WWE Q4 2016 finances Reax

Read on for news and commentary on yesterday's WWE financial announcements.

WWE released their earnings report for the final months of 2016, also looking at their total business for the year:

- BIG increase in revenue compared to last year as the company continues to expand into new waters. It's continuing to pay off.

- International expansion for the Network is going well, although they've still got a lot of work to do to get numbers up to what they want them to eventually be.

- Someone is actually paying them to make Total Bellas. That means a lot more than 205 Live's place in the world. Whether you love it or hate it, it's just there to theoretically boost Network subscriptions.

- Wow. LOTS of money coming in in 2016, already beating a record high year in 2015. Keep that in mind next time people mention old school fans "not watching anymore" or whatever.

- Good to see their international expansion doing well.

- Yeah, this was a landmark year for WWE from a business perspective.

- They expect even bigger things for 2017! They continue to grow as a worldwide media player.

- Look at that TV money. Those new international deals are doing well.

- Interesting that revenue from EMEA is down. I see why they want to expand in the UK.

- So, they're doing more events, but not getting as many people at them.

- They're also REALLY kicking up international prices in order to make up for lower attendance. They're going to need to be careful with all that.

- They're expecting more competition in the markets they run in. I assume that's at the indie and international level.

WWE had a conference call discussing the earnings report:
- Ummm, yes. WWE's definitely giving Network subscribers a LOT for their money. Especially considering how much one PPV used to cost.

- 205 Live being its own touring brand would be BIG. Having that AND NXT out there means a lot of opportunities for a lot of guys who aren't part of the main roster.

- Yeah 101k is a stretch like Andre being 600 lbs or whatever. It's part of the work.

- Getting big advertisers is a top priority for the company, hence wanting to stay PG.

- More international talents is a big investment, and its likely going to continue with tournaments in Asia and Latin America.

- WHOA. That's a huge amount of live shows.

- Great news for action figures sales.

- It's tough trying to appease the hardcore fans, because they'll do everything they can to get content for free.

- Looks like big things are coming for Europe.

- Yes, more content in other languages and downloadable content will be key going forward.

- We could see "WWE UK" "WWE Asia" and "WWE Latin America" doing their own thing in future years, largely independent of Raw, Smackdown, and NXT. That's really big.

- There are only so many big legends they can plug in for high-profile matches in the future. That's something to keep in mind going forward.

- I definitely think the brand extension can succeed for the reasons they mentioned. When a talent needs a fresh environment, they can be moved to the other show. That applies to NXT and UK talents, too.

More wrestling coming up.
