Major League Baseball presented its American League Cy Young Award winner with a championship in the mold of the current WWE Championship. That's pretty cool.
Update: Vince McMahon announced WWE will give each Cy Young Award winner a replica of the real thing. SMART.
Former WWE Creative team member Court Bauer talked about what could have gone down at WrestleMania 22. Eddie vs. HBK could have been AMAZING. I can't say I dislike Prichard's booking philosophies. I think Hart vs. Vince would have been a better match back then, but the story we got later was still pretty good.
Everything else from Thursday is after the break.
Jerry Lawler spoke in a piece about the latest "Andy Kaufman is still alive" rumor. Would there still be that much buzz in rekindling a feud from that long ago? How many people still know who Kaufman is (was)?
MMA star Chael Sonnen talked about the possibility of C.M. Punk crossing over to MMA. Meh.
Jim Ross talked about Eddie Guerrero on the anniversary of his passing. That was a touching read.
Robbie E talked about his journey from the indies to TNA. I really enjoyed the narrative style of the article. Robbie has the right idea about adjusting himself to fit what TNA wanted. Who's to say he would have made it there as Eckos? I can just picture him teaching a class in-character.
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Hogan had creative control. It's possible he didn't want to work with Hart and that's why it never happened. I've often heard it said that "the inmates ran the asylum in WCW" - much different from the corporate structure of WWE.
2. I can't think of any time I've heard of one, but that doesn't mean there isn't one. It's just so rare that a talent gets cut from NXT who people think could go to TNA or ROH right off the bat. Given TNA's taping schedule, it could indeed be months before we see the former Kassius Ohno.
Nothing to add to 3 or 4.
5. It's pretty much true. WWE wants characters for an entertainment show, not necessarily (exclusively) good wrestlers. If WWE can't find a role for a talent, it doesn't matter how good they are from a technical standpoint. And the IWC definitely exists. It's the name describing the group of people on the internet who keep up with wrestling. They might as well say Americans don't exist or something.
More wrestling later in the day.
