Questions on Nash, Kelly, Booker, HBK's inductors, and Mania, new potential national promotion in the works, ex-WWE and TNA wrestler done with wrestling?, former Raw guest host talks the Rumble, Nash's advice to TNA, Sting rumors, Angle contract update, more on Tough Enough, Barrett talks UFC

Thursday's news starts with questions unsurprisingly. Here's what PWInsider.com was asked today:

Someone apparently thought that Kevin Nash had retired and were wondering why he was in WWE. He didn't retire. He was in TNA, and this is his attempt at one last big run in WWE.

Someone wants to know if we'll see Kelly Kelly turn heel. It'd be something fresh, but I think it's more likely we'll see Drew McIntyre try to get new life as a babyface at the end of the angle.

Should Booker T. return as that gimmick or King Booker? Unless he's feuding with Sheamus, I say have him be Booker T. Even if he's feuding with Sheamus, he doesn't need the king garb. He can just reference being a former King of the Ring. We'll find out more about Booker's future WWE role on Smackdown (remember that I try to avoid spoilers here).

The fourth question is about the chances of Triple H and Kevin Nash inducting Shawn Michaels in Atlanta. If they want to do that, I'm sure WWE would let them.

The next question is about whether WrestleMania should directly follow the Royal Rumble. Read on for my answer and all of today's news.

I think there's good reason to have Elimination Chamber between the two events. It allows more build to the biggest show of the year, and gives WWE another big way to mold the card in the directions they want to take it towards Mania. It also prevents them from having 2 of their major events back-to-back with no down time in between. So no, I don't mind them having 3 months of WrestleMania season instead of 2. In fact, I prefer it!

Former(Original) ECW General Manager Steve Karel is tentatively scheduled to launch a new wrestling promotion this year called the Urban Wrestling Federation. It's a combination of old ECW style wrestling and hip hop culture. They have deals with PPV carriers and are in the early stages of negotiation with a national cable outlet. They're looking for talent at http://www.urbanwrestlingfederation.com/ now as well. It's always an important story to me when the possibility of a new national promotion pops up, so I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this.

Shelly Martinez, formerly WWE ECW's Ariel and TNA's Salinas says the she is "breaking up" with wrestling due to its politics. I think she's a full-time model and actress now. She left both WWE and TNA on somewhat sour terms.

Not much in the way of news, but I found it pretty amusing: One-time Raw guest host Maria Menounos of Access Hollywood was named on AskMen.com's Lady of the Year list and suggested the following: "The top girls should have to enter an AskMen Royal Rumble, just like in the WWE, and the winner should get an AskMen championship belt. I want the strap!"

Kevin Nash has a new blog. He talks about wanting to end his career where he started it (or at least got his first big push) and how good it felt to get such a pop in Boston. He has no ill will towards TNA, and has interesting advice for TNA. He says that they should do whatever it takes to sign John Cena away, like WCW did with himself and Scott Hall. I don't see why Cena would take such an offer. He's one of the biggest stars in wrestling today, if not the single biggest. WWE is responsible for that and he's very loyal to them. He can make movies there as well. There hasn't been anything to suggest that he'd consider leaving, no matter what the price. Plus, if TNA is truly having to tighten the purse strings, I don't see them wanting to put that much money up right now.

Former WWE Creative team member Dave Lagana has another interesting blog today, talking about the buzz of a possible Sting appearance in WWE. Lagana says that Sting is a free agent. Other sources on the net say the same thing, but I haven't heard anything official from PWInsider.com or PWTorch.com to confirm that his TNA contract has expired.

Regardless, the blog says that in 2002, there was actually a possibility of Sting appearing at WrestleMania X8 as Kurt Angle's opponent. Obviously, that never materialized. There's plenty of hype online for a potential Sting-Undertaker confrontation in Atlanta.

Update: On TNA's website, in a Q&A session with Dixie Carter, she states that she has read rumors that Sting has left TNA, and hopes that they're not true. I really hope she's playing coy or something, because if the TNA President doesn't know if one of her most important acquisitions is under contract, something is seriously wrong. Surely she has ways of getting in contact with him or someone who has his contract on file or something?

Kurt Angle has confirmed that his current TNA contract expires in August. He's said in the past that he'll stick around in TNA on a part-time schedule.

Tough Enough will feature a guest wrestler every week (in addition to Stone Cold Steve Austin) to help the hopefuls in their journey to being a WWE wrestler. In a correction, the house the contestants will be in is in Simi Valley, California, not Los Angeles.

Wade Barrett has said that he has no interest in doing anything in UFC despite his bare-knuckle fighting background.

That's the last news story for today. Check back tomorrow for more!
