Impact Wrestling Reax - 8/18/16

Read on for my thoughts on last night's Impact Wrestling.

- Lashley/Rex backstage:
I like Aron Rex, but he should probably have to actually win some matches (or, you know, have some) before he should get in the title picture.

- Storm/Hebner/Corgan segment:
Being a referee is a really tough job, OK. Especially when all the wrestlers are bigger than you are.

Dude. Corgan can make any match he wants. He's the president.

Glad Corgan respects Storm's legacy.

Storm having a big moment here. I'm loving him finally being fired up and wanting to be a top player again.

DAMN. Storm going hard on the people who left for greener pastures. It's worth noting TNA was willing to offer a lot more money than NXT/WWE was for the Cowboy.

Funny closing line from James. I hope he comes back to actually do something of note. Storm vs. Rex could be pretty good, with the idea of Rex just coming in and getting spots while Storm has been busting his ass for TNA for more than a decade.

- Bennett/Maria/Moose backstage:
I'll be REALLY disappointed if Edwards beats Moose. Talk about two very different wrestlers.

- Moose vs. Edwards:
Eddie can at least be the white-meat babyface who tries really, really hard you guys.

Moose killing Eddie made my night. It's just a shame he has to do Bennett's bidding.

At least Moose's casual covers mean he'll get to kill him some more.

Moose is ROH/NXT's loss and TNA's gain. Great talent.

Edwards can at least put up a heck of a fight. He's an awesome athlete.

Moose making his mark. SO glad he's getting the ball to run with in TNA.

- Maria/Allie/Jade segment:
The "you'll never get a title shot as long as you live" gimmick needs to end with someone getting resuscitated so they can get back into the title picture. Russo would be all over that shit.

- Gail vs. Jade:
This is really solid so far.

Both women really go hard in their offense. I'm impressed.

They're just throwing out all the MOVES they have here, huh?

Oh, hey, it's the actual Knockouts Champion. I kind of forgot about her since TNA pretty much did.

- Sienna/Maria post-match:
I guess next week they realize Gail actually won the match by DQ and she gets another shot. I would think Billy would need to step in at some point.

- Lashley and the spot monkeys:
Even the number of X-Division competitors is small.

- Z vs. Sutter vs. Mandrews vs. Spud:
The "we didn't make it into the CWC" squad.

"Hey fam what are your plans for the X-Division?" "Umm.. just go do flips, I guess." There have been some good moments with more important people holding the title, but everyone else is doomed to flip forever.

Also, where the FUCK is Tigre Uno? Was he one of these guys in a mask the whole time or something?

I hope WWE's plan for the cruiserweight division isn't to try to do this or what ROH does with some of their smaller guys. Wrestling's already saturated with that style.

- EC3/Galloway/Rex segment:
EC3 will either do the lame babyface thing of proving he's the better man or get worked into putting his title shot on the line. Either way, he ends up looking dumb unless Galloway puts something on the line, too.

"Everyone's been watching Impact Wrestling." topkek. The ratings say otherwise.

Three underutilized WWE names trying to go for the TNA Title, currently held by another former WWE guy. I think they're all talented, but it does make TNA look bush league.

Well, that was weird. I was hoping Rex would insert himself into the match, considering Drew's already been champion. Or he could challenge Drew with the winner going against EC3.

- Drake/Lashley/Sienna segment:
The Bobby Lashley Show featuring other, less important wrestlers.

Whenever Lashley's not on screen, all the other characters should be asking "Where's Lashley?"

Lashley burying Drake as not being important enough to defend the title against. If Drake doesn't attack him later, he'll look like a total wuss.

Funny to tease Lashley winning the Knockouts Title. Juwanna Mann/Santina Marella gimmick when?

- Hardys segment:
This is the absolute greatest thing. Obviously the Hardys realize they can do whatever they want at this point and ran with it.

- Drake/Shera promo:
Eli going hard on Storm's bad couple of weeks.

I like Eli standing up to Lashley.

Shera's becoming one of my favorite wrestlers/promo guys in something of an ironic way.

- Drake vs. Shera:
That was OK for the time it had. Drake's alright.

- Dixie/Corgan/Lashley backstage, and in the ring:
I like Lashley being too badass to care what Dixie and Corgan are going to do.

Lashley holding all the cards. I like it.

I'd be completely fine with dropping the X and KOTM Titles. There just aren't enough members of the roster to sustain those divisions. It's not like TNA can't have lower/midcard feuds without belts. Plus, they can bring the KOTM Title back in 18 months with yet another new name!

Lashley burying titles is fine by me, since neither means anything anymore.

Lashley is a BOSS.

Oh.... I guess we do have to see new X-Division and KOTM Titles after all. Good luck rebuilding those to mean something.

- Bromans vs. Tribunal vs. Helms Dynasty vs. Hardys:
I wonder what the other members of the roster think about the Hardys' antics.

This is wild. Definitely better than your "do 50 spots" ladder match.

Brother Nero will literally take any bump or do any spot you ask him to.

Funny ending.

More wrestling coming up.
