Raw Reax - 5/8/17

Read on for my thoughts on last night's Raw.

- Ambrose/Miz/Maryse/Braun/Kalisto:
I just can't get into Dean's character. I guess I've outgrown the adolescent rebellion thing.

I wonder why Angle couldn't make it.

OH GOD NO. We got more than enough of Dean last week. I'd rather see Steph in charge this week than him.

NNNNOOOOOOO THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING ISN'T IT???

Wait... why is Stephanie making that call? I thought she was out of action after that big table bump.

Well, Miz being involved improves thing.

Based Strowman. Why can't HE be in charge??

Man. No need to permanently injure Reigns.

I don't know if we need another Roman/Braun match. They've left it at a pretty good place. At least hold off a few months.

Ooooooooh. Brock's got a number of potential challengers.

HAHAHAHAH Kalisto thinks he's going to be a threat to Braun?

WOW so wacky, Dean! A one-armed match! What will he think of next??

- Miz vs. Balor:
Fun start.

Finn's energy is explosive.

I love Maryse helping Miz out.

I hope Finn doesn't kick out of three SCFs or something. I think he's a great talent, but sometimes they go overboard with all the finisher spam.

This is pretty good so far.

Miz is such a fun heel.

HAHAHAHAHAH BRILLIANT.

Oh... well. So much for that.

Good win for Fin that more or less protected Miz.

- Alexa/Nia:
I love the Alexa/Nia dynamic.

Good for Jax to have her eyes on the prize. I hope she holds gold sooner rather than later. Nia vs. Asuka at WM34 would be good.

That was good. Glad to see new faces interacting in this division.

- Alexa vs. Mickie:
Mickie's held a lot of gold. Alexa's got a tough opponent there.

James has very much still got it.

That was fine for the time it had. Fun ending.

- Post-match:
Pretty good to keep things moving. Where the heck is Sasha in all of this?

- Miz/Ambrose:
This feud is going to go FOREVER.

OH YEAH Dean vs. Wyatt should be fun.

- Joe/Rollins:
I can only imagine what kind of war these two will have at Extreme Rules. Jesus.

- Braun/Kalisto/Roman:
Wow. Braun doesn't care about GMs, huh?

But like, don't you get paid to wrestle matches?

Braun really has it out for the Lucha Dragons.

Braun and Roman are both pretty rough after that big Payback fight.

This is pretty fun.

OUCH. Roman's bringing the fight.

Interesting direction...

- Golden Truth backstage:
I'd normally be OK with them having a "thank you" run, but the Raw tag team division has some pretty solid teams who deserve it more.

-- Tag Team Turmoil:
- Sheamus/Cesaro vs. Enzo/Cass:
This is fun. Just some big dudes slugging it out.

I enjoy both these teams for different reasons.

The one drawback to these is short match segments. Like, most weeks it takes a lot longer to beat one of these teams.

- Sheamus/Cesaro vs. Rhyno/Slater:
I really miss Rhyno and Heath's tag team segments. It's a real shame "Meet the Slaters" didn't air because it was HILARIOUS. It's on YouTube.

Sheamus and Cesaro are determined to get another shot at the titles.

Man. Rhyno was borderline ineffective there. Good showing from the Europeans.

- Sheamus/Cesaro vs. Club:
Eeeeeehhhhh.... Karl and Luke again.

Pretty fun so far. Big guys vs. big guys.

Ha. Sheamus and Cesaro are doing pretty well here despite it being their third match.

Wow. I didn't expect them to win three straight.

- Sheamus/Cesaro vs. G. Truth:
OK, Team Attitude Era. You've got a team that just fought three different teams. This should be a layup.

I do love the always smooth Goldust. Glad his work is at this level instead of his Impact days.

Pretty good so far.

Good strategy from the heels. They just might pull this out.

Come on, Truth! Do it for Little Jimmy!

Oh.... oh. So much for the comeback story. BIG win for Sheamus and Cesaro to go through four teams like that, though. Are we in for a Goldust/Truth feud? Surely one or both are on their way to retirement soon.

- Post-match:
Damn, guys. Didn't you get enough action in the gauntlet match??

Easy night for Matt and Jeff, eh?

- Seth vs. Joe:
This is already pretty fun.

I love a good brawl outside the ring.

Joe's a brutal guy. I'm glad he's getting to be this guy instead of Umaga 2.0.

This is fun. Two guys who are really, really solid.

Seth's level of energy is insane.

Fun to see this kind of match in WWE.

This is a damn FIGHT. As it should be.

Joe's doing some serious damage here.

That was good while it lasted. I expect we're in for a BIG blowoff at Extreme Rules that sadly won't be purchased by people who claim to want to see guys like Seth and Joe succeed in wrestling.

- TJP vs. Gallagher:
Both these guys are good.

I'm liking WWE's second crack at the cruiserweight division a lot so far, other than seeing the same people face off so much.

Nice surprise finish.

- Post-match:
Attacking someone after you've already beaten them is just downright evil.

I guess we're getting a STRAIGHT-UP TAG TEAM MATCH on 205 Live.

- Sasha vs. Alicia:
Poor Sasha's kind of the odd one out of the title picture now.

Fine work so far.

Yeah kind of an odd spot there.

Not a bad ending at all! Good to see something other than the Banks Statement ending things.

- Dean vs. Bray:
These two always work together well.

Good work so far.

Nice action between these two.

I'm liking the chaos among Dean, Bray, and Miz. Ambrose can be fun as the guy throwing caution to the wind.

NICE assist from Miz.

That was good!

- Post-match:
Hahaha Miz stands alone!

Good to see Miz closing an episode of Raw.

More wrestling coming up.
