Raw Reax - 8/5/13

Read on for my thoughts on last night's Raw.

Bryan's parts in the opening segment were AMAZING. I'm feeling his chase for the title. Based Bryan, etc.. This is the change we need in WWE, away from Vince's outdated mindset (and suits).

It's still weird that they're not doing RVD vs. Del Rio at Summerslam. Nice going jobbing out the World Champ to a part-timer clean. You're doing it wrong.

At least Del Rio can beat up his manager. Will this lead to Ricardo becoming a wrestler? He does have experience in that area. I'd like to see him paired up with Sin Cara as a face, personally.

The Sandow/Rhodes segment was fine. I think it's time to announce a match for Summerslam, though.

Ryback used to bring the pain to b*tches. Now they seem determined to send him on his way to Ezekiel Jackson/Mason Ryan territory. They could have easily have had The Shield get involved or something, but no. Let's kill anyone who gets any momentum going.

I don't really care one way or another about Total Divas, so this segment was kind of "meh". When (if?) Eva Marie and Jojo actually get in the ring, I'll care. Until then, I'll roll my eyes and wait for the next segment.

That was one of the better Cena segments, and he made some good points. Bryan walking out with the Title would be awesome and a necessary change in the guard. It's not like Cena and Orton can't be important parts of the show without the WWE Title. Hell, Cena was an important part of the show when he was "fired" a few years ago.

The Wyatts aren't messing around. Monster heel tag team ahoy! It's nice to have new talent they actually get behind (for now).

Pretty awesome stuff with Bray and Kane. They have a big opportunity to elevate Bray at Summerslam. They could also feed a talented young act to someone who doesn't need a rub in the least. Kane's a sure-fire (get it?) Hall of Famer, with quite a few Titles to his name. Losing to Bray's not going to hurt him.

Good Punk segment as always.

Ooh ooh! Heel (Laycool) Layla is back! Welcome back. We've been waiting.

Layla vs. Kaitlyn was fine to keep that angle going on. It does seem like Kaitlyn's losing a lot lately, though.

As far as "squashes" go that was pretty good. Is it crazy of me to think that Heath Slater could one day break out and surprise us? Weirder things have happened. Anyway, it made sense for Christian to win to set up his match at Summerslam.

Punk vs. Axel was pretty cool. I like that it was something of a fight instead of two people obviously collaborating to put on a pretty performance. This angle with Heyman's nice. I don't think I've ever seen a Heyman angle that I didn't like.

My body is ready for Punk vs. Lesnar. It should be incredible. They're setting the stage really nicely.

Punk vs. Heyman could be pretty fun. I see Lesnar getting involved and ruining Punk's face with an F5. Is it can it be Summerslam time now please?

Did they seriously bring back Kofi with absolutely ZERO hype? Way to say that he's no big deal. When a restaurant brings back a popular item, they run commercials and all that stuff. *frustration*

Kofi vs. Fandango was fine from an in-ring perspective, but neither man was presented like they had beaten Chris Jericho at WrestleMania or were a former IC, US, and Tag Team Champion.

I'm begging for HHH to Pedigree Vince right off of TV.

Zeb Colter is hysterical, like your crazy grandpa who fought in 'Nam.

Swagger and Cesaro vs. The Usos was pretty awesome as far as showing what the Real Americans can do as a team. It's a shame that most of WWE's best teams are heels. They need some good opposition.

I like Big E Langston and think he's better than some big men we've seen pushed over the years, but Dolph's really getting the shaft. It's like they're determined to prevent some guys from getting TOO over. I don't think Ziggler's character's really gotten much further from when he had the MITB briefcase.

The main event was pretty good. I guess they didn't want anyone to be hurt with a clean loss. I can't complain about that philosophy really.

That was a pretty cool ending to the show. I am way ready for Summerslam.

More wrestling coming up.
