Traci leaves TNA, more shots by Steiner, MLB player wanted to be WWE star, Questions on WWE beating TNA in Florida, Brock apologizing, alternate plan for Brock vs. Cena, Jericho looking weak, and Bryan going back to ROH, update on Kazarian, more Gut Checks, WWE mocks Lilian again, Dillon interview, TNA on the air in Poland, and a Bourne injury update

Traci Brooks' TNA contract expired. She wasn't really doing anything in the company, so that makes sense.

Scott Steiner claims that TNA Lockdown only got 2500-3000 attending, with a good part of that crowd being from free tickets. He also took more shots at Hogan and Bischoff. There are definitely some changes that need to take place in the company to bump numbers higher.

Eric Thames of the Toronto Blue Jays mentioned wanting to be a WWE star when he was younger. That's not as common of a goal as it was when he was that age.

Here's my take on the 4/18 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I think they should, though perhaps they shouldn't be surprised given how much higher WWE's business is and that that taping was the night after WrestleMania. Everyone was talking about Rock and Lesnar being in town, and TNA doesn't have anyone who has that much appeal in 2012.

2. That is a pretty good point, but I don't see it happening. Lesnar would have to really go out of his way to win over the younger guys given the big difference between his contract and theirs. The best apology he could do might very well be giving WWE higher PPV buyrates, which would give those performers more money.

After the break, I go into everything else from 4/18. Next up, a question on Brock attacking Rock instead of Cena.

NXT thoughts - 4/18/12

On the 4/18 edition of NXT: William Regal presents Maxine vs. Kaitlyn, Percy Watson vs. Johnny Curtis, and Tyler Reks vs. Curt Hawkins in a loser leaves NXT match. Who's getting fired? Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

Video of Cena after Raw, Questions on not pushing young talents, breaking up Cena/Lesnar, alcoholism as an angle, Ziggler/Swagger, and stopping watching wrestling, Prichard returns to TNA, who changed TNA's entrances, more on Lockdown theater issues, Harris-TNA update, Konnan takes shots at Del Rio, 4/13 Smackdown rating, Aries interview, Smackdown dark match, and the Raw rating

Here's video of John Cena selling the effects of Lord Tensai's mist following Raw.

For my take on the 4/17 edition of PWInsider.com's questions:
1. I see the points here. WWE would note the huge number Mania just did, but ratings haven't gotten the bump that they would have liked. While they are pushing some new stars, the most-pushed guys generally remain the performers who have been around a decade or more. They need to use guys like the names mentioned better and more selectively to elevate the stars of tomorrow.

2. My guess is that the Cena/Lesnar fight was so big they were ok helping each other out to stop it. I would also have liked the separation to be on face/heel lines, though.

3. I understand that feeling, but I also understand that given how many times Hall's been down this road, some don't have sympathy for him any more.

After the break, I go in to everything else from 4/17. Next up, evaluating how over Ziggler and Swagger would be without Vickie.

Post-Lockdown health update for Angle, Questions on Vince having Twitter, a Cena parody in TNA, indies, wrestlers' BS, and giving Brock a weakness, Lockdown theater errors, HHH talks WWE-Russia, Edge interview, Impact preview, Bischoff update, more on Hogan/NHL, Bryan talks being vegan, anti-bullying meets baseball, WM28 breaks box office records, 4/16 Raw dark match featuring FCW stand-out, DGUSA wrestler at Raw, Austin teases another match, Foley blogs about Ambrose, Guest Booker with Sullivan and Sapolsky, and what happened after Raw

After Lockdown, Kurt Angle noted on Twitter that he would be taking a break from TNA, presumably to heal after his injuries. As of 4/16, he intends to make the next PPV.

PWInsider.com had new questions on 4/16. Here's my take on them:
1. It could also be because he's pretty busy as Chairman and CEO of the company. He's got a lot of responsibilities behind-the-scenes that would seemingly occupy a lot of his time. But I trust their answer as well.

2. While I definitely see that idea getting over with at least part of the audience, I think it might be better for them to focus on their own wrestlers and characters instead of taking shots at WWE. As much as I loved the Gillberg character, it didn't do nearly as much to help WWE past WCW as did building Rock, Austin, etc..

3. I'm not exactly an expert on indies, but I have seen that ROH and Dragon Gate/Evolve feature young guys and some veterans, wisely using the latter to elevate their current crop.

After the break, I go into everything else from 4/16, as I begin the long road to catching up on the news I missed. Next, why do some wrestlers make up such tall tales like playing bass for Metallica?

Raw thoughts - 4/16/12

Tonight on Raw, C.M. Punk is forced to defend the WWE Championship against Mark Henry once again. Only this time, there will be no DQs and no count-outs. Will the Straight Edge Savior make it to Extreme Rules in one piece? Also, John Cena responds to last week's attack by Brock Lesnar. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

Arquette talks wrestling, Z! TLIS #62, Lockdown hype, Questions on remembering Benoit, turning Aries face, TNA's booking, WWE's naming, and Taker at Mania, Foley interview, Hogan cameo at NHL game, and a former TNA star at Lockdown

David Arquette talked about his involvement with wrestling. At least celebrities don't hold titles today.

Here's episode #62 of Z! True Long Island Story. The Brosetta Stone bit was good.

TNA's YouTube and Twitter pages featured a number of video interviews and other previews for Lockdown/

PWInsider.com had some new questions up on Sunday. Here's my look at them:
1. And this is why I don't check out many social media comments. There needs to be some kind of literacy test you have to pass before you can post on some sites... Even without the issues of grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure, that's a bad response. I can see how people would want to remember the great matches Benoit had instead of the terrible deeds he did on his final weekend, but that comment did more harm than good to that argument. It's not coherent enough for anyone to waste his or her time on.

After the break, I go into everything else from Sunday. Next up, did TNA rush the Austin Aries face turn?

TNA Lockdown thoughts

Tonight, TNA goes on Lockdown as every single match takes place inside of a steel cage. Former partners turned bitter enemies Bobby Roode and James Storm collide over the TNA World Title, either Eric or Garett Bischoff must leave the company following Lethal Lockdown, and a number of other title and grudge matches will go down. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

TNA Lockdown preview

TNA's got another PPV tonight, with such stars as Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Bobby Roode, and James Storm in action. Not only are there several grudge and title matches, but as the name suggests, everything will take place inside of a steel cage. Read on for how I'd book the show.

Morgan to WWE?, Punk tries to help mascot win race, Bellas update, Questions on TNA DVDs, Molly Holly, the Bellas and wrestlers with a military background, Angle update, report from Lockdown fan event, and a Bobby Roode interview

Matt Morgan was interviewed ahead of Lockdown. What stands out is that he notes that WWE has expressed interest in re-signing him. His current contract expires in October, and he'd consider returning there if all the stars align. I'm a fan of his, so I'd be fine with him in either promotion. It's great for talents when they can get strong offers from more than one promotion, and there's more incentive for promotions to use them better.  This is one reason the Monday Night Wars era worked out so well for everyone (for a few years anyway).

C.M. Punk was involved in the festivities of a Washington Nationals game, trying to help someone dressed as Theodore Roosevelt win a race. I can't believe I just typed that.

The Bella Twins will indeed be working this week's TV tapings, but not the live events.

PWInsider.com had some new questions up for Saturday. Here's my take:
1. I also haven't seen anything yet, so I assume the situation still hasn't been resolved.

2. I'm starting to wonder if this is some kind of inside joke or intentionally repeated question, since it keeps popping up. Why this person thinks the answer will be different each time is beyond me.

After the break, I go into everything else from Saturday. Next up, questions on the future of the Bella Twins.

Maria Kanellis interview, ECW originals look back at Barely Legal, Questions on tag teams, Lesnar past-WM29, Melina-TNA, Aries vs. Bully Ray, and the Divas Title, more on Russo YouShoot, Jannetty interview, who was the minister on Impact?, RVD update, TNA charity, Nash wants back in WWE, No Way Out update, live report of Punk/Jericho angle, Hogan talks before Lockdown, Impact Wrestling rating, NY Times misidentifies Angle, Big Show autograph signing report, and a Honky Tonk Man interview,

Maria Kanellis had an interview with VOC Nation. Here are some highlights. ROH isn't even close to surpassing TNA, even if you just look at their business in the U.S.. Let's not kid ourselves here. ROH isn't in nearly as many homes as TNA, for starters. Who are these celebrities ROH is making? That implies anyone knows any of them outside of wrestling circles. I do agree about the Twitter-WWE stuff, though.

The former Sign Guy Dudley looked back at ECW Barely Legal at its 15th anniversary.

Update: As did Joey Styles and Tommy Dreamer at WWE.com. Good reads with some inside jokes and jabs.

PWInsider.com had some new questions for Friday. Here's my take:
1. I don't consider myself enough of a tag team historian to give a qualified answer here, so I'll let them take that one.

2. His contract ends at WM29 is I'm understanding things correctly, so that idea wouldn't work without him re-signing. That said, he could very well win the WWE Title before then. He might re-sign after Mania, but it's far from a guarantee.

3. I'm also kind of surprised about that, unless they're concerned about her backstage reputation. If they signed her without Morrison, people would inevitable wonder where he is. So perhaps that's where the issue is. There was also a rumor that she had a high price-tag, and TNA's already got some pretty heavy salaries to fill.

After the break, I go into everything else from Friday. Next up, why is Austin Aries facing Bully Ray?

Friday, April 13, 2012

Bryan interview with GQ, Questions on Morgan, Ryan, the Attitude Adjustment, WWE going after Bully Ray, and RVD, Ortiz to WWE?, WWE angle at Revolver Awards, Tyson interview, Angle pulls out of Olympics after tearing MCL, Sheamus talks in Ireland, Devon charity appearance, and WWE wants Bret on the Walk of Fame

Daniel Bryan was interviewed by GQ.com. Good read from someone who I hope is around for years to come. The more we get of guys like Punk and Bryan (and less like, say, Big Show and Khali), the happier I'll be as a fan. With all the praise they're getting, I'm chomping at the bit to see Rollins, Ambrose, Cesaro, and Ohno on the main roster.

Here's my take on Thursday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. He's indeed locked in to a contract with TNA. I share the enthusiasm and hope that if things ever do go south there, WWE wants him back.

2. He's still got a ways to go to be someone the company can count on to be a big star, inside the ring and on the mic. He's definitely got a good look and can be a convincing powerhouse with the right opponents, but I don't think he's ready for much of a push.

3. I didn't interpret this question as someone thinking the move hadn't been done before Cena, though that's technically possible. I hope they do bring up their past and Cena using that move because of the old feud with Lesnar. There's some good history to play off of between them in addition to the current issues they have.

After the break, I go into everything else from Thursday. Next up, why doesn't WWE go after Bully Ray for playing off of the Bubba Ray Dudley name?

Superstars and Impact Wrestling thoughts- 4/12/12

Today on WWE Superstars, two former Divas' Champions square off as Kelly Kelly goes up against Brie Bella. Who will theoretically be closer to a title shot when the show's over? Then, on Impact Wrestling,  we're just 3 days away from Lockdown. Bobby Roode will defend the TNA Championship against former partner James Storm in a big grudge match in a cage then, but never mind that because Eric Young's getting married to ODB tonight. Talk about having your priorities in order... Read on for my thoughts on both shows as they happen.

Lockdown promotions, JJ Dillon talks Horsemen in HoF, Questions on Tyson at the HoF, new stars since 2003, Cole, pairing FCW stars with veterans, and WWE re-evaluating their Network, Miss USA update, Nash comments on Hall, Christian update, Rock wants Lesnar, Ryder talks social media, Cena compared to Tebow, more on Foley/Ambrose, Bellas note, Punk/Rey at Comic-Con, Cuban mentions time in WWE, first-time wrestling viewer blogs, Hall update, Metallica drummer disputes Hogan claim, Jericho appearance, Foley raffle profiled, another look at Strongbow, disgruntled wrestlers take to Twitter, and the Smackdown rating

Jeff Hardy and James Storm will throw out the first pitch at minor league baseball games in Nashville this weekend to promote Lockdown.

JJ Dillion talked about the Four Horsemen going into the WWE Hall of Fame.

For my take on Wednesday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Like they said, Tyson's Tyson. I have kind of an odd sense of humor, so I was fine with it. I can see how people wouldn't be, though.

2. That depends on how you define "over". Has anyone gotten to the level of Rock, Taker, or HHH? I don't think so. I also think it took a while for Cena, Orton, etc. to get over, so it's not like things have just stopped since 2003 (neither of them had even been WWE/World Champion then). Brock Lesnar and Batista also got sustained pushes. There've been others who've gotten good pushes and looked like they could make it to being longer-term stars, but have inevitably been de-pushed. And buyrates/ratings have been notably decreased as a result. Who'd have thought?

3. I do wonder what he thinks of fans and performers never accepting him like they have JR. As for him repeating things, that might be him trying to emulate JR's "Stone Cold! Stone Cold!" or being yelled at to do it.

After the break, I go into everything else from Wednesday. Next up, a question on putting FCW stars with veterans on the road.

NXT thoughts - 4/11/12

This week on WWE NXT, Tyson Kidd takes on Michael McGillicutty in a third match after they've traded wins in recent weeks. Who will go "one up" tonight? And for those of you who tune in for the more dramatic elements, Maxine and Johnny Curtis have to deal with the latest from Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks. Read on for my thoughts on all of this and the rest of the show after the break!

Query on the Big O, what happened after Raw, pre-Raw dark match features FCW performer and star with new look, updates on Bryan and the Bellas, preview for Impact, Steiner continues tirade vs. TNA, Questions on Lesnar/Cena, press for Stooges in WWE, Hall arrested, Raw rating, and Foley/Ambrose angle continues

Today's news starts with a query:
1. Yes, The Big O (from Z! True Long Island Story) is really training as a wrestler to the best of my knowledge. His trainer, Mikey Whipwreck, worked in the original ECW and helped train a number of WWE and former TNA wrestlers (for instance, Ryder, Hawkins, Barreta, Amazing Red, and Jay Lethal), so he's got a good start. I haven't seen anything about WWE being interested in him yet, but it's important to note that he's still pretty early in training.

Dolph Ziggler took an Attitude Adjustment after Raw. There was no post-show dark match.

Damien Sandow beat JTG ahead of Raw. Sandow did have his pink tights and purple kneepads. I can't wait to see how that gets over on the main roster. Wrestling is theater to me.

Update: JTG also had a new look with tights instead of jeans, apparently at the request of management. Not quite sure how to interpret that. They could just want something new from him, but with talk of releases, they could also be thinking of cutting a guy they don't do much with.

The Bella Twins will be finishing up with WWE when their current deals expire on 4/30. Though there are other divas on the roster I'd rather see compete, I certainly see why they're used. They've done their jobs well. I hope WWE makes their last couple of weeks mean something for the talent who will still be sticking around.

Daniel Bryan's new T-shirt is already on back order. There's a certain interjection he should be saying to that news. If he can draw money, MAYBE WWE won't drop the ball on him.

After the break, I go into everything else from Tuesday, including a look at PWInsider.com's questions. Next up, the preview for the next Impact.

Smackdown thoughts- 4/10/12

Tonight, Smackdown goes Old School. A number of WWE Legends will be in attendance, including the hardcore icon Mick Foley. Could a certain FCW wrestler be confronting him tonight like he did on WrestleMania weekend? Also, Roddy Piper gets "Rowdy" with Piper's Pit. His guest? Former World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan! Could that be explosive? YES! YES! YES! Read on for my thoughts on all this and more after the break.

Mysterio update, Questions on Sheamus, Cena, Bryan, Dynamite Kid in the HoF, and Lesnar vs. Batista, Orton talks being dropped from Marine 3, more on Ambrose/Foley, TNA/Spike updates, Punk interview, more from Steiner, Riley talks ahead of Raw, Smackdown rating, Divas leaving WWE?, Miz interviewed in Moscow, and HHH returning to the ring

Rey Mysterio is pushing for a return in May. He had earlier hoped to be at WrestleMania. Those injuries and years of bumps are catching up to him unfortunately. I'm interested to see where he'll fit in to the post-Mania picture.

My take on PWInsider.com's Monday questions is as follows:
1. Normally, I'd say something about people complaining about not pushing new talent, then complaining when they do. However, this argument actually holds water. There are also similarities with the "Five Moves of Doom", but that could be said about a number of top wrestlers. This isn't the first time I've heard this hypothesis, and it's gaining ground with me. When he turns into a merchandise machine, then I'll be more behind it. I also agree that we need more individuality in talents in 2012.

2. While I think we are seeing some more focus on some other stars (Punk, Sheamus), Cena's still very much the top guy and that's why he's feuding with Rock and Lesnar. I can see how they'd think "hardcore fans want Cena to lose, so we'll have him lose to Rock and get taken out by Lesnar". Him being the "Yankees" of WWE is a huge part of why he's booed I think, but as long as he stays the poster boy for PG and merchandise sales, I don't see hardcore fans taking to him.

3. Not yet. He's WAY too entertaining as a heel. I do see him getting "turned by the fans" for being so good at what he does down the line, though. If that new shirt of his sells well, I think WWE would take notice of his talents.

After the break, I go into the rest of Monday's news and questions. Next up, does Dynamite Kid belong in the WWE Hall of Fame?

Raw thoughts- 4/9/12

Welp. Here comes the pain. Brock Lesnar's back in front of the WWE Universe and he's targeted John Cena. What will the former WWE and UFC Champion have in store for the top guy tonight on Raw? The road to Extreme Rules continues to heat up, and the (2012 version of the) Three Stooges are in attendance. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

DiBiase, Sr. does Easter message, another Olympian going pro?, Questions on interviews, Cena's look over the years, Rock's promos, Lesnar in TNA, and title changes on TV, and new advertising for Extreme Rules

Ted DiBiase, Sr. gave an Easter message at a church in Illinois. Video is upcoming here.

Former Olympic gold medalist (and "Biggest Loser" contestant) Rulon Gardner is considering wrestling professionally. It's all a matter of what he brings to the table at 40. He's obviously got quite the story to play off of if he does make it.

Easter Sunday brought new PWInsider.com questions. Here's my take on them:
1. I guess it depends on how you define journalism, reporting, interviewing, etc. as that's one of those "No True Scotsman" arguments to me. While I agree that a lot of people would want to read about WCW and TNA, this was basically a choice between getting no interview and getting a "limited" interview with one of the most important and controversial minds in the business. The topics he did talk about were relevant to wrestling and his take on them.

After the break, I go into everything else from Sunday. Next up, a question on John Cena's physique.

Sunday, April 8, 2012

Creative not at Mania afterparty, Sheamus "fined" for attacking ref, Questions on Diva Mania history, Sarita, Tamina recreating her father's splash, and Mania suggestions, WM28 reviewed by Huffington Post, CNN profiles Kaufman's wrestling stint, and a wounded Iraqi vet takes to wrestling

Members of the WWE Creative team were not allowed at the after-party for WrestleMania 28, despite being invited in past years. They understandably felt disrespected by this. They're an important part of putting the show together, so I don't see why they should be excluded.

To continue the angle from the end of Smackdown, Sheamus has been fined by John Laurinaitis for hitting the Brogue Kick on a referee. More consequences could be coming.

For my take on the Saturday PWInsider.com questions:
1. As they said, there are only so many things that they can feature. I don't consider that one of the greatest moments in the history of the event.

2. She's still in TNA. I haven't seen anything to suggest that that will be changing any time soon.

3. I personally think that's a pretty cool idea, but only to recreate that moment. However, it's dangerous, and I don't think they've built her up (or the Divas division as a whole) enough to justify doing it.

After the break, I go into everything else from Saturday. Next up, would Daniel Bryan use an old theme song of his?

Saturday, April 7, 2012

Strongbow obituaries, Questions on Taker, Backlund, and Flair at the Hall of Fame, Hogan responds to Steiner, Before the Bell for Lockdown, Miz-MTV footage, WWE releases expected, ESPN looks at Brock, Zbyszko rumor-killer, another Mania weekend story, new 3-hour Raw set, Impact Wrestling rating, Z! TLIS #61, identity of Ryback's opponent,

The New York Times ran an obituary on "Chief "Jay Strongbow.

Update: As did the Berkshire Eagle.

For my take on Friday's PWInsider.com questions:
1.  Given how successful it's been for so long, and how it's stayed relatively constant but still fresh over the years ("biker Taker" notwithstanding), he's definitely up there. The fact that he can still get such great ovations from the gong going off and lights dimming is quite impressive.

2. To add to what they said, Backlund did wrestle in TNA for a time. I don't see much of an upside to him facing Angle in 2012. They need to be using guys like Angle to elevate younger guys, not face 62-year-olds who aren't on the road for the company.

Nothing to add to 3 other than thinking their response was a little harsh.

4. This again... WWE voluntarily gave one of their performers a prime spot of promotion. To me, it's something like McDonald's putting over how great the Whopper is. What if some of the fans in attendance or watching on TV became interested in what Flair's up to and found out about TNA? Between getting no publicity from him not appearing and even a little FREE publicity from him attending, it seems like an easy choice. I agree about their take on how Flair and Vince see it.

Nothing to add to 5, so I go into everything else from Friday after the break.

Smackdown thoughts- 4/6/12

It's the first Smackdown after WrestleMania and we've got a new World Champion! How will the reign of Sheamus change things on Friday nights? Also tonight we have two main events: Randy Orton vs. Kane and Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

Bryan fans get their wish, Menounos talks Mania, Questions on RVD, Sable-WWE, "Cryme Tyme" heat, continuing momentum in WWE, and Bryan vs. Sheamus, Ryder promotes YouTube band, TNA signs new deal with Spike, Punk interview, latest on Hart/WWE lawsuit, video of Cena at the WM28 press conference, JR talks FCW and Mania, more Lesnar appearances announced, rapper talks about Cena, Punk update, WWE remembers Strongbow, more on Jericho, legends on house shows, Steiner the pipebomb, Angle update, who Roode's security was, and the updated line-up for Lockdown

WWE is in fact making a shirt playing off of the "YES!" chant for Daniel Bryan. If that sells well and he continues to get chants, I'd like to think they'd do more with him. On the other hand, if it doesn't sell well, they could write him off as someone who only appeals to a certain audience.

Maria Menounos talked about a certain rumor that arose from her WrestleMania match. I feel dumber for having reported on that.

PWInsider.com had some new questions on Thursday. Here's my take:
1. He re-signed with TNA, but I also remember a report not too long ago that he could be going back to WWE.

2. I guess it could happen, but I wouldn't count on it. I'm not sure how much interest there would be for one.

3. There were a lot of inside references on that show. I assumed it was that incident they were referring to. For those who are unaware, Cryme Tyme got in trouble for doing something off-script during a match with Cade and Murdoch on a live event. It was something to do with selling a referee's belt in relation to their "Cryme Tyme Shopping Network" gimmick if I'm not mistaken. I don't know any additional details, but that sounds kind of petty. I think they got over pretty well with their shenanigans, but WWE's capricious at times. And yes, Hawkins and Reks got heat for those videos.

After the break, I go into everything else from Thursday. Next up, can WWE continue the momentum they had in Miami?

Superstars and Impact Wrestling thoughts- 4/5/12

The main event for today's Superstars is R-Truth vs. Heath Slater. Who will come out on top when worlds collide? Then, on Impact Wrestling, Hulk Hogan addresses the TNA roster. Who is and isn't ready, brother? Also, the Motor City Machine Guns return and Eric Young will have his bachelor party. It's times like these I wish I drank. After the break, I go into my thoughts on both shows!

Hardy court cases continued, TNA stars work charitable indie show, more on Orton dropped from the Marines, HHH interview, Questions on wrestling "fishing tales", replacing Cena at Mania, what's next for Taker at Mania, and Rock besting Cena, Finlay update, more Mania weekend visitors, Miz appearance, more on Epico, Strongbow remembered, more on Lesnar's return including advertised PPV appearance, will Heyman return to WWE?, ESPN reporter claims big Mania and Rock news, Bourne update, McIntyre hurt?, more on Kamala, Jericho to miss WWE dates?, Cena to appear on SyFy show, and Punk and Rock on good terms?

Matt Hardy's court hearings have been moved to 5/14. Since I started covering this story before this year, I'll continue doing so. In general, I'm moving away from court cases and legalities unless they're major.

Abyss and ODB will be part of an independent show for benefit for a Humane Society.

Marines supported WWE's decision to remove Randy Orton from the 3rd "Marine" movie.

Triple H talked before his WrestleMania match.

PWInsider.com had new questions Wednesday:
1. Hogan for the same reasons they said. Angle never said he was going to be a bass player in Metallica.

2. I'll trust their answer, though there's really no telling with Vince sometimes. My pick would have been Miz since he wasn't doing anything else at that point and there was a ready-made angle there from last year..

After the break, I go into everything else from Wednesday. Next up, does TNA have a chance to catch WWE? And if so, how?

Thursday, April 5, 2012

NXT thoughts - 4/4/12

Today on NXT, Johnny Curtis and Maxine find out who kidnapped Matt Striker. Also, Kaitlyn faces Natalya and Michael McGillicutty takes on Derrick Bateman. There will surely be more as well. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens!

Wednesday, April 4, 2012

Query on Tajiri, what happened after Raw, details on Lesnar deal, 3-hour Raw details, Orton dropped from WWE movie, Questions on Taker not holding gold, ribbing Lilian Garcia, Hornswoggle in WWE '13, WWE DVDs on Demand, and "Are You Serious", Steiner correction, ex-Miss USA to join WWE, note on JR-Mania, more Mania celebrities, Del Rio at FCW, legends comment on Bryan, Regal added to UK tour, wrestlers complain about lack of screen-time, FCW talent blasts Foley in hotel (in what could be an angle), Hall of Famer passes away, Mania set note, more Mania press, ex-Women's Champ mends bridges with WWE, Smackdown dark match, Raw rating, guest stars for Raw, and what happened after Smackdown

First up, a query:
1. I don't see Tajiri returning to WWE, though I wouldn't rule it out either. He's currently setting up a new promotion in Japan if I'm not mistaken. The man with Lord Tensai on Raw was FCW's Sakamoto.

After Raw, John Cena left the ring to a negative reaction. In the dark main event, the team of Sheamus, Big Show, and Randy Orton beat Daniel Bryan, Cody Rhodes, and Kane. The crowd was quite solidly behind Bryan.

Update: Here's video of Bryan addressing the crowd. Fun stuff. Please let there be a comeback for this guy.

Brock Lesnar signed a one-year deal with WWE (going through WM29). He'll make a minimum of 2 appearances a month over the next year, plus additional appearances during Mania season. It's believed that he'll make 30-35 appearances over the next year. WWE has the ability to negotiate more in that timeframe if they so desire. That will be up to Lesnar. If I'm them, his first match back should be on PPV. Of course, how many of those appearances are matches will depend on his condition. There's a reason he retired from UFC after all.

The 3-hour Raw on 4/23 is being advertised as a "special extreme" edition of Raw.

Due to outrage over his dishonorable discharge in 1999, Randy Orton has been dropped from the 3rd "Marine" movie. I certainly see how people would be upset over that, even 13 years later.

I'll go into everything else from Monday after the break, starting with PWInsider.com's questions.

Tuesday, April 3, 2012

Mania press and notes, Questions on pushing Sheamus, Cole supporting Bryan, Brodus' dancers wrestling, and "X-Pac" heat for Cena, FCW update, WWE deals with Mania seating complaints, former WCW Champion released from TNA, Smackdown rating, Gabriel injured, wrestling-related death, Sheamus joins Twitter, a look at Bourne's injury, Raw dark match,

The Miami Herald covered WrestleMania, of course focusing on Rock.

As did CBS Miami. Good piece.

On to my take on PWInsider.com's Monday questions:
1. I also don't think that WWE can just push anyone to the top. Sheamus has a lot going for him and that makes it easier to push him. That being said, consistently putting someone in good positions with lots of screen time and hype certainly doesn't hurt in getting someone over!

2. I'm starting to think that these people don't actually watch the show. Cole didn't just suddenly start supporting Bryan. He's become a fan of his new attitude. It's not odd anymore since he's not just some "vegan goof" but instead a heelish crook that Cole would appreciate. The Anonymous Raw GM angle ended when HHH was put in charge of Raw as COO. The Board didn't need him/her anymore since HHH was in charge then.

3. As they said, they've been trained as wrestlers. Naomi was impressive on Season 3 of NXT. I haven't seen anything of Cameron outside of Tough Enough.  It could happen down the line, but I suspect that they'll stay dancers for the time being.

There's nothing to add to 4, so after the break I go into the "go away" heat Cena gets and everything else from Monday's news.

Raw thoughts- 4/2/12

Less than 24 hours ago, The Rock showed that "he's still got it" with a win over John Cena. The Undertaker ended an era with Triple H. C.M. Punk retained the WWE Championship against Chris Jericho. John Laurinaitis is now the GM of both Raw and Smackdown. It's the night after WrestleMania and anything can happen! Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

Queries on David Hart Smith and Shane McMahon/TNA, final WM28 hype and visitors, May PPV posters, Questions on wrestling in wrestling promotions, the anonymous Raw GM, the HoF, and Rock wrestling on Raw, AXXESS notes, FCW update, Brock and Batista to WWE?, Finlay denies WWE return, and the Mania pre-show match result

Some serious queries sent in for April Fools' Day:
1. David Hart Smith was released from WWE in 2011. I don't know of any plans for either major company to bring him back into the fold, though he did work on TNA's off-shoot in India.

2. I haven't seen anything to suggest that Shane McMahon is interested in getting back involved with wrestling, much less buying TNA. I know that's a popular "what if" scenario, but I don't see it happening. There's been surprisingly little in the news about him since he left WWE. TNA is currently run by Dixie Carter as President, on behalf of Panda Energy (who invested a lot of money into it).

As for the day's news:
The chairman of New Japan Pro Wrestling attended WrestleMania. He was accompanied by Funaki. That's kind of cool. I don't know if that means anything as far as any kind of agreement between the two sides.

Diamond Dallas Page was interviewed ahead of WrestleMania. Though I'm a fan of his, and his workout regimen, I don't think him just appearing to hit someone with his finisher would do much for anyone outside of himself.

Also to add to the Hall of Fame attendees list: Carlos Colon, Jim Duggan, Jimmy Hart, Tony Atlas, Bill DeMott, Meng/Haku (father of Camacho), Maryse, Wes Brisco, Gerry Brisco, and Sharmell. Cool list.

MTV covered Mike Tyson's Hall of Fame induction.

After the break, I go into everything else from WrestleMania Sunday. Next up, posters for TNA Sacrifice and WWE Over The Limit.

WrestleMania XXVIII thoughts

It doesn't get much bigger than this. Cena vs. Rock: Once In a Lifetime. Triple H vs. Undertaker: End of AN Era inside Hell in a Cell. C.M. Punk vs. Chris Jericho: Best in the World vs. Best In The World for the WWE Championship and the Royal Rumble winner Sheamus takes on the World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

WrestleMania XXVIII preview

Tonight's the biggest show of the year with title and grudge matches galore. Read on for how I'd book it.

Even more Mania hype/interviews/visitors, Otunga charity, Impact preview, Questions on Orton/Kane, HoF inductees, and Natalya, Theme for 4/10 Smackdown, WWE re-hires Finlay, Barrett update, new WWE show?, and some HoF notes

WWE continues to post a LOT of WrestleMania content on their YouTube page.

Batista is at least hanging out with WWE's Titus O'Neil (an old friend of his) in Miami, so take of that what you will.

David Otunga just earned some major "bro points" for this: He got a WrestleMania ticket and meet-and-greet access for a boy who moved to the U.S. following the Haiti earthquake a few years ago.

Edge talked in Toronto. Good read.

Some other names who are part of AXXESS (outside of the regular WWE roster): Roddy Piper, Rocky Johnson, Jimmy Hart, Jim Ross, Gerry Brisco, Paul Bearer, and Lita.

John Morrison talked about WrestleMania.

As did Shutdown Fullback.

After the break, I go into everything else from 3/30 including my take on PWInsider.com's questions. Next up, what's set for Thursday's Impact?
