Raw-Smackdown crossover causing worries, another WWE 12 trailer, where to see Inside Out, Ryder eats an RKO, Questions on media coverage for wrestlers, Taker being bald, advice for HHH, TNA, and locker room etiquette, Orton interview, Jericho goes after Punk again, WWE All-Stars to 3DS, Stone Cold DVD update, recent WWE tryout talks, where Del Rio is, Rosita on 9/11 show, WWE stars at collectibles festival, Edge talks Haven (again), big milestone for Rock, Raw rating, Sting to Mexico, and a Matt Hardy video leads to cops coming to his house

With crossover between Raw and Smackdown becoming a weekly occurrence, a number of WWE superstars are worried about their futures. If they're not featured much (or at all) now, why should they believe things will be different following that announcement? There are some talents who are really going to get lost in the fold now. Maybe WWE should get a working agreement with another company so those people can continue to ply their crafts and improve their work when they don't have anything for them. Keep FCW for people who are still relatively new. There's also the somewhat riskier method of releasing them, then having them work elsewhere for a few years before returning. The problem with that is that they might not come back, and there's no guarantee that Creative will have anything for them in the future.

Here's another trailer for WWE 12, focusing on coverboy Randy Orton.

Here's the very short list of cinemas showing WWE's next release.

During a commercial break on Raw, Zack Ryder tried to "film an episode for his web show". He called for Randy Orton to be on it. The World Champion gave him and RKO. A similar bit was done recently with Triple H on Smackdown. I'm not really sure what that accomplished. Orton and HHH are already big stars; Ryder's just starting to get over. If anything they should have had fun with the premise.

After the break, I go into PWInsider.com's questions and the rest of the day's news, starting with wrestlers getting outside media coverage.

NXT thoughts- 8/30/11

Smackdown's not the only thing on the dais tonight. WWE's also got a new episode of NXT to cover. Derrick Bateman, Titus O'Neil, and Darren Young all continue to battle it out for a shot on the next season of the show, where the winner will get a guaranteed spot on Raw or Smackdown. Who will move closer to evening out their previous elimination? Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

Smackdown thoughts- 8/30/11

Wait, isn't it a little early in the week for this? Raw was just last night! Well, WWE disagrees with me, so tonight we're getting a special edition of Smackdown. Four big matches have been made by COO Triple H: C.M. Punk faces off with The Great Khali in a battle of former World Champions; John Cena goes toe-to-toe with the former Nexus leader Wade Barrett; WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio faces the Mexican sensation Sin Cara; and Randy Orton defends the World Heavyweight Championship in a steel cage against Christian! It doesn't get much bigger than that, so after the break I'm jumping right into my thoughts on the show as it happens!

Super Smackdown preview- 8/30/11

Tonight's a pretty big deal for Smackdown with 4 announced matches, so I'm doing a preview for it. Read on for how I'd book the matches set for it.

JBL talks about a rib on JR, JR-Punk on Twitter, Questions on depushing Sheamus, Punk's personality, Cena using the Crossface, the Invasion, Nexus, and WCW beating WWF, Maria interview, Smackdown live in Canada and UK, Rock talks WWE return, Impact Wrestling preview, Morgan update, TNA timeslot change in UK, Cookie talks, WWE looking to sign DGUSA workers, Mysterio update, Foley talks return, plans for Nash, Natalya interview, Heyman's book postponed, Storm injured, new WWE Twitter, Smackdown rating, Tara talks TNA pay, more on the brand extension possibly ending, WWE playing up Nash storyline, and a glitch during Raw in Canada

JBL gave another story from his wrestling days, dealing with a joke WWE management pulled on Jim Ross. They have a pretty stupid sense of humor. Hopefully that "evened things up" and they decided not to do stunts like that. Maybe next time JR can pull an "I'm leaving the company if you're going to treat me like that" rib. I'm not sure that management would find that as amusing.

Speaking of JR, he had a brief back and forth with C.M. Punk on Twitter about recent traveling.

PWInsider.com has some new questions up to look at:
1. Well, it wasn't like he, Barrett, Regal, and McIntyre did a Curtain Call to form the UK World Order or anything, so it's not really similar to Triple H, but he was pushed down the totem pole for a while because they weren't sure that he'd re-sign with the company. They didn't want another Brock Lesnar or Goldberg situation on their hands.

2. Whoa, whoa, whoa. He's not being paired with Cena. Just because he's been turned into a fan favorite doesn't mean they're on the same page. If they didn't want him to be as big (or bigger) than Cena, he wouldn't be feuding with the COO and one of the biggest stars of the '90s.

After the break, I go into the rest of the day's questions and news, starting with the Crippler Crossface being used.

Raw thoughts- 8/29/11

Last week, we heard from Kevin Nash about why he attacked C.M. Punk. We also saw Alberto Del Rio take out the new #1 Contender to his WWE Championship, John Cena. There will surely be fallout to all of this and more on Raw tonight. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

Questions on WWE using Nash, continuing Punk/Cena, Samoa Joe, Ryder-Hardy, and Christian, Lawler wrestles on Raw house show, another out-there Hardy video, and notable interviews with Morgan, Chavo, and the Nasty Boys

Today's news starts off with questions sent in to PWInsider.com. Here's my take on them:
1. It should. In theory, the angle's a good way to get some of the older fans to tune back in and see what's going on, and for Punk to get the rub from Nash. In practice, a lot of the current audience doesn't know who Nash is and/or didn't see him in his prime, so it won't mean as much as it should when Punk (hopefully) gets the win. The older audience might see Kevin Nash, 6-time World Champion, nWo member, and future Hall of Famer, but the newer audience sees Kevin Nash, 52-year-old who Punk can work circles around.

2. Sounds great on paper (well, computer screen). Punk vs. Cena for 4 straight months might be a little hard to pull off, and Del Rio would need to get out of the shuffle he was somewhat lost in pre-Summerslam, but other than that I really like it.

3. You mean the guy who's going around injuring people? This is actually one of the times it looks like they might have something for him. If they screw up this angle, then I'll jump back on the "TNA dropping the ball with him" bandwagon, but for now I'm cautiously optimistic they might use him right in the near future. And for whatever reason WWE didn't want to sign him a few months back when his contract was up. That would have been a pretty big deal. Hopefully next go-round he gets a closer look from the company. If he can still go to a good degree, I'd be all for him getting a shot there.

After the break, I go into the rest of the day's questions and news, starting with a comparison between Zack Ryder and Matt Hardy.

Sunday, August 28, 2011

Raw wrestler returns, Questions on Kharma's pregnancy, Traci Brooks, Punk vs. Nash, and Miss USA the wrestler, even more from Hardy, Khali the activist, look at Dusty's career, former WWE Diva visits at house show, preview for Impact Wrestling, WWE talent scouts at Harley Race's training camp, Hart interview, Mysterio update, WWE.com talks with Christian, Hogan interview, and a possible rumorkiller

Mason Ryan returned from injury at a recent house show, defeating Zack Ryder. It will be interesting to see what they do with him now that Nexus seems to be done.

As for my take on PWInsider.com's Saturday questions:
1. I haven't seen anything about it either. It was just kind of "one of those things" that happens that they can't really control. No word on a return date. It's still a good ways off, though.

2. There are spoilers out there that probably clarify, but from the way storylines are headed, it looks like she'll return as "Knockout Law", which was basically a GM for the Knockouts division. I don't know if she'll return to the ring in the role, but she'll presumably be there until they drop her storyline.

3. I'm a little surprised that you don't know the name of his finisher given how often it's namedropped during his matches. Anyway, we'll see if he's able to pull that one off when they almost assuredly compete. More surprising things have happened in matches.

After the break, I look at the rest of the day's news and questions, starting with an update on Rima Fakih.

Saturday, August 27, 2011

Query on Gail Kim, more Matt Hardy comments, Sheamus interview, Knockout done with TNA, another house show moved, Questions on TNA picking up Melina and Kim, Generation Me, TNA's revolving door, and Daniel Bryan-submissions specialist, Glacier interview, Helms booked and Daffney arrested for DUIs, Angle interview, status of Sin Cara, updates on Mysterio and Del Rio, WWE's website gets high marks, Slaughter on Facebook, Impact Wrestling rating, more Sheamus and Conan, Flair threatens lawsuit over condition he admitted to having, another round of Cena/Punk on tap?, NXT changes timeslots in Canada, Siaki interview, and DiBiase talks after Smackdown

First off, someone wants to know why Gail Kim is still listed on WWE.com. She's still technically under contract to them. She didn't ask for her release from it; she just told them she quit. They're well within their legal right to keep her there until it expires. Apparently there's not too much time left in it, but she can't do anything for any other company until it's up.

MVP and Matt Hardy commented on the latter's recent issues. The former makes good points.

Update: Matt's ex-girlfriend Lita also spoke on the matter.

Sheamus was interviewed to promote a show in Kansas. His rise to the top of WWE has been very remarkable. Honestly, it kind of "messed up the curve" for everyone else (similar to Alberto Del Rio). We expect people to be that good that quickly when it's not that easy (and he's had years of experience). You couldn't ask for better tutors than the ones he mentioned.

Cookie is gone from TNA after the company didn't renew her contract. They weren't really using her anyway, so I can't blame them here. She talked about her run there ending on Twitter.

In other TNA news, the company has released Aleta Ennis, who handled marketing and publicity for them in Orlando.

After the break, I look at the attendance for the recent Impact Wrestling tapings, and the rest of the day's news and questions.

Smackdown thoughts- 8/26/11

Smackdown's in Calgary tonight, and WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart's in charge. How will he lay down the law on the show's roster? On tap for the main event is a Summerslam rematch of Mark Henry vs. Sheamus. Anything can go down and will tonight on SyFy. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

Why Smackdown house show was canceled, Keenan update, Punk talks Nash and more, house show promo pieces, Piper shoots, Foley to watch WWE with fans for charity, more house show changes, Questions on Punk, tag teams, Foley, Mania in St. Louis, and Gail Kim, MMA fighter not coming to WWE, Italian WWE lawuit update, Flair's legal issues profiled, WWE opens office in Turkey, WWE.com talks to Barrett, what Michael Tarver's angle was leading to, fun with Punk and Austin, and Seth Rollins takes a shot at John Morrison

This contains a minor spoiler for next week's Raw:
The Smackdown house show for Monday was canceled because at least some of the Smackdown stars will be on Raw that night. This could theoretically boost Raw's rating in addition to promoting Super Smackdown.

Sterling James Keenan has been rechristened Corey Graves in FCW. Fine by me. I wish him the best there.

C.M. Punk had a brief but good Q&A in Chicago.

Here are two pieces promoting upcoming WWE house shows. The first features comments from Ted DiBiase working a Raw house show in front of his home crowd. The second mentions Harley Race as a guest host.

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper had some choice words for the current landscape of wrestling, hinting at a return. He's always good for a nostalgia pop. I hope we get Piper's Pit on a hypothetical Old School Raw later this year.

Mick Foley has a new charity raffle up. Pretty awesome idea.

In yet more house show changes, WWE has postponed an event in Tyler, TX on 10/10 and removed a 12/5 event in Albany, GA from their website.

Up next, I go into PWInsider.com's questions and the rest of the day's news, starting with a look at C.M. Punk's contract status.

Superstars and Impact Wrestling thoughts- 8/25/11

Today on Superstars, Daniel Bryan crosses over to the Raw brand to face the sinister Scotman Drew McIntyre. Believe it or not, McIntyre used to be considered a future champion like Bryan could be when he cashes in Money In The Bank. Then, on Impact Wrestling, Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan call out Sting, Kurt Angle answers Crimson's challenge, and AJ Styles teams with Beer Money to face Scott Steiner, Abyss, and Gunner in a Fortune vs. Immortal Bound For Glory Series match. All this and more upcoming! Read on for my thoughts on the shows as they happen.

More on Grisham's departure, Maryse update, Questions on Sin Cara, salaries, the Hardys, and using another performer's move, more from Matt Hardy and friends including hospital visit, Joey Styles talks about NXT Season 5, Miz meets Goldberg, new ShopTNA, Hart talks to WWE.com, Sheamus appearance, Hogan interview, long Nash interview, another Smackdown house show canceled, Helms comments on Hardys. and new WWE film gets website

Todd Grisham begins at ESPN on 10/1. They've got to put him with Coachman at some point. It's just too natural. But as I've mentioned, he's not the most exciting guy to listen to. I think he could work in that environment though.

Update: Grisham talked about his departure on Twitter, as did fellow WWE to ESPN transplant Jonathan Coachman.

Maryse went in to treat her hernia today. I hope she got good news.

On to PWInsider.com's questions:
1. Yes, he'll learn that he sells a lot of merchandise for someone who hasn't been on the roster for all that long and is pretty over. I don't think it 100% ruins them if they have an extensive background working a similar style to what WWE does, but in general I think they'll want people to get training there still.

2. It varies, a lot. How high on the card you are and so on. In TNA, some wrestlers get a standard amount each year while others get paid on a per-appearance basis (and generally make a lot less).

After the break, I look at the rest of the day's news and questions, starting with a look at who's been signed to TNA since the new regime gained control.

Wednesday, August 24, 2011

Spoiler on upcoming TNA return, Questions on the Invasion angle, Zack Ryder, the Hardys, and Tommy Dreamer, another charge against Hardy, Morgan on "Made" online, more Hardy online drama, Rey talks Del Rio, Pec-tacular interview, Aussie ratings, Harts at Smackdown, more press for Hardy arrest, more on new WWE hire, how to get free tickets to Impact Wrestling taping, Nash video, Summerslam in LA once more?, WWE analyzes Laurinaitis, Foley update, wrestlers talk WWE 12, Raw rating, Jericho update, new WWE developmental signing, New Age Outlaws on Facebook, and a WWE announcer heads to ESPN,

Today's notes start off with a spoiler in regards to a big return to TNA:
Jeff Hardy posted on Twitter that he'll be returning to the company at the next set of Impact Wrestling tapings. His legal status is unchanged. It doesn't look good that a top star might end up in rehab or jail if the cards fall that way, but they're thinking about the money they think he'll still be able to draw. Time will tell whether or not this risk pays off for them.

PWInsider.com has some new questions up to gander at:
1. This one's a pretty popular "what if". I remember things differently from them, and people who were privy to the WCW purchase do as well. A lot of those stars WWE "could have gotten" might not have played too well in a system without guaranteed contracts and likely working more shows than they did "down South". They could have either signed on with WWE, likely taken a pay cut from what AOL Time Warner gave them, and not been as big of a deal as they used to be (by having more credible competition in the company), or sit at home, possibly let any injuries and bumps heal up, and make whatever was left on those guaranteed deals (that weren't included in the purchase). A number of those people had bad reputations in the asylum of WCW anyway. Heck, a lot of the good talents had already jumped ship some time previously!

As for the actual booking of the storyline, WWE "won" 3 PPVs to 2. Shane McMahon "bought" WCW in March and the WWE "put it out of business" in November. There were notable WWE stars on the WCW side to even things up, since a good number of the people bought weren't considered ready for such a big angle and were put in developmental. And running WCW as its own entity's farfetched since no network wanted to touch it. Why would they sabotage Smackdown (as some have suggested) by turning it into a brand people were fleeing from left and right? ECW was added to the mix in July, before the initial Invasion PPV.

And of course there's the core problem... why would WWE fans, most of whom made a conscious decision to not watch WCW, want to see a bunch of WCW on "their" wrestling show? I hope that sheds some light on things.

After the break, I go into the rest of the day's news and questions, starting with Zack Ryder.

NXT thoughts- 8/23/11

Tonight continues the (mis)adventures of Darren Young, Titus O'Neil, and Derrick Bateman as they compete for possible redemption.Who will move closer to a spot on Season 6, whenever that may be? Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

Queries on Trish and Sarita, Matt Hardy court date, Questions on DDP, Jake Roberts as Raw GM, Christian, and Del Rio vs. Show, Stone Cold talks Punk and Tough Enough, how Edge got his role on "Haven", WWE's corporate restructuring continues, Ivan Koloff profile, more on Hardy's arrest, Baio and Young on TMZ, Hogan talks with Forbes, TNA changing timeslots in the UK, Hart at Smackdown taping, DiBiase Sr. discusses his sons, Mysterio to undergo surgery, TV taping at house show?, MVP interview, Smackdown rating, and an upcoming FCW release

First, someone asks if Trish Stratus will return to WWE. I really doubt it. Outside of a cameo here and there and Tough Enough, I don't think we'll be seeing her.

The second query of the day asks how long Sarita will wear her new mask. I haven't seen any kind of timeframe. In fact, I don't know if she still "needs" it for her facial paralysis. It could be like Cody Rhodes where they like what it adds to her look so they'll keep it until they decide to go to a different direction.

Matt Hardy will be in court on 9/28 for his DWI and exceeding safe speeds.

Update: Here's his mugshot. Sigh.

Here are my thoughts on PWInsider.com's Monday questions:
1. Some of it might be a case of people remembering Goldberg's streak more than they remember DDP 10+ years after the fact. And some of it could be that Goldberg was treated as a much bigger deal in WWE than DDP was in WWE and TNA. Just a theory.

2. Two words: Wellness Policy. Seriously though, even if he was clean, the man's barely mobile and comprehensible now. I don't want to have to sit through long, rambling promos every week.

3. It's possible, but that's not really a wrestling question.

After the break, I go into the rest of the day's news and questions, starting with an explanation on the Big Show/Alberto Del Rio feud.

Monday, August 22, 2011

Raw thoughts- 8/22/11

Last week, Alberto Del Rio was able to take out Rey Mysterio before being confronted by John Cena. How will the new WWE Champion be able to hang with a man who's been to the top of the mountain more times than any active WWE superstar? Also, the fallout continues from Kevin Nash's attack of C.M. Punk: will we get more clues to the mystery? All this and plenty more on Raw tonight. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens!

Query on HBK/Nash, Carters at TNA house show, TNA co-founder blasts company, Questions on Hogan's priorities, Crimson/Red, TNA stuck in the past, and ROH's timeslots, Matt Morgan on "Made" rating, JBL talks Eddie-Kurt brawl, update on both Sin Caras, WWE Corporate departures, and Hardy talks DWI

I got a query today asking if Shawn Michaels will return to team with Kevin Nash. There hasn't been any indication that he'll be returning to the ring. A cameo's not out of the range of possibility, though.

Dixie Carter and her family appeared at a recent TNA house show. Her father and grandfather are from the area (Rome, GA). They continued to play up the "trying to get the company back angle. It was teased that a future Impact Wrestling or PPV would be taped there, but I think they might tease that at a lot of house shows. Notable absences from the show: Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Eric Bischoff, Sting, Kurt Angle, Scott Steiner, Bully Ray, and Devon. Given how much TV time those people get, you'd think they'd be headlining the house shows. Some of them appear at some house shows, but it's not a general rule that they'll appear.

Speaking of the mess that is TNA, after the break I look at Jerry Jarrett's latest swipes at the company he helped build, as well as the rest of the day's news and questions.

Sunday, August 21, 2011

Query on Orlando Jordan, alleged assault over WWE tickets, Goldberg teasing return, Morrison interview, possible match for BFG, Natalya interviews, Be A Star criticisms rescinded, and Matt Hardy released following DWI

First up, someone wants to know if we'll see Orlando Jordan back in WWE. The company's looking primarily at new, younger talents to bring aboard so I wouldn't count on that happening.

In the "this is why we can't have nice things" category: A WWE fan is being charged with felony domestic violence after a dispute allegedly over tickets. Doesn't exactly shine a good light on the company, but odds are if it wasn't this, it'd be something else setting him off. Sigh.

This story's been building up for a bit now, but there hasn't been much on it that's concrete: Goldberg has stated that he could be returning to the ring by the end of 2011, but shot down going to WWE or TNA. Batista was thrown out as a potential opponent. I'll stay on top of this story since although it apparently won't take place in one of the major promotions, that's a pretty big matchup.

John Morrison gave an in-character interview to promote an upcoming Raw. Cool I guess.

PWInsider.com apparently didn't have any questions today, so after the break I look at a likely Bound For Glory match and the rest of the day's news.

Saturday, August 20, 2011

Query on Rosita, Morgan interview, Be A Star member wants out, Superstars match as WWE tryout?, Impact Wrestling match re-shot, Cena scouts in FCW, Questions on Summerslam, Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara, and Scott Baio, why Nash couldn't work indy dates, Smackdown house show moved, interviews with the KISS Demon and Jeremiah Riggs, more comments on the Young Bucks, why WWE canceled house show, Miz in Europe, Bellas blog, WWE executive leaves, Impact Wrestling rating, Bret Hart talks and the WWE stock takes a hit

Here's a query I've been getting recently: Is TNA's Rosita going to WWE? I don't know how or where the rumor started but I haven't seen anything about her leaving TNA or WWE showing any interest in her.

Matt Morgan was interviewed on CMT's "Made" Facebook page in conjunction with his appearance on that show. A little hard to follow because of the format, but a fairly good read.

A representative for the Council for Unity stated in no uncertain terms that they wish to be removed from the "Be A Star" campaign due to the links to WWE. They certainly make a good point about the fat jokes towards Vickie Guerrero. That's the kind of thing that needs to be eliminated from the show's babyface promos.

Los Angeles' Principe Orion wrestled as Jose Vargas on Thursday's Superstars episode. He received a tryout over Summerslam weekend, so he's on the company's radar.

The X-Division gauntlet match that aired on Impact Wrestling was shot twice over the course of the tapings, with TNA going with the second run-through.

After the break, I look at the rest of the day's questions and news, starting with John Cena's evaluation of FCW talents.

Smackdown thoughts- 8/19/11

Last Sunday, Randy Orton defeated Christian to become World Champion once again. Yes, just like a few months ago. What's next for the Viper and the man who turned his back on his peeps? Find out the answer to that and more tonight on Smackdown. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

R-Truth talks "Little Jimmy" origins and more, Mysterio update, Questions on Angle-Sting, where the Nitro Girls went, McCool's retirement affecting Taker, WWE stars discuss Pacquiao, TNA now available in African countries, upcoming online-only WWE Legends figures, WWE merch survey, names interviewed for Austin DVD, more from Laurinaitis on WWE.com, WWE cancels this weekend's house show, Nash pulled from indy dates, TNA spoils title change before Impact Wrestling, TNA Halloween costumes, Smackdown live on a Tuesday, Sin Cara's suspension up, updates on Hogan and Bischoff's TNA deals, Nash updates, and TNA announces the signings of the X-Division gauntlet participants.

R-Truth was profiled in a hometown magazine. Fantastic read. His heel turn makes me wonder what other people on both companies' rosters have something that amazing lying under the surface.

Rey Mysterio has been given time off to rehab his knee injury, avoiding surgery if possible. He had an MRI on hic knee recently, and will get the results in about a week. Mysterio continues to wrestle on borrowed time. He's one of the company's top acts, so they don't want him to be out for long if it can be avoided.

Up next, a look at PWInsider.com's questions:
1. As I understand it, Angle and Sting were both babyfaces going into Hardcore Justice. Angle did indeed turn heel at the show, but Sting's still a face. The Joker character didn't turn him heel as much as give him more of an edge. Chaotic Good might be a good way to describe it.

2. I assume you mean her recent progress, because I seem to remember her getting in the ring a bit (seldomly) when she was on ECW. Either way, she's gone from being a "pretty face" who danced to a pretty competent performer. She's not the best Knockout, but she's come a long way. So, based on where she started in 2006 or so to now, maybe around a 7?

After the break, I go into the rest of the day's questions and news, starting with the Nitro Girls.

Superstars and Impact Wrestling thoughts- 8/18/11

Today, whenever WWE Superstars goes up, Zack Ryder will look to continue his internet dominance in a match with Drew McIntyre. Later on Impact Wrestling, Sting responds to the attack he received from Kurt Angle and Hulk Hogan last week. There will also be an 8-man X-Division gauntlet match to become #1 Contender, Beer Money putting the tag team titles on the line against Mexican America, and AJ Styles facing Rob Van Dam in a BFG Series match. All this and more today. Read on for my thoughts on the shows as they happen!

JBL looks at the future of PPV, Smackdown dark match features FCW wrestler and indy star, more on Monday's mouse, Questions on Jackson, Rhodes, Punk leaving, Cena as a heel, models in WWE, and Lesnar, more WWE 12 trailers, another new X-Divisioner, TNA appearances, updates on Sin Cara and Kevin Eck, old Nash interview, next WWE Films release, HBK/Bret DVD artwork, WWE K-Mart deal, Foley talks "Greatest Stars" exclusion, new feature for 2012 WWE Mattel line, TNA sets UK ratings records in July, Booker talks a return and the Young Bucks, and Mysterio sells an injury

JBL talked about how he sees the future of PPVs for wrestling. Smart man. I think he's on the money here.

The dark match before Smackdown saw FCW Champion Bo Rotundo face off with Joey Ryan, who was one of the planted fans at Summerslam and had a tryout before Raw. We might should keep an eye on this guy as the company continues to look to restructure the roster. In a similar situation to him was Scorpio Sky, who was a "security guard" for Kevin Nash on Monday.

Arena officials in San Diego commented on the white mouse appearing during Raw. Not sure why pranksters decided to go that route, or how they got it in the building in the first place.

PWInsider.com has some new questions up:
1. I think that while the torture rack does look rather silly, coupled with the scoop slams it's a credible way to win. The uranage can indeed be dangerous, and they're trying to protect the workers to a degree (which is why you don't see as many high-flying moves and weapons as during the Attitude Era). As for losing to Rhodes, give it some time to play out. He could easily gain momentum back by a strong showing in the near future.

2. Cena would almost certainly win. It'd be insane to put over the guy who's leaving the company.

After the break, I go into the rest of the day's questions and news, starting with yet another question on John Cena turning heel.

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

Yang still not paid, rundown of Orton DVD, Questions on taping Raw and Smackdown in the same city, Divas, and Vince getting credit, WWE tryouts include ex-TNA team, where Eric Young's angle is going, Bound For Glory poste, Cena talks faces and heels, Del Rio and a rodent who isn't Conor O'Brian, boxers at Mania?, odd gimmick pitch, Orton and Barney, Santino, Rey, and Truth interviews, Richie Steamboat has car broken into, Orton promotes Smackdown, former TNA Creative member talks, Raw rating, FCW Divas officially return, and some new WWE trademarks

Jimmy Yang has still not been paid by TNA for his June appearance. He wouldn't have to be unprofessional if they paid him, now would he?

Here's a rundown of what's on the upcoming Randy Orton DVD.

PWInsider.com has some new questions up today:
1. In addition to what they said, that would be potentially great for the cities they hit both times, but the somewhat smaller cities they wouldn't risk that on wouldn't be as pleased. I don't see them running Greensboro, NC two nights in a row, so it'd be skipped altogether except for house shows. That would suck.

2. I detailed my pitch in my Summerslam preview. I think they definitely can go somewhere with the division. Them getting longer TV matches would help them out, but there's only so much space on the main shows. A number of them seem to be improving, but the tree's falling with no one around to hear it so to speak. Catching Superstars and house shows would be the best bets to see what the women can do. Goldust is working with them behind the scenes, so I think we could be in for some better matches from some of them.

There's nothing to add to #3, so after the break I'll look into a recent publicity stunt and everything else on the docket for the day.

NXT thoughts- 8/16/11

Tonight is the latest episode of NXT: Redemption. Darren Young, Derrick Bateman, and Titus O'Neil once more seek to impress the WWE Universe and Pros as we gear up for the next elimination.... whenever that is. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

Henry vs. Sheamus note, WWE day in Santee, CA, Nash's offer to Punk, More on Nash angle, Questions on questions, Benoit, Hawkins, Foley, agents, and Lawler, Cee Lo talks Road Warriors and more, artwork for ,who Kelly embraced, WM27 special rating, artwork for upcoming WWE movie, Michaels cancels UK tour, referee and possibly Tough Enough winner suspended for Wellness violation, Masters talks release, Smackdown rating, and Summerslam draws over $1 million

The fans in the area around where Mark Henry and Sheamus went through the barricade on Sunday were independent wrestlers from PWG put there to make sure no actual fans were hurt. Smart move.

The Representative for the area including Santee, CA has named 8/15/11 as "WWE Day" due to the company's appearances at the Boys and Girls Club there. Cool.

Back in July after Punk resigned with WWE, Kevin Nash offered via Twitter to be his "backup" as a full-time gig. So unless he was told to post that by Creative, it looks this is a case of him wanting to work with Punk and being granted it.

WWE stirred the post-Summerslam pot with this post. I'm very interested to see where the Nash angle goes.

PWInsider.com has some new questions up to look at:
1. The whole point of the Q&A there is for people to get the site's members' opinions on things. So that's why those pieces are opinion-based. Not to mention that there's more than one person answering things on different days there, so one of them might contradict another. As for the wasps' nest that stirred, I think you can remember Benoit for both things. It's not an easy to task to separate the two, though I think one of them takes precedence, and it isn't his (admittedly off-the-charts) wrestling.

After the break, I look at the rest of the day's news and questions, starting with the future for Curt Hawkins.

Raw thoughts- 8/15/11

Last night, C.M. Punk defeated John Cena to become the unified and undisputed WWE Champion. Then, just as he soaked in the fans' cheers, he was taken out by Kevin Nash. This unexpected occurrence was followed by the cashing in of Money In The Bank by the man who is now champion, Alberto Del Rio. The fallout to Summerslam is coming tonight on Raw as the new champion puts his title on the line against Rey Mysterio. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

WWE 12 highlights, Questions on TNA's recent booking, Punk beating Cena, the Hardys in rehab, and the new IC Champion, Finkel and Del Rio interviews, Masters crashes AXXESS, Kim and JBL updates, Punk Q&A, another HBK book, and a number of Summerslam notes

Here's a nearly 13-minute long video showing off WWE '12.

As for my look at PWInsider.com's Sunday questions:
1. Presumably there's SOMETHING they're building towards with the turns, but for now everyone seems to be scratching their heads as to what that could be. I guess the goal is to further Hogan-Sting through longtime Sting rival Angle, and get sympathy on Anderson to a degree. No telling on how long they'll keep those ideas before throwing in another seemingly out-of-nowhere swerve though.

They covered everything there is to cover on 2, so I'll skip to 3: I think it the ending was more surprising, but that was certainly out of the ordinary in its own right. I'd actually be rather surprised if Punk pulled out the Pepsi Plunge. They'd almost certainly have to call it something else legally, for one. The move itself isn't the type of thing WWE pulls out anyway, with their no-piledriver policy (except Kane and Undertaker) and the like.

4. I've seen that one floating around the net, but haven't seen it confirmed by a credible enough source, so if it is, it hasn't been "proven" well enough for me to accept it.

After the break, I look at the future for Ezekiel Jackson and the rest of the day's news.

WWE Summerslam thoughts

Tonight's a big night for WWE. Between a No Holds Barred World Title match and a WWE Title Unification match, the very landscape of the company could change. The first pay-per-view of the Triple H Era is upon us! Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

WWE Summerslam preview

Tonight's one of the biggest events of the wrestling year, where we'll see the crowning of a unified WWE Champion and two competitors go no holds barred for the World Title. Not to mention the other title and grudge matches on the card. Read on for how I'd book the show.

Query on Kozlov, a look at the upcoming WWE Network, Questions on Hogan and the UK, Molly Holly, and Jake Roberts, WWE.com Bryan inrerview, another look at WWE Studios, more from Edge, and the roster for WWE '12.

First up, someone asks if we'll see Vladimir Kozlov head to TNA. I honestly don't think I've seen anything on Kozlov since his WWE release. It's always possible, but I wouldn't bet on him going there, seeing as how crowded the company is already. They actually could have had him before his WWE run, as it was Jerry Jarrett who brought him to the company's attention.

A media blog downplayed the odds of a WWE Network happening. The company's done a lot of work in preparing for it, so I think it will come out eventually.

PWInsider.com has some new Saturday questions:
1. I didn't cover it because I didn't think it was newsworthy enough (as a wrestling story) and there already plenty of "Hogan comments on _______" stories out there. I found the comments kind of silly honestly, and not in the entertaining way. There's staying in character and then there's... that, which wasn't even part of a wrestling interview. He could easily have just said "I hope all my UK Hulkamaniacs are safe" or something. It's like he's a caricature of himself at this point sometimes.

After the break, I go into the rest of the day's questions and news, starting with where Molly Holly is.

Queries on Tough Enough and Mattel-WWE, X-Division performer claiming he wasn't paid by TNA, Questions on Sid's injury, Kharma's pregnancy, nudity in WWE films, Foley's books, and Blitzkrieg, AXXESS line-up changes, Sheamus on Conan video, WWE stars sound off on Punk/Cena, Rhodes interview, stars at anti-bullying event, Del Rio and Bryan interviews, more from Eric Young, Miz challenges Mysterio, no DWTS for Hogan, Impact Wrestling rating, and WWE's anti-bullying campaign profiled

For today's queries:
1. I haven't heard any updates on a new season of Tough Enough. Even if/when they do greenlight it, they have to go through a whole new batch of casting and the like, so it would be a while before we saw it on TV.

2. I don't think wrestlers have to sign any kind of special contract to be made as action figures. It's likely covered in their regular deals, which give the companies the rights to use/market their likenesses.

Jimmy (Wang) Yang is claiming that he has yet to be paid by TNA for his match from June outside of a bounced check. Part of me wants them to just go under, BUT it'd be much better for the business if they got their act together and we had 2 solid national wrestling companies. It gets harder and harder to think that will happen sometimes, though.

PWInsider.com has some new questions up to analyze:
1. No. It was almost certainly legitimate. If it was a storyline, they made an incredibly convincingly gruesome injury on live PPV. An injury that Sid would have had to have sold for years past WCW's purchase by the WWF, given that he walked with a cane for quite some time. Him suing WCW in an actual court over the injury would also have had to have been a huge farce. I've heard some dumb conspiracy theories, but that one might take the cake.

2. To believe that she's not pregnant is to believe that WWE would throw away all that momentum she had built to take her off of TV, and pay her, for an entire year. Another pretty stupid notion. Anyway, I haven't heard of there being any heat on her for the pregnancy, and I don't know if it's been acknowledged who the father is.

After the break, I look at the rest of the day's news and questions, starting with whether we'll see a WWE Diva nude in a future film.

Smackdown thoughts- 8/12/11

The biggest PPV of the summer is just 2 nights away. WWE COO Triple H will be in attendance tonight as we get the final build to that show. Randy Orton's about to face Christian in a No Holds Barred match on the card; what will go down between Champion and challenger tonight? All this and more on Smackdown. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

Queries on Lacey Von Erich, Kaitlyn, and Mr. Anderson, Questions on Living Colour, HHH as champion again, Hardcore Justice, Cena/Rock, and the Ghost Hunters, Variety looks at WWE action figures, Bryan interviews, WWE-Boys and Girls Club, WWE books, OJ interview, WWE to offer audience for PPVs commentary, assault accusations against Smackdown star, Edge at future Smackdown taping, Hogan talks TNA, and an update on Matt Hardy

For today's queries sent to the blog:
1. I haven't seen anything to suggest that Lacey Von Erich will be back in TNA this year (or at any point for that matter). In fact, I haven't heard/seen anything on her in quite some time.

2. According to FCW's website at one point, Kaitlyn's finisher is a Wedgie Flatliner, so maybe she actually does give wedgies (as suggested by a promo she cut on NXT Season 3). I've heard from people who've met her who say she's pretty similar to how she is on-screen, so take from that what you will!

3. I don't see Mr. Anderson returning to WWE. They had quite the falling out, and Anderson's had a number of negative things to say about them since going to TNA, so I'm leaning strongly towards "no" to that one.

PWInsider.com had some questions of their own today. Here's my take on them:
1. I haven't seen anything to suggest that. It'd be a pretty cool idea for a future PPV, though.

After the break, I go into the rest of the day's questions and news, starting with whether Triple H will ever hold another World Title.

Superstars and Impact Wrestling thoughts- 8/11/11

Today on WWE.com, Santino Marella teams with Evan Bourne in a match against the WWE Tag Team Champions. Will the unlikely pairing be able to beat the NXT alumni? Later, on Impact Wrestling, new World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle will discuss his match with Sting from Hardcore Justice. The war between Immortal and Fortune will also continue on the show. Read on for my thoughts on all this and more as the shows air.

Query on Luke Gallows, Hansen autobiography released, new WWE Creative hire, Questions on changing Creative, WWE getting into baseball, Chavo in TNA, and Punk's future, ESPN talks Punk again, Edge and Bryan interviews, and the head of WWE Films leaves

To answer a query sent in today, yes Luke Gallows could come back to WWE if they wanted to sign him again. I don't know what the odds of that happening are, but there's nothing preventing them from doing so. TNA could also sign him if they so chose.

Stan Hansen's autobiography "The Last Outlaw" has been released.

WWE has hired Kevin Eck of the Baltimore Sun to join their Creative team. He starts at the end of the month. I'm not really familiar with him outside of his interviews with wrestlers.

Update: Eck blogged about the job switch.

PWInsider.com has questions up today:
1. Well, WWE doesn't want an old-school wrestling show. They want an action soap opera. The idea sounds good in theory, but we don't know what their booking would be like. If it'd produce good TV, I'd be all for it, but those people would have to want to be bookers and WWE would have to switch around or hire new people as agents and trainers and such.

2. That's the first time I've heard that one. They're getting more and more creative with "rumors" it seems. If Vince was going to buy the Red Sox, the story'd be all over the place.

There's nothing to add to #3, so after the break I jump to a question on Chavo Guerrero going to TNA, as well as the rest of the day's news and questions.

Wednesday, August 10, 2011

More on Gail Kim and Melina, WWE doing KotR DVD, new X-Divisioner signed in TNA, Questions on Gunner vs. Fortune, Miz, PPV songs, Yokozuna in the Hall, and Smackdown going live, Austin interviews, long Edge interview, Miz lip-synchs, Christian promotes Smackdown, Ziggler talks hockey, Miz talks Summerslam, FCW updates, Raw rating, TNA return, Punk podcast, and WWE.com catches up with Michelle McCool

Gail Kim has given more updates on her WWE status on Twitter.

Melina commented on the "splits" reference Beth Phoenix made on Raw, which she perceived to be a jab at her. She also says that she wasn't allowed into the arena to watch her boyfriend John Morrison compete. It doesn't sound like she and WWE are on very good terms right now.

Booker T. will be hosting an upcoming King of the Ring DVD in his King Booker persona. That should be pretty entertaining in its own ridiculous way.

TNA has signed Tony Nese, who was one of the X-Division competitors who competed in the tournament heading into Destination X. I honestly don't remember which one he was. He was apparently trained by the same people who trained Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder, though, so maybe he'll be worth watching in longer matches.

After the break, I go into PWInsider.com's questions. First up, why did Fortune beat up Gunner 4 on 1 if they're faces?

NXT thoughts- 8/9/11

Tonight there's another episode of NXT. Join Pros JTG, Tyson Kidd, Yoshi Tatsu, Vladimir Kozlov, Chavo Guerrero, Daniel Bryan and Hornswoggle in evaluating the remaining three contestants. Who will move one step closer to earning a spot on Season 6? Who will move one step closer to elimination? Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

Queries on Melina, Chris Masters, Kozlov and Daffney, Update on Gail Kim, Questions on Hogan, Taker/HBK III, Johnny Curtis, Rey's height, and HHH's insults, Aussie ratings, update on new WWE writer, more releases to come, Chavo talks leaving WWE and more, WWE.com interviews Sheamus, Punk = $$$, Usos on Twitter, note on Sin Cara's return, possible FCW releases (including a 2-time NXT contestant), and Smackdown's rating

A number of queries to start off the day:
1. Melina's future is currently unknown. Some have speculated that her backstage reputation could make TNA think twice about signing her, but this is TNA we're talking about. If they think she can make money for them, and she's willing to work there, I don't see that stopping them. As of now, though, there hasn't been any news about what she's going to do when her no-compete clause is up.

2. Chris Masters made a sly reference to TNA on Twitter after his release, so he just might end up there. I hope so. He's 28 and has been improving over the past few years. They might have another D'Angelo Dinero on their hands.

3. As far as I know, Kozlov wasn't legitimately injured on Smackdown. At least, I haven't heard anything saying that he was.

4. No news on Daffney possibly going to WWE. They tend to go for younger, perkier Divas, with the notable exception of Kharma. I'd like to see it, but since they haven't signed her yet, the chances don't look as good.

While WWE.com has removed the profiles of the four released talents, Gail Kim is still listed as part of the Raw roster. She may technically still be under contract.

Update: WWE hasn't yet decided how to handle her departure, since she quit instead of asking for a release from her contract. The worst-case scenario is that they keep her from working elsewhere until her contract officially expires.

After the break, I go into PWInsider.com's questions and all of the rest of the day's news.

Raw thoughts- 8/8/11

It's six nights way from Summerslam and tonight both WWE Champions will be in action. C.M. Punk and John Cena will unify their titles on Sunday, and they make the match official with a contract signing on Raw. What else will be made for the biggest PPV of the summer? Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

Cena rumorkiller, TNA employees let go, JAKKS comments on cancellation of Wounded Warrior figure, Generation Me talks TNA and more, WWE injuries, Questions on "burying" Zack Ryder, Kelly's push, the X-Division, turning Cena heel, and Punk's return, Morgan's "Made" appearance profiled, Shelley and Mickie talk Hardcore Justice, Prichard interview, Kendrick and Crimson promote Hardcore Justice, and previews for Raw and Impact Wrestling

The latest dumb rumor out is that WWE is planning on changing The Rock vs. John Cena at WrestleMania. Umm, no. They sold a LARGE number of tickets based on that match headlining the show. The only reason I commented on it was because Cena specifically mentioned it on Twitter and that got picked up by the credible sites. Any site that reported that rumor as a fact should be ignored from this point out.

A number of front-office employees have been let go by TNA, but no major names are being reported.

JAKKS released a statement on the canceling of the Kurt Angle Wounded Warrior figure.

The former Generation Me had an interview recently where they discussed where their careers are now and their run in TNA. They're right about TNA not knowing what they were doing with them. Granted, they were pretty low on the totem pole there. As for them not getting much time to get their stories over, this has also been a constant problem with the company. They have too many people doing too many things, and they can't properly showcase all of them. If they're not using some of these people, they should cut them loose.

I can see their side of the story about RVD, too. He definitely has a reputation as an egotist. If they really were respectful and asked other veterans for advice, good for them. As for them going to WWE, I don't see it happening. There's much more versatile talent out there they could sign.

After the break, I look at some recent WWE injuries, and the rest of the day's questions and news.

TNA Hardcore Justice thoughts

TNA has nine matches on tap tonight, continuing the Bound For Glory Series and pitting Kurt Angle against Sting for the World Championship. Rivalries continue at the show, and titles are on the line. How will things turn out? Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

Sunday, August 7, 2011

TNA Hardcore Justice preview

TNA's got another PPV on tonight, so it's time for another fantasy booking post. There are nine matches scheduled for the show as of this writing, and I'm going on the information already provided, so if there's any last-minute lineup changes, they won't appear here. Read on for how I'd book the show featuring a number of title matches.

David Hart Smith update, Edge interview, WWE Classics on Demand update, ex-Tough Enough contestant on FCW website, Questions on Orton vs. Taker, JR, Velvet Sky, and Punk's friends returning, HHH on Fallon recap, Orton looking for feedback, big WWE tryouts

David Hart Smith is headed to Japan following his WWE release. I wish him the best there. He's still young, and maybe he'll pick up some new tricks there for an eventual return.

Edge was part of a long interview with The Score recently.

WWE is relaunching their online Classics on Demand service as WWEgreatestmatches.com. Cool enough, though that doesn't cover the other companies in their library.

Cameron Lynn, added to the FCW roster page recently, is Ariane Andrew from Tough Enough. I was all set to blast them over this signing, but apparently she's showing aptitude towards the product now. Time will tell on this one.

After the break, I go into PWInsider.com's questions of the day, starting with the odds of Orton vs. Taker at Mania.

Saturday, August 6, 2011

Query on WWE buying TNA, WWE interviews HHH, Hogan appearing for wrestling company, Edge interview, Questions on the brand extension, Traci Brooks, Sin Cara-Averno, Punk vs. Bryan, and Dana White, Sin Cara to return before 30 days?, Melina talks negativity, Devon interview, former developmental talent passes away, new Hardcore Justice bout, new faces in FCW, more releases could be coming, Impact Wrestling rating, and WWE interviews with Mysterio and Laurinaitis

First up, for whomever sent in the question to the blog, there aren't any plans for WWE to buy TNA. As far as I know, they've never legitimately considered doing so, and I don't see that stance changing any time in the near future.

WWE.com has another interview up, this time with Triple H. He continues to make me think there's at least one more match in his future.

I found this a bit odd: Hulk Hogan will be appearing for a Canadian wrestling promotion for a couple of dates later in the month. Just think how much those appearances would mean for TNA house shows.

IGN.com caught up with Edge before his first appearance on SyFy's Haven. Good read. He's a pretty smart guy.

After the break, I go into PWInsider.com's questions and the rest of the day's news, starting with whether WWE's ending the brand decision any time soon.

Smackdown thoughts- 8/5/11

Tonight on WWE Smackdown, we continue to approach Summerslam. It's just 10 nights left until Randy Orton faces Christian for the World Heavyweight Championship, and both men are at the she tonight. Plus, Sheamus will come face-to-face with Mark Henry. Has the Celtic Warrior bitten off more than he can chew? All this and more tonight. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

Gail Kim, Melina, Vladimir Kozlov, Chris Masters, and David Hart Smith all gone from WWE

WWE released 4 talents from their contracts on 8/5, and a 5th left of her own free will. The timing comes right after their recent Q2 2011 earnings report, so this was likely a case of them looking to trim what they considered fat. After the break, I look at each release, and all of the other news related to the releases.

Friday, August 5, 2011

WWE does interviews with Cena and Punk, Questions on the Raw GM, Divas' matches, and a Knockouts' show, WWE catches up with the "Kiss Demon", misc. Knockouts' news, Cena and Miz at TCA, new TNA advertising partnership, more on Jeremiah at FCW, Foley to be involved in non-wrestling show?, former X-Division Champion parts ways with TNA, and updates on Rock, Matt Hardy, and Undertaker

WWE has posted a series of interviews with John Cena and C.M. Punk leading to their match at Summerslam. I agree with Punk about the people he named getting more opportunities on TV. Hopefully we'll (continue to) see a transition in the company from the more established names who can't "go" like they used to to the up-and-comers. They're getting a good deal out of the older wrestlers as the younger ones get more experienced, and it's certainly been a better mix than TNA, so I really hope the pattern continues and they let those talents move up te ladder when the time comes for the wrestlers close to, at, or above 40 to hang it up.

PWInsider.com has new questions today. Here are my thoughts on them in order:
I can't add anything to add to #1, but for 2. They could if they wanted to. I'd be a bit surprised if they had Triple H on-screen for too long of a stretch, but it remains to be see how much they'll use him. At some point, though, presumably a COO or Chairman or whatever won't be on TV and the Raw GM will be back in charge of the "day-to-day" of the brand. But, they could fire him/her and come up with someone else in the role. It could go a number of ways.

3. Episodes of Superstars and house shows routinely have longer Divas' matches. WWE just doesn't see them as as big enough of a priority to give them more time on Raw or Smackdown (where the more major angles and characters are seen). I'd also like to see more of the Divas, but there's only so much time and a fair amount of it usually goes to the top stars or other major storylines. It's similar to the tag team division in some ways. They just get behind other things.

After the break, I look at the rest of the day's questions and (non-financial) news, starting with the idea of a Knockouts-only show.

WWE Q2 2011 Financial Results

WWE published their financial results for the months of April, May, and June today, and there's a LOT to cover, so it got its own post. After the break, I'll look at everything that was released.

Superstars and Impact Wrestling thoughts- 8/4/11

Today on WWE Superstars, Jack Swagger goes up against Chris Masters in a battle of submission users. Will the ankle lock or MasterLock prevail? Then, on Impact Wrestling, Kurt Angle and Sting sign the contract for their upcoming TNA Title match. Also, in the Bound For Glory Series, there's Joe vs. Dinero, Styles vs. Devon, Steiner/Gunner vs. RVD/Crimson. Who will move up the rankings tonight? Read on for my thoughts on the shows as they happen.

Query on Cara-Del Rio, Questions on Benoit not being on DVDs, Taker or Rock vs. Cena, Punk's angle vs. the Attitude Era, and TNA's name change, Matt talks Tough Enough, Jericho update, Vickie gets T-shirt, Maryse granted restraining order, Bischoff interview, Sting reviews his action figure, WM27 special update, HHH on Fallon, CMT wrestling movie trailer, WWE All-Stars DLC, Angle figure scrapped, Crimson t-shirt, and Gail Kim makes a statement

Someone asked if we'll ever see Sin Cara vs. Alberto Del Rio. If Cara doesn't have any more run-ins with the Wellness Policy or anything of the sort, I'd have to think that one will go down at some point.

As for PWInsider.com's questions of the day:
1. I can see why WWE doesn't want to mention him. Since the DVDs aren't about him, they can just cover those things without directly naming him, like "Randy Orton won his first World Title at Summerslam 2004" and show him holding the title without Benoit in the shot. He can still talk about how big of a night it was and that it was a big accomplishment, etc.. I know that on one level it sucks that we can't see some of Benoit's matches and all (I was a huge fan of Benoit's in-ring work), but that topic's understandably really touchy with WWE. Not to mention that there are some people who just can't go back and watch things with him in it without thinking of the incidents, so they try not to stir that hornet nest.

2. Pretty much what they said. They've just been involved in other feuds. As for who's the bigger draw between Rock and Taker, I'm going for the guy who fans have wanted to see return to the ring for 7 years, and the one who's been in a number of big box office draws in that time frame. He's also the one with more history with Cena.

After the break, I compare the current C.M. Punk angle to big angles of the past, and look at the rest of the day's news and questions.

Wednesday, August 3, 2011

Queries on Sin Cara/Brian Christopher and Joey Mercury, Morrison talks injury and Mania, Diva to undergo surgery, Tara puts MMA aspirations on hold, Sheamus on Conan, new Jeff Hardy DVD, more TNA-Direct appearances, Questions on Punk's return, praise for Zack Ryder, Miz vs. Mysterio, bland faces, and the influence of the old ECW, Terry Taylor interview, ROH/Former WWE announcer talks Punk, Foley thankful for Raw mention, Lawler T-shirt, update on Raw announce team, Helms interview, Hoosiers coach at Raw, MMA star talks possible WWE appearance, Raw rating, Colt Cabana works Smackdown dark match, Australian ratings, and Tough Enough's Jeremiah shoots

Today starts off with some queries sent to the blog:
1. No, Sin Cara isn't Too Cool's Brian Christopher. I have no idea how that one got started. Sin Cara is legitimately a Mexican wrestler, formerly known as Mistico.

2. Joey Mercury is now a trainer in FCW, so if WWE wanted him to return to one of the main shows, they could do so. A feud with Morrison would be a natural fit if they decided to go that route, but I haven't heard anything about him being put back on the main roster.

Speaking of John Morrison, he was interviewed recently about his recovery from his arm injury and WrestleMania 27. I hope he and WWE made the right decision about him returning to the ring when he's not yet 100%. I think that the Mania match could have used more of Morrison and Ziggler, but the draw was Snooki and Trish, so they were kind of between a rock and a hard place. There was also the perceived disrespect from Morrison backstage before the match that likely played into it.

Maryse will soon be undergoing surgery related to a hernia. She said on Twitter that she won't be getting physical for a while, but it's possible that she'll be able to stay on as host of NXT. Depending on how long she'll miss ring-time wise, and how long the season continues, we might not see her face AJ after all.

After the break, I go into all of the rest of the day's news and questions, starting with an update on Tara's MMA inspirations.

NXT thoughts- 8/2/11

Tonight, on NXT, there will be some recaps of Raw and promos for Summerslam. There'll also be some in-ring action, and maybe some competitions for redemption points. By 11:00 p.m., we'll be one week closer to figuring out who's moving on to Season 6. Will it be Darren Young, Titus O'Neil, or Derrick Bateman? Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

Tuesday, August 2, 2011

Queries on The Undertaker and NXT, WWE protecting Maryse, Questions on Cena as champion, Punk's return, and HHH at Mania, DUI charges dropped against ex-WWE name, September PPV posters, Edge on SyFy show update, WWE partners with 7-Eleven again, TNA makes first-ever Mexican America T-shirt, Miz with Sirius/XM, wrestling makes Cracked.com list, Living Colour responds to Punk, Kaitlyn appearance, Abdullah responds to lawsuit, Punk does local weather, Smackdown rating, Raw's dark match, and Jericho responds to Punk

A few queries sent in to the blog recently:
1. There's no known update on when The Undertaker will return to the ring. There was talk that we'd be seeing him before Mania, possibly at Summerslam, but that was a decent while ago so I wouldn't expect him to show up there. There's not much in the way of clues here, unfortunately.

Update: Apparently his shoulder's still in pretty bad shape (at least compared to where it would need to be for him to return and wrestle at the level he usually does), so things are really up in the air as far as when we'll see him next.

2. No one seems to know how much longer is left on this season of NXT, even the people who are on it! I know that two FCW wrestlers worked dark matches last week, so they MIGHT be getting ready to wrap it up soon and use them in the next season. No guarantees, though.

WWE is increasing security as a result of Maryse's recent restraining order situation. I can't blame them for that!

On to PWInsider.com's Monday questions:
1. Things are definitely fresher and more interesting when Cena isn't champion. He'd held it plenty of times, so it does feel repetitive seeing him with the title.

After the break, I go into the return of C.M. Punk and the rest of the day's questions and news.

Raw thoughts- 8/1/11

WWE Champion John Cena and umm... WWE Champion (?) C.M. Punk met last week in the ring for the first time since the latter left the company at Money In The Bank. WWE COO Triple H will make a ruling on the situation tonight on Raw. Also, we'll declare a new #1 Contender to the Divas' Championship in a battle royal. All this and plenty more on Raw. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

Query on The Rock, Questions on Muhammad Hassan, the HHH-Vince angle, worst potential match ever, Chavo's rants, and Punk vs. Rock, Orton DVD trailer, former DX member signs with LLUSA, and the lead singer of the Smashing Pumpkins to start indy promotion

This is a pretty slow news day. Not much to get into. First up, though, is a question about why The Rock doesn't wrestle anymore. He had done just about everything there was to do in WWE, and got some pretty lucrative offers in Hollywood, so he decided to take that route. I don't really know much beyond that. As for why he isn't wrestling in his comeback (until WrestleMania that is), he's got a good deal on his plate already with filming, and an in-ring return that big being saved for Mania (in Rock's hometown) makes a lot of sense for the company financially.

After the break, I go into all of the day's news and PWInsider.com questions, starting with an evaluation of the controversial Muhammad Hassan character.
