What happened after SSD, SSD attendance, why Super J Cup is in U.S., NJPW Australia note, Impact names working AAA, more on Alberto's new promotion, another Lucha Bros-U.S. update, Impact attendance, more on AEW's new hire, why Fyter Fest is free, more on why Cage wasn't at DON, Y2J note, WWE looking for an Emmy, NXT UK expected to sign popular star, top WWE names not at TV, top WWE name hurt, why NXT stars are changing names, Hidden Gem has modern commentary, WWE working with Netflix soon, ROH tag title match set, Konnan wrestling again, Impact opening, Interviews with Adam Rose/Kross/Sonya/Rollins, WWE signs Saudi names, new All Out match, Punk comments on AEW, NHL champs honored, Massaro campaign hits goal with big help from Foley, Impact talents barred from wearing non-Impact merch on TV, Rock to be honored, next Network classic drop, AEW producer holding seminar, WWE hiring writers (again), and Questions on an SSD rumor, WWE PPVs on DirecTV, where Edwards would be without Callihan, WWE pay bonuses, and WWE working with Shine

Goldberg and The Undertaker collapsed backstage after their Super ShowDown match. They were wrestling in close to 100 degree temperatures. WWE needs to make some big changes for wrestlers' health when they head somewhere that hot. Especially given how much they're paid for the events.

Super ShowDown drew around 21,000 fans, less than half what Greatest Royal Rumble drew for the same venue last year. Oucccccccccch. They got paid a lot of money for a very disappointing gate and what could be the worst reviewed WWE show in decades.

NJPW's Super J Cup being held in the U.S. with Jushin Liger's idea, as he wanted to host a tournament before his January retirement. I hope he stays in wrestling in some capacity after he's done in the ring.

NJPW Southern Showdown is being booked by Bad Luck Fale, with him being groomed for a producer position.

Michael Elgin, Eddie Edwards, and Willie Mack are working AAA's July 12 event. So Elgin's getting some new opportunities since signing with Impact.

Alberto El Patron's new promotion is looking to run in the U.S. shortly. He's really hitting the ground running.

- Carlito is also part of the promotion, but won't be working the first show.

The Lucha Bros are believed to be done with Impact, as it looks like they're on the road to joining AEW full-time. They're still under contract to Lucha Underground, so they'd have to get out of those deals to sign somewhere else. However, with AAA's working agreement with AEW, the duo can work there in the meantime. Impact's definitely losing one of, if not their single hottest act. We could easily see more Impact-to-AEW jumps going forward given each company's standing.

Impact's June 7 taping drew 500 fans. The Impact/HOH show on June 8 drew 800 fans for The Great Muta's ECW Arena debut.

AEW's announcement of Rafael Morffi was essentially making his role official, as he's been on board since January. He's got a lot of good work on his resume.

Fyter Fest being on B/R Live is a move to increase subscriptions to that service. This was a big component of the TNT/WarnerMedia deal.

Impact didn't allow Brian Cage to work Double or Nothing because the appearance hadn't been cleared by them beforehand. If plans were known in advance, it's possible the two sides would have come to an agreement to have Cage featured, but Impact didn't want their champion losing unadvertised in a battle royal. I see where they're coming from, but more people ordered Double or Nothing than watch Impact in the U.S., so this could have been big exposure for Cage.

Chris Jericho was never booked for Fyter Fest. AEW is doing an angle where he refuses to appear on the show because of it being streamed free. Clever way to hype the show.

WWE is pushing Raw to be nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Structured Reality Program. I don't see that happening.

NXT UK is expected to sign Session Moth Martina after she was at their recent tryout. I'm curious what changes she'll have there.

Vince McMahon, Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, and Kevin Dunn all missed this week's TV tapings. Ed Koskey took charge in their absence. Vince was handling corporate items, while Triple H was preparing for NXT tapings. Stephanie is only brought in as needed. As for Dunn, he's apparently only at TV when Vince is. We'll see who's back in the weeks to come; that's definitely an interesting and rare situation.

Lars Sullivan had a knee injury at Raw. It's currently unknown how long he'll miss. He was scheduled to face Matt Hardy on Smackdown Live, so we'll see if that happens soon.

205 Live's Chad Gable vs. Jack Gallagher match was not supposed to end on a count out, but the referees are instructed to call falls and such legitimately, so when Gallagher missed the ten count, the call was made to end the match. Kind of funny in its own way.

NXT recruits are getting new names so they won't be able to use their "WWE names" if they leave the company. WWE doesn't want to build someone up only for them to go elsewhere with the same name.

WWE Network's latest Hidden Gem is Stampede Wrestling's April 1999 reboot pilot, with commentary from Mauro Ranallo. That's an interesting idea.

WWE Studios' first Netflix project will begin filming in a few weeks. "The Main Event" will feature John Cena, The Miz, Sheamus, and Bray Wyatt.

ROH's July 20 TV taping has added the Guerrillas of Destiny vs. The Briscoes in a street fight for the ROH tag team title. That could be a lot of fun.

Konnan has been cleared to return to the ring. He will appear at MLW's July 6 TV taping in what one would expect to lead to a match. I'm interested to see where he goes from here. He had talked about a big retirement tour in Mexico.

Impact released the opening to tonight's episode.

Adam Rose spoke before his final match. I'm glad he's in a better place now. As for moving him on from NXT, he had been in developmental for a really long time. The whole system was designed to prepare him for TV.

WWE has signed Saudi Arabia's Faisal Kurdi and Hussain Aldagal for the WWE Performance Center. Both men have impressive athletic backgrounds; not sure why WWE waited a year to sign them from their initial tryout, though.

AEW All Out has announced Jon Moxley vs. Kenny Omega, which is a suitably major match.

Killer Kross was on Petey Williams' latest podcast, where Kross discussed his and Scarlett Bordeaux's standings in Impact. Kross says he's asking to be paid in the league of other prominent stars there, and that both he and Scarlett want to stay in the company if something can be worked out. Both names are still currently working with Impact, and Scarlett recently met with Impact management to discuss her standing there.

C.M. Punk commented on joining AEW. I think part of him enjoys taunting fans with not returning, but I also don't think he has any current plans to go back to wrestling. He's indicated in the past he's willing to listen to offers, but his priority now is MMA.

Sonya Deville discussed coming out as a lesbian and the women's revolution. I'm glad she can live life without hiding who she is.

Seth Rollins spoke while in Saudi Arabia. Good to see him put over some NXT names.

NHL's Stanley Cup Champions were presented with a custom WWE Championship. We'll see if Brock cashes in on them.

Mick Foley raised more than $31,000 for Ashley Massaro's daughter through autographed Cactus Jack shirts. Very, very great news.

- The campaign as a whole has now surpassed its $100,000 goal. INCREDIBLE.

Impact Wrestling has made it so talents can only wear Impact-designed shirts on Impact broadcasts. So, talents selling merchandise on their own won't be able to wear that attire on TV. I see where Impact's coming from there, but I can see talent resenting the move.

- Rosemary, The North, and Ace Austin now have official Impact T-shirts.

The Rock is getting MTV's Generation Award Monday night. That's well-earned.

WWE Network will upload more Mid-Atlantic Wrestling content Monday. There's about a year of episodes missing from the archive right now.

Dean Malenko is holding a seminar for CZW in July 21. That's a funny juxtaposition.

WWE is once again seeking writers, at both the junior and senior level. These positions will be based in Connecticut. Obviously no one outside of WWE thinks adding new writers is the problem, but they're going to keep trying it.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. No credible sources have claimed that interaction happened. Both men were in rough shape after wrestling in intense heat.

2. It was more a case of DirecTV dropping WWE, but they've reversed course because even getting a fraction of what they used to get from PPV buys is better than not getting any buys!

3. It's possible he would have undergone some changes as time went on, but the Callihan feud clearly launched a different side to him.

4. So it's not strictly "first match gets the least, second match gets the second least," since sometimes more important people are earlier on the card, but there's definitely a priority system to who gets paid how much.

5. Right now it's just an EVOLVE thing, given Sapolsky's role in WWE. It's worth noting EVOLVE has a few women's matches here and there, and NXT names have been used in those roles.

More wrestling tomorrow.
