Smackdown and 205 Live Reax - 3/14/17

Read on for my thoughts on last night's Smackdown and 205 Live.

-- Smackdown:
- Bryan on the phone:
Nice to advertise a few segments.

- Bryan/AJ:
If only we could get Bryan vs. AJ at Mania!

Dude, why isn't Shane at the show he's a boss of? That's not a good example to send.

- Announcers:
Well this is an odd change. I'd rather it be Ranallo and Phillips, but I think JBL has a job at the desk as long as King did if he wants it.

- AJ promo:
Breathing into the mic always cracks me up for some reason.

I mean, AJ's not wrong. He was WWE Champion and never got a one-on-one rematch.

Styles making good points.

At least AJ's not in the Andre battle royal.

Poor AJ being mistreated by Shane. He might should see if NJPW will take him back.

- Becky vs. Natalya:
Nice start to a match I feel like we've seen 100 times now.

Becky's so trusting!

Good work before break.

Oh MAN that Michinoku Driver probably hurt them both!

Natalya's just hard for me to buy as a heel. She works hard at it, though.

I'm liking this one.

Good ending!

- Post-match:
Not a bad way to put the Princess of Staten Island back on the map.

- AJ backstage:
Imagine waiting on your boss this long! AJ wants to work, damn it!

- Carmella interview:
I don't even think Carmella and James think she has a chance to win at Mania.

- MizTV:
As funny of a heel move as it is, Miz as his own guest is getting stale.

I think this feud is entirely to give Cena and Nikki a big happy moment at Mania before both take time off. And Cena proposing in the middle of the ring after a win would be HUGE.

The "Nikki is dating John" thing is getting kind old for heels to knock.

I don't expect Maryse and Nikki to put on a classic, but they'll do what they need to do.

Blah blah blah blah Nikki's promo.

Bryan pretty effectively moved the focus from his feud with Miz to Cena and Nikki's match.

- AJ still waiting:
I guess Shane can blame the weather, but everyone else made it to the show!!

- Mickie vs. Alexa:
Nice collar and elbow spot.

Mickie could be a great trainer once she retires.

Good work so far. Could Alexa follow in Crazy Mickie's footsteps?

Good aggression here.

Mickie's really solid!

Nice DDT counters and rollups.

Good match!

- AJ/Shane/heels/Bryan:
I mean, Shane's more than an hour late to a show he's the boss of. I can't blame AJ for being upset.

I'd watch a crazy parking lot brawl between these two. There are all sorts of things for Shane to jump off and go through!

Shane was wrestling at Wrestlemania before Impact was even a thing.

Man, AJ's WWE career only lasted 14 months!!

- Ziggler vs. Mojo:
Man, Mojo might actually have a chance against Dolph given how much Ziggler has fallen. He might want to see if Swagger wants to do a tag team on the indies.

Hahaha I'd be OK with Mojo sonning Dolph.

Wow, Rawley's making Dolph look like Ellsworth.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA They're Swaggering Dolph pretty hard.

- Neville promo:
Good enough, although I think he's starting to be overexposed.

- Orton/Bray:
This has been a great long-term angle but it's been lost on a lot of people that THIS WAS THE PLAN THE WHOLE TIME.

Randy definitely got in the Eater of Worlds' head.

It's weird that we finally have an answer to Sister Abigail. I'm conflicted on that. I also love the implication Bray didn't really love his Family members.

Bray's now lost his whole family. Braun, Erick, Luke, Randy, AND Abigail.

Ehhhh not a fan of that direction for Abigail being a demon or whatever.

That was REALLY weird.

- Corbin promo:
I'm all for a crazy battle between Baron and Dean at Mania.

- A. Alpha vs. Usos:
As much as I've enjoyed Smackdown, the tag division has been kind of out of focus lately.

Fine work to start.

I know these two teams could really tear it up if they got the stage to do so.

I continue to enjoy the freshness of the Usos as heels.

Gable's technique and athleticism are great. Jordan's really solid, too, but Gable's at a whole different level.

Not bad at all!

- Shane promo:
Oh. So much for that whole fired thing. That didn't last long!

-- 205 Live:
- Main event hype:
This could be quite the match.

- Neville promo:
Hahahahahahaha Neville burying himself for his babyface run.

Neville is good when he gets to be more than Flippy McGuy.

I'm liking the building of the champ.

- Mustafa vs. Gulak:
Will these two be in the Andre battle royal? The other cruisers need something to do Mania weekend.

Nice use of the ropes by Mustafa.

Gulak does a good job as the foil for more high-flying opponents.

Each man is talented in his own style.

I'm liking the human chess match here.

Good ending!!

- Gulak promo:
It's almost like "workrate" isn't as important as angles. He does do great work in the ring.

What's Drew going to do to change things? Bring in some of his friends from other companies? That could be cool.

- Ariya/Dar backstage:
That was OK, I guess. I do think the show is a little too competition-based instead of having more angles. But that's allegedly what the fans WWE's trying to court with this show want.

- Gallagher/Swann vs. Noam/Ariya:
I love Jack, but I'd be fine with some other faces in the mix.

Fine action.

Swann's agility is something else!

That wasn't bad at all. The jumping Frankensteiner was pretty impressive.

- Noam/Alicia:
This could end up being pretty fun. I wonder if Cedric's sending the gifts. He's been out of the spotlight lately.

-- Elimination Match:
- Fall One:
Kendrick knows what's up. Let the other people tire themselves out!

I'm liking Austin vs. TJ.

Good work so far.

Nice sequences early.

What's with so many people getting sent to the floor? Hell, they should be teaming up to get an early elimination.

WHY IN THE FUCK WOULD YOU BREAK UP A COVER IN AN ELIMINATION MATCH? Let Tozawa pin him!

Akira's got skills.

And here's the "everyone does a big dive" part of the match.

NICE running knee spot.

Fine end to the first fall.

-- Fall Two:
Ha. Tony's kind of a sore loser.

That was good!

-- Fall Three:
Brian trying to get right to the final two! I don't blame him.

Good Tower of Doom spot. It made sense.

This is pretty good!

HAHAHAHA nice elimination.

-- Fall Four:
Man, TJ's not too pleased, either!!

Good ending sequence. Aries and Kendrick are great.

More wrestling coming up.
