Impact Wrestling Reax - 7/6/17

Read on for my thoughts on last night's Impact Wrestling.

- LAX clubhouse:
They've got quite the operation going on.

- Alberto/Lashley:
Alberto comes from quite the legacy, and has an impressive list of honors himself.

Alberto definitely had a big moment at Slammiversary.

Ooh, interesting open challenge to tease a special guest arriving.

Wow. Lashley not in the mood to party.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH that wall line.

I'd pop for Lashley's MMA people vs. the El Patron family.

If Dos Caras hits harder than Alberto, does that mean he could beat Lashley, too? That wasn't well thought out.

That rematch should be good.

- Commentators meeting:
Please say it's over and they got it all out of their system. That ending was great.

All fine by me.

- Dutt vs. Konley:
I hope Sonjay can win this one. It'd be embarrassing to lose after such a big battle with Low Ki.

Caleb doing his job well here.

Wow, Konley's trying to make a statement.

Fine quick win to establish the champ.

- Post-match:
Wow they didn't give Slammiversary much time to sink in before moving on to a new feud that doesn't even involve the guy who just fought the champ.

That felt a little sloppy, rushing a match and angle together like that.

- Edwards/Grado/VoW interview:
Well it looks like we're just going to rush together a whole bunch of stuff on this show.

- Edwards/Grado/VoW vs. Drake/Adnois/Bahh/Bokara:
Edwards already rebounding from Full Metal Mayhem to be in a meaningless eight-man tag. Not crazy about this.

Fine to get all these people on the show, I guess?

Poor Grado right back to work and he takes a big ass-kicking in his first match back!

Eddie NEEDS a feel-good mood after all he's been through lately.

Fine enough to put Eddie over.

- Park/Grado:
Is Joseph recruiting a new faction? I'd love to see more of Shark Boy.

Uh-oh. Did Grado's visa not get approved after all!?

- Sydal vs. Braxton:
Random babyface X-Division match. Ugh.

Oh, I guess Braxton is kind of a heel for some reason now.

Sydal back doing his thing after his adventure in Japan.

- Post-match:
Well this is out of nowhere. Not crazy the random sudden turn after ALL THE WORK THEY DID GETTING THE DUO OVER AS FACES.

- Even more LAX:
Hmmmm.... interesting. I do like there being a massive faction.

- Super X Cup hype:
Hey, people wanted a return of the X-Division, so here you go.

We're seeing GFW's global philosophy in full effect, I see. Not a bad idea. I wonder if ACH will stick around more regularly after leaving ROH and not ending up in NXT/205 Live.

I think they realized they've got a bunch of relatively unknown talent available and they want to give a lot of them chances at once.

- Abraham vs. Dezmond:
Ugggghhhhh more random flippy guys. Wrestling is really missing out on having characters these days.

Not bad work here.

Fine to show off athleticism.

- Gail interview:
Gail has really made a legacy for herself in the Knockouts division. It's going to be tough to come close to what she's done.

- X Cup hype videos:
I am glad they're not just throwing these guys together with no introduction.

- Moose/EC3:
Wow, they're rolling out the red carpet for Naomichi.

Right!??? EC3 has a valid gripe there.

But like how did Marufuji earn a title shot when he lost at Slammiversary?

- Sienna vs. Rebel:
Rebel's jumping in the deep end of the pool fighting Sienna. Also how in the world did she get a title shot?

OH SHIT that counter to the handspring elbow was really something special.

I like Sienna's power coming into play.

Rebel's really improved. I'm glad to see it. I figured she would have retired.

Hey, what does KM have to do with any of this?? Focus, Rebel!!

Yeah, don't give Sienna that much of an opening.

GO BACK TO THE CIRCUS WITH KNUX AND THE FREAK!

- Alberto vs. Lashley:
Paige is referenced a lot for someone who hasn't been on TV in a year!

Alberto getting aggressive makes sense against such a beast of an opponent.

Both men can deliver at a high level.

Lashley taking out his frustration for that big title loss. I don't blame him!

Good counter to the spear.

This is pretty solid.

Cool to see him pull out the 619 after the big wars with Rey.

I'm enjoying this a lot.

I like the story they're telling. Two top guys showing how it's done.

Funny for Lashley to try to steal Alberto's finisher.

NICE spear catching Alberto off the ropes. I've loved watching Lashley in this company.

Oh that could have been it for Alberto's title reign.

- Post-match:
BBBRRRRRAAAAATTTTTTTTT 5150 all over GFW.

I like this idea. They can turn Alberto heel if they want to; either way, we've got quite the potential story going on.

More wrestling coming up.
