Main Event Reax - 9/4/13, Titus press, Interviews with Wyatt songwriter/HHH, Wrestlecast!, WWE's Performance Center a hot item, Henry update, TNA celebrity notes, Batista shoots down WWE return (again), JR talks HHH, other rejected WWF characters, Gabriel+Layla appearance, Raw audience, and Questions on HHH going over, the Light Heavyweight Title, "wrestling", the Womens' Title, and CHIKARA

Main Event:
Fandango vs. Gabriel was pretty good. I think both men have really grown from their NXT days. I'm glad that Fandango has been able to make use of his flashy personality to combine with his solid ringwork and psychology. I think Gabriel is still missing something to be someone featured in a regular role - I think a lot of that is his intangibles: character traits, promo skills, etc..

Great Sandow promo, although it's hard to believe him as the uncrowned World Champion given how often he's lost since MITB.

That was a really good match between Truth and Sandow. Both men know what they're doing in there. But why does Sandow keep losing?

Yeah, I don't think Sandow's convincing anyone that he could be World Champion after so many losses.

So much for that PTP push. I don't think they should have beaten the Wyatt Family, but it kind of halted their momentum for the time being to lose so convincingly. I think the Wyatts as heels is appropriate, and neither they nor The Shield should be turned, but that feud would be epic. I can only imagine the promo wars between the two sides.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Titus O'Neil made the news for his new relationship with a former reality show star (not from "Total Divas"). I guess you can say that PTP are Makin' Moves lately.

The singer behind the Wyatt Family theme was profiled. Bray is quoted as well. It's pretty cool that they can work together like that.

A sportscaster dropped 31 wrestling references during coverage. That was awesome, even if it felt kind of forced in places. You can't say pythons in a wrestling piece without referring to the Hulkster, brother.

Daniel Bryan was at the WWE Performance Center yesterday. I'm sure there are some performers there who would love to work with him.

Update: Ricardo Rodriguez also attended. I continue to wonder if we'll see him transition into an in-ring role.

WWE has pulled Mark Henry from a scheduled signing this weekend in Jersey City, NJ. He'll be replaced by Natalya and Alicia Fox. There's no word on when we'll next see him on TV.

WWE has hired a new GM for their Performance Center, with a background in the circus. Pretty appropriate, no? He sounds qualified.

Hulk and Brooke Hogan will be a part of Adult Swim's "China, IL", and Rampage Jackson will be a part of an ongoing comic series "Rampage Jackson: Street Soldier". Hey, if it (even indirectly)  brings publicity to TNA, that's fine in my book.

Batista is tired of asking if/when he's returning to WWE. Probably because it's the same answer as it has been the last 9001 times that's been asked: he has no plans at the moment. I'd just assume that he's not coming back at this point. That way, if he does, it's a surprise.

Triple H talked in-character to Michael Cole to continue his angle. Very self-serving!

Speaking of the angle, Jim Ross talked about TV vs. reality. Some people still don't get this.

WWE.com posted more rejected character designs from '90s characters. Those outfits are definitely pretty '90s! Diesel looks quite dapper in some of those clothes. I loved the Headshrinkers outfits. I think today's stars could use more "flavor" in their attire. Not everyone, obviously, but some. LOD 2000 would have given some kids nightmares, I think. Repo Man could have been really cool looking.

Justin Gabriel and Layla have a signing on 9/8 at the Connecticut Women's Expo. Cool.

Raw's audience this week was 3.94 million. Note that it was Labor Day, which generally means a lower audience.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I would like to think that HHH would be willing to pass the torch in this angle, but it does feel like he always has to show that he's still a top act (despite being older and having so many behind-the-scenes duties). We'll see how it goes.

2. I think some of it could be that they wanted to play off of the Gillberg character being undefeated for the Title. But it's no secret that WWE pushes the bigger guys.

3. Wrestling has such a negative connotation to so many people ("it's fake and gay") that WWE wants to separate itself from that stigma. Of course, there are a lot of fans who resent that feeling.

4. It's been three years. I'm over it. I understand the lineage argument, but WWE wants to market their female performers as "Divas" fighting for a "Divas' Championship".

5. Apparently something's in the works. Check out their forums for more.

More wrestling tomorrow.
