Query on WWE going back to TV-14, Interviews with Ziggler/Aries/Bad Influence/Jimmy Hart+Nastys/Jericho/Axel, wrestler sightings, Hacksaw needs surgery, new wrestling school, top new NXT talent debuts, Styles-TNA update, what's set for next week's Impact, more on ex-NXT star at TNA, special guest for TNA live events, Pope's tribute to Devon, TNA press, Where's Eve?, Where's Rey?, when DiBiase's departure will be official, wishing for AJ, more on WWE tryouts, top exec not at Impact, Magnus update, BFG Series rumorkiller, Impact audience, and Questions on the Bryan angle, TNA's six-sided ring, Divas, Velvet Sky, and a WCW mystery wrestler

First up, a query:
1. WWE has absolutely NO plans to go back to TV-14. That ship really seems to have sailed. They like to have relationships with companies that are attracted to a highly-rated PG product. It's firmly ingrained in their business model at this point.

Dolph Ziggler played up the current WWE storyline when promoting a WWE live event. Hopefully when the angle's over, guys like Ziggler, Bryan, and The Shield are positioned as the new flagbearers for WWE. It won't happen overnight, but it's obvious that those talents are willing to work hard enough to be some of the top guys in the company.

Austin Aries also talked up a live event. He's definitely one of TNA's top acts.

Bad Influence talked up that same TNA live event. Pretty entertaining. They're also pretty solid. If TNA does go out of business, it's a shame that guys like Daniels, Kazarian, and Aries might not be featured in WWE.

Query on Shane buying TNA, Interviews with Bully Ray/Tito+Rampage/Del Rio/Titus, John Cena update, Balls to shoot, where's Ohno?, more NXT name changes, Kurrgan profiled, book DiBiase, Santino's facility, Russo correction, reaction to Bischoff/Hogan, WWE tryout, ex-NXT star works TNA, and Questions on being a WWE VIP, Morgan-WWE, The Mediator, and Survivor Series '99

First up, a query:
1. There's no indication that Shane McMahon is interested in returning to the wrestling world full-time (or even part-time, really), nor is there any indication that Panda Energy is looking to sell TNA. So, no, I don't see Shane buying TNA.

Bully Ray talked about his career, Devon, Sting, Punk and more. He's not the only one who basically ignores Sabin's title reign. I like his philosophy of how great he wants to be as a face or a heel. I'm sure that Hogan appreciates Bully keeping that 94,000 figure alive. He's right that fans can watch both WWE and TNA. It's good for both to be around. He's also right about what it takes to be a wrestler. I'm not sure that I buy his theory about TNA having a better locker room than WWE. There are some good talents there, for sure. As for Devon, I'm not so sure that TNA will bring him in a third time. I think they've pretty much milked Team 3D dry.

John Cena gave an update on his recovery. I can't miss him if he's still all over the news.

Balls Mahoney will be the subject of a YouShoot DVD. Could be fun.

Main Event Reax - 8/28/13, lots of new NXT names, Interviews with Hogan+Bischoff/DiBiase Jr./Marella/Dixie/Del Rio, Bischoff correction, change in ratings, WTF story of the day, Hall appearance, WWE hacked, Sports with C.M. Punk, tech porn, Kane not running for office, indie team gets WWE tryout, and Questions on the Corporation, WWE's midcard titles, PTP, announcers, and Maddox

Main Event:
Axel vs. Rhodes was pretty good. I wouldn't mind them feuding for the IC Title, especially since Rhodes was the one who brought back the current design. And it would hopefully elevate both guys.

Hands up. Who had "Primo and Epico return as matadors" on their 2013 prediction sheet? Not me. But hey, at least they're getting attention now. Maybe WWE can/should recast some other people on the roster who aren't doing anything. Please?

Nice tag match! I think everyone in that match is doing a pretty good job lately.

That was a pretty good match to close the show. Looks like we might get a rematch based on that ending. I'm honestly getting a little tired of Kofi since his character's not really doing much of anything and his offense is kind of the same old thing. A character change or something would be great. That doesn't necessarily mean turning heel. I just want to see something new from him.

Query on Devon-WWE, What Happened After Raw, awesome "meeting wrestlers" story, more from Goldberg, Interviews with Luger/Gowen/Bad Influence, a look back at Shane Douglas dropping the NWA Title, WWE's social media prowess, HBK appearance, Raw audience, another non-wrestler wants into TNA, WWE looking for top Japanese star?, and Questions on HuluPlus, Kelly Kelly-TNA, AJ Styles, Cena's injury, and Del RIo

First up, a query:
1. I don't see Devon going back to WWE as a wrestler. Weirder things have happened, but I feel like they'd want to use that TV time for younger talents.

After Raw, Big Show, Mark Henry and Rob Van Dam beat The Shield to end the night with a face victory to send the fans home happy.

PWInsider.com has a great story about meeting wrestlers in an airport.

Goldberg talked about Brock Lesnar and more. I don't see WWE shelling out the kind of money Brock gets for Goldberg. Brock went from being a big WWE star to a big UFC star. Goldberg went from being a big WWE star to.... (?). I think WWE would have to be really desperate to go after him at 46.

Another wrestler returns, Russo looks at WCW 2000, former Tag Team Champion to leave WWE, Interviews with Aces and Eights/Beefcake/Lawler/Striker, more from Devon, more WWE meets AMC, former boxing champ to wrestle?, Smackdown audience, and Questions on AJ Styles, Matt Morgan, TNA fat cats, and making a wrestling promotion

Hunico, who hadn't had a match in WWE for 2 1/2 months, returned to WWE live events recently to lose to The Great Khali. He's only had 8 matches in 2013. I've enjoyed what I've seen from him and wish there was a better way to make use of him.

Vince Russo will give his take on the year 2000 for WCW. I can't WAIT to see that. That could be explosive.

Ted DiBiase, Jr. has announced that he will not renew his contract with WWE. If he feels happier doing something other than wrestling, that's his call. I'm glad he put his time in the company over. There were times where he showed some real potential, but there are only so many spots on the roster and now his spot will go to people who want to stick around. Note: As of this writing, DiBiase is still a part of WWE. His current contract just hasn't expired yet.

Update: DiBiase, Sr. commented on his son's WWE tenure. I think there are a number of things they could have done with DiBiase, Jr., but would there be enough commitment from all parties involved and the fans to propel him higher than he got previously?

McMahons box, Interviews with Clay/Goldberg/Hart/Beefcake, today's history lesson, Sorensen lawyering up?, scary Tyson story, Wrestling Legends Night coverage, Styles update, assorted press, NXT update, and Questions on podcasts, Anderson, Mike Bennett, modern Horsemen, and Matt Striker

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon did some boxing training.

Brodus Clay talked about a number of topics in an interview promoting his movie. I might not be crazy about his gimmick, but I think he's safer in that role than he was as another big hulking powerhouse. He can always turn heel down the line and crush heads.

Here's a look back at the early days of televised pro wrestling, specifically the popularity of Gorgeous George. Pretty cool stuff. It's a shame how George's life ended.

Sean Waltman encouraged Jesse Sorensen to speak with a lawyer about TNA not covering his medical bills. Things really don't look good for TNA these days.

Diva returns, Dykstra update, Interviews with Natalya/Bray, Sting to make international appearance, and Questions on selling TNA, Bray beating Taker, and TNA Creative

Tamina Snuka, who hasn't had a match in over 2 1/2 months, competed at a live event in Fresno. Also at that event was Rey Mysterio, who stuck with the September timetable for an in-ring return.

The former Kenny Dykstra now plays football in college. That's an interesting reversal! Usually it's a college football player going to WWE.

Natalya talked about an upcoming WWE live event. I miss Tyson Kidd...

Bray Wyatt talked about Sister Abigail, which is the name of his finisher. This is ALL KINDS OF CRAZY. I hope we get more fun gimmicks and less "wrestler from ______ who wants to win matches and titles".

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Interviews with Stone Cold/Charlotte, Goldberg-WWE update, Devon talks leaving TNA, WWE and Hogan press, Nikki Bella update, Cena injury photo, Impact audience, what's on next week's Impact, and Questions on Punk as Rocket Raccoon, Sin Cara, and Summerslam's ending

Stone Cold talked about possibly returning to the ring, "What" chants, and more. I'm pretty much thinking that Austin won't be getting back in the ring. I'd love Austin vs. Punk, but that might stay in the "fantasy" realm. He's right about the "What?" chants, I think.

Goldberg shut down the rumor that he's in talks to do WM30. This is another one we probably need to come to terms with not happening.

Devon made some remarks about leaving TNA. Devon's a good guy and all, but I can see why they'd cut him. TNA does need some veterans around, but they also need some new blood. Hopefully Devon leaving opens the doors for some of that new blood to come in.

The Bella Twins will be on the new season of "Psych". Please tell me they do Twin Magic on Gus and Shawn.

AXXESS photos, more on Legends Night, Interviews with Carlito+Hardy/Bryan/Pearce/Foley/HHH/Flair, Magnus doing TV, more on Mania, new WWE hire, former TNA Champions leaving?, Cena update, and Questions on a Mil Mascaras DVD and Shane O'Mac

This link has a lot of pictures from AXXESS. Some really good pictures there! Cool that AJ and Daniel Bryan are in the spotlight like that. Also, some NXT stars got to show what they can do.

Here are details on the Miami Marlins Wrestling Legends night.

Carlito and Matt Hardy talked about an indie show. I wouldn't mind seeing them wrestle again.

Magnus is scheduled to film "U.K.'s Strongest Man" this week, which will air on Challenge TV (like TNA's shows).

Main Event Rex - 8/21/13, possible sites for future Manias, Interview with Luger/Rey/Heyman, TNA's latest publicity scheme, Rey/Cena updates, pre-WWE Bray, new WWE campaign, Regal has feels, live event press, and Questions on headlining Mania, Taker vs. Orton, "Total Divas", WWE's "meaningless" Titles, and the greatest night in the history of our sport

Main Event:
Pretty good opening match. Keeping The Shield's momentum going after the DQ at Summerslam.

I got flashbacks to AJ and Naomi coming up through the ranks on NXT Season 3. Ahh, memories. Both performers have improved since then. I think they can get a lot out of AJ in the years to come.

Colter never fails to crack me up. This is definitely the most interesting Khali scenario I can think of since Cesaro's U.S. Title defense.

Ugh. Khali. He's got to be one of the worst wrestlers I've ever seen. He's lucky to have some really good opponents cover for him - it feels like he's practically immobile. I've seen better matches from KEVIN NASH.

I think they're starting to get just about everything they can from the Fandango gimmick. At least against Miz and not doing anything but dancing.

Cool win for Bray. I hope he and the Family go far. I might even have him go over Kane again, honestly. Do not kill an act with this much potential! I like Kane a lot, but WWE needs to build some new stars.

Sin Cara hurt, Heyman is stressed, what happened after Raw, Hall update, Interviews with "See No Evil 2" directors/Barrett/Bryan/Natalya, Ryback's victims identified, more fallout from 2K14 presentation, how WWE markets itself, Smackdown press, Cena update, Summerslam does great, Rey back soon?, Raw audience, and Questions on Alicia Fox, TNA vs. ROH, "Internet panhandling", Orton/Heyman, and TNA's malaise

Sin Cara dislocated a finger during his match on Raw, and will be undergoing X-Rays to see what kind of damage has been done. More on this as it comes in. I enjoy Sin Cara, so I hope he doesn't suffer too much of a setback.

Paul Heyman appeared on "Stressipes". Mostly entertaining.

After Raw, Orton and the McMahons left the ring. The Sheild beat down Daniel Bryan until Heny, Show, and Ziggler made the save to take them out.

DDP updated Scott Hall's progress. He's coming along. I like that they're not trying to "build Rome in a day", but instead making progress at a reasonable pace.

Cena update, why Del Rio was bruised, DDP preview, Menounos profiled, Reaction to Summerslam, Interviews with HBK/Miz/Cody, Warrior promotion, identity of new WWE gimmick, Smackdown audience, and Questions on Young coming out, a Thursday Night War, Goldberg coming back, and Title importance

John Cena's injury is legitimate and he will indeed miss several months. While on the surface this is a blow to WWE, it presents a lot of opportunities for people to step up. Hopefully that won't be temporary.

Alberto Del Rio and Drew McIntyre got into a fight with several patrons of a club near the WWE hotel over Summerslam weekend, leading to Del Rio's facial injuries. No word on if they were clients of Ricardo Rodriguez.

Here's a preview of DDP appearing on Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel. That looks like a lot of fun!

Maria Menounos' involvement at Summerslam AXXESS was profiled, so they did get some of the buzz they were looking for with her competing. There have definitely been worse celebrity involvements in wrestling.

Crazy WWE press conference, Interviews with Funkadactyls/Hornswoggle/Nikki+Alicia+Lilian/Fandango+Summer Rae/Sting/Stone Cold/HBK, and Questions on a Vince autobiography, facing WWE on Mondays, the state of TNA, Brooke returning, and Young coming out

There was a symposium on WWE 2K14, which is getting a lot of attention due to the behavior of the panelists. I can see why people are buzzing about it. What the hell was going on there? Definition of a(n entertaining) trainwreck.

Update: Jim Ross denies being drunk at the event, blaming his Bell's Palsy. Either way, that was pretty crazy.  What's Flair's excuse?

Update: WWE Management was less than pleased at the presentation, and this could have an impact on Flair becoming a WWE Ambassador or not.

Here are some pre-Summerslam interviews: Naomi and Cameron, Hornswoggle, Nikki Bella/Alicia Fox/Lilian Garcia (all one interview), and Fandango/Summer Rae. Suffice to say that Summerslam was an important media event.

Interviews with Stone Cold/Mickie/Steiner/Punk/Sandow, Flair back with WWE, more on Brooke Hogan's release, Cena off live event, story on Charlotte, and Questions on TNA's decision-making and a Heyman DVD

Stone Cold Steve Austin talked ahead of Summerslam. He sounds really happy with where his life is right now. How cool would Stone Cold vs. The Shield would be? I agree that they shouldn't split The Shield any time soon.

Ric Flair was at Summerslam AXXESS, and WWE could bring him back in something of a PR role. That's fine by me. I think he could be a great addition to the company in that capacity (and he needs the money).

The feeling in TNA about cutting Brooke Hogan was that her role had run its course and that she was too expensive to keep around at a time of cost-cutting. I don't think that it will be hard to write her off and move forward. I can see the argument that they could have done a heel turn or something to get us through the final stage of Bully vs. Hogan, but that's a hard sell for a non-wrestler getting paid a lot to stay around another 2 months. It's not like there's a huge audience who looks forward to seeing her (that I'm aware of).

Smackdown Reax - 8/16/13

Read on for my thoughts on last night's Smackdown.

Interviews with Orton/Korderas/ex-WWE writer/Del Rio/Divas/Punk/Titus/Show, Austin appearance, next TNA special, more on Young, Hardcore Justice rating, Brooke Hogan gone from TNA, and Questions on gay wrestlers, Savage, and Menounos

Randy Orton talked about up-and-coming talent, Darren Young coming out, and more. I like Orton, but it's hard to justify pushing someone with two Wellness strikes sometimes.

Steve Austin was at Summerslam weekend, meeting with JR and HHH. I think HHH was one of Austin's favorite opponents. As cool as it would be to see HHH and Austin mix it up one more time, I don't know if that would be the best use of two performers mostly removed from their in-ring careers.

Former referee Jimmy Korderas talked about the botched finish on Raw and more. I do think that the commentators take away from things at times.

TNA will have No Surrender on 9/12. I'm guessing that's when they'll wrap up the BFG Series.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Darren Young comes out and the WWE Universe reacts, Nash bashes TNA, Interviews with Luger/Henry/RVD/Lesnar/Poffo/Ziggler, when Maria will wrestle, NXT release, DDP on HBO, and Questions on WWE releasing Young, McIntyre, Cena as a heel, Ryder, and the Bellas

Darren Young talked to TMZ, confirming his homosexuality. I think it's great that he can feel comfortable sharing that with his fans (and the world). I don't think that his sexuality matters anymore than his religion, political views, etc. In other words, it has no bearing on how I view him as a person or as a performer. I'm not going to rate his work or skills any differently as a result of this revelation, though I admire his courage in "coming out" at a time when that isn't popular with a large portion of the population.

As you might expect, there was a lot of reaction from Young's peers: John Cena, WWE Corporate, Stephanie McMahon, Titus O'Neil , Bret Hart , Triple H , Jim Ross , and Rosa Mendes all issued statements of support. That's great. In a world where so many feel that they have to stay underground for fear of bullying, etc. because of their sexual orientation, these people are showing that it's ok to be "out".

Main Event Reax - 8/14/13, Interviews with HHH/Bryan/Heyman, botched finish on Raw?, celebrity wrestling at AXXESS, Summerslam notes, Sheamus injury pics, and Questions on BROCK LESNAR, Bryan and Austin, "Total Divas", another reality show, and Goldberg

Main Event:
I think that might have been Cody's best match to date! Both guys looked really good as far as in-ring talents. It elevated Rhodes to look like he was in Del Rio's league (though it can certainly be argued that they could have made Del Rio look stronger).

While in some ways I dislike Main Event for "just" being wrestling matches, in some ways it's enjoyable to just see what these guys can do in longer matches. Both teams looked good here, and everyone involved is still pretty young. WWE's future looks bright.

I'm always down to someone get FIVED. I enjoy both competitors, though I think it makes more sense for them to face some people who have been on the main roster longer so they learn a little more. I'll be curious to see how Big E does on Sunday.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Post-Raw dark match, WWE's plans this week, Sorensen update, Cena game, Interviews with Snuka/Y2J/Hogan, Eva Marie photos, Summerslam press conference, Raw audience, another way to watch Summerslam, Storm at Performance Center, new TNA talent?, and Questions on Summerslam matches, JR, Angle, and the McMahons

After Raw, the team of Big Show, Mark Henry, and Daniel Bryan beat The Shield. How crazy is it that that face trio came together after their feuds for the World Title? It makes sense since they're all enemies of The Shield; it's just kind of funny that they're working together now.

WWE put out a press release about their Summerslam week activities. It's a big thing. Notable is that Eve Torres and Rey Mysterio will be a part of Summerslam week. I haven't heard anything about either returning any time soon (or in Eve's case, returning at all - she just lives in the area).

Jesse Sorensen got good news on his neck status, and here's a preview for his shoot interview. I can't blame TNA for cutting him loose given how much money he made in his backstage role. They did make him a promise, though. Sometimes those aren't easy to keep.

WWE has released a John Cena racing game. Details here. Yeah, I won't be playing that.

JR talks Sheamus, Interviews with Punk/Miz/HBK, see HBK, celebrity at Summerslam?, new Hardcore Justice match, TNA star in WWE 2K14, Smackdown audience, more Total Divas hype, Summerslam pre-show notes, and Questions on MITB cashing in, changing Kofi, Option C, Sheamus, and Cena

Jim Ross talked about Sheamus' injury. Cool that JR put him over. He's a great worker.

Here's a transcript of a C.M. Punk Q&A. WHY do fans feel like they have to use wrestlers' real names? Do they do this to Tom Cruise or Bono or anyone? I would figure that the straight edge concept wouldn't be too hard to understand: NO DRINKING. Anyway, he's always enjoyable to hear from. I like that he puts over younger members of the roster.

The Miz talked about his nerves and more. He has some of the best facial expressions.

Shawn Michaels is scheduled for some Q&A signings ahead of Summerslam AXXESS. How many Montreal questions do you think he'll get?

Henry is strong, Interview with Shaw, Punk plays whiffle ball, AJ photos, new Hardcore Justice match, injured star returns, and Questions on WWE in L.A., Christian, Orton's attack, and Vince's pushes

Mark Henry pulled a Semi truck because he's some kind of freak of nature. Here it is in picture form. That's quite impressive!

TNA/OVW star Sam Shaw talked. I still think it's way weird that he survived the roster cuts this year over Christian York, Crimson, Joey Ryan, and Sarita.

Did you ever want to see a picture of C.M. Punk in a vintage baseball uniform using a steel chair like a baseball bat? Here you go.

For the AJ Lee fans out there, here are some pics of the current Divas' Champ. She's so awesome.

See Raw with the MDM, WWE Still Employed list, Interview with Sabin, new Bryan song?, more MLB+wrestling, Sheamus thanks fans, and Questions on Sunny in Charlotte, RVD's WWE status, improving MITB, a Lawler DVD, Pedro Morales, and Mid-South

Ted DiBiase, Sr. will be hosting a Raw viewing party for this week's show at Planet Wings on the Dutchess Turnpike in Poughkeepsie, NY. No word on if he'll make Virgil do bartending. And yes, his son's still in WWE. Unless you count Superstars in May, he hasn't wrestled on TV all year. He's done dark matches and live events, though, so they haven't forgotten that he's under contract. On the other hand, Camacho, David Otunga, Evan Bourne, Ezekiel Jackson, JTG, Rosa Mendes, and Santino Marella haven't wrestled at all in over 3 months. Santino says he's coming back next month, though.

Chris Sabin talked about next week's Hardcore Justice. Yeah, I think he's a "lame duck" Champion at this point. But hey, maybe AJ Styles wins the Title at BFG and gets the company back on track.

Daniel Bryan wants Frank Turner to work with him on a song, and Frank's down. Maybe it will happen?

What a "Ring of Fire" match entails, Interviews with Rhodes/Henry/Ziggler/Trish/Sandow, Reks does a good deed, Impact audience, and Questions on WWE PPVs on free TV, Summerslam cash-ins, NXT, and RVD in TNA

The current plan for Summerslam's Ring of Fire match is that the ring will be surrounded by fire (presumably on the ring apron like in an Inferno match). Apparently Wyatt and Kane don't have to set their opponent on fire to win the match, though. I think the fans are going to be disappointed if no one gets set ablaze (as they probably should be). Either way, that's certainly a cool gimmick that hasn't been watered down like seemingly every other gimmick match WWE has done.

WWE.com has a big interview with Cody Rhodes about growing up around WCW. Pretty cool stuff. Ask the Young Bucks/Generation Me how seriously WWE takes the hand-shaking thing. The stuff about punching people in the face when they say that wrestling is fake was pretty funny. Big Show was "Giant" in WCW, hence the Gant joke. I wish I would have seen Goldust's work in WCW without the crazy gimmick.

The former Tyler Reks met with a fan who has a rare disease. That's pretty cool, especially how they met. It looks like he missed Reks' run on the ECW brand.

WWE took a look at the Ribera Steakhouse in Japan, which is something of a destination when you wrestle there. I lol'd at the Dreamer story.

Here's a WWF Championship that The Rock was going to have, but never made it to TV. That thing's pretty awesome.

Stone Cold talked about Bryan, Cena, ROH, and more. I pretty much wholeheartedly agree with him.

WWE NXT will continue to run the old FCW Arena every Thursday, which might seem kind of silly, but they still have that space.

Main Event Reax - 8/7/13, TNA press, more on Performance Center, Sheamus injured, Interviews with Bryan/Kharma/Maria/Hogan, and Questions on Kane, HHH's underlings, Total Divas, and staying in TNA

Main Event:
The opening six-man was pretty good. That combination of people works together really well: there are some fast-paced performers mixed with some rough-housers and big "power" guys.

That was great for getting The Shield over. And they say that WWE can't/doesn't push new stars. They kind of threw Henry and the Usos under a bus, though. I guess we're supposed to see their claims as ridiculous, though, since Henry and the Usos put up a good fight and have had The Shield on the run in the past.

Natalya vs. Aksana was fine enough. Aksana definitely looks like a different performer from when we first saw her - she's still not one of the top acts of the division, but she's certainly more competent in the ring than she was on NXT Season 3.

Axel vs. Sin Cara was really good. Cara has improved drastically from his WWE debut, and both men really looked motivated to make an impact. Good work.

Big Show update, Interview with Cena, more MLB/wrestling details, Punk corrects YOUR grammar, Shark Boy Week!, Hogan press, WM30 news, WWE's new ref, Summerslam notes, Raw audience, and Questions on "The One" Dolph Ziggler, why some criticize the IWC, McMahon involvement, and security

Big Show will be at Summerslam AXXESS. I feel like some more time away from TV won't hurt him. It feels like it's time to refresh his character, or just... something. After the "ironclad contract" angle and being World Champ, it feels like he's really stale. Having seen him since '99, it feels like I've seen like everything the character/performer can do.

John Cena was interviewed by Mens' Fitness. I don't think anyone can deny his dedication to the business.

Here are details for the Miami Marlins' upcoming wrestling-themed night.

C.M. Punk gave some grammar tips for those who Tweet him. This is a necessary service unfortunately. Great series.

Condolences, Foley has special guests, WM29 special viewership, new WWE exec, new WWE trademark, Smackdown audience, Inferno rumorkiller, Angle in rehab, and Questions on Taker at Mania, the WWE schedule, MMA in TNA, and NXT

Dutch Savage, star from the Pacific Northwest, passed away at 78. NFL Hall of Famer Art Donovan passed away at 88. He was a guest commentator at the '94 King of the Ring. They'll both be missed by those who knew them.

Here's a report from a Mick Foley comedy outing featuring DDP, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, and Scott Hall. Glad to hear that Hall and Roberts have improved.

The WM29 special on NBC did 1.92 million viewers, which is pretty good. I'm impressed.

WWE has named a new VP of Kids' Entertainment. Cool story, bro. Next. I mean, I guess that's cool and all. Doesn't really affect me in any way at this stage.

Morgan talks Angle, Interviews with Bryan/Henry, changes in TNA live event, WWE star on Shark Week, and Questions on Angle, WWE ironmen, TNA running small venues, and "free PPVs"

Matt Morgan discussed Kurt Angle's recent issues and decision to go to rehab. I really hope that Angle kicks his habits. I support him in this stage of his life. It won't be easy.

Daniel Bryan talked to DirecTV, in two parts. I feel like something magic might be in the air for him at Summerslam. I find it awesome that Bryan is so complimentary of people he's worked with. Great attitude. That interview almost single-handedly sold Summerslam for me. Cena/Bryan could be one of those moments you tell future generations about.

Mark Henry talked ahead of Raw. Scary strong guy.

Nash appearance, Interviews with Manik/Show, Iron Sheik doc update, more on Orton attack, NOC poster, and Questions on wrestling as a sport, Angle's rehab, Sabu, and TTTT

Kevin Nash's appearance at a "Legends of Wrestling" night at a minor league baseball game was profiled. Baysox is an interesting name. I had to look up what the heck that meant. In other news, it looks like Kevin Nash actually is a draw in 2013. Some "smark" somewhere just had a heart attack.

X-Division Champion Manik was interviewed. Even the current face of the X-Division sees some of the problems with the triple threat format. It also felt like he was taking something of a shot at TNA's older stars. When has WWE EVER cut 50 people in a year, much less every year?

The Iron Sheik, REAL LEGEND, put out a press release to help fund his documentary. Sounds way too coherent to be directly from Sheiky baby.

Why Ortiz is in TNA, TNA attendance note, Gut Check update, South Africans continue to take wrestling too seriously, Interview with Goldberg, TNA PPV problems, Angle gets another DWI, Impact audience, and Questions on the Divas, Bryan in the Wyatt Family, Henry's de-push, music during run-ins, and an SMW DVD

Tito Ortiz is in TNA to hype his Bellator bout with Rampage Jackson set for November 2. I haven't heard anything about whether or not he'll be stepping into the ring for TNA. I hope Bellator is promoting TNA as well.

The building where TNA did their most recent Impact Wrestling tapings has 18 upper level sections and 18 mezzanine sections: TNA sold tickets in 7 of the upper level sections and 3 of the mezzanine sections. In other words, attendance wasn't very good.

OVW trainer Danny Davis will no longer be doing Gut Check in TNA, so it could very well be a dead concept. That concept had a lot of potential and they could have brought in and used a number of talented performers. But, like a lot of good things, it fell apart. I continue to worry about TNA's future.

A number of WWE stars, including Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio, visited a student who was injured when two other students put a Tombstone Piledriver on him.

WWE releases Q2 2013 earnings

Read on for my take on all of yesterday's financial news for WWE.

Query on Fandango, ex-NFL star wants to wrestle, Interviews with Ryder/Sting/James Storm/Rock/Gabriel, more from Orton attacker, TNA in India, Knockouts press, Rayne talks TNA departure, Lawler remembers Maclin, JR Q&A, final #August1Warning video, #AskDixie, and Questions on The Shield, promoting the Orton attacker, other Divas on "Total Divas", a mystery woman, and Tara

First up, a query:
1. It is WAY too early to declare Fandango "the new Shawn Michaels" (I assume this is a comparison to the early HBK gimmick). I enjoy Fandango's work and all, but he's still pretty new to the main roster. Ask again in a few years and maybe I'll see the comparison.

Former NFL player Quinn Ojinnaka is looking to move into pro wrestling. He's had tryouts with WWE and has some matches under his belt. That's a good start. I wish him well.

Zack Ryder talked about his current status in WWE. Remember when they pushed him?

The fan (?) who attacked Randy Orton released a promo about his actions.
Seriously, a mental health professional needs to look into this. I think "delusional" is fairly appropriate here.

All of the rest of yesterday's non-financial news is after the break.

Main Event Reax - 7/31/13, Interview with King Mo, Memphis legend passes, big WWE in little China, Interviews with D'Lo/Roode, more on Orton attack, where's Mideon now?, why 3MB member isn't touring, and an update on Santino

Main Event:
Barrett vs. Truth was really good. That's the best R-Truth match I've seen in quite a while. That's not a knock on Truth - he just generally doesn't have matches this long with veterans.

The JBL segment was funny. I'm not really sure why, but today I found amusing what I normally wouldn't.

You know, it seems like we see PTP vs. The Usos all the time, but this one was pretty good. It was like they all had something to prove and were motivated. Both teams keep getting better, and I hope WWE's taking notice.

Henry vs. McIntyre was fine as far as squash matches go. I like that McIntyre got in some offense. There's still hope for him one day being a star (right?).
