Questions on Laurinaitis, Steiner/Bischoff, Cena/Punk, introducing champs last, and rain at Mania, Interviews with Bryan/Jericho/Stephanie, big heat on Flair, reactions to Laurinaitis and Lilian from Over The Limit, Tensai update, and the 5/18 Smackdown rating

For my take on the 5/21 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I've heard the theory that he was injured in Japan, but never any concrete reports that that's what changed his voice. I'm erring on the side of "it's a work" here.

2. It's possible, but there's nothing to suggest that it is. Steiner's legitimately gone from TNA, for one.

3. If they were on Smackdown, too, they would dominate the show like they do on Raw and not as many Smackdown people would get over.

4. It's not high on my list of complaints about wrestling, let's put it that way.

5. I think a lot of fans there would have been fine with watching the show in the rain, similar to fans in the Northeast at football games. Not that they shouldn't have had a back-up plan. What about people coming down the ramp and commentators also caught in it?

After the break, I hit everything else from 5/21.

Raw Reax - 5/21/12

Read on for my thoughts on the 5/21 Raw!

Sin Cara returns to action, Aries update, Questions on Hogan/Cena, Tensai, TNA sacking ROH, moving a PPV to the UK, and Big Show, original plan for See No Evil, Interviews with Bryan/HHH/Bellas, and more on King Mo

Sin Cara returned on the 5/19 Raw live event, beating Hunico. I wish they'd feud again, since Hunico's pretty darned good and hasn't been doing much significant since the feud ended.

In a correction to a previous story, Austin Aries has only signed a one-year deal with TNA. That might be smart on his part given how hot and cold TNA is with its performers. If WWE's smart, they'll try to pick him up when that year's up.

For my take on the 5/20 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I agree that WWE puts too many eggs in the Cena basket when they have a very talented roster they could pull from. They try from time to time to put others at close to his level (Punk, Orton, and Sheamus currently) but ultimately Cena's the focus of the show when it's clear that at least a sizable part of the audience wants something new. That said, he's still selling T-shirts to kids so they'll keep him doing the same stuff until that changes.

2. Apparently they wanted another big "international" monster like they had with Umaga and (originally) Khali.

After the break, I go into everything else from 5/20.

WWE Over The Limit Reax

Questions on indies, Cole, Daffney vs. TNA, Frenchy Martin, and Dino Bravo, NXT updates, Interview with Bryan, Jericho update and a TNA Champion re-ups

For my take on the 5/19 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I think they covered the main contenders for the #4 spot. It's really tough to say who is there, since you'd have to compare iPPV sales to DVDs and so on.

2. Didn't that happen when she was in a neck brace from being run over by Big Show? The crowd responded pretty well. Booker T. tells Cole to shut up on commentary quite frequently.

3. I also haven't heard anything. They have things pretty much covered as far as that story goes.

There's nothing to add to 4 or 5.

The NXT tapings done in Florida will begin Season 6 of the show. More here. I hope it makes it back on TV. The sooner we get some fresh faces made into stars, the better.

After the break, I go into everything else from 5/19.

Saturday, May 26, 2012

Gunner signs back with TNA, Questions on Batista, WWE paying for rehab, Lacey Von Erich, Angelina Love, and Mil Mascaras, Interviews with Jericho/King Mo/Ricky Ortiz, another name at new NXT taping, Z! TLIS #67, and the 5/17 Impact rating

Gunner has signed a three-year deal with TNA. He's someone they're clearly behind. Hopefully he really grows as a performer over that time and becomes someone the company can build on.

For my take on the 5/18 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I can see it. It would just have to be on terms he liked in a non-PG-oriented company.

2. There's not much to add to their answer. Every time a wrestler dies young of drug use, WWE gets blamed. They figure they'd rather spend the money to try to keep stars on the up-and-up than getting intense backlash and regulation for deaths.

3. Nothing to add here either. She doesn't do anything wrestling related these days to my knowledge.

4. Wrestling pushes go in cycles sometimes. They might just not have anything for her right now as they focus on Gail Kim's title reign.

After the break, I hit everything else from 5/18.

Smackdown Reax - 5/18/12

Read on for my thoughts on the 5/18 Smackdown.

Waltman shoots on TNA, Questions on following the business online, lying indies, TNA branching out, JBL and tattoos, Angle and Bryan talk, TNA release, Gut Check update, more on King Mo, Raw going to 3 hours, Impact going live all summer, and both WWE and TNA sign legends' daughters

Sean Waltman took some shots at Dixie Carter and TNA on Twitter. Here are the quotes and some backstory.

For my take on the 5/17 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I know that Kevin Nash, Sean Waltman, and Bully Ray have all sent in press releases and news there (with their names attached), so there are three more names for you.

2. Some promoters do that kind of thing to "work" the audience like a crooked carnival worker with a fixed game. This is why it's hard for good indies to build up a name with wrestlers and fans alike.

3. Sometimes success in business is more about a good run of base hits than a home run here and there. That said, I think they could do a better job marketing themselves and pushing the product. That kind of thing only goes so far when you can't get people to keep tuning in, though.

After the break, I hit everything else from 5/17.

Superstars and Impact Wrestling Reax - 5/17/12

Read on for my thoughts on the 5/17 Superstars and Impact.

Questions on Cena vs. Laurinaitis, Ryback, Titan Towers, Japan, and Benoit, latest on Steiner's Twitter rants, HBK interview and a Mysterio update

For my take on the 5/16 PWInsider.com questions:
1. With no foreknowledge of how the match actually went down, I'd guess typical authority figure vs. wrestler match with some kind of gimmickry involved. Having someone who hasn't wrestled regularly in over a decade (and as seen as a guy in a suit instead of a wrestler) compete on the same level as the top star wouldn't be wise.

2. I was fine with it since it was brief and continued the story of Ryback dominating unknowns. Ryback beating up (semi-)retired wrestlers wouldn't have had the same effect since the audience would likely feel sympathy for the Legends giving it one more go. The attention should have been all on the guy they're trying to make big, not the people appearing one-time only.

3. I know they've shown parts of it on TV before and former members of Creative talk about it. There are a lot of memorabilia and photos there, but at the end of the day it is a place to work.

4. No idea. I just focus on WWE and TNA and the occasional indie report.

After the break, I go into everything else from 5/16!

NXT Reax - 5/16/12

Read on for my thoughts on the 5/16 NXT!

5/14 Raw dark match, Questions on a best of Rock vs. Cena, no blood on DVDs, Nash getting upset, Mark Madden, and merchandise, and a Henry update

Dean Ambrose beat Zack Ryder ahead of the 5/14 Raw.

For my take on the 5/15 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I think Rock in his prime could best Cena in his prime, but could we get Rock in his prime on a PG show?  That could be the nostalgia goggles talking for me, though.

2. As they said, it's a by-product of the current, more "squeaky-clean" WWE. It's sports entertainment with dancing and catch phrases more than in-ring wars, unfortunately.

3. I never knew Goldust and Nash were friends, but that would certainly make sense given the timing.

4. I haven't really seen enough of his work or the column in question so I can't really say anything.

After the break, I go into everything else from 5/15.

Sacrifice injury updates, names not at Sacrifice, Questions on Brock vs. Taker, ROH cashing in, toning down Cole, writers getting released, and announcers knowing outcomes, Edge and Lawler interviews, 5/11 Smackdown rating, post-5/14 Raw dark matches, and Mark Henry undergoing surgery

Rob Van Dam and Austin Aries were medically cleared after Sacrifice after some scary-looking bumps leading to cuts and bruises. Both are lucky in that regard.

Dixie Carter, Eric Bischoff, Hulk Hogan, and Ric Flair were absent from TNA Sacrifice, which might have been why it turned out mostly well.

For my take on the 5/14 PWInsider.com questions:
1. They had a smart answer here. They can do big business with Brock facing Rock or Taker. It's just a matter of which part-timer they want to use where and where everyone's going in the future. People definitely still fantasy-book Brock/Taker based on their UFC confrontation.

2. Of course they are and I agree that it's smart business. WWE keeps alluding to their indie past, and ROH has a lot of footage of that. TNA did the same thing with the few Punk matches they had. Maybe they should do something on the former Claudio Castagnoli as well since he's made his WWE debut (or should they wait for Kassius Ohno to pop up?).

3. It's a little of both. I'm also glad that they toned it down as the arguing on Smackdown is a pain to listen to.

After the break, I hit everything else from 5/14.

Raw Reax - 5/14/12

Read on for my thoughts on the 5/14 Raw!

Questions on Lesnar opponents and allies, WWE/TNA booking, and who runs TNA, and another Ambrose dark match

For my take on the 5/13 PWInsider.com questions:
1. Yes. At Summerslam.

2. That is their track record. They stayed away from some of that at Sacrifice, but there was still some frustration at some of what went down. It's TNA, so there's going to be some expectation of failure.

3. Laurinaitis brought in Lesnar to crush Cena and be the new face of WWE. Lesnar and Cena had issues and now there are issues with the guy who signed Lesnar.

After the break, I hit everything else from 5/13.

TNA Sacrifice Reax

Read on for my thoughts on TNA's Sacrifice PPV!

Ambrose works Raw house show and questions on Tessmacher, OVW, the Bellas, Knockouts marketing and Cena

FCW stand-out Dean Ambrose lost to Zack Ryder on a 5/11 Raw house show by DQ after whipping him into an exposed turnbuckle. He's being talked about as a once-in-a-lifetime talent.

For my take on the 5/12 PWInsider.com questions:
1. She's definitely progressing and is quickly becoming one of the Knockouts to watch in the division. She stands out in what she does and is one of few TNA competitors I look forward to seeing compete. (Sorry, TNA).

2. Probably several more! As far as I know, they plan to continue doing Gut Checks and OVW is a prime place to use talent to showcase in that.

3. I don't see them jumping ship like that. As far as I know, them leaving WWE was amicable and I would think the door could be open for them to come back. Why risk that for TNA?

Everything else from 5/12 after the break!

Robbie E interview, Questions on HHH/Mayweather, Natalya, tag teams, Flair, and TNA PPVs, drastic changes to NXT, Rhodes interview, 5/10 Impact rating

Robbie E was interviewed to promote a TNA live event.

My take on the 5/11 PWInsider.com questions:
1. Basically that. Triple H is in with the right people (and has been for years), whereas Punk's a rebel.

2. This same question could be asked and (answered the same) about a number of talents. Someone's going to be on a losing streak. It's how WWE (and sports in general) work. Some teams go from being champions to terrible records within a few seasons. I agree that Natalya is very talented though.

3. It depends on the tag team. The ends justify the means for me. If we get Edge and Christian as successful singles guys, it's good. When WWE broke up the Dudley Boys (pre-TNA), it didn't work out so well.

4. And I still think it raised TNA's profile to have one of "their guys" on a heavily-watched broadcast. It's like Samoa Joe being mentioned in Foley's book years back: WWE put a TNA guy over! For free!

There's nothing to add to 5, but I'd add Slammiversary to 6. Other than that, BFG and Lockdown are the only big annual PPVs in my eyes.

After the break, I hit everything else from 5/11!

Smackdown Reax - 5/11/12

On the 5/11 Smackdown, the road to Over The Limit got further along. Read on for my reaction to the show, segment by segment.

Blog update

Due to my computer breaking last week and the incident that required me to be hospitalized last month, I am now quite a bit behind in posting. To make up for lost time, I am going to change my style of posting from rambling to something a little more to-the-point (and quicker, and easier to read): At the end of each show, I'll give some thoughts on each segment that I felt was worthy of comment, in a more easy-to-follow paragraph form. I do plan on catching up on everything, just in this new style instead of the older, more confusing layout. News posts will remain the same for now. The first post on the new style will be the 5/11 Smackdown. Thankd for reading and I apologize profusely for the lateness.

Superstars and Impact Wrestling thoughts - 5/10/12

On the 5/10 edition of WWE Superstars, NXT's new security team is in action. And on Impact Wrestling, AJ Styles' secret is revealed. Read on for my thoughts on the shows as they happened.

Questions on fan complaints, replaying videos, Divas fantasy booking, more Sheamus/Bryan frustration, and question terminology, Hogan responds to Steiner, Punk on ESPN, and a Lawler interview

For my take on the 5/9 PWInsider.com questions:
1. While I do think there is quite a lot of complaining in questions sent in, I don't think they should just "accept" when things aren't good. Some things won't be what some fans are into and that comes with the territory, but when things are really awful and affect business in a negative way, complaining is kind of justified in my book.

2. Supposedly there are a lot of people who only watch Raw or Smackdown instead of both, so we get tons of video packages of the same thing. It's even worse when they show them on NXT and Superstars, too.

3. That's not a bad idea, if a little derivative of the Punk angle. I don't know how successful it would be or if the Bellas would come back with the title like Punk did, but it's more interesting than most Divas angles.

After the break, I hit the rest of the news from 5/9. Next up, another look at the 18 second Mania match.

NXT thoughts - 5/9/12

On the 5/9 NXT, the mysteries continue with an attacker running amok. Plus, the young stars of WWE are in action. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happened.

Questions on attacking management, Japanese wrestlers, squash matches, WWE/UFC crossover, and pushing Tensai, more on Heyman in WWE, Miz Q&A, Lawler interview, 5/7 Raw rating, 5/8 Smackdown taping dark match, and a note on Bound For Glory 2012

For my take on the 5/8 PWInsider.com questions:
1. They always explained that management would be out to  get revenge somehow. Like HHH setting out to beat Orton for instance.

2. Tensai's not supposed to be Japanese. Just someone who went to Japan and picked up tools of the trade there. Otherwise, I agree with them. They have a tendency to lump Japanese wrestlers together (kind of like they do with Samoans) and push them like "Japanese wrestler #5" instead of getting behind a talent for something other than their ethnicity.

3. What they said. I'm more than ok with building people up with squash matches against people not on the main roster.

After the break, I hit everything else from 5/8. Next, would a WWE/UFC crossover work?

Monday, May 14, 2012

Questions on down time, killing WCW, Steiner's Twitter, IWC complaints, and the Divas' Title, 5/4 Smackdown rating, 5/7 Raw dark match, and what happened after the 5/7 Raw

For my take on the 5/7 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I can't agree much more. Some talents could definitely benefit from that kind of thing. Using people more smartly and building enough talents up that they can comfortably do something like that would also be a great part of the process.

2. Very educational answer. I remember more about dial-up than wrestling news in 2001.

3. It's something to check out alright. Twitter.com/ScottSteiner!

After the break, I hit everything else from 5/7. Next up, what if the top companies listened to internet complaints?

Raw thoughts - 5/7/12

On the 5/7 Raw we get the fallout from Brock Lesnar attacking Triple H, and continue the road to C.M. Punk vs. Daniel Bryan for Over The Limit. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happened!

Another FCW name at live events, Questions on using Brock, Jericho turning face, marketing Benoit, turning Bryan face, squashers, HHH breaking kayfabe, and Christian post-TNA, Legends interviews, and a WWE producer released

Former FCW Champion Bo Rotundo defeated Drew McIntyre on the 5/5 Smackdown live event. I'd guess he might end up on NXT soon.

There was some kind of mix-up with the 5/6 PWInsider.com questions and some got answered twice. I'll do this link then continue numbers with this link, using duplicates together:
1. If WWE gets a big boost in business from using Brock then I think it's worth it to put up with his outbursts. For now. If things slip business-wise, I'll reconsider. They made good points in their answers.

2. Not much to add here. Jericho could do pretty much anything he wanted to and be good by me and a lot of fans. He's earned the right to choose how he wants to be portrayed.

3. Tyson didn't kill his wife and son, and has put his negative actions in the past. So, the analogy doesn't really fit. I go with their answer here.

After the break, I hit everything else from 5/6. Next up, a question on turning Daniel Bryan face.

Sunday, May 13, 2012

Foley interview, Questions on Brock vs. Orton, the Killer Bees, JR, and Angle-WWE, and a former Nexus member works live events

Mick Foley was interviewed again. Interesting idea for Lesnar/Cena.

For my take on the 5/5 PWInsider.com questions:
Nothing to add to 1. They got it pretty well covered.

2. I've also heard that conspiracy theory, since some think there's no way they could have done that bad of a job with Orton. I guess the theory with Orton's surprise title win and the beatdown the night after was to build sympathy for him. That angle went down so poorly that people still talk about someone being "Ortoned" when a similar situation arises.

3. Other than Brian Blair appearing at a roast of Iron Sheik, I haven't heard anything about either in quite some time.

After the break, I go into everything else from 5/5. Next up, why WWE doesn't use JR on commentary.

Christian interview, more on Cena vs. Laurinaitis, update on Gut Check, Questions on NXT, the WWE World Title, Cena taking the mic at Extreme Rules, pushing Garett, and WWE being PG, Z! TLIS #65, and the 5/3 Impact rating

Christian talked ahead of a live event.

For those asking if someone's going to replace John Laurinaitis at Over The Limit, that's not the plan as of 5/4.

Alex Silva was chosen for Gut Check by Al Snow. OVW will continue to be a part of the talent pool for that concept. Other new concepts could also hit Impact, which I'm glad to hear.

For my take on the 5/4 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I'm glad to hear that someone else likes NXT. It looks like we're in for some new "Rookies" shortly. No word on who just yet, but I would think that recent dark matches might give some hints.

2. If it was supposed to be the WCW Title, why wouldn't they call it the WCW Title? The belt was supposed to evoke the old WCW Title, not be it.

After the break, I go into everything else from 5/4. Next, a question on Cena at Extreme Rules.

Smackdown thoughts - 5/4/12

Following Extreme Rules, Sheamus retained the World Title and Randy Orton defeated Kane. How will things build towards Over The Limit? Read on for my thoughts on the 5/4 Smackdown as it happened.

Warrior interview, Questions on Abyss, Lesnar blowing up, Morrison/TNA, Lesnar losing, and blurring footage, Jesse Neal talks, Bellas discuss leaving WWE, WWE freshening up roster, why ex-Nexus member is at live events, and a Foley interview

MLW.com has part of an Ultimate Warrior interview up.

For my take on the 5/3 PWInsider.com questions:
Nothing to add to 1, other than I also did a double-take when seeing Abyss' "brother" for the first time. I don't read spoilers, so I was a little perplexed.

2. I made the same mistake as the questioner in assuming Cena went off-script. Apparently it was just another one of management's last-minute changes.

3. That's a shame to hear. Why get fans' hopes up? I've at least seen that Masters was interested in working for them at some point.

4. Ouch. Talk about a knee-jerk reaction. I thought it was a good way to set up a rematch, since there's unfinished business due to Cena winning but being dominated.

Nothing to add to 5, so after the break I go into everything else from 5/3. Next up, a Jesse Neal interview.

Superstars and Impact Wrestling thoughts- 5/3/12

On the 5/3 edition of Superstars, the young talents of WWE show their stuff. On the 5/3 edition of Impact Wrestling, we get all the fall-out from Open Fight Night including the fate of Alex Silva, plus build to Roode vs. RVD at Sacrifice. Read on for my thoughts on the shows as they happened!

Thursday, May 10, 2012

Questions on Taker vs. Tensai, Ambrose vs. Foley, AJ, Brock vs. Rock, and ODB/Young, why Miz nabbed WWE Films role, and some live event press releases with Natalya and Mark Henry

For my take on the 5/2 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I don't know if I'd be ok with another 10 months of big Tensai being undefeated. It'd be a fresh face in the Mania scene, but I'm kind of split on what it would take to get there.

2. It's something different and I like that they're branching out. Of course, what they do with him when this makes it to TV is going to be what makes or breaks it. If we have to see Foley wrestle, hopefully it's with someone who can be a top-tier player.

3. I'm a flat-out mark for AJ and think she can be a big storyline player if they play their cards right. I wish we would have gotten more of an Edge/Lita thing with Bryan and her staying together for a while, but now that they're apart I think they could have someone come to her aid against Bryan. The main downside to that idea is that an increasing part of the audience wants Bryan to turn face (but keep the act he has now). They've got a talented worker in her for sure. As for their answer, what about Lita and Trish?

After the break, I go into everything else from 5/2. Next up, are we in for Brock vs. Rock at WM28?

NXT thoughts - 5/2/12

The new talent initiative continues on NXT as the stars of tomorrow cut their teeth. William Regal presents another episode of the show on 5/2. Read on for my thoughts on it as it happened.

Lesnar ticked, when Sin Cara will return, Slammiversary poster, Questions on Tensai beating Cena, celebs getting tickets, pushes, Open Fight Night, and Taker, Mysterio update, Jericho's WWE summer vacation, new TNA hire profiled, former TNA Tag Team Champion released, and a Cody Rhodes interview

Brock Lesnar was reportedly irate following Extreme Rules, as the original plan was for Cena to be carried out instead of cutting a promo. Lesnar perceived the promo as Cena double-crossing him and lost it on some WWE officials, even going so far as to attempt to rip apart a dressing room. Wow.

Sin Cara is scheduled to return to the ring for the next tour of Mexico. Glad to hear it.

Here's the poster for TNA Slammiversary.

For my take on the 5/1 PWInsider.com questions:
1. Good point. It could have. It also continued the story of Cena losing from Mania, so it can go both ways.

Nothing to add to 2, so I'll move on after the break to everything else from 5/1. Next, a question on midcarders moving up.

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Questions on Striker's kidnapping, Tough Enough, Bischoff, retiring titles, and Lesnar beating TNA stars, Hogan talks, Bret/Walk of Fame update, Dixie Carter interview, 4/27 Smackdown rating, 4/30 Raw dark match and what happened after the 4/30 Raw

For my take on the 4/30 PWInsider.com questions:
1. They made a couple of tongue-in-cheek references to it being a different guy, but yeah, they left a BIG logic hole with that one.

2. Not much to add to what they said. Tough Enough felt like more of a reality show than who would be the most successful wrestler given who they cast (over Austin Aries for one).

3. He should get some credit for adapting those ideas to his company and so on. They covered most if not all of his accomplishments.

4. I'm fine with them keeping all the current males singles belts.

5. I saw it pointed out. Pretty funny.

After the break, I go into everything else from 4/30. Next up, a Hogan interview.

Raw thoughts - 4/30/12

It's the Raw after Extreme Rules. Lesnar mowed down Cena in a bloody massacre, but still lost the match. Punk kept the WWE Title after an absolute hardcore war with Chris Jericho. Where does WWE go from here? Read on for my thoughts on the 4/30 Raw as it happened.

Questions on saving TNA, the 18-second World Title match, Brock being back, faces winning big, and the WWEF, and more from Punk

For my take on the 4/29 PWInsider.com questions:
1. It certainly isn't Jim Cornette. The people running Ring Ka King are probably going to be stuck doing that kind of thing, so for now at least it isn't them. I don't know how well the people mentioned would work with the McMahons, and as they mentioned JR and Heyman (in addition to Gabe Sapolsky) have tried to make it there and change things to no avail. Foley lobbied for change when he was there and he also didn't get far. So, it seems that for now at least they're at an impasse since they keep relying on who made things work for WCW and WWE in years past instead of who can do something for TNA in 2012.

2. On the other hand, Sheamus got a ton of momentum and was portrayed as so good that he could win in 18 seconds. He also probably made a good deal of money, so only being on the show for a brief time isn't the end of the world.

3. To add to their answer, it beats Cena being champion and top guy again or a long-term feud with Tensai. He needs some new opponents.

After the break, I go into everything else from 4/29. Next up, a question on Roode winning at Lockdown.

WWE Extreme Rules thoughts

Extreme Rules is here. Former WWE and UFC Champion Brock Lesnar returns to face John Cena, C.M. Punk collides with Chris Jericho in a Chicago Street Fight for the WWE Championship, Sheamus goes 2-out of-3 falls with Daniel Bryan for the World Title, and every other match on the card has a special stipulation. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happened.

Questions on TNA's timeslot change and more, Glacier and Dixie Carter interviews,

The news for 4/28 begins with my take on PWInsider.com's questions. They're all straight-forward with no real opinion component to them, so I'll just point back to their answers as there really isn't anything to add.

The former Glacier talked about the recent accident Buff Bagwell went through.

Here are some brief highlights from a Dixie Carter interview. I'll be interested to see what happens in regards to letting Flair appear in WWE. As for PPV buyrates, they're not a matter of public record.

Kurt Angle missed TNA house shows due to filming a movie.

That's all for the 4/28 news. Yes, really! Saturdays can be slow sometimes. 4/29's is up next. In the interest of time, there won't be a PPV "preview" for Extreme Rules. Thanks for reading!

Nash doesn't want to go in HoF, more support for Hart in Walk of Fame, Cena talks wishes, Questions on the last person to beat Taker and ECW originals not on Extreme Reunion, new WWE signing, update on FCW signing, No Way Out poster, Z! TLIS #64, Impact changes timeslots, Bryan interviews, 4/26 Impact rating, and who Goldberg would want to face

Kevin Nash tweeted that he doesn't want to be in the WWE Hall of Fame after the company released one of his friends. No clue as of 4/27 as to who he means. They loved him enough to use him in 2011 when his freshness date had long passed, so I don't see what he's getting at. He got a pretty big chunk of TV time for a part-timer.

4-traders.com looked at the movement to get Bret Hart on Canada's Walk of Fame.

John Cena talked about his work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

For my take on the 4/27 edition of PWInsider.com's questions:
1. Yes, it seems his last loss was the Buried Alive match at Bragging Rights 2010. Any time I have a question about match history, I go to cagematch.de. It's in German, but "Suche" is Search. It has dark matches, live events, indies, developmental, you name it.

There's nothing to add to 2,3, or 4 other than if promotions paid for travel and such, some feel that would bias the reporting. After the break, I go into everything else from 4/27. Next up, why some talents aren't on Extreme Reunion.

Smackdown thoughts - 4/27/12

For the 4/27 Smackdown, it's only a few days until Extreme Rules. Sheamus has to take on the World's Strongest Man before his 2 out of 3 falls title defense against Daniel Bryan, Big Show takes on Alberto Del Rio before putting his title up against Cody Rhodes, and Randy Orton is interviewed before his match with Kane. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happened.

Saturday, May 5, 2012

Another WWE clip on The Soup, Carlito/MVP talk WWE, Dixie Carter and Tara interviews, more press for Angle, Bearer talks Raw, Questions on disrespecting wrestling, Taker the locker room leader, pushing non-wrestlers, and Maria, Mysterio suspended and FCW expands

Theodore Long referring to John Cena as a 2-time WWE Champion and a 10-time WWE Champion from the 4/23 Raw made it onto The Soup.

Former WWE superstars Carlito and MVP discussed the former's time with the company in-depth. Quite the listen. Part 1 Part 2

Dixie Carter talked to the Miami Herald about the new deal with Spike, Ring Ka King, and more. Good read from someone you don't see interviewed often.

Tara was also interviewed ahead of a live event in her hometown.

Kurt Angle's failed Olympics quest was mentioned in Sports Illustrated.

Paul Bearer talked about his surprise Raw appearance from 4/23. Undertaker must have gotten the "return from the dead" thing from his side of the family.

After the break, I go into the rest of the news from 4/26, starting with PWInsider.com's questions. First up, why doesn't the mainstream media cover wrestling?

Superstars and Impact Wrestling thoughts - 4/26/12

The 4/26 Superstars features the renewal of a rivalry as The Miz faces off once more with Alex Riley. Then, on the 4/26 Impact Wrestling, it's Open Fight Night. Who will answer the challenges thrown down? The TV Title will be on the line, and Gut Check hits Spike TV. Plus, Ric Flair remembers the career of Eric Bischoff. Read on for my thoughts on the shows as they happened.

Teddy Hart interview, Questions on UFC being covered, one last Goldberg match, and the Hall of Fame, Maxine interview, Miami Herald looks at new Smackdown star, Ziggler interviewed and Destroyer profiled

Teddy Hart was interviewed. I've heard he has some "out-there" ideas for matches.

For my take on PWInsider.com's 4/25 questions:
1. MMA's not my thing either, so I won't cover it even if it involves a former wrestler. When it involves wrestling (like Brock getting the ok to work WWE), I talk about it.

Nothing to say about 2. As for 3, money would be a big factor. If WWE and TNA haven't brought him in by now, I don't see why they'd change their minds unless something really big happened with him that got a lot of attention like what happened with Rock and Lesnar.

Nothing to add to 4 either. For 5, Sammartino tops the list as far as wrestlers go. Also some people in the TV side of things like Bonnie Hammer and Ted Turner. They have definitely made impacts on the business in a big way.

After the break, I go into everything else from 4/25. Next up, a piece on NXT's Maxine.

NXT thoughts - 4/25/12

It's the dawning of a new era on NXT as Curt Hawkins, Tyler Reks, Darren Young, and Titus O'Neil have all left the show. Who will step up in their absence? William Regal and Matt Striker present the 4/25 NXT. Read on for my thoughts of it as it happened.

Phoenix update, Credible interview, Questions on custom DVDs, witnessing wrestling history live, stop-start pushes, booking Cena, and Dixie losing TNA, Austin comments on Leavine release, New Jack interview, new FCW signing, WWE live event moved, why Edge made a cameo on the 4/23 Raw, Phoenix update, Raw rating and the 4/24 taping dark match

WWE says that Beth Phoenix has a severe sprain to her left ankle as a result of her match with Nikki Bella. It was initially feared to be broken. More on this as it comes out.

Justin Credible was interviewed about working with ECW and how the business has changed.

For my take on the 4/24 PWInsider.com questions:
1. Maybe. It's not a bad idea, but I don't know how much demand there is for it. I like the iTunes idea, though. Maybe they should do something like that for PPVs, so we could buy individual matches. Just an idea.

2. That certainly sounds like something awesome to witness. I haven't been quite that lucky yet.

3. I can't do much but point at their answer here. It's rare that someone can stay over without the company getting (staying) behind them. Getting over on your own can only take you so far.

After the break, I go into everything else from 4/24. Next up, looking at the booking of Rock/Cena.

Haskins talks WWE, NY Times corrects Angle error, Dana White talks Brock-WWE, Questions on WWE releases, new debuts, heat on Rock, going viral, and Jericho smashing Punk, concern over WWE relases, Gabriel renews visa, James Storm update, Tough Enough winner released, Jimmy Hart, Martel, and Okerlund interviews, 4/20 Smackdown rating, 4/23 dark match, and what happened after the 4/23 Raw

Dennis Haskins, best known as Mr. Belding from "Saved by the Bell", talked about WWE topics.

The New York Times issued a correction on referring to Kurt Angle as a WWE wrestler.

Dana White talked about Brock Lesnar returning to WWE.

For my take on the 4/23 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I don't see why not, since it's practically a ritual now. It just might not be in Spring this year.

2. I do think they should pace themselves with returns/debuts so fans can soak the characters in individually, even though I'm personally ready for some new faces getting pushed.

3. It'd be tough to argue with their answer here.

After the break, I go into everything else from 4/23, starting with a question on capitalizing on buzz.

Raw thoughts - 4/23/12

It's a three-hour Raw going into Extreme Rules on 4/29. There's an official contract signing for John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar, and WWE also continues the road to Chris Jericho vs. WWE Champion C.M. Punk. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happened.

WWE Legends, "fired" superstars, and an NXT member on tour, Questions on Vince in the Hall of Fame, releasing The Miz, Tensai/Albert, lolTNA, and rebooking Punk/Jericho, frustration in TNA, ECW flashback, DiBiase charity work, Sheamus profiled, and a Heyman rumorbuster

Booker T. is being advertised for a May tour of Brazil with the Raw brand, while Mick Foley is advertised for a May tour of Mexico with Smackdown. I hope their use brings in ticket sales and works in favor of the current crew.

Speaking of tours, Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks continued work on the Smackdown tour in Europe over the weekend of 4/20 despite being "fired" on NXT. Percy Watson also worked there.

For my take on the 4/22 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I would think that if he wanted to go in before he dies, he'd have put himself in already. He's certainly had plenty of chances to do so!

2. While I disagree that he's having horrible performances, he's certainly on WWE's bad list. His girlfriend Maryse has made comments about her release being WWE's loss, and that hasn't done him any favors either. That said, he did get the pin at Mania this year.

After the break, I go into everything else from 4/22. Next up, a question on Lord Tensai.

Questions on Angle turning face, Universal Studios, the Olympics, and Divas, Hogan wants TNA live, TNA house show profiled, and a "squash" match gets someone noticed

Not much news on tap for 4/21, but it starts with my take on PWInsider.com's questions:
1. Characters change over time. I'll judge Angle's face turn on what I see the character do from here. If it works, it's the right idea. If not, it isn't. TNA has been inconsistent with a lot of characters, though.

2. This isn't quite the same thing, but I do know that there are certain regulations they have to follow there that they wouldn't elsewhere. They can't do anything with fire, for instance, and I'm fairly sure they can't charge for tickets.

Nothing to add to 3, but for 4. Not very good. As they alluded to, he's taken a lot of bumps in his decade-plus of wrestling and that would have ultimately really played against him.

Not much to add to 5 either. They just have other priorities, as they generally do. When they think they can draw ratings and money with the Divas somehow, they'll use them more. If fans want to see more Divas, they should buy more Diva merch and tune in for more Diva matches, etc..

After the break, I go into everything else from 4/21, starting with what Hulk Hogan thinks would improve TNA.

Austin interview, Questions on World Titles, future endeavoring, kayfabe shirts, haircuts, and Francine, another Lockdown-theaters update, why Del Rio was moved, Ryan profiled, Stooge demeans Raw experience, more on Edge-WWE, 4/19 Impact rating, and Z! TLIS #63

Stone Cold Steve Austin was interviewed by the UK Sun. No way would Mania have "failed" without HHH vs. Taker. They had Punk vs. Jericho and Cena vs. Rock. I do agree that WWE needs to push some new guys into the main event scene with the careers of HHH, Taker, etc. slowing down, and also think if Punk became more intense he could be a true top guy like Cena.

For my take on the 4/20 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I also don't consider it a "World" Title like the AWA and NWA Titles. Flair's still the guy with the most World Titles in my book.

2. It's got to be coming eventually, right? Especially with new FCW call-ups waiting in the wings and some returning faces. Not only did WWE trademark it; they sell Future Endeavored T-shirts! It is pretty ridiculous.

3. Yeah, they're going for $9.99. Maybe they should add "botch" to the list? The audience who knows and cares about what those terms mean isn't huge enough to warrant that many shirts being made apparently.

After the break, I go into everything else from 4/20. Next up, wrestlers getting haircuts.

Smackdown thoughts - 4/20/12

This Smackdown is just 9 nights from Extreme Rules, where Sheamus faced Daniel Bryan in a 2 out of 3 falls match. What went down? Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happened.

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Christian returns to the ring and other European tour notes, Questions on a new nWo, retiring titles, Johnny Rodz, storage, and the Hall of Fame, Miz in GED ad, when Jericho's current run will end, Brazilian house show canceled, more on Bourne, Foley/Ambrose update, Edge's contract expiring, and WWE signs an indie name but not Miss USA

Christian returned to the ring for WWE at the 4/18 live event.

Speaking of those live events, William Regal returned home from the tour because of a family emergency and was replaced by Brodus Clay. I hope all's well with the wily Brit.

For my take on the 4/19 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I don't really see it. Otunga's not an "outsider" for one. The time for nWo comparisons, to me, was when Miz and R-Truth were wreaking havoc and being fired.

2. Supposedly HHH wants to rebuild the tag team division, but that hasn't gotten especially far if that's the case. I'd be a little surprised if they retired a title that's always been a part of the company (without replacing it with something else like they did the Women's Title). That being said, they're certainly not high up on the company's priority list. Look at how big of a deal the first TLC match was vs. where Primo and Epico were slotted at this year's Mania.

They've got 3 and 4 pretty covered, so after the break I'll go into the ever-popular "who should go into the Hall of Fame?" and the rest of the day's news.

Superstars and Impact Wrestling thoughts - 4/19/12

On the 4/19 edition of Superstars, former World Heavyweight and ECW Champion shows how consistent WWE is with pushes by competing on an international and web-only show against R-Truth. Then, on the 4/19 Impact Wrestling we get the fallout from TNA Lockdown with Bobby Roode, James Storm, and Garett Bischoff. Kurt Angle faces AJ Styles, and Hulk Hogan has an announcement! Read on for my thoughts on the shows as they happen.
