Raw Thoughts- 2/7/11

We're 13 nights from the Elimination Chamber event, as we continue on the Road to WrestleMania XXVII. Read on  for my thoughts on Raw!

That's got to be the most underwhelming Vince McMahon appearance ever. He's definitely taking a backseat these days as far as being on TV goes. My guess is Bob Barker for WrestleMania guest host, but I think we could be in for a big surprise as well.

I can't be the only one who had forgotten about Manu. Nice explanation for Punk attacking Orton, and waiting until he had a sizable group to pull a Legacy-type attack on him. Kind of a stretch, but given Punk's mindset it makes sense. Punk needs to be either using the New Nexus "on offense" or avoiding Orton in this feud so that it means a lot more when Orton gets his hands on him at WrestleMania. (They shouldn't fight much in the Chamber match, Punk should try to hide behind the other competitors and only attack when he can do so cheaply. Orton should maybe get some revenge on him, but save the bulk of it for the big Mania match)

R-Truth screwing up the town name was kind of funny, as was the response. As many towns as they go through, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.

The opening match was kind of clunky. I'm glad that Ryan's still getting training in FCW!

I'm glad that Punk didn't kick Ryan out of Nexus for his loss. Good mindset by Punk going into the Chamber. He's lowdown and dirty, he shouldn't mind a tainted victory.

Hopefully we don't see a heel turn next week in Eve vs. Melina just because they're facing off next week. Sometimes a face vs. face title match is okay, since Natalya didn't lose 1-on-1 and gets a rematch.

I'm trying to remember what Undertaker's last vignette was (after being buried alive). I remember him walking into a light at least. I guess this is something to do with the afterlife and him somehow being able to come back from that light he went into. They're definitely treating Buried Alive matches as serious business if they go to this level. The Johnny Cash song mentioning graves pretty much confirms Undertaker, unless they're making a reference to The Crow and Sting's character. Taker seems more likely.

What if they have Aaron Rodgers host WrestleMania!?

The Miz was GOLD on the mic in his segment with The King, and Jerry Lawler can always have the crowd were he wants them with his promos. A hell of a segment from both men. That being said, a senior citizen shouldn't be able to hold his own (temporarily) with two men half his age in an attack. At least not that easily.

I thought I had missed something when they talked about Mark Henry making comments earlier in the night. Henry vs. Sheamus makes more sense than the heel Otunga facing the Irish brawler. And while I'm not crazy about Henry dominating him, it continued the story of "Punk's opponents being brutalized".

Nice continuity with Del Rio and Santino. Someone being treated as important as Del Rio is shouldn't have that much trouble with Santino.

Vickie Guerrero gets a huge negative reaction, and John Cena gets a huge positive reaction, so this segment got over pretty well. We got a promo for Smackdown's main event scene, and Cena got to pump up the crowd for his storyline as well.

Not a bad ending to Raw, if a little predictable. At least it took a DQ and a chair for Cena to outsmart Nexus this time.

That's all for tonight's Raw thoughts. Tomorrow I'll review the latest elimination episode of NXT.
