturday Morning Slam:
Sheamus vs. Titus was fine, I guess. I just kind of shudder a bit when a talent I think has potential loses clean.

Booker's segment was kind of silly.

Cena winning wasn't exactly a shock. Hopefully next week the show is back to featuring young talent who can use the exposure.

Here's another story on TTTT.

The 20th anniversary of Raw is set for 1/14/13. Pretty cool! There are preparations for it underway.

Here's a story about working on the indies.

Eric Young has re-signed with TNA. I would have been ok with them letting him go.

Shawn Michaels will be at the next NXT taping. Nice!

Main Event:
Nice serious promo from Kingston.

Not a bad promo from Cesaro but I don't know how high he'll make it in WWE with his accent coloring his promos.

Cesaro was damned impressive against Kofi. I hope both guys get the rub in the years to come.

Good tag match. Hopefully Cesaro rebounds from the loss in the weeks to come. A big win over Truth would be nice.

Good post-match promo.

Interviews with Kelly Kelly/HBK/Ryback/Mickie, Punk undergoes surgery, Cena sick, Raw audience, and Questions on fans being hard on WWE Creative, MVP, Twitter voting, Linda, and Lashley

Kelly Kelly talked about life after WWE.

Shawn Michaels did as well. I'm glad his second run lasted as long as it did.

Ryback talked to ESPN, the New York Post, and The Score. He's listening to the right people backstage to be a success.

Mickie James talked WWE, TNA, music and more.

Query on The Ascension, more on Riley/Cena, another TNA PPV dropped?, NXT talent on the road, backstage name returns, former Creative member talks, DeMott injuring talent?, Steamboat at NXT, Smackdown viewership, Interview with Foley, and Questions on Flair, Cena/AJ, Taker, and The Shield

First up, a query:
1. No word just yet on what WWE will do with The Ascension now that Kenneth Cameron's gone. They've revived the gimmick before, so it's not out of the question that they add someone (or someones?) to replace him. We'll get a better idea at the next NXT tapings in a few weeks.

For those wondering about the incident with Alex Riley, the story is that he didn't show "proper respect" to Cena, whatever that means. Now is not a time to let backstage politics interfere with a talent's ascension.

In addition to dropping Against All Odds, the plan is to drop TNA's September PPV as well to allow for a bigger build to Bound For Glory. Perhaps a good move. An interesting one at any rate.

NXT's Paige is on the road with the main roster this week.

AJ Lee profiles, change in NXT, Reks shoots, and Questions on the Hall of Fame and Ryback

AJ Lee was profiled here and here.

Byron Saxton is now a creative consultant for NXT.

The former Tyler Reks has made a number of remarks on Twitter:
John Cena told him to stop using the Burning Hammer as his finisher, asking who gave him permission to use it. Reks' theory is that this is because it looked better than the Attitude Adjustment.

He confirmed the story about Cena and Alex Riley, namely that Cena ribbed Riley and Riley went off so he's being held back now.

The idea of Awesome Truth to get fired, use social media, then come back was originally for Reks and Hawkins. They did something similar on NXT.

Titus O'Neil was the most reckless, stiff person he had worked with. Not really a surprise with as little experience as he has.

Superstars and Saturday Morning Slam Reax - 12/1/12, NXT talent working live events, International talent getting WWE tryout?, Fandango works live event, and Questions on Brad Maddox, Kelly Kelly, Punk's DVD, and Heyman vs. Vince

Superstars:
Santino is a much better wrestler than his gimmick would suggest. I was impressed. Otunga has grown as an in-ring talent.

I really hope Brodus can work longer matches. They had a chance to show that he could here and didn't pull the trigger. Fine squash but I want to see something longer from him.

Saturday Morning Slam:
DiBiase vs. Mahal was nice. WWE has all this young talent who can go, but continues to focus on the same core group of people.

Good tag action as well. I wish WWE promoted Superstars and SMS better.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

NXT talent released, TNA cuts back on PPVs, TNA backstage sentiment, note on Morgan, Impact viewership, and Questions on WWE/TNA angles, Stevie Richards, the Freebirds, and TNA growing

NXT's Kenneth Cameron, of the Ascension, was released following an arrest. He had previously been arrested in 2011.  That's really a shame as the Ascension had a unique look and gimmick. Here's hoping the idea isn't totally scrapped.

With Lockdown being moved to March, TNA Against All Odds has been scratched from the calendar. There could be more dates scratched as well. This could be a good thing. Given how most PPVs end up with matches thrown on them at the last minute, this would mean that at least some shows will have proper build.

The backstage mood in TNA is more positive than it has been in a while, due to Creative having more long-term plans in place. That's good. They have done a better job at that lately.

Interview with Daniels/Palumbo/Sarita/Kharma, A look at the Summer of Punk, update on next week's Raw, Knockout returning, Ion profiled, Rogers passes away, NXT expanding, less TNA PPVs?, NXT guests, and Questions on face vs. heel and King Kong Bundy

Daniels was interviewed. I loved the Curry Man gimmick. I think his rivalry with Styles continuing says something about TNA's lack of fresh ideas and rivalries.

Here's a presentation on the Summer of Punk (2011).

Chuck Palumbo was interviewed. I wish WWE did more with him.

Main Event Reax - 11/28/12, Raw audience, Interviews with TTTT performers/Jericho/Rhodes/Punk/Matt Hardy, Raw Active voting, praise for Ambrose, and Questions on Beer Money, Ryback, Hogans, and Maddox

Main Event:
Sandow showed he mostly belonged with Cena. More experience definitely wouldn't hurt, though. I hate that he immediately tapped to Cena. I would have liked something that didn't hurt his standing as much.

I was fine with Sandow's post-match "interview". It will take more than that to make up for him tapping out, though.

Cesaro vs. Ryder was good. Cesaro's got what it takes to make it in WWE.

Fine promo by Cesaro.

Identity of Raw security, Impact and Smackdown viewership, Rock set for Raws, post-Smackdown dark match, Foley excited for Shield member, and Questions on Punk/Lawler, Jarrett, and taping Impact

The security crew on Raw who faced Ryback included local wrestlers Byron Wilcott, Luke Hawx, and Matt Lancy.

The Thanksgiving Impact did 1.19 million viewers.

The 11/23 Smackdown did 2.58 million viewers.

WWE to tour Australia, Lockdown on the road, and Questions on Punk being upset, the HoF, Taker vs. Lesnar, Rock vs. Punk, and Cena

WWE will tour Australia in July.

TNA Lockdown will be held outside of the Impact Zone. That's always good.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:

Query on Steiner-Aces and Eights, Interviews with R-Truth/Sandow/Ziggler/Godfather, and Questions on TNA stars in WWE, Taker at Mania, and Punk vs. Rock

First up, a query:
1. I definitely do NOT see Scott Steiner being part of Aces and Eights. He's currently in a lawsuit with TNA after taking a lot of shots at Hogan, Bischoff, and head of creative Bruce Pritchard. To say that there's bad blood there is an understatement.

R-Truth was interviewed.

So was Damien Sandow. I agree that he's a future World Champion if he and WWE play their cards right.

Saturday Morning Slam Reax - 11/24/12 and Questions on bashing Hogan, changing WWE, Hogan/Bischoff in TNA, Mania 30, and Sting vs. The Funker

Saturday Morning Slam:
Gabriel vs. El Local wasn't bad at all. I think once Gabriel gets some experience and the top of the card clears up a bit, he could make some strides.

Nice little tag match. 3MB are starting to really make their mark.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. It's no secret that they're anti-Hogan there. They have the right to throw in their opinion. I'd be hard-pressed to put up an argument that Hogan wasn't one-dimensional, but I don't think it's really a "fact".

Main Event:
Pretty good segment between Ziggler and Miz, but if both guys are failures, what does a win mean? All they did was beat a fellow failure. And whoever loses just lost to a failure.

Damned solid match as always. I hope the future is bright for both men.

Good post-match promo.

TNA tryout match?, Cena update, TLC match spoilers, Punk not promoted, Raw audience, and Questions on Punk/Lawler, Kane, Riley, and Clay

At a recent TNA live event, Chase Owens defeated Jason Kincaid in what could be a tryout match for the promotion. Owens is a part of NWA Smoky Mountain, and wrestled as Kevin Bendl in a match against Ryback in May. Jason Kincaid has worked a variety of indies.

John Cena was legitimately injured at Raw. He underwent an MRI and is expected to continue working. Tough guy.

Survivor Series backstage notes, NXT house show note, Smackdown viewership, Interview with Ion, advertised TLC matches, and Questions on AJ Styles, Crimson, and Jeff Hardy

JTG and Jack Swagger were backstage at Survivor Series.

Rollins, Ambrose, and Reigns were flown in separately from the rest of the roster to avoid leaks. Smart!

The NXT house show scheduled for November 28 has been moved to February 13.

The latest Smackdown pulled in 2.8 million viewers. Not bad at all.

Superstars Reax - 11/18/12 and Questions on Lesnar vs. Ryback, Kane's hair, Punk's shoot, building new stars, and Miz on Team Foley

Superstars finally got posted this week:
Nothing wrong with the opening tag.

Khali vs. JTG was what it was. Not a rematch I look forward to seeing.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I know a lot of people wanted that! I wouldn't have minded it, either.

SMS note, Saturday Morning Slam Reax - 11/17/12, Rhodes update, AJ-Vickie update, NXT releases, and Questions on Michael Hayes, Hogan, Ambrose, an international WWE show, and Jeff Jarrett

I should first note that I missed the 11/3 episode of Saturday Morning Slam! Here's a quick recap: I liked El Local vs. Sin Cara, but didn't like the silliness of Rhodes vs. Clay. Local is Ricardo Rodriguez, and he has been working live events as that character.

Saturday Morning Slam (11/17):
R-Truth vs. Regal was kind of a waste of time. Nothing was really accomplished.

Kofi vs. Ryder was good! It got silly in places, but overall they brought some good wrestling.

Cody Rhodes has a separated shoulder and some torn muscles, but won't require surgery. He could work Survivor Series after all. I hope he doesn't get further injured.

Saturday, November 17, 2012

Interviews with Angle/Austin/Kofi, Survivor Series match changed, Edge Q&A, Impact viewership, and Questions on releases, heart attacks, new stars, Anderson, and TNA vs. WWE

Kurt Angle talked about British wrestling and more. I hope TNA picks up some good talent over there, and that they do have some long-term plan for Magnus.

3MB (Slater and Mahal) will now face Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd on tomorrow's pre-show. What does that say about how much they change their minds? Theoretically this means Marella and Ryder could be added to the main card.

Cody Rhodes has undergone an MRI on his shoulder and several concussion tests. The company is adamant that he doesn't compete until he's cleared. Smart. I think he's got a good deal of potential. Tensai will likely replace him tomorrow.

Mick Foley talked about his newest book and more.

Query on Mercury-TNA, Superstars change, Interviews with Richards/Austin, Rhodes injury, potential new Survivor Series match, McIntyre update, new faces on TV soon?, possible upcoming WWE signing, NXT releases, and a Question on JR

First up, a query:
1. I don't see Joey Mercury popping up in TNA any time soon. He's a trainer in NXT.

It seems that WWE has moved Superstars from Thursday to Friday. It will now be paired with Smackdown.

Stevie Richards talked about WWE, TNA, and Extreme Rising.

Cody Rhodes was indeed injured during the taping for WWE Main Event and might miss Survivor Series. Tensai is on tap to replace him, which is a good choice.

Main Event Reax - 11/14/12, new faces in NXT, and Questions on Cena and Creative

Main Event:
I liked the pre-match segment to set up the tag team match.

Awesome tag match. I hope Bryan, Sandow, and Rhodes are the future of WWE and that Kane still has gas in the tank for a while to come.

Fine post-match.

I liked the smack talk between Ziggler and Miz. Two guys who exemplify what a wrestler is in 2012.

So-so match between Otunga and Santino. It felt like something that was just there to warm the crowd up or the rest of the taping.

Query on Shane McMahon, Interviews with Lawler/Austin/Del Rio/Ricardo, Raw rating, Survivor Series pre-show match, and Questions on AJs, Cena, 3MB, Vince, and the nWo

First up, a query:
1. I don't see Shane McMahon buying TNA/Impact Wrestling. I think if he wanted to do something like that he would have done it by now.

Jerry Lawler was interviewed ahead of Raw.

WWE will return to Russia. Cool!

Here are some highlights from a Stone Cold interview. Austin vs. Cena just isn't the same as Austin vs. Punk, which NEEDS to happen.

Jeff Hardy-TNA update, and Questions on starting a wrestling promotion, Vince/Linda, Cena going heel, and WWE buying THQ

Jeff Hardy is close to signing a new deal with TNA, but nothing's in stone yet.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I like this question! If money's not an issue at all, I honestly might try to sign someone for a one-shot if I couldn't get a full deal (Goldberg, Batista). Other than that, I'd consult experts who follow the indies with who I should sign and use. I always liked Helms' (joking?) idea of "Future Endeavored Wrestling" made entirely of former national talent, but a lot of the people I'd want would already be picked up by TNA or ROH. I might start off in a loyal wrestling area before going on the road each week.

2. Just think of all they could have done for WWE with that money! I do wonder what he was thinking then. It had to be a pretty tough time. He's so used to getting his way!

Questions on TNA live events, new stars, Creative, and Vince Russo

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Maybe they figure they can draw in some local fans unfamiliar with TNA? It is pretty weird.

Nothing to add to 2.

3. Clearly Fandango will be a huge draw and they're better off waiting on Ohno. I like Johnny Curtis and all, but I'm scratching my head there. Supposedly there's TONS of talent in NXT that isn't being brought up because WWE doesn't have long-term plans for them.

Queries on NXT and Shane McMahon, Saturday Morning Slam Reax - 11/10/12, Interviews with Matt Hardy/Tugboat, and a Question on documentaries,

First up, some queries:
1. NXT still exists. It airs on Hulu Plus in the States and could be coming back to TV soon. It still airs internationally. Some say that the current season of NXT is the best yet and is better than Raw or Smackdown!

2. There hasn't been anything about Shane McMahon coming back to WWE in a LONG time. Never say never, but it's not in the cards for anytime soon.

Saturday Morning Slam:
The tag match wasn't bad when they stayed away from the goofy stuff.

Khali vs. Primo was pretty bad. The focus on young kids is killing the wrestling on this show.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Superstars Reax - 11/9/12, Interviews with Foley/JBL, Impact viewership, and an NXT rechristening

Superstars:
Fine opening match, but what does it say for 3MB's momentum?

Justin Gabriel beat Tensai! Awesome. Tensai is pretty solid between the ropes and I wouldn't mind him getting the big guy push again. Gabriel continues to impress and I hope as he gets experience he'll make it further.

Main Event:
Sheamus vs. Barrett was pretty solid. Both guys have benefited greatly from their experience. I enjoyed the pre- and post-match as well.

Truth vs. Slater was fine.

Alex Wright talked about a number of WCW topics.

Raw viewership, Edge update, and Questions on Punk, 3MB, Survivor Series, Joseph Park, and elevating talent

Raw's viewership this week was 4.08 million. Not terrible, but I'm sure they hope for more.

Edge's upcoming surgery will not make it possible for him to return to the ring. That ship has sailed.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. They make a good point there.

2. I kind of see it as WWE taking people who weren't doing anything and giving them something that might get them over. But you're right, they had something with Ryder that they blew.

For my take on Saturday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. It's certainly a cool idea, but I don't know if we'll ever see it. For now, it looks like they might be looking to Sin Cara to "replace" Rey when he retires.

2. I like some elimination matches here and there. I don't feel that they need a whole night of them.

PAC made his debut in NXT this week under the name Ben Sacilly. He's gotten some good hype so I hope he impresses.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I'd have to go with Heyman as well. A lot of people who went on to success in WWE got their starts elsewhere, some even in ECW, and Vince just snatched them up once someone else had shown what they could do.

Nothing to add to 2.

Interviews with Jericho/DDP, and Questions on Lashley, Mania dream matches, Punk vs. Lesnar, and Cena

Chris Jericho talked about Ryback vs. C.M. Punk. His ideas are certainly revolutionary! I think Punk's reign does have meaning and can be continued. They do need to be very careful with the ending, since they can't do a DQ. I'll give my idea for the ending this weekend. I don't think it's perfect, but it might be the best they can do.

1. They have their work cut out for them in protecting both Punk and Ryback. I think it's doable, but don't know if they can do it.

2. I'm a little surprised to see praise for Dunn, since he's connected with the "we make movies" aspect of WWE.

Mike Graham passed away at 61.

Eric Bischoff talked about TNA topics. Very good read!

For my take on the 10/15 PWInsider.com questions:

Queries on Homicide and the Hardys, Interviews with Tara/Storm, and Questions on AJ, Hogan, MITB, BFG, and Punk

I haven't done queries in a while, so let's see what's in the inbox:
1. Homicide is not a part of WWE at this time. If he did go there, WWE would give him a different name.

2. There's talk that Jeff Hardy could go back to WWE when his TNA contract's up in early 2013. There haven't been any rumblings of Matt going back there that I know of. He's still trying to get his life back together.

Interviews with Aries/Daniels/Sting, 10/11 Impact rating, and Questions on Punk, TNA vs. WWE, and pushes

Austin Aries talked ahead of Bound For Glory. There are important notes there about how TNA operates. Hardy might not even be in TNA at this time next year, but the company's supporting him more than a guy busting his ass to make it up the ranks.

Christopher Daniels talked as well. Some funny moments there.

Sting concludes the 10/12 interviews promoting Bound For Glory. Good read. I hope there is a Sting book, and he hope he helps elevate the younger guys. He's right about Jeff Jarrett deserving the Hall of Fame induction.

The 10/11 Impact got a 0.86 rating against the Vice Presidential debate. This was a show with Hogan, Sting, and Jeff Hardy in major roles.

The Rock briefly discussed wrestling.

Hulk Hogan also talked wrestling. Of course he puts himself over and unintentionally (?) buries the champion by saying the challenger is so much more over.

For my take on the 10/11 PWInsider.com questions:
1. One team does big picture storylines for TV and PPV and the live event team just kind of fills in the dots for each local market, working off of what the other team did.

Good promo by Show.

And a fine promo by Orton as well.

Pretty solid "WWE-style" main event between Orton and Show. Both have earned their spots.

Fine Sheamus promo. I like him better when he's serious.

Here's video of the C.M. Punk fan altercation. I'm thinking Punk was tired of being shoved by fans and took it out on the last fan who hit him. I imagine he'll get some sort of fine or something.

Speaking of fan altercations, someone complained to TMZ about the common heel act of ripping up a fan's sign at a live event. It's a TV show, people.

Paul Heyman talked about WWE '13 and more. Always a pleasure to read him.

Jeff Hardy talked ahead of Bound For Glory.

Hornswoggle underwent surgery to have his gallbladder removed. There's no timetable for his return.

For my take on the 10/7 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I suspect we'll see them defended there from time to time, but I doubt there'll be an initiative to make them more important.

2. I do wonder why some people watch WWE as much as they crap on it. I watch TNA because I cover it and want it to be better. I imagine the latter reason is why others keep watching shows they dislike.

Saturday Morning Slam:
This show is freakin' terrible. The match outside of the comedy bits was pretty grand, but the shenanigans lessened how good it was.

A former writer for WWE Magazine was interviewed. Interesting read.

Dean Ambrose worked losing efforts against Santino Marella on the weekend of 10/5. He's got a lot of hype to live up to.

Jeff Hardy was on Between The Ropes. This is more than his second chance.

The 10/4 Impact did a 0.84. Not good.

For my take on the 10/5 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I expect we'll see HHH at Mania. He can't stay out of the spotlight forever.

2. I loved it! It was something PPV-quality on free TV. I suspect it will end up another Superstars/SMS at some point, but it's good to watch while it lasts.

Main Event Reax- 10/3/12/Interviews with King Mo/Jeff Hardy/Nash, and Questions on an announcers' DVD, Adamle, Lawler, Feinstein, and a gay storyline

Main Event:
Good set-up for Punk's match.

And a good response by Sheamus.

Pretty awesome match-up, but I expected nothing less from a Mania-worthy encounter.

Good interviews with Punk and Show.

Not a bad tag match.

Everything else from 10/3 is after the break!

Top TNA star's contract ending soon, 10/1 Raw rating, and Questions on Night of Champions, house shows, WWE storage, and Aces and Eights

Jeff Hardy's TNA contract is coming up in early 2013. There's no guarantee that he'll re-sign. It's hard to think of a wrestling world without Jeff Hardy.

The 10/1 Raw drew a 2.54 rating. M'aidez! I hope USA's happy with the decision to go to 3 hours because it isn't working out well.

For my take on the 10/2 PWInsider.com questions:
1. Maybe he thought the referee was counting Punk down and not him? And yes, they should wait for the ref to signal the winner before playing the music and announcing it.

2. I suppose they could buy ad time with local TV stations during their own show. They're right, though, about it taking care of itself when business is hot.

Everything else from 10/2 is after the break!

Questions on Hogan, WWE Main Event, Kelly Kelly, Joe, and Del Rey

For my take on the 9/30 PWInsider.com questions:
1. Anything regarding Hogan makes me cringe these days. He should not be a focal point of a show in 2012 unless he's drawing enough ratings and interest to justify his paycheck.

2. It's all about the money for WWE. People are already being stretched thin and now they have to make even more programming.

Everything else from 9/30 is after the break.

Saturday Morning Slam Reax-9/29/12/9/27 Impact rating, WWE tryout, Questions on Ryback, ICP, the indies, and Lesnar vs. Rock

Saturday Morning Slam:
This show is just bad TV. That match was painful to watch. I hope this isn't the direction WWE's headed.

The 9/27 Impact got a 0.99. Not big numbers for a show with a lot of Hogan and Sting. Maybe it's time to put them out to pasture.

WWE recently held a tryout camp at NXT. More on this as it comes out.

For my take on the 9/29 PWInsider.com questions:
1. Too much, too soon. Yet they'll be surprised if he doesn't pull out a main-event worthy match.

Everything else from 9/29 is after the break.

NXT Diva resigns, NXT profiled, Kelly Kelly released, and Questions on the Hall of Fame and AXXESS

Raquel Diaz, the daughter of Eddie and Vickie Guerrero, has asked for and received her release from NXT. That's a shame, as I'd heard good things about her work.

The Miami Herald profiled WWE NXT. Sounds like an awesome opportunity.

WWE has officially released Kelly Kelly. I know she wasn't particularly known for her ring skills, but I think she got over pretty well. I imagine she wants to move on to something else.

Insight on John Cena's surgery, WWE picks up indie names, Interview with Homicide, Questions on Bully Ray, Ziggler, Bischoff, and count-outs

Former WWE writer Court Bauer discussed John Cena's surgery.

WWE has officially signed indie stars PAC and Sara Del Rey. I've heard good things about both, so I hope they bring a lot to the table.

Homicide talked about TNA, ROH, and more.

For my take on the 9/26 PWInsider.com questions:
1. He's pretty close to the top as it is. I wouldn't mind a title reign, but think it might be better for them to build up the next generation.

Everything else from 9/26 is after the break!

9/21 Smackdown rating, 9/24 Raw rating, 9/25 dark match, and Questions on Lawler, a new WWE Title, and Rock vs. Austin

The 9/21 Smackdown got a 1.95 rating.

The 9/24 Raw got a 2.72 rating. OUCH.

The dark match of the 9/25 Smackdown taping saw Johnny Curtis defeat Michael McGillicutty.

For my take on the 9/25 PWInsider.com questions:
1. They did the best they could with a difficult situation. As a fan, I'm glad they continued the show. I can understand why they would be hesitant to do so, though.

Everything else from 9/25 is after the break!

Big piece on Lawler, Interview with Punk, and Questions on Daniels, PG WWE, Punk vs. Austin, and Chyna

The Miami Herald had a big piece on Jerry Lawler's heart attack with comments from WWE, TNA, and indie sources: Part 1 Part 2 Very good read.

C.M. Punk talked about his current run. This man gets wrestling.

For my take on the 9/24 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I've always found him overrated. I think TNA can and will do better.

2. What they said, plus Linda McMahon's political campaigns. Her opponents love to bring up the kind of thing WWE has done in the past. They don't see it as good TV.

Interview with Blanchard, WWE strikes talent exchange deal, Questions on Mickie, part-timers, and women's wrestling

Tully Blanchard talked about the Horsemen, heat with JBL, and more.

WWE has struck a talent exchange deal with All-Japan Pro Wrestling. That opens some pretty cool doors. I hope they find some talented stars there.

For my take on the 9/20 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I'm not complaining that they're going in the direction they're going. Mickie was getting stale.

2. There's also the argument that they'll get a lot of attention from the big mainstream names winning the gold. It's something to think about.

Everything else from 9/20 is after the break!

Cena has surgery, 9/17 Raw rating, Questions on kayfabe, Rick Rude, anger management, and the Wellness policy

John Cena underwent elbow surgery in September. He's expected back for Hell in a Cell. The next few Raws should be interesting!

The 9/17 Raw got a 2.87 rating.

For my take on the 9/18 PWInsider.com questions:
1.Oh, the good old days of kayfabe. They were great in that way. It's kind of a shame that things have changed with everyone knowing the secrets.

Everything else from 9/18 is after the break.

Cena injury, JBL update, Interview with Punk, Orton apologizes, TNA live updates, 9/17 dark match, and Questions on a new Cena, the WWE Network, Bret Hart, and long title reigns

JBL is not expected to return full-time to commentary. He is merely filling in for Jerry Lawler.

C.M. Punk talked about working with The Rock and more. I still hope he becomes THE guy in the business.

Randy Orton apologized for flipping the bird and cursing at Night of Champions. All the more reason to push new stars.

Sheamus talked on Busted Open. He handled himself well. I'm glad he's paying respect to Malenko.

For my take on the 9/16 PWInsider.com questions:
1. Wow. Yeah, not sure how that made it past the WWE radar. I see why they edit things to fit the company's vision for 2012, but I'm generally not in favor of that kind of censorship. As a business decision, they don't want to be associated with anything like that!

2. That's going to be INSANE. I think they should take that into account for both fans and performers if they want a good gate. I don't see it hurting attendance too much, though. It's WrestleMania!

Bobby Roode also talked about TNA topics.

For my take on the 9/13 PWInsider.com questions:
Nothing to add to 1.

Update

Here's why I haven't posted in a while: this semester I moved into a residential college from a community college and it's been something of a rough transition. Basically I don't think it's the college for me and am strongly thinking of transferring at the end of the semester. So, all my free time is being used to research colleges to go to next semester. Even if I end up staying, it will help me determine where I want to go to once I get my Associate's degree. I have a LOT of schooling left from the sound of things and I want to spend my time at a college that's a good fit for me. I am researching this as heavily as I'd study wrestling. I will be back once things settle down! Sorry for not updating sooner!

Lawler updates, Goldberg rumorkiller, Interview with Barrett, and Questions on indie guys, Morgan, and WWE Main Event

Jerry Lawler is believed to have undergone cardiac arrest at Raw. It took 15 minutes to revive him then. He's recovering now after an angioplasty. There is (very thankfully) no brain damage.

Despite rumors to the contrary, Goldberg has not signed a WWE Legends contract.

Wade Barrett was interviewed.

Note on Lawler, Questions on the Steiners, Aces and 8s, "ruined" wrestling, new blood, and GMs

Everything about Jerry Lawler's heart attack on Raw was legitimate, WWE confirmed to TMZ. More on him in future posts.

For my take on the 9/10 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I hear their names thrown around at times. It might be a while before WWE puts them in the Hall. Can you trust them with a live mic?

2. TNA's trying to misdirect people a bit by having different people in the roles so online fans don't know who it's going to be. They could be kind of auditioning people in the roles, too. The names I've seen attached  have been good, so things MIGHT turn out well for it.

After the break, I go into everything else from 9/10.

Roman Reigns, the former Leakee, defeated Heath Slater over the weekend of 9/8 on Smackdown live events.

Here's another post-WWE Tyler Reks interview.

Kane talked in India.

For my take on the 9/9 PWInsider.com questions:
1. They pretty much nailed it. He doesn't need to be anywhere close to the title. Ditto for Brock, HHH, and Undertaker. He's already the main event guy, and it'd be better if they used the title to elevate people into becoming bigger stars.

Everything else from 9/9 is after the break!

Chris Jericho talked about what would need to happen for a TNA return.

Another WWE tryout, Interview with Goldberg, Knockout leaves TNA, and QUestions on Aces and Eights, HHH vs. Lesnar, and muting

WWE is holding a tryout in the UK. Cool.

Goldberg talked about the streak and potential WWE opponents. I don't expect him to return to the ring unless there's a huge payday attached. I don't know how much name value he has in 2012.

Winter didn't renew her contract with TNA. I always liked her. The Knockouts division definitely isn't what it used to be.

David Otunga talked in Chicago.

Saturday Morning Slam Reax - 9/1/12/Interview with Del Rio, USA Guy, Questions on Little Jimmy, Hurricane Isaac, and contracts

Alberto Del Rio was interviewed.

Derrick Bateman is pushing a new character "The USA Guy" on YouTube.

For my take on the 9/1 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I lol'd. Well done.

Everything else from 9/1 is after the break.

Interview with Jericho, Devon leaves TNA, and Questions on the Diva who quit after her debut, Team 3D, Impact ratings, WWE-NASCAR, and Cena

Here are highlights from a recent Chris Jericho interview. Very insightful from one of the smartest men in wrestling.

Devon's TNA contract has expired. He was the reigning TV Champion. They really blew it on his whole situation. They might as well drop the TV Title now. This is why you keep an eye on your talents' contracts!

For my take on the 8/31 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I seem to remember there also being an issue about being separated from her boyfriend (husband?) who was also to be wrestling. It was something. I can't think of any other time where someone's quit right after debuting.

2. I'm a little surprised that Ray stayed with Devon leaving, but he was being used better so it makes sense.

What happened after 8/27 Raw, Foley rumorkiller, Interviews with JBL/Reks, celebrity cameos?, and Questions on Santino, Ziggler, Angle, AW, and Lesnar vs. Tyson

John Cena defeated Big Show after the 8/27 Raw.

There was a rumor going around that there was heat between Triple H and Mick Foley. Not true. Foley is on very good terms with WWE, and some of the credit for that goes to HHH.

JBL talked about his WWE status and more.

The former Tyler Reks talked about his time in WWE.

Flair update, Tough Enough returning?, Interviews with Hart/Booker, Raw cameo identified, Questions on WWE's pettiness, Taker/Lesnar, commentary, and PG WWE

Ric Flair's TNA no-compete clause will soon be up if it isn't already. There've been online suggestions for him to manage Ziggler. That'd be kind of cool.

There are ramblings of another season of Tough Enough. That might be a good idea for the WWE Network.

Raw Reax - 8/27/12

Read on for my thoughts on the 8/27 Raw.

new TNA analyst from Howard Stern, NXT star on live events, Naomi wrestles, and Questions on Big Zeke, Roode, Brisco, Lesnar, and McIntyre

Eric the Actor, a.k.a. Eric the Midget (their words, not mine!) is joining TNA as a PPV analyst. I thought TNA was making good decisions now.

Big E Langston worked live events on 8/25-8/26, beating Jack Swagger. They either have high hopes for him or Jack Swagger has seriously fallen from World Champion level.

Naomi replaced Kaitlyn at a Smackdown live event, getting the win over Natalya. She's a trained wrestler (and the early favorite on NXT Season 3), but you wouldn't know it from how she's presented on TV.

After the break, I go into PWInsider.com's questions from 8/26.

Saturday Morning Slam Reax - 8/25/12/Interview with Mysterio, Z! TLIS #81, Barrett returns, Rock vs. Cena injury, Questions on a wrestling movie by WWE, and Knockouts

Kofi vs. Slater from SMS was so-so. If the style of that show is an indication of the future of WWE, I'm worried.

Rey Mysterio was interviewed.

Here's the 81st episode of Z! True Long Island Story. I'd have thought he'd be more of a big deal than he is by 81 episodes, especially given the fan support he got.

Wade Barrett defeated Curt Hawkins on the 8/25 and 8/26 live events. I hope he gets a big push.

The Rock says that he tore his right hamstring at WrestleMania 28.

Interviews with Brodus/Angelina, why TNA ended the Claire Lynch angle, and a question on Punk vs. Cena

Here's another interview with Brodus Clay.

Angelina Love talked WWE, TNA, and more.

The actress playing Claire Lynch left TNA after receiving quite a bit of flak from online fans, who had found her personal websites and accounts. It's a shame that it had to end that way.

For my take on the 8/24 PWInsider.com questions:
1. Not happening. It would be interesting, though weird for Cena to align with Ace after the whole angle with Show. They'd need a good explanation.

There's nothing really to add to the other questions, as my answers echo theirs. More news later!

WWE is looking to add a Chinese superstar to the roster. If they can become a hit there, it will be a big boon to them financially.

Brad Maddox of NXT (formerly FCW) debuted on the main roster as a referee.

Chris Jericho confirmed that he will return to WWE some day.

Triple H and Rey Mysterio talked about Brock Lesnar's WWE return.

To combat some rumors, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is not considering a WWE return and Skyler Moon is still a part of NXT.

After the break, my take on the 8/21 PWInsider.com questions!

Questions on Nash, WWF, Punk/Sheamus, Angle, Cena, Heyman, WWE in LA, PPV venues, Hogans, Barrett, Kharma, Summerslam, Angle vs. Shamrock, Vickie, the WWE Network, WWE PG, Lesnar, wrestling books, WM29, and the Invasion

Here's my take on the 8/16 PWInsider.com questions. More after the break!
1. I still say Nash is every bit the puppetmaster he claims to be, since people keep talking about him and putting his name out there.

2. Maybe they're on good terms now. That's certainly interesting at any rate.

Nothing to add to 3 or 5. I hope they come to terms with the champs.

8/17, 8/18, 8/19, and 8/20 are after the break.
