Updates on Justin Credible, Ric Flair, and Hulk Hogan, Terry Funk at a WWE show, Questions on the youth movement, heel Cole, criticisizing wrestling, Punk vs. Bryan, and Mr. Anderson, Lalwer's mother passes away, news on The Chaperone, new WWE hire, Jeff Hardy vs. RVD set, Bieber-Mania update, Raw Guest Host swerve

Justin Credible cleared up the rumors about him, saying that the reason he left a show early (after his match) was that he had a six-hour drive to Connecticut. There was concern over his health because of his past with painkillers.

Terry Funk made a special appearance at a WWE house show in West Texas. He cut a promo about how wrestling was in his blood and about the legends who came out of that area. This set-up a run-in by The Corre, who were beaten in an 8-man tag. Percy Watson worked this match (I believe he's regularly working house shows now), and Big Show celebrated with The Funker afterward. Funk didn't compete in the match.

Up next, questions from PWInsider.com, including a blockbuster question on the youth movement:

After reading Dave Scherer's answer, it seems that different people have different reasons for wanting to push the younger talent. He talks about how the push for it is more noticeable due to the Internet having plenty of readily available opinions. He also talks about how stale some top talent is, and that he doesn't think that people will spend much money if they know what's going to happen.

Here are my thoughts: Firstly, it's not solely an issue of young vs. older. To me a lot of it is freshness vs. staleness and how much more someone can bring to the table. I didn't even really think about the internet part, because most fans don't read too much from there. I think the part about "knowing what's going to happen" is kind of off-base. In fact, I don't see that part at all. Everyone who watched Episodes I-III of Star Wars knew that Anakin Skywalker was going to become Darth Vader. He wasn't going to die in a podrace or anything like that. The movies still made a lot of money because enough people were into seeing that story. We also pretty much knew that Batman was going to beat The Joker in The Dark Knight (and not just because of Heath Ledger passing away. The movie was pretty much done at that point.), but it still killed at the box office. I could give plenty more examples, but the point's the same.

Here's my take on the youth movement. There are some talents, like Triple H and Kane and Big Show, who we've seen wrestle for over a decade. They've been in countless feuds, won titles left and right, been on plenty of PPVs and so on. That gets old after a while. Not only that, but they're not going to be there forever. You need to keep building new, fresh stars so that the business keeps doing well once those guys are gone. As often as we see these guys on TV, they'll get staler faster than the wrestlers back in the day who didn't appear each week. I hope that explains things.

Someone wants to know if people should get over Michael Cole as the heel announcer. They might ought to, because it doesn't look like he's going anywhere different soon. At least not until WrestleMania. My guess is that Lawler beats him then and he tones it down. At least I hope so. I'm not as peeved about him as some people seem to be, but I definitely think it shouldn't be a long-term thing.

There are definitely some fans who are unpleasable, and some part of the audience is always going to dislike what you're doing, but as long as there are enough who like it for it to be profitable (the more the better), you're doing the right thing. I don't think you can ever please everyone at once. Not that you shouldn't try to get more fans watching the product!

I really don't think we'll see a C.M. Punk vs. Daniel Bryan Iron Man match in WWE. WWE's not going to devote an hour to people they don't see as top-tier or close to top-tier stars. They'd need a pretty good reason to book a feud with them that would eventually go to that big of a match.

Finally there's someone who sees Mr. Anderson as being in the same class as The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin. Nice to see that TNA employees have found out where to send questions. I kid! No, I don't see Anderson at that level at all. I don't think that he's a great worker in the ring or on the mic. I'm not saying that he sucks, but I don't see him at the level of some current or potential future main eventers, much less icons from the past.

As was mentioned on Raw, the mother of WWE Hall of Famer Jerry "The King" Lawler recently passed away. Lawler understandably stayed in Memphis today. As of now, he is still expected to wrestle on Sunday.

Update: She was 90 years old and had been battling Alzheimer's disease.

Ric Flair, who possibly needs surgery on his rotator cuff that would leave him out for around four months, has decided to forgo that in order to continue working for TNA. It's a sad day when an injured senior citizen feels like he has to work through it because he's not wise with his money. There's no telling how much money Flair has made throughout his career. He should be a retired legend now, or an occasional mouthpiece, not the big focus he is in TNA.

Hulk Hogan is also training to return to TNA soon.

WWE's next film release will only be in cinemas for a day, and only in 10 cinemas. This is better than the 6 cinemas that "Knucklehead" had. The DVD will release on March 8, and the one-day cinema run is this Friday.

WWE has a new hire for Vice President of Live Events, replacing WWE office employee Bret Hart.

Jeff Hardy will face Rob Van Dam for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship on Impact. I can not reiterate enough how myopic it is to tease a showdown for months, then cool it off, then sort of heat it back up then blow it off with almost zero build on free TV. You bypass Anderson's "rematch clause" (if he has one) and have 3 World Title matches in the span of eight days. Mind-boggling. One thing that UFC does very well is protect its top Title. You don't see it defended on the weekly show. It's saved for the big-time events. Obviously in UFC they're actually fighting, so 3 Title defenses in 8 days would be insane, but the "prestige" issue is also important.

Justin Bieber is officially signed for WrestleMania XXVII.

Before the big reveal tonight, many in WWE believed that Bob Barker was going to be guest hosting WrestleMania. Obviously that's not the case.

That's all the news for today. I'm sure we'll be swamped in the days to come, so be sure to check back.
