NXT and Main Event Reax - 5/4/16

Read on for my thoughts on last night's NXT and Main Event.
NXT:
Joe as NXT Champion really elevates the title. Not that Balor was just some guy, but Joe was World Champion in two other promotions.

We TNA now. For those of you who haven't seen EY in a while, he's earned a reputation as someone who will go to violent lengths to win and retain championships. As such, he's been one of the high points of TNA the past few years.

Two former TNA Champions battling for NXT's top prize is a pretty big deal. I hope Young becomes a fixture in NXT and WWE.

- Tessa vs. Nia:
I like a good mastadoness who can believably use power and size to dominate.

Am I the only one who wants Charlotte to make a Horsewomen spinoff with Tessa? I know there are some females in the Windham line who could also join the ranks. Or they can just have Charlotte team with Tessa.

Tessa got DESTROYED. Maybe the Anoa'i family has a higher power level than the Windhams?

- Tye vs. Aries:
I'll hand it to Tye. He doesn't let his win/loss record get him down. He's a talented guy.

Good work early. Both men have solid wrestling foundations.

Austin's incredibly fluid in the ring. He can definitely be a top player for NXT.

Really good for the time it had. I think Dillinger showed some impressive work.

- Hype Bros vs. Revival:
The Revival making a statement on Ryder. Talk about stomping a mudhole and walking it dry.

I enjoy Mojo's constant energy and connection to the crowd.

Nice match to put the former champions back on the map.

I like Alex Riley's douchebag persona. He helps round out NXT as someone with WWE experience whom fans will actually boo.

- Jose vs. Noah:
Jose's clearly experienced in dancing rather than a wrestler playing a dancer. Good to see. Maybe he can bring back Fandango's original dance partner?

I like Jose becoming serious once the match heated up.

Good thing Jose has a stronger finisher now. As much fun as the wind-up punch is, it's not necessarily a match-ender.

Good Aries promo, although the banana thing seemed like some kind of rib.

I'm glad we've got time to absorb Balor's loss. This episode's about Joe and EY.

- Joe vs. EY:
One great thing about TNA is these two got a lot of experience working what's more or less the WWE style, including performing for TV under time limits. So, WWE's able to pick up valuable veterans they don't have to teach from scratch.

Good pacing, and a lot of fight from both men.

EY's a straight-up solid wrestler. He's really valuable in the regard of putting matches together and working with different styles.

SWEET elbow drop from Young.

Surprised to see Eric tease a piledriver. I don't see WWE allowing someone to use that move given Taker's finisher.

BAH GAWD REF BREAK THE DAMN HOLD.

So, Joe vs. Roode in a few weeks?

Main Event:
- Titus vs. Sandow:
Well here's someone we haven't seen in a singles match in a while!

I missed Titus' signature offense.

Sandow's a solid all-around worker.

Sandow would make a good fourth Outcast or replacement for Konnor or something.

Kind of a weird promo from Stardust, but that's what he does. I think I'd be OK if he went back to being Cody Rhodes, since he's not really going anywhere as Stardust.

- Viktor vs. Crews:
This is going well enough so far. We know Crews is really athletic; he just needs to show that in more longer matches.

Good to see Viktor being able to show what he can do. I'm glad he's able to be valuable without his partner.

That was fun for the time it had.

- Cara vs. Corbin:
I really enjoy Corbin. He doesn't need to be fancy to be effective.

Sin Cara is always pretty impressive, going back to when he was Hunico.

That was solid. I wonder if they'll build to Crews vs. Corbin; that could be fun to see what they can both do at the big stage of WWE.

- Stardust vs. Ziggler:
Nice athletic backgrounds from both men.

Ziggler always gives 110%. The man bumps like crazy.

Nice for Stardust to work on the arm.

Both men are really impressive here.

I wish that would have gone even longer! They really turned it up there at the end.
