Raw injury upates, backstage response to Cena promo, HHH/Taker go long, backstage visitors, Questions on DiBiase vs. Hunico, Otunga, changing booking, and Christian, GQ looks at RKK, new TNA Gut Check, Lockdown poster, new DiBiase site, 2/17 Smackdown rating, and what happened after the live Smackdown

Dolph Ziggler was ok after being checked out by medical staff post-Raw. He took a legitimately hard bump in the main event.

Wade Barrett suffered a dislocated elbow in that same match. Very unfortunate. Let's stop with some of the unnecessarily hard spots/bumps.

Update: he'll be undergoing an MRI, and will miss at least 6-8 weeks. No Mania sadly. That's a damned shame given the work he's put in these past 2 years. Hopefully he can make up for it at future Manias.

Quite a few workers in WWE shared the opinion of John Cena's worked-shoot promo. I can really see their argument, as I've seen a good deal of agreement from fans. The target audience for his return as I see it is the older and casual audiences, which generally aren't the ones talking at length about this kind of thing and its effect on business. Also in that link are details on Raw being moved around because of a segment going long, and some backstage visitors. I think Saturn would be a great "case study" for saving your money and staying away from drugs in addition to his talents as a worker.

PWInsider.com has some new questions for Tuesday, and of course we start off negative. Ask exaggerated questions and give bad responses, and I'll continue to look down on it.
1. The wrist injury has added fuel to the feud. DiBiase's starting to pick up steam with the crowd, and Hunico's pulling out some impressive offense, so internet fan belief here isn't fact. I do think it's about time to add something new (Camacho competing and/or segments involving the Posse parties) to the mix, though.

2. I echo their sentiments. Remember that they're "not a wrestling company" concerned with pushing the top in-ring competitors. I think we could be seeing him around for a while.

After the break, I go into the rest of the day's news and questions, starting with changing the wrestling business.

3. Now this is a rant I can get behind. I can say from personal experience that a good deal of people calling for the return of those names didn't see all of their work the first time and are just throwing those names out there because they hear how great things used to be. Ditto for the Attitude Era and ECW in general. They complain that they want the Attitude Era back, but complain when some of the top AE names take up screen-time. They conveniently ignore some of the really stupid, bad angles we dealt with then- ("choppy choppy your pee-pee", transvestites, etc.) and some of the really great angles we've had in the past couple of years (Straight Edge Society, Punk-Mysterio, Jericho's heel run). The Attitude Era gets nostalgia goggles, but WCW is seen as a 100% failure, etc.. I'm guilty of looking for the "good old days" at times, too. As is the person who answered this there.

4. I'd personally be pretty behind it, as I've always been a fan of his. My guess is that they wanted to keep him as a heel. They needed to replace a babyface, so maybe they decided to elevate someone who's worked pretty hard and gotten really over with his character? If it pans out with them making money and Santino showing what he can do, it might work out for the better that they didn't take the easy way out.

Nothing to add to 5, thank goodness.

GQ (yes, THAT GQ) looked at Ring Ka King. Sounds quite intriguing. I hope that works out.

Here are details for the next TNA Gut Check, searching for their next perforners.

Here's the poster for TNA Lockdown. Pretty cool. Just straight-forward, two men fighting in a cage for the World Championship. I think there's another business doing pretty well promoting that kind of thing?

Ted DiBiase opened a new website to promote himself and the Posse parties. I think we could be looking at the next "Ryder Revolution". Smart work.

The 2/17 episode of Smackdown dropped to a 1.97 rating. I don't know how much of that can be attributed to Orton's injury and people being especially upset with the battle royal spoilers, but I'm sure it had an impact.

After Smackdown went off the air, Daniel Bryan retained the World Championship over Big Show via DQ due to Cody Rhodes' interference. Punk evened things up, then took Bryan out via G2S. Show KO'd Rhodes to send the fans home happy.

That's all for Tuesday's news. More to come tomorrow. Thanks for reading!
