Nash interview, Benoit on DVDs, Laycool, shortest title match ever, Jericho, Abyss, Flair, HHH, Kenny Dykstra, and Tommy Dreamer updates, Daniels back in TNA, another Daniels has a tryout, Martha Hart lawsuit update, role for new TNA signee revealed

Kevin Nash takes a few more shots at TNA in a new interview. After initially praising the company and Dixie Carter, when asked about what he thought that TNA felt the big pop he got at the Royal Rumble, he replied "I'm sure they (TNA) realized they were right that they shouldn't have signed me, they should have tried to cut my pay, and they were dead-on. That mindset has proven to be effective and to me, it solidifies they're on top of their game." Ouch.

In TNA's defense, I don't remember anything near the pop that he got in the Rumble during his run then. He didn't add all that much in his last time in TNA. He's not the kind of guy that that crowd gets behind these days. Also, WWE fans hadn't seen him in what, 8 years? And the Diesel gimmick is from like 1996. So that accounts for at least some of the pop.

Next, he takes up for Ric Flair after him being left behind in Europe. "I don't care what he's done or what he's said, he's earned the right to - you make sure Flair gets where he's supposed to be. You don't leave him stranded in the middle of Europe." I'm not crazy about them leaving him stranded, but he definitely shouldn't have been allowed on the bus after pulling that stunt. They weren't going to send him home, but they didn't know what they'd do in the future with him either. He was broke, so he couldn't call a cab or anything. I guess they could have had someone go separately with him to the next city (and pay for it from Flair's pay of that next night)? It's a tricky situation.

Also in the interview he says that his future lies in the hands of the WWE Creative team. He's having a meeting with them tomorrow (Wednesday). If they saw something in him in the Rumble, he's open to just about anything going into WrestleMania. He won't work full time though. He says that he woke up sore from the Rumble. He'd like a match against The Undertaker or teaming with Big Show. Kane and Wade Barrett are also possibilities. He's asked about a possibility of Sting coming to WWE, and Nash says that he'd be a "damn fool" to turn down such an offer. As far as a Main Event Mafia reunion in WWE of Nash, Sting, and Booker, Nash noted that Kurt Angle's TNA contract is up in August. Angle has said that he will likely stay in TNA for the remainder of his wrestling career.

More news and PWInsider's questions of the day answered after the break.
The first question asks about a Bret Hart vs. Chris Benoit match being on the Best of Nitro DVD. Sadly, it seems unlikely that we'll see any Benoit matches on DVD compilations. In the past, WWE has only included his matches on complete events (e.g. the WrestleMania XX DVD). That really sucks from a wrestling fan standpoint, as it means (among other things) that no Randy Orton DVD can show the match where he became the youngest World Heavyweight Champion by beating Benoit. But I can see why they do it, and I could see the backlash if they included him on more DVDs.

Someone asks if we'll see another "weight" storyline (i.e. "Piggy James") involving Laycool and Natalya. I really hope not. I think they've petty much ran that topic into the ground.

Someone else wants to know what the shortest Title match of all time is. I'm going with The Rock beating Shawn Stasiak for the WCW Title in 2001. Stasiak shook his hand, Rock held on, then he Rock Bottomed him and pinned him. I don't know the official match time though.

The fourth question asks about Nexus and The Corre singing. I'm not sure I get the reference...

I don't have anything to add to the answer to the fifth question. Read it for yourself for Mike Johnson's take on it.

Chris Jericho has stated that he could be close to returning to WWE. His second book is coming out soon, and he's still on tour with his band, but a return contract is "90%" done. Will we see Jericho come back to WWE in the near future? Don't rule it out.

TNA alum Christopher Daniels wrestled recently for the company as Suicide, and could do more as that character in the future. A Curry Man return is also possible. I guess we can chalk that up partially to TNA wanting to focus more on the X-Division. Curry Man cracked me up considerably. Suicide I wasn't crazy about. If that makes TNA money, though, more power to them. His ROH commitments will not be impacted by this in any way.

Former Japanese and ROH wrestler Josh Daniels has received a tryout for TNA. No word on a signing as of yet.

Ric Flair is not at tonight's Impact tapings, and isn't in the Orlando area. It is unknown what this means for his status in the company.

Abyss is being kept off of TV until possibly March to sell the attack by Crimson. Any update on his TV Title will be on Impact or a PPV.

The Martha Hart lawsuit goes on, as a judge has heard motions from both sides to rule in their favor. A decision has not been made on the case at this time.

Triple H is scheduled for an 8-man tag after the final Raw before WrestleMania. A timetable for his return is unknown.

Former WWE wrestler Kenny Dykstra said on Twitter that he pitched a return of the Spirit Squad to TNA, but they didn't like it. I really doubt that the TNA crowd would go for that one. And even if they would, there are a few problems with that plan:
- They presumably couldn't use the name Spirit Squad or Kenny Dykstra.
- "Nicky" is now Dolph Ziggler in WWE (look it up if you don't believe me).
- "Mitch" now does MMA, and it's unknown if he'd return to wrestling.
So, I wouldn't count on seeing that one in TNA, or WWE for that matter (unless it's the members other than Ziggler reuniting there)

Tommy Dreamer has primarily been moved to a backstage role in TNA. One of the reasons he left WWE was to wrestle more when the company wanted him to take a backstage role.

New TNA signee Divina Fly will wrestle as "Rosita", the cousin of Sarita.

That's all the news to cover today. More to come tomorrow.
