Del Rio officially done with WWE, Paige update, Kane press, Interviews with Gargano/Carmella/Punk, Sasha update, Delete or Decay aftermath and Director's Cut, top CMLL name working ASEVIII, TNA audience, more ECW on the Network, WWE alumni get scholarships, and Questions on Cena tapping out, the cruiserweight division mattering, Broken Matt in WWE, Emma's recovery, and replacing Joey Styles

WWE and Alberto Del Rio have mutually agreed to end Del Rio's contract a few weeks early. This had been pretty much official for a while, but WWE likely waited to announce it at the end of the news week so it will be less of a talking point by Monday (following C.M. Punk's UFC debut and Backlash this weekend). As much as I like Del Rio as a competitor, it's obvious this is the right move for both sides. Neither side seemed particularly enthused with how things were going in the past few months. Del Rio could very much still "go," but WWE had no real plans for him. It's kind of a Catch-22, since the writing had been on the wall that he wasn't going to re-sign.

- Del Rio, now reverting to his Alberto El Patron ring name, had a press conference in Mexico to discuss his future. Patron stated his passion in wrestling has waned, and he felt he had already accomplished all he could in WWE. He has a point there. Patron intends to wrestle another two years before retiring, but doesn't intend on signing anywhere on a full-time basis. There was no negative talk about WWE, and the topics of Paige and their Wellness failures never came up. Paige was there, but not in an official capacity of taking questions or anything. I know people want to make this a lot more scandalous than it is, so I'm glad he's taking the high road and focusing on his future. Whatever happened between him in WWE, it's over now and he's moving on.

There are currently no creative plans for Paige, whose suspension ends on September 17. She has not been cleared by WWE to return to the ring following a back and shoulder injury, so this isn't necessarily a sign of her being on the way out of the company.

Kane got press in Knoxville for being part of a food drive. That's great. I'm glad he's doing good things in his community. I would have loved for him to work the grill or something in-character, but I'm not going to slight him for helping the hungry.

Johnny Gargano discussed leaving EVOLVE. WELCOME TO THE BIG LEAGUES, KID. HAHA I LOVE IT MAGGLE.

Sasha Banks competed as part of WWE's live event in the Philippines, losing to Charlotte via rollup. So, she's already back contributing as a wrestler.

Carmella talked about coming to the main roster and more. It's good she's getting regular wrestling matches. That's what she needs to do to continue to improve.

Matt Hardy has set out a "search party" for Senor Benjamin following Delete or Decay. I really hope he has some more vanguards to seek out such an important member of his platoon. I'm definitely looking forward to the next step in this program.

ROH has announced CMLL's Dragon Lee will face Kamaitachi at ASE VIII. These two have feuded in CMLL and NJPW, so ROH is bringing that rivalry to their PPV.

TNA released the Director's Cut of Delete or Decay, featuring all the related scenes from this week's Impact Wrestling. It was one of the most enjoyable things on a wrestling program in quite some time.

TNA's audience this week was 337,000 up against a Super Bowl rematch. They tried their best in counter-programming that game with Delete or Decay, but the audience still declined. Hopefully they made up for that audience with DVR views.

WWE Network has added ECW TV episodes from April and May 1993. This content was from before Paul Heyman booked the company.

WWE has announced scholarships for several former talents pursuing further education. That's great! It's hard to start over like that after going to work doesn't work out.

C.M. Punk discussed whether he misses performing as a wrestler. Punk wanted to main event Wrestlemania, but obviously that never happened. That was really his last big accomplishment he wanted from a wrestling career. I'm glad he's happy now and has control of his life again.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I know he passed out to the Accolade, but Cena doesn't do the whole tapping/giving up thing. THAT'S WHAH AH CALL 'IM BIG MATCH JOHN, MARRO.

2. I don't see why they can't do both if they make the cruiserweight division mean something. There are a lot of talented performers who can shine at that level who might easily get lost in the shuffle against bigger opponents. That doesn't mean someone can't pull a Rey Mysterio or Chris Jericho and "graduate" to competing for other titles down the line.

3. Matt's had a string of enjoyable characters, inside and outside of WWE. I think him leaving WWE when he did was the right move, as he was getting pretty burned out and it was taking its toll. I'd like to think the Broken gimmick would work in WWE, but they'd have to give him enough control of it to do what he's doing now. If a bunch of writers got their hands on it, it could end up being cringeworthy.

4. She's still recovering! There hasn't been anything about her going to the performance center or anything, so she's not close to returning yet.

5. The Anonymous WWE.com General Manager? They did just hire a new senior VP of communications. I would think he'd be involved in some fashion.

More wrestling tomorrow.
