Impact Wrestling Reax - 9/26/13

Read on for my thoughts on last night's Impact Wrestling.
Interesting start to the show. Dixie turning heel is at least an interesting change of scenery from the never-ending Aces and Eights saga.

I mostly liked the Aces and Eights segment. I'm definitely ready for the angle to wrap up. It's funny to me how many members have left the group in the mass exodus of TNA.

That Park/Young/ODB segment was alright. I wonder what the tag team picture will look like at BFG...

That match had some good action amid all of the ridiculous comedy. TNA doesn't exactly have a deep roster to work with.

I hope Aries is doing something interesting at BFG. He's a talent who can shine brightly in "the new TNA" that will hopefully emerge post-BFG.

Ugh. Hogan. Just... no. I can only imagine how some of the actual wrestlers TNA has would make better use of the time spent on Hogan, Hogan's family and Hogan's allies. Instead of trying to be a wrestling promotion of the past, they should try to be a wrestling promotion of 2013 and beyond.

Nice segment to set off King vs. Aries. I think both talents have upsides (but can definitely benefit from more experience and working with veterans).

Aries vs. King wasn't terrible. It just felt like the usual "throw a bunch of moves out there" X-Division match. Thank goodness it wasn't a three-way or anything. It would have been even more hectic.

I was wondering if Lei'D Tapa was going to be showing up soon. The Knockouts division could definitely use some freshening up.

Sabin's another guy with an upside who I hope grows as a performer. I feel as though he's almost a former TNA Champion in name only, as he's pretty much back down to where he was before he was champion. Anyway: Sabin vs. Aries shouldn't be bad.

Fine MEM segment. I wonder where the careers of Joe and Magnus will go once this angle's over and Sting possibly hangs up the boots (at least for TNA).

That was not a bad use of Hogan at all. Using him to further AJ Styles is admirable and the kind of thing TNA should have been using him for all along.

Hopefully Angle doesn't embarrass TNA again. Him working BFG could be the start of a big feud. BFG is definitely the time to start the company off on a new foot.

Someone's actually coming TO TNA? That's a swerve for sure.

I wonder what kind of crazy "shoot" stuff we'll get tonight.

It's really silly to see people go for moves like dropkicks and sentons in a heated "fight". This is part of why so many X-Division-style stars don't make it to main events. But, yeah, so-so match. I'm ok with how they're  continuing the Sabin/Velvet story.

Fine post-match. I'm not really crazy about Sabin as a heel. The air's definitely out of the balloon now that he's not TNA Champ.

Meh... Aces and Eights stuff. Pretty much anything other than this angle will be a step up post-BFG.

Ehh. Not crazy about the EGO segment either. TNA just seems to be spinning its tires right now on the road to BFG.

Aces and Eights has really been neutered. Ending the group would be a mercy killing at this point. I wonder where Brisco, Knux, and Bischoff will fit into things without Bully being able to give them the rub.

Faces and Eights? That's certainly an interesting scenario. I can't be the only one who thinks it's backwards to have the heel going against all odds to keep the Title.

Definitely not a bad ending to the show, all things considered. TNA's clearly in a transitional period right now. Almost a "lame-duck" kind of thing where they have to keep some things going for a while because they were already set in place. So, they have some time to get their stuff together.

More wrestling coming up.
