WWE Money In The Bank preview

Read on for how I'd book Money In The Bank.
The purpose of this show, to me, is two-fold: build the stars of tomorrow and start setting the stage for Summerslam.

To start off, this show needs some more matches to fill some time. In keeping with talents that have been used lately (or should be), here are some I'd suggest:

Gauntlet match:
Ryback beats Curt Hawkins, then Tyler Reks. They get in about as much offense as they have in the past. I'd probably have these two work with Ryback a it more before he moves on to JTG. I haven't seen enough from Ryback to know if he's ready for bigger prey any time soon, so this story continues to be slow.

The Prime Time Players vs. The Usos. PTP win a nice little match. Kofi and R-Truth stand at the top of the entrance ramp and words are exchanged with the #1 Contenders. The point here is to build to a title match with some story to it instead of just "these guys are champions, these guys are #1 contenders. They're having a match."

Antonio Cesaro and Aksana vs. Layla and The Great Khali. I'd do this rematch because they did nothing with it the first time. Layla's very talented, but doing just about nothing as champion. Cesaro's been impressing me in what little we've been able to see. So, it's angle time. Aksana baits Layla (ducking into the ropes, faking an injury, that kind of thing) to frustrate her. Cesaro shows his wrestling talents against Khali, working around him, getting him tied up in the ropes, and so on. No way can Cesaro hit the Neutralizer on Khali, so I'd just have Askana pin Layla with her feet on the ropes while Cesaro has Khali distracted. Aksana parades around having beaten the champion and Cesaro tries to prove that he can beat Khali to earn his spot on the roster. With 3 hours of Raw coming up, there's enough TV time to build stories. Cut back on recap packages, social media pushing, and comedy angles and you can build a good wrestling product.

If that isn't enough added to the card, and a segment is needed to bridge the gap between two bigger matches, Brodus Clay could win a squash against a local indie guy who hates dancing. Hey, some of the audience is into his shtick.

As for the matches that have been announced, Kofi and R-Truth beat Hunico and Camacho to build to their feud with the Prime Time Players.

Dolph Ziggler wins the Smackdown MITB. He's shown he's "ready" for main events. With the right push, he could be someone the company can count on in the title picture in time.

Chris Jericho wins the Raw MITB. When he takes time off to play with Fozzy this summer, he either gets "injured" or loses the briefcase. I think I'd save him losing the briefcase for when he comes back. I like Jericho a lot, but the briefcase should be used to elevate someone who wouldn't be pushed otherwise (Jericho has a pretty much guaranteed push whenever he shows up).

Sheamus vs. Del Rio needs some fuel added to the fire: Sheamus gets the win, but Ricardo and Del Rio attack him with a tire iron and take him out of the arena in their car to attack him more. Rematch at Summerslam once the feud has gotten more personal.

AJ goes bonkers in the main event when Punk and Bryan are more concerned with wrestling than watching what she's doing. Following a ref bump caused by both men doing intense fighting, AJ runs off with the championship. No winner. No Holds Barred match at Summerslam where there must be a winner.

I'll be back for how it actually goes down later tonight.
