NXT and CWC Reax - 8/24/16

Read on for my thoughts on last night's NXT and CWC.

-NXT:
- Dillinger vs. Blake:
This is pretty fun so far. Good back-and-forth, and the crowd's really into it.

Both men have a pretty solid base of skills. That can get them a consistent place on Main Event or Superstars, although I imagine they have bigger goals than that.

Pretty outstanding match. Both men clearly have their wits about them in the ring and are able to bring out good things in their opponents, so it's not a surprise they combined to do something grand.

- Roode promo:
That was mostly good, although I hope Almas can rebound from being labelled as OK instead of great.

- Aries promo:
I like Aries being so upset at all the interference at his expense. He's a top star, and he keeps getting sidetracked from being NXT Champion.

- Bayley/Ember promo:
Bayley can be monotone with a lot of her delivery, which is a shame because she's shown she can also be a pretty solid promo when she's not directed to sound like she's bored out of her mind. I liked the moment with Ember, though.

- Revival promo:
That was great. Dawson's definitely the alpha on the mic, but overall it was solid. I hope they do face a main roster team in order to get their training to the next level.

- Joe/Nakamura segment:
I look forward to seeing what Nakamura and Joe do going forward. I assume we're in for a rematch. Hopefully after that, the clock starts ticking on Joe heading to the main roster (either at the Rumble or the night after WM33).

- Sanity promo:
People are still speculating this has to do with Eric Young, but time will tell. I'm very surprised he's been on the sidelines this long.

- Authors vs. TM61:
I wish TM61 got a promo before this. They're a pretty entertaining duo.

I like the mastadons just showing up and wrecking shit instead of waiting for the ref to start things. They could break him in half.

Nice way for TM61 to turn things around.

I like the smaller team using everything their size to the best of their abilities to take out the Authors. Crazy dives make sense in this strategy, because just going out there and brawling with their opponents would not end well.

Valiant effort from the Aussies, and impressive destruction from the walls of humanity.

-CWC:
- Dorado promo:
I can definitely see Lince being signed since he's a Latino lucha star who also speaks English. Whether he'll be a main roster guy or an NXT guy remains to be seen.

- Dorado vs. Swann:
Nice back and forth if you like flips.

OH MY GOD LINCE'S DANCING WAS HYSTERICAL. He's showing some good personality.

Oh no. Synchronized spot wrestling at its worst. It's all really pretty, but it looks more like a video game or something than a fight.

I liked that alright, but it wasn't really a style I generally enjoy.

- Gargano promo:
Johnny's pretty much your standard babyface promo.

- Gulak promo:
I wish these promos had more character than they did. Gulak could really be someone to watch if he got to cut loose as a heel.

- Gulak vs. Sabre:
Now THIS looks like a competition between fired up talents.

Oh, this is a treat. I'm loving the jockeying for position.

That AMAZING Fujiwari armbar spot.

My God what a match! The counters and technical wrestling combined with some really impressive, believable strikes made this one to go out of your way to see.

I would not mind both men being signed. They proved they can really put together something special.

- TJP promo:
This guy is just naturally hateable. He's really talented, though.

- Gargano promo:
They're definitely setting Johnny up to potentially win given all the focus on him.

- TJP vs. Gargano:
This is getting spot-heavy, like they can't focus on one thing for too long before doing something else innovative or flashy.

Both men are impressive, and obviously experienced. It's just they've been brought up in the really choreographed indie style.

Jesus Christ Gargano that dive did more to you than to TJ.

More moves equals more stars, brother. The quicker they come and the more dangerous they are, the better.

Surprising, but good ending. I expected a big flip to end it, but the story of Johnny's knee was actually relevant to the ending.

More wrestling tomorrow.
