Superstars Reax - 8/13/16, Interview with Beefcake, set for Smackdown, and NXT live event notes

Superstars:
- Swagger vs. Mahal:
Hey, Jinder's getting regular work now. That's got to count for something, even if he's just going to go 1-75 this year.

Swagger really working Mahal over.

Oh, man. I really wanted to see Swagger pull out the Doctor Bomb. I miss ECW Champion era Jack.

I think Jack's probably just glad someone else is around to do some jobs. Good match, but it would have been better if we had a promo by a REAL AMERICAN like Zeb Colter.

- Zayn vs. Axel:
So, Zayn won the big feud with Kevin Owens at Battleground, but Owens is on the card at Summerslam while Zayn isn't? Seems kind of like a dropped ball.

I like Sami, but a lot of times he's a "check out my athleticism" guy rather than a great worker with athleticism.

This is heating up pretty well.

I was hoping that would go a little longer, but it was fine for what it was. I liked the work on Zayn's arm mattering.

Brutus Beefcake discussed his career:
- Beefcake always had the reputation of just being Hogan's friend, but he got over being a barber. That should count for something.

- Hair vs. hair feuds used to really mean something. Now ROH has someone cut someone else's hair because it's something heels used to do. No context to make it important that someone had their appearance ruined. It's just something done one week to try to get heat.

- The Edge and Christian show was a blast.

- I can't really see a big angle with Brutus in 2016 unless they randomly have someone get a haircut. I do think it'd be funny for Slater to pay Brutus (or even better, Virgil) off to do a job so he can finally get a contract with Raw or Smackdown.

Announced for this week's Smackdown:
- John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio
- Miz TV with Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler
- Eva Marie in action(?)
-- Somewhat surprisingly, Del Rio isn't on the card for Summerslam. We'll see if that changes for Backlash when Smackdown needs more matches to fill out the card.

At NXT live events this weekend:
- Niko Bogojevic worked some more tag matches. He's a Wyatts-sized mastadon with an impressive Greco-Roman wrestling background. Working with fellow big guy Tucker Knight would indicate we're looking at another giant team in the vein of the Authors of Pain. We'll have to see whether that sticks or if it's just for Bogojevic and Knight getting more experience.
- Jeet Rama had a match with Noah Kekoa, who also works as Noah Potjes. No Kishan Raftar this time.
- Adrian Jaoude worked some live events, in a singles match losing to Murphy one show and teaming with Wesley Blake in a loss to Knight and Bogojevic on another show. I believe these were his debuts at this level. At any rate, he's just getting started working live matches. Jaoude was a freestyle wrestler in Brazil before joining NXT.

More wrestling tomorrow.
