Smackdown and 205 Live Reax - 6/20/17

Read on for my thoughts on last night's Smackdown and 205 Live.

-- Smackdown:
- Bryan/women:
They've succeeded in making women's MITB a big deal. They wouldn't have gotten this level of attention with a straightforward babyface win. Genius move.

- Carmellsworth promo:
I was kind of hoping Carmella would just gloat that she won instead of acknowledging the circumstances.

I'd pop for Carmella cashing in and winning. She'd get a lot of heat, which is her goal. Not everything is about "you deserve it" chants.

This is good.

I love Carmella pointing out how others have interfered.

I really hope WWE runs with this. GET THAT HEAT.

- Charlotte/Bryan:
Charlotte can get a title match anytime she wants as it is. Queen Carmella slaying all the haters already.

- New Day promo:
They don't seem all that upset they're not our. SMACK. DOWN. WORLD. TAG. TEAM. CHAMPIONS!

Fine enough, although it seems like they'll inevitable be champs again either way.

- Big E vs. Jimmy:
Good luck with that Irish whip, Uce.

I'd like to see Big E hold a world title at some point.

Nice action here.

Jimmy was doing well, but Big E's a machine when he gets to show it.

Sometimes showboating doesn't pay off, Big E!

Oh come on, you're going to bail AGAIN??

Fine enough ending, although I hope the Usos don't get shafted in all this.

- Naomi/Lana:
Wow, everyone's talking about Carmella and Ellsworth tonight. Hoes be jealous.

Lana can only go down from here. I hope she earns her place as a main roster wrestler.

- Orton interview:
Ha. Randy probably got flashbacks to leading Legacy.

I hope Rusev ruins Randy's quest for revenge.

- Ziggler vs. Nakamura:
Good start from a technical standpoint.

This is heating up well enough.

I'd like to see Dolph really change his ring game. He's an amazing athlete, but I'd like to see something fresh from him. The definition of insanity in full effect here.

Solid back-and-forth.

Shinsuke can turn it up pretty well.

Good action here.

This is progressing nicely. Both men know what they're doing.

Hahahaha so much for Zig Zag ending a match.

That was a really good ending stretch.

- Bryan/Sami/Becky:
Zayn actually reminds me of pre-Yes Bryan. I hope Sami gets something that makes him more than "guy who wrestles really well."

Man. Carmella has SO MANY HATERS RIGHT NOW. Glad to see them pushing her.

Becky has every right to be upset with all she's been through.

- Owens/AJ/Gable:
I love Kevin's "it's everyone's fault but mine" approach. Very true to real-life heels.

Kevin trying to paint himself as the American hero is great. People will cheer pretty much anyone who does that schtick.

Well, if he's not going to be part of Team Angle, I guess he can be part of Team AJ?

- Owens vs. Gable:
This should be special.

Gable's technical ability is unreal.

Ha. Owens just countering with pure aggression.

This has been good so far.

WHY DO WE NOT SEE MORE OF AMERICAN ALPHA???

That Chaos Theory was a thing of beauty.

Nice match.

- Bryan/Bros:
Ryder is going to pull a Big Cass on Mojo so hard.

Oh, or maybe both of them will turn heel.

- Women's MITB fallout:
I really hope they do the right thing here. Carmella should cuff herself to the briefcase and give it to Ellsworth when she's in the ring.

I'd watch Ellsworth vs. Bryan so hard.

Next week will be pretty big. I just hope they didn't just defang Carmellsworth in the process. No one else really needs the briefcase.

Welp, so much for that. Carmella already lost her heat to two great wrestlers who don't need the rub. They should have built The Princess of Staten Island for everything she's worth until fans BEGGED for someone to take her out.

- Harper vs. Jinder:
Luke's someone who can "go." That's for sure.

Harper has something to prove here.

Jinder actually reminds me of Orton in his ring work now that I think about it.

Jinder's going to have to wear the monster down to win.

Luke is really fired up. Glad to see it. He's in there with the WWE Champion.

I'm liking this well enough, although I can see why Luke would be the one someone would rather put the title on in 2017.

Hahahaha Baron just toying with them.

Harper winning with a rollup would have been WEAK.

Nice enough to continue the Jinder experiment. They need to give him the stage to succeed.

- Post-match:
I don't know what Jinder has on these two, but they're very willing to take an ass-kicking for him!

Oh, Orton's pretty upset.

Good to see Jinder escape before getting too much of a thrashing.

Rematch on July 4?

-- 205 Live:
- Swann/Tozawa/Titus:
Titus the businessman!

MILLIONS OF YEN MILLIONS OF YEN MILLIONS OF YEN MILLIONS OF YEN MILLIONS OF YEN

Apollo turning on Akira would be interesting.

- Gallagher vs. Nese:
Fine start, but it's the same guys doing the same things every week on this show.

Both men are definitely talented. WWE picked up some real solid names for this.

Good work from both sides.

Fine so far.

I like the combination of Gallagher's fun and everything Nese has.

Jack trusted the wrong guy!

Fun enough.

- Noam/Alicia/Cedric/Ariya:
THIS IS GOING TO STILL BE GOING IN 2037 AGGGGHHHHHH

Stop the pain!!!

- Gulak promo:
Note that only heels should try to start their own chants. It's lame when faces do it.

This is pretty funny.

DIVE.

- Gulak vs. Mustafa:
Good start.

I like both men being fired up. This is a feud!

Gulak's pretty solid.

Simple formula but it gets the job done.

Mustafa can fly well without it being overkill.

Pretty good ending sequence.

- Gallagher/Aries:
Uh-oh. Is Austin turning heel ALREADY?

Interesting. This could be a good feud. Aries is already a player ready for bigger things, and Jack's getting there.

- Swann/TJP:
I do like these guys getting stories with development.

TJP vs. Swann at GBOF?

- Neville vs. Swann:
Neville's a veteran and it shows.

OUCH Rich holding onto his ear like that.

Nice shoulder tackle spot.

This is going pretty well.

Good stuff surrounding the teased superplex.

These two tell good stories together.

I'm enjoying this all around.

I like Neville using his environment.

Oh, man. Neville wants to send a message to the former champ.

Swann sucking it up.

The Phoenix Splash is amazing.

Good ending!

- Post-match:
I know Titus would love to represent the cruiserweight champion.

More wrestling coming up.
