WWE Summerslam preview

Read on for how I'd book tonight's WWE special event.
- A. Alpha/Usos/H. Bros vs. Vaudevillains/Ascension/Breezango:
The heels win to mix things up. Tag Team Turmoil for the "Universal" Tag Team Titles at Backlash works for me.

- Zayn/Neville vs. Dudleys:
Might as well have the faces win since it's not like the Dudleys are going to be in any title contention anytime soon.

- Charlotte vs. Sasha:
Sasha retains in a barnburner. Final  showdown at the next PPV where Ric celebrates with The Boss for vanquishing his turncoat daughter. THEN we get Sasha vs. Nia.

- Miz vs. Apollo:
Might as well do a title change here to build Apollo. He's definitely an impressive athlete. They should see what they've got with him. Rematch at Backlash, then Crews vs. Corbin in a feud to elevate both.

- Natalya/Alexa/Eva vs. Becky/Carmella/Naomi:
Well, looks like this match is out now. How about Natalya and Alexa taking Carmella out before the match to make it two-on-two, then Carmella appearing at just the right moment to distract the heels for a loss. Then Nikki Bella appears at the top of the ramp to survey the competition and we set things for the Universal Women's Championship to be on the line at Backlash. Nikki vs. Becky works for me. Bayley can then debut in time for Survivor Series.

- Enzo/Cass vs. Y2J/Owens:
Y2J does something dastardly to Cass so Owens can hit the powerbomb on Enzo to win. I like the dynamics involved here. Enzo actually reminds me of '99 Jericho in some ways.

- Sheamus vs. Cesaro:
Cesaro to start the series strong. The series absolutely needs to mean something more than "who the better wrestler is." The winner should at least get a U.S. Title match, if not a Universal Title match.

- Rusev vs. Roman:
Lana does the whole "fall down to look like the babyface hit me" thing. Rusev
snaps and gets DQ'd. Rusev vs. Zayn is next.

- New Day vs. Club:
I fantasy book them to lose every month, but I really love New Day as an act. The Club has an out to win due to E's injury. They can even attack Xavier and Kofi backstage while they're being interviewed to tip the odds in their favor more. They "need" the title and credibility more than New Day do at this point.

- Cena vs. AJ:
AJ wins clean, because it's not like Cena needs the win to be protected or stay as a main eventer. Gimmick match at Backlash to settle things. Last Man Standing? I Quit match? Doesn't really matter to me. At some point Cena's going to disappear to tape more American Grit, so that's something to consider with the booking.

- Balor vs. Rollins:
Awesome match leading to the new tag team champions getting involved to assist their good brother and first-ever WWE Universal Champion... Seth Rollins! That's MUCH more compelling of a story, as The Club can resent Balor being in the company (via NXT) for so long without bringing them in. They could probably throw in some jabs at the current Bullet Club, too, saying they couldn't wait to leave. There could be some fun had with the concept as a whole, and the team of Finn and Roman can be entertaining if done right (don't make them buddy-buddy. They just share a common enemy).

- Ambrose vs. Ziggler:
Ambrose wins. Let's not kid ourselves here. I'd save the Wyatts interference for TV to save us from a long "we stole the show but you were the better man. Let's do this again."/"I'm so wacky and crazy we should do this RIGHT NOW." segment. Bryan adds Bray and Rowan to the mix at Backlash as a four-way match to see if Family is thicker than titles.

- Brock vs. Orton:
Obviously Brock put WWE in a bad position, but I don't think Orton should be the one to end his momentum. The Viper puts up a fight, but there's no stopping Brock when he gets on a tear. I was originally going to book Orton/Del Rio for Backlash, but that plan's out the window now. I like Baron Corbin, but I don't know if he's ready for that big of a feud. So it looks like the other option is Orton vs. Kane. Orton can come to Bryan and Shane saying he wants a big opponent next, and they can bring back The Demon. Given their history with him, they could sell him as a beast and hopefully do some fun vignettes of resurrecting him or something. As for Brock, him facing Goldberg at NoC and/or HiaC works for me, then how about Goldberg vs. Cena at Survivor Series? Goldberg could then head into the HoF during WM33 weekend. Ending Summerslam with Brock/Goldberg would be BIG.

More wrestling coming up.
