Raw Reax - 2/29/16

Read on for my thoughts on last night's Raw.
HHH really did a number on Roman. I hope they have several big wars in the coming months if HHH is up for it. I'm getting HHH vs. Batista vibes.

Triple H can cut some really great promos when he's the centerpiece of things.

I love HHH sticking it to the fans, and linking them to Roman. That's how you (attempt to) build a babyface.

If Roman can't make Mania due to HHH's attack, what becomes of the WWE Title?

I kind of want to see a big match between Ambrose and HHH, too. And of course Rollins vs. HHH when the former WWE Champion returns.

The Oscars reference sounded so forced. I hate when they do that kind of thing.

I also think the "crazy Dean Ambrose" thing can be pretty forced, too.

HHH has a way of not selling his opponents, as he's doing here by acting like Ambrose was just some guy in a contendership match. Imagine if this was the first time someone saw Ambrose, and they heard he wasn't even a factor in the previous match.

The contrast between the rough Dean Ambrose and the clean-cut HHH is pretty funny.

Ambrose vs. HHH would be pretty hype.

I'm glad HHH didn't just give Ambrose a title match. The title should be more important than that.

Del Rio vs. Ambrose should be good.

- Becky vs. Sasha:
Good wrestling so far. I'm so glad we're getting talents like Sasha and Becky coming up from NXT instead of Maryse and Aksana.

These two always work well together.

I like the Disarmher being treated as a serious submission hold you do NOT want to get caught in. We need more of that in wrestling.

That was good to keep the story going. I definitely think they should do a triple threat at WM32.

I enjoy the Wyatts, but I really wonder what they're heading for at WM32. Losing at Fastlane hurt their momentum, and it's not like Ryback got a big push from it.

- Ziggler vs. Miz:
Ziggler's an enjoyable wrestler, but he hasn't done anything important in a long time.

I don't know what, if anything, this match accomplished unless they were trying to rebuild Miz after the matches with Y2J and Styles.

What, is Linda going to show up and take the award from Steph this week?

Stephanie's great at playing off the crowd. She's definitely her father's daughter.

It does say something about Shane's dedication to WWE that he disappeared for years. How's he going to help run a company he hasn't been around for some time?

You KNOW we're in for the seventh generation of McMahons feuding on Raw and Smackdown at some point. This is going to go on forever.

That was a really good promo to set The Authority up as heels for WM32. Although it's really weird Undertaker is their ally in this scenario.

- Dragons vs. Sheamus/Rusev:
I enjoy the teamwork of both sides here.

I like seeing the more quick, flashy duo against the big powerhouses.

Kalisto's impressive. I can see why there's hope of him being the next Rey Mysterio.

Good match overall.

Del Rio's finisher is pretty sick.

Hopefully the Jared Fogle scandal doesn't rub off on WWE for teaming with Subway again.

Ryback's Spotlight reference was good. It didn't feel tacked on like most pop culture references in WWE.

- Ryback vs. Rose:
Rose is trying hard here. He can be a good undercard wrestler.

That was OK overall to rebuild Ryback. I wonder what they're planning on doing with him at WM32.

New Day is a blast.

Uggghhh. Jericho.

- Y2AJ vs. Kofi/Big E:
Enjoyable match so far. Four solid workers here.

I like how these people all work together. Jericho and Styles complement each other pretty well.

Good ending.

Y2AJ going for the tag team titles should be pretty good. Jericho's promo was kind of lame, but the match should be worth watching.

There's no getting rid of HHH, Stephanie, and Vince. They're like cockroaches: they'll survive forever.

Thank goodness Taker isn't just accepting being Vince's pawn.

Jesus, that was it? Taker's entrance lasted as long as him being in the ring.

Ehhhh.... not a great segment. Underwhelming, actually. I was hoping for something bigger to set up Taker's big Mania match in his home state.

- Jey vs. Bubba Ray:
Fun stuff between the dominant big man and the wily younger star.

That was OK overall. I kind of want to see Jey/Jimmy/Rikishi vs. Bubba/D-Von/Rhyno at WM32.

Poor Goldust. First his brother goes crazy, and now Truth won't team with him. Maybe he should call up Rellik from his TNA run?

- Owens vs. Show:
It's different seeing Owens as the smaller man and underdog.

Man. Owens did about all he could in that one, but the booking was pretty lame.

I think we're just kind of counting down the days for Brie Bella retiring. She lost clean to the Divas' Champ; there's not much else for her to do.

Soooo, is Lana going to start wrestling? I thought she had super-real heat and was being buried.

Not a good Brie/Lana segment. They tried too hard with the Revenant reference.

- Naomi vs. Brie:
This isn't bad. Everyone's working hard.

I'm liking both women's work here.

That was good overall. Brie was against the odds.

I can see Team Lana vs. Team Brie at WM32 to get the other Divas on the card and give Brie a last big win.

Glad The Freebirds are FINALLY going into the Hall. It makes sense to do it in Dallas.

Nice promo from Charlotte.

- Ambrose vs. Del Rio:
Good work so far. I like both men's work.

Nice match overall so far.

These two generally work together pretty well.

Nice job by Ambrose trying to take out everyone.

Ambrose competing against LoN and HHH is a good warm-up for Brock.

Damn. Ambrose is getting mauled here.

BAH GAWD AMBROSE HAS A DAMN FAMILY!!!!

Nice ending. I missed Diabolical Heel Haitch.

More wrestling coming up.
