Top NXT prospect released, Heyman returns, Alexander funeral info, WWE backstage shake-up, Roode signing, TNA live event notes, WWE changes schedule, Hogan updates, Interviews with DDP/Maryse, new TNA PPV taping and Questions on Ohno's release, Kaitlyn, Dreamer, JR and the zombie that is ECW

WWE has released Kassius Ohno, known all over the world as indy wrestling personality Chris Hero. Ohno/Hero is known for his work with the likes of Antonio Cesaro, Daniel Bryan and C.M. Punk. It's no understatement to say he's been highly lauded during the course of his career, so it's really a shame we won't be seeing him tear it up on the main roster.

Update: Hero's already getting booked on the indy scene, working 11/16 for Pro Wrestling Syndicate and in Pro Wrestling Guerilla in December. Glad he's getting work. Hopefully TNA's dialing him up right now, too.

Update: There were people on the main roster surprised that Ohno was released, as HHH praised the recent Ohno/Luke Harper match on NXT. I'm curious as to why he was released. There have been rumors around, but I'll wait to see if anyone credible mentions them before commenting.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Paul Heyman competed on a live event in Scotland, teaming with Ryback against C.M. Punk. Heyman played up his injuries heavily with a leg brace, arm sling, neck collar and back brace. Hilarious. Hunico and Camacho were also a team on the show, so maybe that looks good for them being a part of TV going forward?

The funeral for indy promoter Roland Alexander is set for this Wednesday at 8 a.m. at the New Life Christian Church in Hayward, CA. He'll be missed.

Pete Leone has been released from WWE as his job duties have been pretty much taken over by Jane Geddes due to her promotion. If firings backstage work like they do on-camera, Leone will be making run-ins during business meetings during the next month before he pins Geddes to get his job back.

Also leaving WWE recently was Russ Bacon, who had worked in the production end of the company for two decades. The latter's departure was a surprise to many in WWE. He's not a name I'm really familiar with.

Bobby Roode had a signing in Toledo, OH to promote last night's TNA live event. The show featured him facing Storm in a Last Man Standing match as the top match. Sounds pretty cool. Obviously they can't have a TNA Title match without Styles there and the tournament still going on. Lei'D Tapa and Dewey Barnes also worked the show, so the former's getting experience before she wrestles on TV and the latter's still getting work.

WWE canceled a 2/1/14 event in Tampa, replacing that show with a show in Orlando originally set for 2/2/14. Doesn't really affect me.

Hulk Hogan's looking for work, brother. First he claimed he quit TNA (instead of him not being re-signed when his contract expired) and then he teased the 797th nWo reunion on Twitter. Is the nWo relevant enough in 2013 to bring in a beaten-down 60-year-old Hogan, a limited 54-year-old Nash and two people with histories of substance abuse problems in a 55-year-old Hall and a 41-year-old X-Pac, who has Hepatitis C? Pac can probably still go, but I have doubts about the others.

Diamond Dallas Page joined a podcast. I recommend his yoga plan for anyone looking to get in better shape.

Brie Bella talked about Total Divas. I've definitely seen people try to get ahead without working hard... At any rate, I don't really care what these people do in their private lives, who's dating who, etc. Can I get back to covering wrestling now?

Maryse talked about why she left WWE. I can't say I miss her too much. I liked her at the time, but I don't think the wrestling world is missing out huge with her gone.

TNA will tape a PPV called One Night Only: Old School on 12/30. The main event is set to be Bully Ray vs. Tommy Dreamer in a Falls Count Anywhere Street Fight. I sure do love ECW reunions.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. It didn't take much time to get to this question! Ohno's an awesome talent, no doubt. There hasn't been much out about the "why" of his release, so at this point it would be exclusively speculation to wonder what's going on there. I definitely think they missed the boat on a talented performer, but maybe there's something deeper here.

2. Well, they've gotten pretty much all they can get out of her feuding with AJ for the time being, so there's not a ton for her to do. Turning her heel would be ridiculous, so she's just kind of on the sidelines for now. As far as I know, WWE's still high on her.

3. HOH isn't an ECW-reunion style product!? I guess not officially, but there are a number of similarities.

4. Randy Savage came back, didn't he? Oh.... But yeah, I see him coming back in some capacity some day, even if it's just a minor role or cameo. It's unfortunate he had to take the heat for the WWE2K14 incident.

5. I'm sure there will be another 37,000 ECW documentaries before it's all said and done, but it would be kind of cool to see someone splice together Rise and Fall, Hardcore Homecoming and Barbed Wire City. They couldn't sell it, and I don't see how it'd be "fair use", but when has that stopped anyone?

More wrestling tomorrow.
