Woods honored in Georgia, Raw and Smackdown dark segments, new ASEVIII matches, new WWE executive, more on Raw jobbers, Steph book pushed back, more on Trent Acid Cup, Scott Hall incident, wrestling seminar, TNA officially sets TV tapings, Smackdown tag tournament changes for Backlash, and Questions on missing TNA stars, pushing Karl Anderson as a singles star, lifetime midcarders, "missing the boat" on Cesaro (or not), and why Nia's in squash matches

Xavier Woods appeared at Dragon Con Wrestling's most recent event to be inducted into their Hall of Fame. He's living the geek dream.

After Raw ended, Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho attacked Roman Reigns. Seth Rollins chased them off, then Reigns speared Rollins. So, those two aren't all of a sudden best friends just because Rollins was Pedigreed. I like that.

Officially added to All-Star Extravaganza VIII:
- Bobby Fish vs. Donovan Dijak for the TV Championship
- ACH/Lio Rush/Jay White vs. The Briscoes/Toru Yano in the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Championship tournament.

WWE has hired a new senior vice president of communications. He has an impressive resume. I wonder what his colleagues think of him moving over to "a fake sport."

Nia Jax's opponent on Raw wrestles as Miss Monica. Both she and Bo Dallas' opponent were Harley Race trainees.

Stephanie McMahon's memoir has been pushed back. It was scheduled to be released in October. It wouldn't surprise me if they time the release for Wrestlemania season in order to get it more hype (and potentially overshadow AJ Lee's memoir releasing in the same timeframe.)

The Trent Acid Cup is being presented as a show in Trent's honor, but not a memorial show with proceeds from tickets going to Acid's family. It's more or less a regular wrestling show done to honor Trent, with auctions of donated items to raise money for his family.

Scott Hall was recently kicked out of an airport bar after drunken behavior. Remember alcoholism is a disease. I wish him a recovery from this incident, and am thankful no one was hurt.

Paul London will teach a wrestling seminar for New England Championship Wrestling this weekend. He has a lot of advice of how NOT to make it long-term in WWE. At least Kendrick has turned things around.

TNA will tape TV from October 3 to October 8 following Bound For Glory. This is expected to fill out their 2016 TV episodes. Presumably they could do some "Best of 2016" episodes at the end of the year if they wanted to.

Before Smackdown, Baron Corbin beat a local talent. I'm surprised he hasn't been announced for anything for Backlash yet. I assume he will be. Kane, Apollo Crews, and Curt Hawkins are also notably absent.

Due to the attack on American Alpha, a change has been made for Backlash. The Usos will face the Hype Bros, with the winners challenging Heath Slater and Rhyno later in the night for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship. I suspect this is to give the Usos an out for not being the first champions. Jason Jordan can return the favor by costing them the match with Slater and Rhyno.

After Smackdown, John Cena and Dean Ambrose beat Bray Wyatt and AJ Styles. Since Cena's not going to be in town for Backlash, they haven't used him on TV after his loss to AJ at Summerslam. That's probably the right call.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Storm was "suspended" after flipping out on Billy Corgan when he lost to Lashley. Both will be wrestling on upcoming episodes of Impact Wrestling. Bram being brainwashed by Decay would be pretty intriguing.

2. Ehhhhh. Both men are lukewarm right now. I don't see splitting them up changing that unless they get some new life as characters.

3. Realistically, most people who try out for WWE will fail. Even a good percentage who have been hired will not make it to NXT TV. So, they should be grateful they're getting regular work and pay when so many people are busting their asses to try to get a spot on the card. Not everyone can be champion. Not everyone can get a push. On a nine-match card, theoretically three are lower card matches and three are midcard matches. Only about a third or (maybe) half of the main roster will ever get a shot at spots in those three big matches. That's just how it works. Of course they all want to be in a high place on the card and making a lot of money, but not everyone can be a star.

- This isn't just a wrestling thing. How many football players are going to be an important, consistent part of the team? Some people have to be in minor roles or on special teams. How many actors are going to have a major role? Someone has to play the minor roles. There are a whole lot of people and only so many important spots. The misguided notion of everyone potentially being a WWE Champion or getting a push beyond the midcard is entirely unrealistic.

4. Cesaro's a good wrestler, but I don't really see him as someone who should be at a higher place on the card. I assume once he overcomes the odds and wins the Best of Seven series, he'll get a chance at the Universal Title. This is a lot of build for a U.S. Title shot. Either way, he'll either show again he doesn't have the "It" factor to be a main eventer or he'll finally succeed in time for people to turn on him in favor of a different former indie guy.

5. She's killing people for a while until presumably they put her in a feud with Sasha or Bayley. They're both busy for now.

More wrestling tomorrow.
