ROH and Impact Wrestling Reax - 9/29/16

Read on for my thoughts on last night's ROH and Impact Wrestling.
- ROH:
- Silas vs. Yano:
It's going to be embarrassing if Silas loses to a comedy guy.

This is mostly fun so far.

I'm liking the mind games.

Funny spot with the turnbuckle.

Silas is getting owned by Toru. He's fallen since the awesome Dalton Castle feud.

Young doing a flippy move is disappointing given his gimmick.

That was mostly good, but Young came across as being lucky to beat the comedy guy.

- Post-match:
It's a shame that won't pay off with Silas getting Beer City Bruiser and someone else to face the Briscoes and Yano at the PPV. I see why ROH is doing what they're doing at the show, though.

- Daniels promo:
Pretty solid promo. Pretty much a babyface speech from him.

I mean, seriously. Big babyface moment from the guy coming across like he's only got so much left in the tank, but he's going to make it all matter.

That was great.

- Martinez vs. Cheeseburger:
I love a Curb Stomp Battle.

That was OK to have a big hoss get a win. Martinez wasn't great, but ROH needs some hosses.

- Post-match:
That was pretty good to set up Martinez vs. Ferrara (which happened at a recent live event).

- Whitmer/Sullivan stuff:
I have no idea what any of that meant. An odd direction to follow the amazing Corino/Whitmer feud.

- Cole/Page vs. Tanahashi/Elgin:
I really hope we see Cole in NXT/WWE at some point. He gets it in a way a lot of people at this level don't.

I like Tanahashi a good deal. I can see why he has such a following.

There's some pretty good storytelling here, but I'd like Page more if he stuck with the Hangman persona and didn't do flashy highspots.

Solid back-and-forth as far as action and mind games.

Elgin's another guy who should be on WWE's radar. He's quite talented, and has what they seem to want in a superstar.

Really good stuff between some of the top talents out there.

That was a really good ending.

- Final faceoff:
Cole vs. Elgin could really be worth checking out.

- Impact Wrestling:
- Lethal Lockdown hype:
If this episode and BFG are the end for TNA, they're definitely going out with a bang.

That's a really good lineup for tonight's main event.

Lashley's been built up like a BEAST, and I'm ready to see it paid off at BFG.

OHHHHH MANNN I'm excited for tonight's main event.

- DJ Z vs. Edwards:
This style of match is now on Raw, NXT, ROH, and Impact Wrestling. THERE IS NO ESCAPE.

OH MY GOD ALL THESE DIVES.

Egh. Fine for that Crash TV style of match. I wonder if either of them (and Davey) are on WWE's radar.

- Post-match beatdown:
Based Helms Dynasty giving no sympy to the competitors.

- Maria/Allie/Laurel segment:
So, Allie vs. Laurel at BFG? They might as well.

- Bennett/Moose interview:
Wait, what's this about tying football players up on goalposts? That's intense.

Both men were sold as effective and angry here.

That was pretty good. Usually sitdown interviews are boring.

- Rayne vs. Van Ness:
This is fine for having Laurel as a heel.

I hope Madison has a future if TNA shuts down. She's got a good deal of experience, and that should matter for something.

Damn. Thanks for coming, Madison.

Funny post-match.

- Team Lashley promo:
I like Lashley putting a bounty on EC3. This should be intense.

- Galloway/Rex promo:
Galloway's a fired up heel.

Man, Rex is a flop. He was much better as a sports entertainer. Drew's eating him alive here.

Galloway already coming across as based as a heel. It's a shame he likely won't compete Sunday.

OOOOHHHH that stunt double jab.

Drew just blowing Aron the fuck out in that segment. I hope we get the payoff to this at some point.

- Decay:
Pretty solid spooky promo. I wish more wrestlers had interesting characters. Obviously not everyone can be spooky, but we need something more interesting than "guy who's worked his whole career to be here and win titles."

- Rosemary vs. Reby:
I'm not expecting Charlotte vs. Sasha here, just an out-and-out fight.

This is weird af and I like it.

I kind of forgot Reby was a wrestler for a while there.

I don't know what they've got planned for The Great War, but I'm looking forward to it.

- Decay/Hardys fight:
Even Rosemary and Reby are destroying each other here.

- Coin flip:
I'm SSSSSSOOOOOO ready for this.

- More Decay/Hardys feuding:
FUCK this is brutal. Ladder War VI has nothing on this.

Did I accidentally turn into a death match promotion? Good God.

OH MY GOD THAT ELECTROCUTION THIS IS GLORIOUS.

- Gail/Maria:
Maria's a pretty solid heel. I like the entertainment vs. wrestling aspect here.

This title match should be fine.

- Tyrus/Drake:
Tyrus should have taken Eli up on that offer! He's been trying to get someone to hire him for months.

- EC3 promo:
See, babyface promos can be interesting.

- Lethal Lockdown:
-- Bennett vs. EC3:
Nice fakeout to get us started.

I love seeing Carter wreck Bennett.

-- Bennett/Galloway vs. EC3:
Good stuff so far. I like Drew a lot.

-- Bennett/Galloway/Lashley vs. EC3/Rex:
Bobby as the dominant heel with Bennett rubbing it in is great.

-- Bennett/Galloway/Lashley vs. EC3/Rex/Moose:
I really hope we get Moose vs. Lashley at these next TV tapings.

-- Bennett/Galloway/Lashley/Maria vs. EC3/Rex/Moose:
Smart move from Maria. Shades of that other Lethal Lockdown match she was in.

-- Bennett/Galloway/Lashley/Maria vs. EC3/Rex/Moose/Gail:
BAH GAWD GAIL KIM IS A WOMAN POSSESSED.

Pretty fun action involving the Knockouts.

Crazy weapons brawls can be fun.

EC3 getting destroyed here.

This is a lot of fun! Everyone's going for the win.

GOOD GAWD ALMIGHTY ETHAN THAT MAN HAS A FAMILY.

AMAZING ending. BFG should be one hell of a show.

- Stipulation announcement:
That should be absolutely incredible.

More wrestling coming up.
