Main Event Reax - 9/11/13, wrestling world remembers 9/11, big TNA milestone upcoming, No Surrender promotion, Mickie concert, train with Thatcher, Interviews with Ambrose/DiBiase, Sr./Booker/McIntyre, NXT and live event guests, WCW flashback, JR retires from WWE (or does he?), indie cameo on Smackdown, WWE appearances, Shaul Guerrero update, and Questions on the face of WWE, keeping Punk strong, and the HHH/Bryan angle

Main Event:
Wow. Cesaro vs. Kofi was great. I have high hopes for both mens' futures if they keep this kind of thing up. Both men are still in their early 30s, yet they each have more than 1000 matches to their name.

Pretty impressive showing from PTP. I feel like they have more fire under them lately (since the face turn and push began).

I'm looking forward to the Cutting Edge.

R-Truth just got FIVED. Good showing by both men. It's hard to believe Truth's still going so strong at his age. Big E still has a ways to go before I'd recommend him in a major singles role, but he's clearly motivated to succeed.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

A number of wrestling personalities tweeted about the 9/11 attacks. I still remember a lot about that day 12 years later.

November 7 will feature the 500th episode of Impact. I wonder if they'll do anything big for it.

Bully Ray promoted No Surrender. That might be a typo about SoCal Val being there, since she's no longer with TNA. I can't say that I'm looking forward to the show. I'm sure the BFG Series matches will be good. It's just that there's also the same old faces at the top of the card, non-wrestlers taking up TV time, etc..

Hulk Hogan also promoted No Surrender. I'd much rather have Scott Steiner promote it, but TNA's infatuated with Hogan and Bischoff (and their respective friends and families).

Mickie James has a concert coming up. The song "Hardcore Country" has X-Pac heat from me.

Les Thetcher is doing a wrestling seminar this weekend at Antonio Thomas' Ringsport Pro Wrestling Gym. Talk about your old school.

Dean Ambrose gave a great interview ahead of Smackdown. This guy's truly special. I wish we had more people with the "it" factor and intangibles that he has. He's also insanely motivated, which is great.

Ted DiBiase, Sr. talked about his son leaving WWE and a lot more. I really don't see his son leaving as a huge loss given WWE's huge depth of talent.

RVD and Fandango will be at today's NXT taping. Should be cool.

Booker T. talked about MMA vs. WWE. I'm sure that rustled some jimmies. His other comments were very good to read.

Bob Backlund was at WWE's live events this weekend in the Northeast. I bet that was a trip.

Here's a 1994 interview with Eric Bischoff about how he became WCW President. I definitely don't view Bischoff's legacy in the industry as 100% negative.

WWE has announced that Jim Ross has retired from the company. An era is truly over for them. PWInsider.com has a good summary of his tenure. It's hard for me to even imagine the company without him involved in some way. He's that big of a part of what WWE is.

Update: The Toronto Sun covered his departure. Honestly, if anyone's earned retirement from WWE, it's good ol' J.R..

Update: PWInsider.com is reporting that Ross' leaving WWE wasn't 100% his idea, and that his leaving the company is due at least partially to the recent WWE 2K14 symposium that went all to hell. I think for a compromise they could have just kept him working in the developmental area of the company, away from situations like what went down that day. He was a great asset as a talent scout and teacher/mentor to younger superstars.

Update: Ross commented on Twitter and blogged about his retirement. Anyone who missed this man announcing in his prime really missed something special. He brought a passion like none other to his calls. I hope he does write an autobiography. I'd love to read it.

This week's Smackdown features ROH star R.D. Evans (CHIKARA star Archibald Peck) in a backstage segment with Ryback. No word on if this will lead to a larger role for him. He's certainly not the first ROH star to be on WWE's radar since HHH took over Talent Relations.

Shaul Guerrero (Raquel Diaz) has returned to WWE developmental. Obviously with that last name, there are high hopes for her future.

Darren Young will be on The Ellen Show on 9/13. That's great!

Mick Foley will be at this weekend's Montreal Comic Con. Someone should make a Three Faces of Foley comic.

Drew McIntyre was interviewed. How weird is it that RVD was wrestling when McIntyre was just a kid?

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. It definitely feels like HHH is on a higher, more important scale than Orton (or just about anyone else in the company right now for that matter). BUT the angle's still in its early stages and they can still get behind Bryan full throttle before it's over.

2. I can kind of see it. I think it's more that Punk is so pissed off that no one can take him down than a case of LOLSUPERPUNK. It's certainly something to keep an eye on in the months to come.

3. In kayfabe, where would those wrestlers be if they ran afoul of HHH? Either getting their asses kicked week in and week out or being fired. HHH is the dictator and his word, no matter how brutal, is law. Between getting paid every week while injustices happen and chancing working the indies/TNA (lol), I can see how they'd choose WWE. Plus there's the whole bystander effect thing.

4. Creative derailed his push by putting him in a top angle with HHH, Orton, and Bryan. Man, that's the worst burial ever. He'll be lucky if we even know his name by this time next year. OF COURSE AMBROSE CAN (CONTINUE TO) SHINE! He's not even 30 for crying out loud. He could have quite the career ahead of him.

5. Because he challenged Orton's dominance and that's not good for BUSINESS.

More wrestling tomorrow.
