TNA Lockdown preview

TNA's got another PPV tonight, with such stars as Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Bobby Roode, and James Storm in action. Not only are there several grudge and title matches, but as the name suggests, everything will take place inside of a steel cage. Read on for how I'd book the show.
A bit of a disclaimer before I begin: I could not care much less about some things in TNA right now. At a time where talents are getting reboots and introductions in WWE, TNA feels very stale in places with wrestlers who have done pretty close to the same thing for years now. Not that there aren't bright spots (and not that WWE is completely immune from this problem), but overall I'm feeling somewhat apathetic about the product as a whole. So, while I'll try to make this the best that I can, I don't think TNA's problems could be addressed overnight. Since this is the case, things could be kind of sloppy in places. I'll explain my reasoning as I go:

If they feel that an 8th match is necessary, my pick is Eric Young and ODB successfully defending against a frustrated Sarita and Rosita. Not because I personally want to see it, but because it would make sense as an 8th match and would have some backstory.

Gail Kim retains against Velvet Sky when Madison Rayne looks to slip in some brass knuckles or something for Sky to use to beat Gail. Sky doesn't want to use them and questions Rayne coming to the ring. Gail takes advantage of this to use them to retain. No DQs in a cage match, so weapons are fine. There's nothing really going on in the Knockouts division other than Gail being champion, so this would add a story. Gail vs. velvet vs. Madison next month, since there's now an issue between all three of them.

Devon retains against Robbie E. After the match (and once he's outside of the cage), he's jumped by both Robbies. Devon vs. Robbie T next. This is another area of the card where barely anything is happening. Devon's 39 and has been on TV for over a decade. He should be used to elevate some newer guys. If he wasn't already champion or hadn't only been for a month, Robbie E would be going over.

Samoa Joe and Magnus retain against the Machine Guns when Hernandez and Anarquia come to ringside and try to get in the cage (distracting one of the Guns to take the double-team finisher). The Guns have only been back for 2 weeks, and there's no reason to take the titles off of the champions now. Both teams are babyfaces. So, yeah, kind of a bind. Things continue from there with a triple threat feud.

I don't see any reason to end Crimson's undefeated streak now, so he beats Matt Morgan. The point should be to show that the younger guy can hang with the veteran. Crimson holds on to the tights to win or something to add some heat for a rematch.

Hardy beats Angle due to his injury. He hits the Swanton on his leg to write him off (if that's feasible) so he can recover. Hardy's next opponent is D'Angelo Dinero. Seriously, why aren't they using that guy?

There's one person in Lethal Lockdown who isn't considered an active wrestler. Guess who's taking the pinfall? Garett pins Eric to end a match that's carried by the more experienced wrestlers. I can't really think of anything else to do with Eric Bischoff the character at this point, so write him off for the time being. Maybe absence will make the heart grow fonder. Though Garett gets the pinfall, he gives credit where it's due (his partners).

Finally, Storm beats Roode in a barn-burner. All good things must come to an end. Storm's the guy who finally "catches" Roode and becomes the new champion. Rematch at Sacrifice.

That's it for how I'd book Lockdown. I'll be back for the real deal later tonight. Thanks for reading!
