Post-Lockdown health update for Angle, Questions on Vince having Twitter, a Cena parody in TNA, indies, wrestlers' BS, and giving Brock a weakness, Lockdown theater errors, HHH talks WWE-Russia, Edge interview, Impact preview, Bischoff update, more on Hogan/NHL, Bryan talks being vegan, anti-bullying meets baseball, WM28 breaks box office records, 4/16 Raw dark match featuring FCW stand-out, DGUSA wrestler at Raw, Austin teases another match, Foley blogs about Ambrose, Guest Booker with Sullivan and Sapolsky, and what happened after Raw

After Lockdown, Kurt Angle noted on Twitter that he would be taking a break from TNA, presumably to heal after his injuries. As of 4/16, he intends to make the next PPV.

PWInsider.com had new questions on 4/16. Here's my take on them:
1. It could also be because he's pretty busy as Chairman and CEO of the company. He's got a lot of responsibilities behind-the-scenes that would seemingly occupy a lot of his time. But I trust their answer as well.

2. While I definitely see that idea getting over with at least part of the audience, I think it might be better for them to focus on their own wrestlers and characters instead of taking shots at WWE. As much as I loved the Gillberg character, it didn't do nearly as much to help WWE past WCW as did building Rock, Austin, etc..

3. I'm not exactly an expert on indies, but I have seen that ROH and Dragon Gate/Evolve feature young guys and some veterans, wisely using the latter to elevate their current crop.

After the break, I go into everything else from 4/16, as I begin the long road to catching up on the news I missed. Next, why do some wrestlers make up such tall tales like playing bass for Metallica?
4. Ouch. They could also actually believe those things happened or be "working people" for some reason. Tough to say. They keep getting chances to spout such things off, so obviously someone's still falling for it.

5. That's interesting at least, though I don't think they should do an angle off of that just because that was the perception from UFC, since presumably there are at least a fair number of people who didn't see what he did there. It wouldn't be my first choice on how to book him, but it's at least a well thought-out theory. That said, I agree that Cena being the underdog for once and not winning all of the time would be something fresh. And if anyone needs something fresh to do, it's Cena.

Due to some sort of technical issues, some planned screenings of the Lockdown PPV were canceled and attendees were given refunds. That's unfortunate, since that presumably gave fans a cheaper alternative to catch the show. Given how that event turned out in some places, a discount like that would be appropriate.

Triple H commented in a piece putting over WWE's live event in Russia. I see international markets becoming increasingly important to WWE in the years to come.

Edge was interviewed for over 20 minutes at Wizard World.

A major announcement by Hulk Hogan was teased for the first episode of Impact after Lockdown. I'm keeping my spoiler-free stance until I catch the shows to keep my responses to things in-line with how they would have been if I was seeing them at the scheduled time.

The plan as of 4/16 was to keep Eric Bischoff off of TNA TV. He'll remain working behind-the-scenes. They've done about all they can (should) do between him and his son, and him and Hogan, so that's for the best.

Here's more on Hulk Hogan's recent video appearances in the NHL. And now you know...

Daniel Bryan's vegan diet was profiled. I might have to give that a go someday given how well it's done for him.

WWE stars will appear at a Brooklyn Cyclones game in conjunction with their anti-bullying efforts.

WWE put out a press release on its record-breaking WrestleMania gross. That's amazing. Hopefully from that success they take away the important of building matches, positioning top guys, etc..

FCW's Dean Ambrose beat Alex Riley before the 4/16 Raw, which is kind of weird since the angle is that they sent him home from Smackdown. If it means I get to see what all the fuss is about sooner (and it further sets him up for success), I guess I'm fine with it.

A DGUSA wrestler by the name of PAC was backstage at the 4/16 Raw. WWE had interest in him, so it's possible he got a tryout before the show. If WWE does want to sign him, the head booker of DGUSA is willing to let him out of his contract.

Stone Cold Steve Austin gave an interview promoting a movie release of his, and he brought up the potential for another match or two. He has the right attitude about a comeback. It should have meaning.

The bizarre Foley/Ambrose angle (?) continues with Foley blogging about the FCW prospect. I'm not sure what's really going on here, but I'm intrigued. I like him putting over Miz and Ziggler, too.

Kayfabe Commentaries has a trailer for a DVD with a very intriguing premise. An old-school and new-school booker tackle the hypothetical scenario of Vince McMahon buying TNA. Very cool idea.

After the 4/16 Raw, John Cena sold the mist attack from Lord Tensai. Then, C.M. Punk retained the WWE Championship against Chris Jericho via DQ when Daniel Bryan interfered. This led to interferences by Sheamus, Cody Rhodes, Big Show, and Del Rio. As is generally the case, the babyfaces stood tall to close the taping.

That's all for 4/16's news. 4/17's should be up today as well. More to come when I'm able.
